The easiest answer, and the one that Ruth would give you, is to just start. She is an amazing example of what it means to take action and move toward a life and business of your dreams. Ruth Kudzi is a phenomenal business coach who has made several shifts and pivots in her business, all of which have moved her closer and closer to her dreams. Before signing up for I Heart Coaching, Ruth started her coaching business with an email. That one email went out to a select few friends and she let them know that she could coach them on ANYTHING. Surprisingly, it worked. She retained her first few clients and realized that she didn’t want to coach people on anything and everything. After her time in the program, she chose a specific niche, clarified who her ideal clients are, and has continued to see growth month after month. Listen in as she shares how she became aware of business coaching and entrepreneurship as well as how she found her drive and courage to take action from the outset. Your network, your drive, and your ability to continue to grow are the biggest strengths that you can bring to any business. Not your ability to create websites or design impeccable funnels. This is the last sermon in the series "Ruth: Lessons in Loving Kindness." Sometimes life doesn't go the way we intended. Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to understand why things happened the way they happened, or the timing or the place in which they happened. This is where we find Ruth and Naomi. Widowed, facing famine, lost, struggling with everything. But in short order, they go from thinking the hand of the Lord has turned against them, to singing and celebration. For Ruth gives birth Obed, making Naomi a grandmother. And from Obed, would come Jesse, and David, and Solomon, and eventually Joseph and Jesus. If God can restore Naomi's life, think of how He can restore our loves. If she -- in the midst of all her grief and anguish -- could find a reason to be thankful, then we, too, can find a reason to be thankful.
For Ruth, her Legacy made way for the birth of Christ, but it didn't always look like it would be that great. What greatness of your Legacy remains unseen now? Legacy is the fourth and final message of the Ruth series. Meet us at Savannah.CityChurch.Life

Ruth Ullman is a business consultant, coach, and founder of myeldercarejourney.com. She has been featured on Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC News. For more than 20 years, she has helped companies, groups, and individuals achieve their business objectives. Giving up her consulting business to care for aging parents led her to create a new business, in which she helps small businesses, entrepreneurs, and consultants realign their businesses to thrive while they care for aging parents. She firmly believes that no one should have to choose between the business they created and caring for aging loved ones. “There has to be an easier way . . .” How can I help others through this? This was the question Ruth asked herself after facing the dilemma of running her business and caring for her parents. She struggled to find the information she needed to handle not only the healthcare for her parents, but the legal and financial issues as well. Finding people who were there to answer her questions and wanting to be THAT PERSON for others has led to the creation of My Elder Care Journey. TWEET: You don’t know how much you can lose when you take on the care of aging #parents. @myECjourney Letting go: How can I do it all? We all face this struggle at some point, whether it’s related to caring for aging parents or just handling the stress of life. For Ruth, the question came as she tried to juggle her full-time business and the doctor visits and insurance issues of her aging parents. She didn’t want to let her clients down, but had to be there increasingly often for her parents’ needs. Her advice to others is to figure out how to replace yourself for awhile in your business and create a care-giving team for your parents. In her case, she had to let her consulting business go because she hadn’t planned ahead. TWEET: Elder care is a whole different animal than regular #healthcare. @myECjourney Planning ahead: How do I know when my parents need care? Ruth says to look for “clues.” For example, pay attention when your parents ask for help more often, whether it’s with physical tasks or reading insurance and legal documents. Ruth’s advice is to set up your business to run without you and to set up power of attorney for your parents. Planning ahead can create some peace of mind about the process. Ruth’s business now seeks to take a complicated system and simplify it for others who are going through what she has experienced. TWEET: The phases of #eldercare don’t necessarily come sequentially. @myECjourney Guest Recommendation: ONE action for a dream chaser to take—“If something doesn’t work the way you think, then change it. Do something different. Keep talking to people, because persistence pays.” OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE: [1:24] Thinking about caring for aging parents [4:20] Stumbling along and finding the right information [6:31] Creating MyElderCareJourney: the resource Ruth needed [8:00] Taking care of self through it all [9:38] Losing her own business and finding a support system [13:12] No time or energy for hobbies or outlets [14:26] Tips for finding a bigger network of people to help [18:58] When to start planning for elder care [21:20] How to come out on the positive side [25:30] Finding a functional medicine doctor [26:23] How to help others understand [31:15] “This is the right thing to be doing” {34:48] Ruth’s ONE action for a dream chaser RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE: Ruth’s Website Ruth on LinkedIn Ruth on Twitter Ruth on Facebook Visit Ruth’s website for her 6-week course: How to Navigate Elder Care Visit bit.ly/aimeej for a free gift for CD listeners: The Five Phases of Elder Care Checklist TWEETS YOU CAN USE: TWEET: The stress of taking care of aging parents can take 8-10 years off a caregiver’s life! @myECjourney TWEET: What I would have done differently is to have found a larger #network of people to help. @myECjourney TWEET: Preparing for the process will give you some #peace of mind. @myECjourney
By Stella Glorie Listen to 'It's the Satanic Verses, Love' One of the first audio books Ruth Mercer read after joining the RVIB (Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind) library some thirty years ago was Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses. The postman delivered all 32 tapes to her front door and announced “It’s the Satanic Verses, love”. Ruth maintains to this day that if she had tried to read it in print rather than audio form she would not have finished the book. For me, the postman's words demonstrate how Ruth and the other book group members chose to approach their blindness: with a mix of realism and humour. The group meet monthly in the Vision Australia office building where I work - 'just another blind bunch of old women'. It was that they were blind and older and loved books that attracted me to them. I enjoyed their company instantly. They are unafraid to laugh loudly or to use their minds, voices and opinions. I have been moved by their involved and zealous discussions about books which, more broadly, are conversations about the world in general. While all of them enjoy reading it is Jan who is the most passionate about books; she keenly felt the loss of her ability to read. She missed browsing through bookshops. For most book lovers, walking into a bookshop is akin to a spiritual experience, giving a sense of purpose and place. For Ruth, while she did take pleasure in books, she says it's newspapers she missed the most. “I always imagined that when I retired I would sit in bed every morning with my cup of tea and read The Age. Sadly, I can’t.” It’s the Satanic Verses, love.
