And when the fears came know I'm well versed enough in mindset to know that those weren't actually true. And I also know that I have to follow my fears and get to the place where they're no longer scary and then they don't have power over me." — Emily Williams [00:05:40 → 00:06:03] Facing Fear: "What would actually happen and what would this look like? And is it actually that scary? And am I going to allow that to hold me back from the thing that I actually want to do?" — Emily Williams [00:10:24 → 00:10:34] Overcoming Fear and Finding Strength: "I know one of my colleagues, she had a period of time for a year and a half or two years where she just wasn't selling and she was working on herself, working on her health. She realized she'd gotten so far away from her mission in life and what she was put on this earth to do and she could no longer do it. So she turned things off, she shut things down and really had to regroup and now has come back stronger than ever and has a business that she really loves and is doing work that is fulfilling." — Emily Williams [00:11:32 → 00:12:01] The Power of Vulnerability: "And so it just made me realize how often we are actually hiding, how often we are wanting to pretend like everything's okay when it's not, and how much power there is in that vulnerability and actually sharing what's really going on behind the scenes and not feeling like we have to bond over perfection." — Emily Williams [00:12:19 → 00:12:41] The Importance of Authenticity: "I do think it's important to share from a scar versus a wound if it's still really fresh and you're still experiencing, maybe wait a little bit. But in this case, I was happy to share and open and I was honest about the fact that there are a lot of question marks and I don't know who I'm going to be and what I'm going to create when I get back here. But this is where we're at and this is the truth. And again, it gave so many people that permission to take their own pause and to reevaluate their life." — Emily Williams [00:15:21 → 00:15:51] Reinventing Yourself: "I think so many people started businesses or started down a path, even if it's a career path and you thought it was what you wanted, but now you're realizing it's not. And yet there's a fear of changing things up, there's a fear of reinventing yourself." — Emily Williams [00:17:18 → 00:17:30] The Duality of Ambition: "And yet they are starting to realize that even though the goal is to build their business, create wealth, have a big impact in the world, there are also other things that they're ambitious at, which is maybe family life, motherhood, just being healthy, not being so obsessed, and having their entire worth wrapped up in their company." — Emily Williams [00:23:47 → 00:24:07] Building Two Companies with Massive Collaborations: "So I was building out those contracts and relationships and getting all of those professional relationships solidified." — Emily Williams [00:27:57 → 00:28:05]

In this episode of the I Heart My Life Show, I had the pleasure of interviewing financial advisor Mark Fujuwara. But guess what? This convo is not about money or financial advice... Real truth? When my previous client and friend Tricia Brouk introduced me to Mark, I had no idea who he was or what he did. But I was captivated by his story... Back in 2016, Mark's life took a downward spiral after a tough divorce, and he struggled with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. Through a simple conversation, he got the idea to step out of his comfort zone for 100 days, which as you'll hear in this episode, completely transformed his mental health and reduced his anxiety and depression. Now if you're reading this thinking you could never take that challenge, just know that he started small. In fact, his first step was telling someone about his mental health struggles. He called his cousin, who also had mental health struggles (unbeknownst to him!), and found it liberating to share his story. Now, Mark's goal is to normalize conversations about mental health symptoms in society, comparing it to talking about common cold symptoms. He believes that this would be a significant step towards winning the battle against mental health struggles if we could all be more open. I completely agree which is why mental health is a big topic of conversation on this Show. In this episode, you'll also hear Mark talk about how transforming his own life through his new practices also impacted his business. For example, he no longer works with clients who are not their true selves and is able to attract high-level contracts easily, without struggle due to his own energy and magnetism. Mark's story serves as a reminder that it's okay to struggle and seek help, and that vulnerability can lead to personal growth and positive change, and he gives us simple ways to reduce anxiety and depression. Let's dive in... In This Episode: [00:00]The Importance of Mental Health Mark discusses his goal of normalizing conversations about mental health and how it can help in winning the battle against mental illness. [01:49]Mark's Journey and Work Emily introduces Mark and they discuss his upbringing, career trajectory, and the creation of his family office. [07:10]The Power of Being True to Yourself Mark talks about his struggles with mental health and how being true to himself and sharing his story has helped him and his clients achieve better results. [12:33]Chy Egoi and Maximum Appreciation Mark explains the Japanese concept of Chy Egoi and Maximum Appreciation of the moment. [14:08]Wake-up Call Mark talks about his struggles with anxiety and depression and what led to his wake-up call in 2016. [21:05]Jumping in a Cold Body of Water Mark shares how Dave Asprey's advice to jump in a cold body of water became his day one task and how it helped him expand his comfort zone. [22:13]Hip hop dancing class Mark talks about his experience attending an advanced hip hop dancing class and how it helped him step out of his comfort zone. [25:39]Benefits of vulnerability Mark discusses how being vulnerable and sharing his mental health struggles with others helped him feel less lonely and become his true self. [29:17]Indicators of true self Mark shares how he measures his energy levels and looks for red flags to determine if someone is living out their true self. [33:10]Mark's True Self Approach Mark discusses his approach to financial advising, which is centered around being true to oneself and avoiding scripts. He shares examples of how this approach has led to successful client relationships. [34:28]The Importance of Being True to Oneself Mark shares a story about how being his true self during a client meeting led to a successful business relationship. He also discusses the importance of being true to oneself in all aspects of life. [41:23]Manifestation and Letting Go of Results Mark and Emily discuss the importance of manifestation and attracting abundance, and how being unattached to specific results can lead to greater success. They also draw parallels between this approach and dating. [43:24]Trisha's Big Opportunities Emily and Mark discuss how Trisha's success has become expected due to her alignment and energy. [44:11]Mark's Anxiety Story Mark shares his experience with anxiety and how he learned to cope with it through meditation and shifting his focus. Do you want to invest in yourself by working with a coach or mentor or participate in a group mastermind (or another group container)? And are you wondering how to get results with your coach? Or are you a coach or consultant yourself who wants to teach her clients to know how to best utilize coaching? Either way, this episode is for you...and get ready to be inspired! In this episode, I interviewed Producer, Director, Speaking Coach, and Author Tricia Brouk, who shares her experience working with James and me for three years. Trust me...she didn't go into our coaching relationship thinking she'd be with us for three years... In fact, Tricia initially thought it was craaazzzyyy to spend $15,000 on a VIP day with two strangers, but on this epsiode, she explains how she moved past that fear and judgment and decided to fly 6,000 miles roundtrip to work with us in LA. And invest with us for three years! As you listen (or watch), you'll see that Tricia received achieved instant results in her business, in particular, making back her entire (second) investment of $85,000 within the first two months of working with James and me. The. results. were. out. of. this. world.

