Did you know that pain management isn’t just about feeding and taking in stuff That will make our condition better? It’s not just about eating right Proper medication Supplementation and all that sort of stuff Because apparently, we can take all the healthiest things in the world And still struggle with recovery Still stay in our pain If we don’t optimize our body’s waste management? But when it comes to overall pain management, that’s just the tip of the iceberg I recently had a chat with one of my idols in medical science His name is Dr. Perry Nickelston He is a chiropractic physician focusing on performance enhancement Corrective exercise and metabolic fitness nutrition Dr. Perry is also a certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS), and Selective Functional Movement Assessment Specialist (SMAS) I’ve been following this high performance individual since I was in uni And if there is one thing that Dr. Perry knows like the back of his hand It would definitely be pain management He’s another bloke who had a real case of chronic pain That dragged him down into a deep hole of depression And entertained thoughts of offing himself out of hopelessness How he bounced back is completely incredible It is a mentality that he applied to his new found approach in managing pain But don’t let his credentials scare you Dr. Perry explains the intricacies of how our body works It’s response to pain and recovery In a really cool way That even a 12 year old can understand If you want to hear more on what Dr Perry has to say And see me fanboy a little over this legend Hit the play button now and get on with the chat with Dr Perry Nickelston and I See you in my episode, legends. Cheers. Highlights: [02:28] Things Dr Perry shouldn’t have done in the 80s [06:36] Why pain? And Why trust science? In this episode, we jumped right in to a conversation that just spontaneously evolves. * to the idea that the way we perceive the world is just that, the way WE SEE the world, not the world that is. We will talk about why Beau thinks this is. * we see the world that is useful for us to see * His third Ted Talk and how it feels to feel small but fundamentally connected to the world around you. He calls it "awe." * We evolve to be social. We would die if we were not. * The fear of not knowing. To be in uncertainty is a bad thing to be because you increase the chance of dying. His lab looks at the adaptive experience of certain and uncertainty. * When you watch people's behavior, we create environments that are predictable. we walk the on the same side of the street, eat the same foods, and do the things that are pretty predictable. * enough little hints, jump into the show now and listen to our conversation. i think ti will stimulate your thoughts and invite you to experience a new experience. i hope you enjoy it. Dr. Beau Lotto is a neuroscientist and world-renowned expert in perception. His research explores the ways in which we experience the world through our own versions of reality. As Beau puts it, "the brain never sees the world as it actually is, only the world that is useful to see." By illuminating these principles of perception he has helped individuals and companies transform their approach to creativity and innovation. Beau is a three-time main stage TED speaker. He has spoken at the G8, Google's Zeitgest, Wired, Oslo Freedom Forum, Big Think and contributed to the BBC, National Geographic, Netflix and PBS. His company, The Lab of Misfits is an experiential research lab comprised of leading neuroscientists, artists and technologists whose mission is to understand why we perceive the world the way we do, and apply that understanding to enabling others to see differently. Our perspective and process provide insight and value to brands, people, audiences and organizations. Haastattelu alkaa kohdasta 3:57 Podcastin lopussa Ellun kanojen perustaja ja himolukija Kirsi Piha esittelee Beau Lotton kirjan Deviate: The Science of Seeing Differently. In this episode the tables are turned. May was the 12 month anniversary for this podcast and I wanted to do something different. Each week you get to hear me inquiring into others views, experiences, research and practice and for this one, you get to hear from me. Huge thank you to Mark Gilroy (@thatMarkGilroy) for his help and being our guest host for this anniversary special. We explore my experiences with the podcast, what events have formed part of where I am and what I do now, my current areas of interest and research and share some powerful personal accounts. Panel: Charles Max Wood Tara Manicsic Kent C Dodds Special Guests: Henrik Joreteg In this episode of React Round Up, the panel discusses redux-bundler with Henrik Joreteg. Henrik spoke at the first Node Conf, leans towards progressive web apps and single-page apps, and recently has gotten into independent consulting. He also has written a book called Human JavaScript and is working on his second book right now. They talk about his redux-bundler on GitHub and the ability to make changes behind the scenes without having to bother the user. He gives a general background on why he created the bundler and how you can use it in your programming to make your life easier. In particular, we dive pretty deep on: Henrik introduction What is the redux-bundler? He despises using behavioral components If it can be local, keep it local Don’t bother the user if you don’t need to Service Workers vs redux-bundler Making changes behind the scenes He loves to build apps Can you see any case where it would be useful to have a Service Worker in the background? Redux-bundler example Redux-bundler worker example What are the pros and cons to using the redux-bundler? At what point do you need Redux? React How did you get to the point to where you decided to make this bundler? Uses React as a glorified templating language He gets nervous when people start writing a lot of application code Speedy.gift Easier to use this from the beginning This bundler is used to show patterns And much, much more!
