Konkurrenzkampf um Pflegepersonal: Der Vorstoß des bayerischen Ministerpräsidenten zur Aussetzung der Impfpflicht für Pflegeberufe „bringt weitere Unruhe in die angespannte Lage der Krankenhäuser“, kritisiert der Chef der Essener Uniklinik, Professor Jochen A. Werner, bei „19 – die Chefvisite“. Angesichts der herrschenden Personalknappheit in der Branche stelle sich die Frage, ob medizinische Einrichtungen im bayerischen Grenzbereich „sich gegenseitig mit geringen Anforderungen an den Impfstatus überbieten“ wollten, um Mitarbeiter etwa aus Hessen oder Thüringen abzuwerben, so Werner. Ein solcher Konkurrenzkampf „zu Lasten der Patienten“ sei für ihn „nur schwer vorstellbar“, rügt der Mediziner. Der sich abzeichnende „Flickenteppich“ bei der Impfpflicht werde „einen weiteren Vertrauensverlust hinterlassen“, fürchtet Werner. „Hilfreich ist der Vorstoß aus Bayern nicht“, sagt der Arbeitsrechtler und Vorstandschef der Korten Rechtsanwälte AG, Felix Korten, im Videocast: „Das wird zum Chaos weiter beitragen.“ Denn die ohnehin überlasteten Gesundheitsämter müssten nun den Impfstatus jeder Pflegekraft überprüfen, bewerten und gegebenenfalls ein Betretungsverbot für Kliniken oder Seniorenheime aussprechen, so Korten. Max Korten was a two sport athlete at Moravian College, running Track and Cross Country from 2013-2016. Max discusses being diagnosed as Autistic at a young age, defying doctors who once said he would never be able to talk, going through years of occupational and speech therapy, blossoming in high school by participating in sports and other extracurricular activities, and when he realized he was a gay man. He also talks about choosing Moravian, deciding to hide both his autism and sexuality when he went to college and how it affected him and his running times, and when he came out as his true self, his life (and running times) got so much better.

Dr. Joshua Korten attended Life University in Atlanta, Georgia to study chiropractic. While studying, Dr. Korten took a special interest in structural correction of the spine by looking to treatment methods such as Chiropractic Biophysics, and Pettibon. After watching several friends go through standard procedures of scoliosis treatment such as bracing and spinal fusions, Dr. Korten became quite passionate about desiring to help people with scoliosis. As such he spent more time outside of school learning scoliosis-focused correction methods such as those from CLEAR Institute. He graduated with honours and leadership distinctions in March of 2016. Immediately afterwards, Dr. Korten started a practice in Lexington, South Carolina focused around spinal correction, proper functional movement patterns, fitness, and holistic nutrition. Dr. Korten now practices back in Canada in Kelowna, British Columbia and has been practicing with Dr Brian Banman and the great team at Aligned Chiropractic ever since. We argue that, although it is surely not a very pleasant thought, if the AI happens to be conscious then it would not be an absolute tragedy. In fact, this lack of political substance was one of the concerns that caused us to undertake The Conversation in the first place. Given that, we're going to take this opportunity to revisit these ideas and sharpen our definition of what is (and isn't) The Conversation. We'll also interpret the current political conversation through the lens of systems thought, which featured in my conversations with Morton, Korten, Jackson, and Whitehead.

Lecturer, engaged citizen and best-selling author David Korten joins hosts Charlotte and Martha to discuss his most recent book, Agenda for a New Economy: From Phantom Wealth to Real Wealth. Korten suggests that today's economic crisis is the worst since the Great Depression, but the steps being taken to address it are similar to treating cancer with band-aids. Korten believes our hope lies not with Wall Street, but with Main Street, which creates real wealth from real resources to meet real needs. Tune in for this thought-provoking discussion.

David Korten and The Great Turning You wouldn't have expected David Korten to raise any doubts about the global economy and its ability to solve poverty and environmental damage if you knew him in the 1980s. At that time, he was working for the U.S. Agency for International Development, touting the benefits of international investment in South East Asia. Then something changed. Far from creating universal prosperity, Korten observed that the economic models of the organizations he worked for were producing devastating consequences for people and planet. In 1992 he wrote "When Corporations Rule the World," his deeper examination of economic models that serve the interests of wealthy people who are in the position to profit from global corporations and financial markets. His most recent book is, "The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community." Korten argues that corporate consolidation of power is merely a contemporary manifestation of what he calls "Empire." By Empire, he means, "the organization of society by hierarchies of domination grounded in violent chauvinisms of race, gender, religion, nationality, language, and class." He says that as a result, our society is unraveling, whether you look at climate change, dwindling fossil fuel supplies, environmental degradation, or an unfair global economic system. According to Korten, we cannot avoid the unraveling. We can, however, turn a potentially terminal crisis into a new opportunity. In May 2006, Korten spoke to an audience at the First Congregational Church in Oakland, California, about why he thinks we're on the cusp of a major shift from a world dominated by economic values to one that embraces human values.