In this episode of the I Heart My Life Show, we're talking about how to heal. I had the pleasure of interviewing my dear friend Vasavi Kumar who shares her story of addiction, recovery, and self-love. Vasavi's journey of self-discovery and healing is truly inspiring, and I am SO excited to share it with you. Growing up in a chaotic household, Vasavi experienced early exposure to therapy, which she credits as a key factor in her ability to heal and break the cycle of addiction and mental health issues in her family. In our conversation, Vasavi talks about her belief in the power of expressing emotions and listening...in fact, she's written a whole book on expressing yourself called "Say It Out Loud" which comes out this week. Her story is powerful, raw and real...she doesn't hold back! (Even admitting that after going to rehab for the second time, she had to Google "how do I love myself?"). Vasavi's stories demonstrate the power of self-love, vulnerability, and, just like most of our podcast guests, taking action toward your dreams. Here at the I Heart My Life Community, we are biiiig on desire (as you might have noticed from all the episodes we've had about the subject). And for a good reason! Being able to get everything you desire in life is a skill, and I want aaaaall of us to be able to learn and master that skill. You see, manifesting your desires doesn't have to be difficult (or impossible, like a lot of naysayers would tell you). It can be done, as long as you follow the right steps and do the work needed. A great example of this is today's guest on the I Heart My Life podcast, the brilliant, beautiful Lina Kennedy. Lina (also known as the Sugar Queen) is a storyteller, an entrepreneur, an inventor, a teacher, a successful business owner, and an all in all super woman with decades of business experience. She is also the founder and president of Alexandria Professional, the global leader and authority in body sugaring hair removal systems. Today, Lina and I will be going all in and talking about manifesting your desires, how she built her super successful dream business, the importance of staying positive and consistent in life, and more. Are you ready? Because I am! All right, let's dive in. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:00] Lina shares her story and how she became the successful woman she is today [08:21] Marry a millionaire? No, I'll become one instead! [17:54] Lina shares how she learned to grow her business [20:41] Some business from the Sugar Queen herself [25:44] Lina shares the financial challenges she faced during her journey [35:34] Let's learn more about Lina's book Quotes: “When you say ‘I'm grateful for the joy, abundance, and love that finds me today. I'm open, I receive, I'm ready.' Those three things can change your life on a daily basis.” – Lina Kennedy “I'm all about moving on. That's probably one of the biggest gifts I was given to myself is just to move on. And so the opposite of that would be to remain stuck. I don't believe in that. At all. There is always a solution. It's whether or not you're brave enough, or fearless enough, because fear is what stops so many people from taking that first step forward or away.” – Lina Kennedy “I love life. Every day I wake up, I'm so grateful.” – Lina Kennedy “I wish I could take away the fear from people. You shouldn't fear trying something different, trying something for yourself against whatever people believe.” – Lina Kennedy “Women, please, if there's one thing you could do for yourself in this one lifetime, in this one journey we have here, it's to look to make yourself happy. Don't look for a man to make you happy.” – Lina Kennedy “The easiest thing you can do to grow a business is this: Communicate clearly. You want people to understand you? Say it straight.” – Lina Kennedy Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Health challenges can be a big obstacle to face. They can make us feel depressed, frustrated, hopeless, and angry. And all those feelings are valid. After all, many of us take our health and bodies for granted. We move through life with easy, almost careless steps… until we don't anymore. Many of us in the I Heart My Life community have faced a situation like this. And we've come out of it stronger and wiser. Someone who knows this better than anyone is today's guest on the podcast, the brilliant Victoria Fenton. When Victoria was seventeen, she became unwell (or as she says, “violently sick on holidays,” which definitely describes what she went through much better). That one night when she was sick changed the course of her life forever. Because of that one night, she discovered Human Design and Gene Keys, dove deep into personal development, and became the amazing human being she is today. Tune in to this episode and listen as Victoria and I discuss a loooot of interesting stuff, from Human Design to moving through trauma and health challenges to Gene Keys and everything in between. Are you ready? Because I know I am. All right, let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:56] Victoria shares her personal and professional journey with us [05:13] How Victoria stayed on her path and decided not to give up [09:24] Victoria shares with us her insights about trauma, trauma patterns, and health consequences [15:38] Victoria on nervous system repatterning [22:50] Time to discover the different types within Human Design [35:19] How do you know what cycle you're in? [36:51] Let's talk about Gene Keys! [40:43] Are you Victoria's ideal client? Find out now! Quotes: “Everything that I do includes all of my health stuff, all of the biohacking stuff, all of the coaching work that I do and the trauma resolution work that I do, essentially trying to allow people to really take up all of their space in the world. That's what I do for people.” – Victoria Fenton “I studied functional medicine, naturopathy, nutrition, and lots of specialisms within those areas just trying to find my own answers, and ended up having to qualify myself because I couldn't find a doctor or a professional who'd worked with my conditions before. And so with all of that, I ended up setting up my own functional medicine and nutrition practice in London” – Victoria Fenton “I have a very close relationship with my mom. And I really believe very strongly that I would not have gotten through this without her undying support.” – Victoria Fenton “I feel like there is a deep privilege in having to struggle, because I learned so much about myself, but also, I developed so much resilience that I would never have had. And I learned so much that I can now help other people with.” – Victoria Fenton “It really is important to understand that everything about our body runs on our nervous system. And the nervous system is the information or architectural highway that communicates how to run all of the processes. There's so much going on physiologically on a second by second basis that has to have communication on board for the body to be able to function. And most of it should be automatic.” – Victoria Fenton Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Here at the I Heart My Life community, we believe mental health should be a priority. Your mental health is one of the few things in life that you can't ignore because the consequences of doing so are just too grave. You see, nothing matters more than your own personal joy and happiness. Not work, not money, nothing… And if anything, taking care of your mental wellbeing can help you grow in your professional life, even if you have to take a day to breathe every once in a while. Someone who knows this better than anyone else I know is the amazing Ashley Turner. Ashley is a longtime yoga meditation teacher and licensed psychotherapist. She's been in private clinical practice for over a decade, and during the time, Ashley has combined yoga, meditation, and breath work with classical mental health psychology to help her clients. Ashley now primarily teaches yoga and meditation professionals how to incorporate more psychological work and exercises into their services. She also works with mental health professionals and teaches them how to integrate yoga and breathwork into psychology. Today, Ashley and I will be talking about a loooot of interesting subjects, such as the power of yoga and breathwork, moving through trauma, entrepreneurship, her fertility journey, and more. Are you ready? Because I know I am! All right, let's dive in. