"Cascades: How to Create a Movement that Drives Transformational Change" by Greg Satell (2019) (http://bit.ly/3q5vox6) "It is never enough to merely state grievances to challenge the status quo. To create meaningful change, you must put forward an affirmative vision for what you want the future to look like. Again, this is not about messaging. It's not enough to merely express your grievances more artfully. You have to define an alternative that is actually better, not just for those who agree with you, but for the vast majority of those who will be affected by the change you seek" (p. 117). "Change the story, change the future: A living economy for a living earth" by David C. Korten (2015) (http://bit.ly/3n8iixH) “Cells can and do go rogue and become a threat to the whole. Cancer is an example. The healthy cells self-organize to eliminate them. If they fail, the body dies and the rogue cells thus self-eliminate. ||| We might take this as a warning. We humans are behaving as rogue cells in the body of Living Earth and have activated Earth's defenses, notably climate change and deadly infectious diseases” (p. 67). The choice is ours.”As the unfolding of environmental disasters continues, the window of opportunity for this choice seems to be narrowing. But again, another quote, this one from Samuel Johnson: “When a man knows he is to be hanged… it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”As guest on this week’s Wiki Politiki show, David Korten offers his latest — and surprising — views on our pathway toward “ecological civilization” a pathway he says, that goes right to and through China. Will China lead when a Trump-misled USA won’t? Tune in and hear what David has to say.Dr.