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:35] Let's welcome Ashley in the show! [02:09] How Ashley discovered yoga and what led her to use it for mental health work [08:31] How Ashley healed her confidence wounds [18:43] How Ashley decided to move forward as an entrepreneur in the yoga space [24:07] Ashley shares the shadow work she had to do as she stepped into entrepreneurship [30:44] Let's talk about motherhood and Ashley's fertility journey [44:33] One final question for Ashley Quotes: “Your life is your curriculum. You don't have to study books. Just be in your life and do the best you can and you will be forced into soul lessons.” – Ashley Turner “I met a friend who was really into yoga and he introduced me to it and it started to change my life. And I don't think at the time I knew that I really was depressed and I had suffered these rejections that really dropped my self-esteem. I sort of had like this idyllic eighteen years and then as soon as I got to college, I really lost my sense of self and my confidence. And so then after college when I found yoga, it started to heal me from the inside out.” – Ashley Turner “Yoga really is a psychology. Yoga is a study of the soul, it's a study of how we optimize living this human life, this body, [and] how we master our minds and emotions.” – Ashley Turner “One of my teachers would always say the goal [of therapy] is to move from judgment to understanding. So how do I move from judging myself maybe for having that trigger to really understanding and having compassion for why that might be here?” – Ashley Turner “If you're just addressing the physical level and you're working to get fit and strong and flexible [through yoga], it will still have an effect on your mental health and your energetic capacity.” – Ashley Turner “The breath is the link between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.” – Ashley Turner Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Friends, I want you to meet someone extra special today: Our beautiful, incredible daughter, Charlotte London Williams. She is truly a joy that's been added to our lives. And I cannot describe how happy I am to be finally holding her in my arms. But today's episode isn't just about that. It's also about what came before, our birth story. Before James and I talk about it, I want you to know that there is truly no right or wrong when it comes to how and where you choose to give birth. The story we share is ours and ours only, and even if yours is different, it is still valid. I had a pretty easy pregnancy and I chose to have a home birth. And trust me, it wasn't without its surprises. This is our story, so don't take any of this on if you are expecting or planning to have children soon. I truly just want this episode to be a safe space where I can share my experience and where you can too if you so choose. So, without further ado, let's get to it! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:38] It all started on February 4th, and the baby was… early! [07:50] When things started intensifying [18:15] Full-on labor and committing to the horse lips [22:18] It's finally time to push! [28:53] Things suddenly took a turn… [40:56] What happened the next morning [45:35] The one thing we learned during the birth process Quotes: “I think the thing that was super interesting about the whole experience was that, you know, we had planned a home birth. And that felt really good to me the whole time that we were thinking about delivering, I just kept thinking, ‘Where do I want to do it?” The hospital didn't feel good. I couldn't find any birth centers that felt good to me, just being at home felt very comforting.” – Emily Williams “Everything that I did was really just instinctual. And I think that's so much of what birth is. And that's what really intrigued me about being unmedicated as well as just being able to be so in tune with my body and with the baby.” – Emily Williams “I know in the grand scheme of things eighteen hours is not a long time when it comes to labor, especially for a first-time mom, but when you're in the moment, it feels like forever.” – Emily Williams “Rather than [the doula and the midwife] sort of saying ‘It's going to be okay, it won't hurt as much as you think,' it was more like ‘This is what it is. And yes, it's gonna hurt. And we're here. And this is what's meant to happen.' And I think that was great, because it was framing for all of us in the room that everything was normal, and that you're amazing, and that you're brave, and [that] you can handle it.” – James Williams “I think the pushing experience is so interesting, because I knew that my body would feel like it needed to push, but I just couldn't imagine what the sensation would actually be. And it does kind of feel like you need to go to the bathroom. But it's this crazy urge, you can't not push, everything in your body is telling you to get this thing out. And that's what I was really surprised about.” – Emily Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Have you ever wanted to do things differently? To not follow the rule book of life, but instead, be free to lead your life and your business or career in a way that works for you? I know many of us have this dream. We want to have it all: the successful business, the amazing family, the happy marriage, the perfect social life, etc… And I'm here to tell you that you can have it all. And you can be free. You don't have to stick to the book or live your life by the set of rules society pushes on you. You can make your own rules, and you can achieve success and joy and happiness doing so. Don't believe me? Well, lucky for you, I've invited someone who'll help you leave your skepticism where it belongs; in the past. Her name is Jessica Caver Lindholm and she is one of my favorite people in the world. It's funny though...when I first met Jess, she triggered me. She was so FREE. She was on her own schedule, didn't care what people thought of her, charged what she wanted to charge, and frankly, I wanted what she had! Once I got over my issues, we became close friends and she's supported me through so many ups and downs. Jessica is a business owner who lives her life and manages her business the way she wants to. She never stuck to a schedule, she never followed the book, and she definitely never stuck to a plan. She's the queen of freedom, and, you know what? That's been working for her! Listen in as she and I talk about freedom, how to attract what you want, how she made it to where she is today, the importance of feeling free, and more. If you're craving that sense of freedom in your life but don't know how to achieve it, then this episode is for you! Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [02:15] Jessica takes us back to the past [09:07] How a step-by-step process can help you achieve freedom, from a certified rebel's perspective [14:39] Jessica shares the shift in mindset that helped her make five figures a month [17:48] If I were wealthy, how would I actually feel at this moment? [26:38] Jessica talks about how she gave herself permission to be free in her business [37:37] Let's talk about pivots! [43:34] Jessica's evolution in the last few years Quotes: “I always felt like a weirdo and a rebel and an outsider. And as I grew up and went to school, I just never felt like a traditional job made sense to me. I knew I could do it. I knew I could master it. But anytime that I would work for someone else, I just had this feeling of ‘I can be doing this better. I should run the company, not be working for you in the company.' And that just kept happening.” – Jessica Caver Lindholm “I think that [spiritual side] always just lived under the surface for me, even though I was this high achiever, background in science, all of that… I still had this love of the spiritual side.” – Jessica Caver Lindholm “I think the mentors, the coaching, the programs that I was really drawn to in the beginning were those that really highlighted the lifestyle […] And so the program that we ended up being in together, what really drew me to it was not that it was gonna give me a step-by-step process to build the business. It was the feeling of it, it was the luxury, it was the idea, I was drawn so much to the idea of getting to travel the world with other women and have these luxury experiences.” – Jessica Caver Lindholm “I remember reading The Science of Getting Rich at least six times in 2014 and just realizing all the ways that I was embodying broke, embodying not enough, and all of that fear. And I became really masterful at holding the energy and the frequency of wealth and knowing and feeling free around money, even though I didn't have money. And so that was one of the first things that I ended up teaching, how to feel financially free even when there's nothing there to support it.” – Jessica Caver Lindholm “I think that our imagination and our curiosity are some of our greatest tools. And what we don't realize is, we're always in alignment for something. We're in alignment for something whether we're being intentional about it or not. And when I say alignment, it's when your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, and your actions are all pointing towards a specific outcome.” – Jessica Caver Lindholm Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Everyone, I've got a secret I want to share with you: Hustle culture doesn't work for women. I know, I know, who would've thought, right? Simply scroll through entrepreneur TikTok or your Instagram reels, and you'll be bombarded with videos of people telling you you need to work more, hustle more, sleep less, and, under all of that… enjoy life less. Because, let's be honest, if you're always hustling, then you don't really have time to enjoy yourself, take a nice warm bath to relax, play with your children, or spend quality time with your spouse, your friends, or your family. Women are always told they're not doing enough. But enough is enough (yes, I am putting. my. foot. down.) We can have it all, even if we don't spend all of our lives praying at the hustle altar. Someone who is the embodiment of this (and who has achieved sooooo many things without having to sacrifice her soul to hustle culture) is this week's guest on the I Heart Life podcast, the brilliant Jadah Sellner. Jadah is a brilliant business woman and the author of She Builds. All of Jadah's entrepreneurial work is built on one single idea: Sustainable leadership. What is it? Why does it matter? These are a few of the questions she answers in this episode. Listen in as she and I discuss this and more, such as her book, why she rejects hustle culture, and how you can achieve everything you put your mind to while avoiding burnout. Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:19] Jadah shares with us her big turning point [10:29] The change after the realization [22:23] Why Jadah procrastinated writing her book She Builds [29:22] The warning signs that hustle is crushing you [42:23] Jadah shares more about her daycare living situation story [45:02] Who inspires Jadah to make changes in her life [51:42] All you need is ten seconds of bravery Quotes: “Hustle is a season, it's not a lifestyle. So if that becomes your every day, then there is a mismatch.” – Jadah Sellner “We're living in this male dominated culture; it wasn't that long ago that women were kind of the domestic caretakers of the home, taking care of the family, and the men would be at work, and then they're also the ones that have been the entrepreneurs. And so it's very new for women to not only be working outside of the home, but also to build their own economy, to build their own business. And the hustle culture, this male dominated narrative, has made us feel like we are not doing enough, we're not smart enough, we're not making enough.” – Jadah Sellner “Building a business that compromises your health and relationships is not a sustainable business model.” – Jadah Sellner “With Simple Green Smoothies, I knew my heart was being called in a different direction. And so I was actually not only experiencing this physical burnout, but I was also experiencing this mental burnout because I was misaligned with my truth.” – Jadah Sellner “I'm a builder. I'm a creator. I always say that I'm an artist first and a business owner second. I wanted to share with more people about the behind the scenes of building a business and also what it means to build a business when you are a mom, when you are taking on more caregiving responsibilities. And I was more passionate talking about the behind the scenes of how we did what we did than about talking about the health benefits of chia seeds.” – Jadah Sellner “I think for ambitious women, we have a vision, we have a dream, we have projects and goals, and then we hit them and we plateau because we haven't expanded what is possible for us or what is it that we're wanting to learn or how we're wanting to grow next. So that's why I think it's important for us to keep connecting to ‘What's that next level vision?'” – Jadah Sellner Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Here in the I Heart my Life community, we are all about becoming the best version of ourselves, whether that means becoming the best business owner we want to be, or the best parent, or the best spouse. And in order to do that, we are always learning more, keeping our minds open to new ideas, and learning new things about ourselves and the world around us. And here's a secret: It's working! I know, I know, it sounds too good to be true. But it isn't. Yes, growth doesn't come easy. It's hard and it requires a lot of work and patience. But that work comes with results, as long as you're willing to do your best (and trust the universe a little bit). Someone who's achieved everything she's set to do (and is now working on achieving even more) is this week's guest, the brilliant Destinee Berman. Destinee is a supermom, an amazing woman, a successful entrepreneur and business owner, and an overall pretty great human being. And today, she's here to discuss how to start a business, the secrets to upleveling, why it's important to have the right mindset, and more. Are you ready? Because I know I am! Let's dive in. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:50] Destinee shares everything you need to know about her [05:20] How Destinee learned to express her joy in the world [10:43] Destinee shares her first career steps as an adult [15:11] How to develop self-belief and create resilience [25:06] Destinee shares how she upleveled her life this year and worked through the challenges that showed up along the way [27:33] Advice from Destinee on how to increase your confidence and transform your mindset [30:37] Destinee on how she balances being a mom and a business owner Quotes: “I'm learning what I need to say ‘no' to and what I need to say ‘yes' to, and learning how to build teams and systems so that I can have the kind of company that I want; and so also be the mom and the spouse that I want to be.” – Destinee Berman “Being [a child of] immigrants and having to survive, that has been instilled in me for better or worse. And so this drive, this ambition, I do believe that some of it is intrinsic.” – Destinee Berman “Being driven by fear, and being driven by this need to just make it will only take you so far. And so you know, in this range of doing something for joy, doing something for fun, doing something because I just want to, it has never really been in my world for most of my life. And so the fear is there because you feel like the rug will always be pulled underneath you.” – Destinee Berman “The message that I've always received [from my parents] is ‘You don't have freedom unless you have your own business.'” – Destinee Berman “I do feel like I still have so much more potential and possibility to fulfill […] There is that inner critic, for better or worse, that I know, I have more potential, more possibility to expand on. And there has been an intrinsic grit that has been learned, and my ambition.” – Destinee Berman Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? It's not everyday that I get interviewed, but today, that's going to change… Because today, I will be the guest! Yep, we're turning the tables (on me) and I'm going to get all candid with my brilliant interviewer, the amazing Vasavi Kumar. Woop woop! (Yes, as you can see, I am veeeery excited). You see, I wanted to change things up a bit. And I thought, what better way to do so than to sit in someone else's chair for once? Well, technically, I am sitting in a new chair, as this interview is from my dear friend Vasavi's podcast. But we've talked about sooo much interesting stuff and I thought it would be a shame not to share it with all of you. Listen in to this special episode of the I Heart my Life show, as Vasavi and I talk about aaaaaaall the fun stuff, from my top mindset practices to how to transform your thoughts to create more success to how I live my life based on my desires (and how you can too) and everything in between. I hope you're ready because this train is about to leave the station. All right, let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:41] It's time to change things up a bit! [02:19] How I went from being rejected from Starbucks (I know, crazy, right?!) to where I am now [07:58] Why I couldn't NOT follow my heart [13:26] Here's why it's important to admit your desires to yourself [22:46] It's time to realize the power of your words [33:17] Let's talk about motherhood [39:12] What it's like to be a recovering people pleaser and why you should say “no” more often Quotes: “When you start to practice following your heart and stepping outside of the rational mind that's trying to hold you back, you develop trust muscles with yourself.” – Emily Williams “I definitely was always somebody who felt like she was meant for something big, but I didn't know what that thing actually was. But it was always that little whisper and intuition that there was something more for me and something different.” – Emily Williams “I saw the entrepreneurs in my family have big dreams and do things that were a little bit different. But I definitely took it to a whole nother level. After my quarter life crisis, I felt like I was meant to live in London, England. And for somebody who grew up in Ohio with a family that really never leaves Ohio, that was very strange. And that was definitely one of those moments where I did get some pushback, even from friends.” – Emily Williams “I didn't know any other way to live my life besides doing the things that I love.” – Emily Williams “There's this beautiful quote by Raymond Holliwell, and he talks about how following your desires is basically stepping into your fully expressed life, the fullest expression of you. And so I believe that when I continue to trust my heart, that's me being fully expressed.” – Emily Williams “Everything [you desire], big or small, just get it down on paper. Because the issue is most people can't even admit what they want to themselves.” – Emily Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? In the I Heart Life community, we are all about success. And I don't mean just financial success. If that's what makes you happy, then yes, sure, you do you! But to many others, me included, simply making money and creating wealth is not enough to fulfill our lives. Success means something different to each one of us, but we can all agree on one thing: It's not always easy to achieve. It demands hard work, many sacrifices, and a lot of patience. But, it happens! Someone who's gone through this and is still working towards becoming the best version of herself is this week's guest, the gorgeous, brilliant Alexi Panos. Alexi is a master coach and trainer. Her work is all about teaching other coaches how to work with people as whole humans, not just as a mindset. She is making strides in her industry and changing the game (for the better) for everyone around her. Alexi is a true pioneer, and I couldn't be more excited to have her over on the I Heart My Life show. Listen in as she and I discuss success, maintaining energy, alignment, motherhood, and everything in between. I hope you love this episode as much as I did! Tune in now. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:12] Alexi shares with us what it means to be a master coach [10:12] Alexi shares the biggest challenges she faced in her life [19:32] What you can do differently to stay more connected to your life partner [24:18] How Alexi and her husband achieved all of their amazing milestones [33:34] What is deserving of your time? [37:48] Alexi discusses the identity shifts that came from motherhood [43:06] The future plans in Alexi's world Quotes: “The truth is, if we can't be who we desire to be in the “now” moment with whatever life is giving us, we're not going to be that person when the circumstances are great either.” – Alexi Panos “We do so many things that the coaching industry is not even touching because we really saw a need for coaches to be fully equipped to work with a whole human and not just mindset, and not just talking about our past, but really working in the parts of the body that support the shape that we want to take on in the world.” – Alexi Panos “The biggest macro issue was being a female in a male dominated industry. It was so interesting, and so challenging, because I just didn't expect it. But I was constantly met with people not taking me seriously […] So that was a really big challenge. But what was interesting is it made me have to get over my own stories of smallness and my own stories of what it means to be a woman or a man in this industry and all my judgments.” – Alexi Panos “Preston and I both wanted to make each other happy. So we would put our needs aside to make the other person happy, to make sure they felt good, to make sure things were stabilized because stuff was busy. And in that people pleasing, there's withholding. And in that withholding, there's closure. And in that closure, there's disconnection, and in that disconnection, so much can happen.” – Alexi Panos “Preston and I always had coaches along the way, because we believe in it, obviously, we're in this industry. But your coach or your therapist can only take you as far as you're willing to be honest with yourself.” – Alexi Panos Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? In this week's episode of the I Heart My Life Show, I am off in baby world (yayyy!) so I leave you in the hands of one of my favorite people in the world (if not my favorite), my brilliant, loving husband, the amazing James Williams! James is a certified high performance coach, and today he's jumping in to discuss everything you need to know about resilience, self-love, and how to keep commitments to yourself! You see, many of us forget to foster the most important relationship there is, the one we have with ourselves. We can't neglect that relationship and expect to be happy or fulfilled in our lives. Just like everything that matters, we need to put in the work and make the efforts needed to foster and grow that bond we have with our inner selves. “Easier said than done,” you might think. And the truth is, you might actually be right… Which is why James will be sharing his tips with you today so you can learn to build that relationship and nurture it through self-love and resilience. Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:02] We should always strive to be better, and here's how we can achieve that [04:27] The one person who matters most is… [05:33] It's time to reflect back on your past mentors who have changed your life [11:32] Why self-belief matters! [17:11] Sharing practical tips you can use to learn to believe in yourself more [25:40] There's no such thing as a “too small” step forward, so keep moving forward! Quotes: “Life is full of obstacles, right? There will be plenty of obstacles as you work towards your goals, so don't be one of them.” – James Williams “We want to always try and improve upon what we've been doing. And one way to do that is to really look back and figure out what worked before and what we can improve now.” – James Williams “As we go forward in our life, there's one voice that we are going to be hearing every day. There's one person that we're going to spend more time with than anyone else. There's one person and only one person that actually has control over what we do next, why we do it, and whether we stick to it or not. And that one person is us.” – James Williams “The way that we mentor ourselves has a huge huge impact on the direction of our life.” – James Williams “If I think about the mentors that inspired me, the teachers, the old bosses that I had, even some of the friends that I had, one thing that they didn't do was make me feel obliged to succeed.” – James Williams “If you look at all human history, if your only motivation is fear of what might happen if you don't act, the moment that you see an opportunity to escape, you will.” – James Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Becoming a mother can change everything in your life. And I mean, everything. I would know, I'm currently pregnant and I have been getting ready for a whole new reality for the last few months. I haven't given birth yet and my life has already changed so much. I have new priorities and I now see things differently. So, suffice to say, I am excited (and a bit scared, let's be honest) about what changes will happen when my little girl is born. And because I'm always curious about these changes and love to talk to female entrepreneurs who are also mothers, in this week's episode of the I Heart My Life show, I invited the brilliant Natalie Ellis. Natalie is the original boss babe. She is a super successful entrepreneur who's been killing it for over a decade! Natalie is also a new mom, and today, she's here to discuss motherhood, identity shifts, why she started her new CEO Mama community, and more. **Trigger warning! If you're about to give birth or squeamish, this may not be the episode for you. Natalie did not have an easy birth and talks in detail about what happened.** Tune in for more! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:14] Natalie dives into her entrepreneurship journey and what she does now [04:52] Natalie shares the biggest challenges during her twenties [11:17] How becoming a mother changed everything for Natalie [13:46] Let's talk about pregnancy, birth, and the joys of motherhood! [18:45] How birth can be a portal and a transformative moment [23:21] Natalie discusses the initial chapter of motherhood [27:59] How pregnancy and motherhood inspire identity shifts Quotes: “My journey with entrepreneurship technically started when I was 13. I've always been very entrepreneurial. I feel like it was something I was born with, or learned at a very young age that it would be a great avenue for me. I loved entrepreneurship before I even knew there was a word to describe it.” – Natalie Ellis “As a third time founder, you know, having the luxury of not having to do everything myself from the beginning is interesting and it's a realm that I'm playing in.” – Natalie Ellis “Everything changed when I became a mom. Everything changed when my daughter was born.” – Natalie Ellis “Being willing to advocate for myself has led me to make those decisions now that I probably should have made earlier. And so now I'm in a place of really leaning into and leading with my truth and being okay with the fallout of that.” – Natalie Ellis “I executed multiple seven figure launches while I was pregnant. And I think part of me, if I get really honest with myself, wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, I wanted to prove to myself that I could be pregnant and I could still kill it at work. And now that I look back on it, you know, I don't have regrets, but I look back and think, ‘Okay, I would do things a little bit differently next time.'” – Natalie Ellis “Just because I grew up a certain way, didn't mean I need to live my life in a certain way.” – Natalie Ellis “Every time I've really reached a new level, it's been because I've been working on those upper limits, just acknowledging that they're there and thinking about what is it gonna look like to move past that limit.” – Natalie Ellis Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? A few weeks ago, my team and I sent out a survey to our community to ask them one (not so simple) question: What is the biggest challenge that you face in terms of reaching your desires and your goals? And the answers were… unsurprising, to say the least. Around 300 people filled the survey, and there were two answers that were overwhelmingly at the top: Financial reasons and lack of time. Many of us who can't reach our goals, whether they are fitness goals or career goals or relationship goals, etc… blame both lack of time and lack of money for that. However, this is a new year, and it's time to debunk that old belief! You see, it's not lack of time or lack of financial means that's holding you back… It's something else entirely. And as we enter 2023, I want you to be able to reach your goals and fulfill your New Year resolutions (come on, I know you have a list of those somewhere), so I'll share with you what's really keeping you from achieving everything you desire in life. Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:40] Let's talk about your goals… and what's keeping you from achieving them [02:55] Let's go through the form together [04:02] Think about what you desire the most in life [14:00] What would you do if you had all the time in the world? [17:21] It's time to look beneath the surface [22:30] “Don't let it hold you back!” Quotes: “Time and money aren't the real reasons why people aren't reaching their goals.” – Emily Williams “I would guess that most of the challenges that people are facing have to do with mindset, not lack of financial resources, not finding the time, not family, not health.” – Emily Williams “If you're feeling stretched financially, I would love for you to ask yourself a simple question: If you had all the money in the bank that you needed for this thing that you desire, what would your next step be? How would you put yourself out there? What decisions would you make? Because the truth is, it's never about the money.” – Emily Williams “A lot of people when I do money mindset work think that it's about just spending money aimlessly, not worrying about how you're spending your money, and being able to buy whatever you want. But the truth is, I don't feel like that's an actual healthy relationship with money. It's not a respect towards money. What I would love to see is for you to be considerate with how you're spending your money and your time, and really evaluate where it's going, and make sure it's in alignment with what it is that you actually want.” – Emily Williams “If your mind doesn't even know what you would do with the thing, why in the world would you attract the thing? I always say money needs a purpose. Do you think working together and starting a business as a couple is a good idea? Or is it a surefire way towards failure? Well, we don't really know the answer. Many couples work together and become the crazy successful power couples we all can only dream to be (I'm looking at you, Beyonce and Jay-Z). But many couples also work together and their partnership just doesn't work. And that ends up affecting their personal life. What I'm trying to say here is that there is really no right or wrong answer when it comes to this question. It's all about how willing the people are to work together and make the efforts needed for a healthy and professional partnership. Well, a couple that's really winning at this whole “Let's live together and work together and be super successful” thing is today's guests on the I Heart My Life podcast. They are Alana and Jared Mitchell, and together, they own a skincare business. Together, they also have children and a life and an 18-year old marriage. And today, they're here to tell us about how they started their business and grew it from a small spa room to $30 million dollars in sales! They'll also be talking about what it's like to work and live together, why they chose the skincare industry, how their business grew over the years, and more. Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:54] Alana and Jared introduce themselves and their businesses [09:06] Alana and Jared explain the mains steps they took to go from selling one product to selling 400 products [20:56] Jared shares what their definition of success and wealth is [26:13] If you had a do-over, what would you do differently? Alana and Jared answer! [32:31] Alana and Jared share how you can know if your business has staying power [39:12] Alana and Jared's top tips for people who are running a brand and parenting Quotes: “I had to really figure out, at a time where it wasn't popular and no one knew it, how to advertise on Google and Yahoo.” – Jared Mitchell “We have boundaries that we subscribe to. We don't talk about work at home unless we have a designated time. You know, it's just not like work, work, work, work, work. Once we're home, [it's all about] family.” – Alana Mitchell “Respect each other and understand [each other's] work styles.” – Alana Mitchell “I always try to remind myself to speak to [Jared] just like you would any co-worker with respect and kindness.” – Alana Mitchell “Something we did a long time ago that I thought was really helpful is we redefined how we define success and wealth. And once we started doing that, we realized that we're incredibly rich.” – Jared Mitchell “Even back in the 20s, women would save up and do what they could and to get their mascara. So yeah, the beauty industry does well, even in a recession.” – Alana Mitchell Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Here at I Heart My Life, we are all about transformation. We all want to transform into better people, better parents, better friends, better partners, better entrepreneurs… And many think this transformation has to come from the outside world. Maybe once they get the perfect job or they meet the right person or have children, their life will change for the better and they will get everything they've ever wanted? Well today, I'm here to tell you… Not so fast! Because yes, transformation can happen, but it never comes from the outside. Instead, the transformation that truly matters, the one that helps you achieve the life of your dreams, comes from within. Someone who knows much more about this than I do (and believe me, he knows a lot about the art of transforming your life) is this week's guest, the brilliant Dr. Steven Young. Steven has an incredible backstory. His childhood wasn't easy. There was domestic abuse in his home, and once his parents separated, he lived in poverty with his mom. As a teenager, his life wasn't a healthy one, and he suffered from depression. But one day, something just clicked in his mind and he decided it was high time he made some changes. Listen in as Steven and I discuss this and more, such as his own transformational path, the importance of changing the words and language we use, what updating your identity means, how he transformed his life financially, and more. This was a riveting conversation and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:07] Steven shares his backstory with us [05:10] How Steven started transforming from the inside out [11:43] The stories and experiences that made Steven a believer [13:33] Steven explains how it all works [16:15] The first steps you need to make to transform your life [19:51] How Steven transformed his life financially [22:04] What updating your identity looks like [26:14] Steven discusses the deeper work he does with people [30:49] The next step after desire [34:51] How Steven stays in a place of knowing and being connected to his higher self [39:11] Do we need our egos? [45:13] How to truly transform your finances [49:15] Steven on letting go of your attachments [53:48] One way you can create a life that's better than your dreams Quotes: “My job is to use ancient wisdom and new technologies, bridging them together to help people wherever they are on this scale to essentially move up on this scale, and realize that we're absolutely these divine beings.” – Dr. Steven Young “I tell most people that our pains and our difficulties in life can be the greatest gifts.” – Dr. Steven Young “It's important for people to realize that our traditional medical system and medical schools, whether it be physical medicine or mind medicine, were energetically and financially based on oil profits.” – Dr. Steven Young “I believe that many of our molecules are entangled. And so what that means is however we vibrate and feel, we can affect with our mind and intention and entangle with someone else's molecule and affect their molecule.” – Dr. Steven Young “You need to start being very mindful of your words. And don't try to change every word, but pick a handful that you think and say that you recognize don't serve you, and then start to shift them.” – Dr. Steven Young “I tell people: Any mass media words, like the most common words the media uses, question them.” – Dr. Steven Young Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? You know when sometimes things don't go your way and you just want to scream into your pillow? Yeah, that sucks. It sucks soooooo much that you get angry and frustrated and you want to scream and shout (and let it all out, as a certain musician has said before). Well, I'm here to tell you that there is noooothing wrong with those feelings. In fact, I'd even wager it's pretty good to let them out in a healthy way and fully embrace them. But hey, don't take my word for it! Instead, take the word of this week's guest on the podcast, the brilliant Neeta Bhushan. If Neeta's name sounds familiar to you, that's because it's not her first time on the I Heart My Life podcast (so thank you for being a faithful listener)! She's been here before, and today, she's back to discuss her incredible new book, “That Sucked, Now What?” and other fun stuff, such as the challenges life throws at us, why she chose her life's mission, her frameworks, and more. We'll also be talking all about the importance of emotional health, why learning to become resilient is crucial for all of us, and why she wrote her book. Are you ready? Let's dive in! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:39] Neeta shares her work and her story with us [04:51] Neeta explains how chaos and joy can go together [12:16] Why people are uncomfortable with emotions and vulnerability [18:54] Here's the thing about “That Sucked, Now What?” [21:56] How to express your emotions in a deeper way [30:53] Here's where you can buy Neeta's book, “That Sucked, Now What?” Quotes: “I have had, I feel like, many lives and I am such an advocate for emotional health. And in the intersection of how grit and resilience plays a role into our lives, as well as into our next seasons of life.” – Neeta Bhushan “[My book] has honestly been a labor of love over the course of, probably, ever since I shifted into motherhood.” – Neeta Bhushan “My coping mechanism was toxic positivity. And I'm a very enthusiastic, positive person. And I didn't allow myself to go there. I didn't allow myself to feel until I had no place to hide it anymore, when it was just like, oozing out of my face in every direction. Because that's when you know, the big breakdown needed to happen in order to start healing.” – Neeta Bhushan “Another component of the bounce factor is leaning into discomfort, and leaning into discomfort creates your new environment.” – Neeta Bhushan “We're so good at teaching our kids, if you have a sucky moment, scream into the pillow, but do it with them. Or if you don't have kids, just go into a closet and go and scream into the pillow, because that pent up anger and frustration is going to turn into resentment, passive aggressiveness, and other emotions that we really don't want festering because then it pours into people that are closest to us.” – Neeta Bhushan Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? What is desire? Is it the need to have something? Is it simply a want? Or is it something even more powerful than that? Whatever it is, it rules our lives, whether we like it or not. Desire; desire to be better, to do better, to have more, and to make more, is what helps many of us deal with the ups and downs of life. Desire is hope. The hope that everything will eventually work out and we will achieve whatever it is we want in our life. As my favorite quote by Raymond Holliwell goes, “True desire represents the urge of life, seeking a fuller expression and is kept alive by the continuous expectation of its fulfillment. It brings to us the ways and means for its manifestations. The principle explains no desire is felt until the supply is ready to appear. No mind can be conscious of a need or a desire unless the possibility of its fulfillment already exists.” This quote has been guiding my life every single day for the last few years. It's helped me shift my mindset in ways that nothing else ever has. It's helped me manifest more of what I desire in my life. It's helped me get out of fear and doubt, and move forward even when it seems like things aren't working. And more importantly, it's helped me learn to trust my heart and what I'm being called to do or have. Listen in as I break down this quote and everything that it entails. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:44] Sharing my favorite quote with you [02:25] “True desire represents the urge of life, seeking a fuller expression.” [06:46] Do you feel the calling? Then believe that the supply is there! [12:27] Circling back quickly to how true desire is kept alive [17:05] The one thing I invite you to do today Quotes: “When you operate with the belief that you wouldn't even be aware of the desire unless the possibility of its fulfillment already existed, that changes the game, that changes everything. Then you get to the place where it's like, “You know what doubt and fear? I'm not even going to entertain you because I know that you're not truth.” – Emily Williams “So many people are embarrassed by their desires, ashamed by their desires, feel like they're not worthy of what it is that they want, but true desire is literally about the urge of life seeking a fuller expression. So your desires are leading you towards your fully expressed life.” – Emily Williams “Sometimes the ‘how' gets in the way. People have a desire to build a business, to improve their health, to find love, whatever it may be, to grow their wealth, create financial abundance, and yet, they don't know how to make it happen.” – Emily Williams “When you have a desire, you're actually already energetically aligned with it. Otherwise, you wouldn't even be aware of it.” – Emily Williams “I want to really make it clear that sometimes it takes time to manifest something in your life, especially something like a thriving business. Of course, I believe in the power of the universe. But I also believe that there are building blocks that you have to put in place and steps that you have to take in order to reach a result.” – Emily Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Everyone talks about spirituality and how connecting with your inner self is all about growth, but what do these words truly mean? After all, we all want to grow. We all want to be better people, better spouses, better friends, better parents, better siblings, better… everything. But how do we achieve that goal? We can't just wake up one day and find ourselves elevated to a higher spiritual realm. No, all of this needs work. Work on the inside and work on the outside. It needs a deep understanding of the forces around us and the powers that rule our daily lives. And most importantly, it needs us to be all right with asking for help from someone who understands all of this much better than we do. Well, today, I'll be interviewing that someone on I Heart My Life. I hope you're ready, because this is going to be a doozy! This week's guest is Sahara Rose. Sahara is a brilliant woman whose work is all about helping people like you and me discover their soul's purpose, or dharma, and activate their fullest expression so they can live a better, more joyful life. To Sahara, we were all born with a sacred purpose on this planet, and hers is to remind us of just that. Listen in as Sahara and I talk about the meaning of dharma, transforming your body and mind, her journey, the meaning of “sacred feminine,” the power behind her success, and more. This has been a riveting conversation and I can't wait for you to get to know this amazing woman! Tune in now. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:19] Sahara discusses her spiritual and personal growth journey from before she was born [10:15] How Sahara healed her body with Ayurveda and got her period, and her life, back [21:37] Sahara explains her mindset around roadblocks and challenges [29:43] How to get yourself back in flow according to Sahara [35:03] The different types of doshas and how they relate to your dharma [40:33] Do you want to be creating content? [44:20] Sahara explains how she cultivated her confidence Quotes: “I didn't really do anything with spirituality for over a decade, until my early twenties when I got into yoga. And through yoga, I started to dive deeper into the mind and body connection.” – Sahara Rose “What I've learned is that living your dharma is actually integrating your highest point of joy with your highest point of service, because if it's coming from joy, you're naturally going to have that energy to follow through and stay energized when times get hard.” – Sahara Rose “A lot of people think karma is just ‘what goes around comes around.' But karma actually means bounded action by the universe to keep you in alignment with your dharma.” – Sahara Rose “The number one tip I would recommend is to tune into your visionary self, stand for a message, stand for a cause that's greater than you, and gain clarity in your voice. Because the truth is, if we are just repeating what we've heard, we're never going to get our ultimate level of abundance.” – Sahara Rose “The more you can refine your voice and have your own stories and be clear in your unique message, the higher levels of abundance are naturally going to unlock because you are irreplaceable.” – Sahara Rose “All I do know is that here I am, I have freedom, I have these gifts, I have this voice. So it's up to me to decide what I want to do from it.” – Sahara Rose “Our doshas are related to our dharma. Your mind body type is related to your purpose. You were born with this combination because it's part of your purpose.” – Sahara Rose “I believe confidence happens as a result of doing things that you're proud of.” – Sahara Rose Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? The beginning of a journey, whether it's starting a business or having a child or getting in a relationship, is always the hardest. That first step is the most important, and for many of us, the most difficult. It takes courage, it takes work, and most importantly, it takes getting rid of self-doubt and trusting yourself. I've done it. I got married, I started a business, and I am about to cross a whole new threshold and become a mother. All of these things were scary when I first dipped my toe in the water. I had to deal with my mindset blocks and work on myself to learn that I was capable of achieving anything I put my mind into. Someone else who's had a similar journey is this week's guest, the fantastic Nikki Elledge Brown. Nikki is a brilliant copywriter, a self-proclaimed word nerd, a business owner, and a mother. I have been a fan of her and her work (her branding is just amaaaazing) for years and years now, and I've always been curious about how her journey started and how she made it to where she is today. Which is why, today, she and I discuss just that! Listen in as Nikki and I talk about building a business, coming full circle, motherhood, overcoming mindset blocks, and more. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:16] Nikki talks about how she started her business journey [06:43] How to own every side of yourself [13:31] Breaking the mindset challenges [20:06] Nikki talks coming full circle in her business [32:02] How internal pressure can stop you from becoming the person you're meant to be [35:45] Tips to run your own Naptime Empire from Nikki [42:23] Nikki shares with us what truly motivates her Quotes: “When I started my business in 2013, almost ten years ago, which does feel like multiple digital lifetimes ago, it was all about helping people say what they really wanted to say.” – Nikki Elledge Brown “If you can own both sides [of yourself], and know that that is what makes you whole, that is what makes you human, and same for everyone else on this planet, then you're not as shakable and you don't get activated so quickly, you're just more steady, because it's like yes, and you can own it. And it's not right or wrong. It's just who you are.” – Nikki Elledge Brown “For me, what I'm finding really inspiring is working with women, leaders who have lots of things to say. They know they have a book in them, or a podcast, or some form of expression, but they've got stuff around it. And they know on the other side of owning it and popping that cork, they're gonna feel more of themselves. [And] I wanna help with that.” – Nikki Elledge Brown “So [my work] is like self actualization, but make it verbal creation.” – Nikki Elledge Brown “I like to think of humanity as a big puzzle, and we each have our own unique shape to contribute.” – Nikki Elledge Brown “I genuinely believe that the greatest gift and contribution that you make to humankind, and that includes the humans who are living in your household, is to be who you actually are.” – Nikki Elledge Brown Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Starting a business or launching a new product has never been easier. Getting people to buy your product, on the other hand, has never been harder. Every single day, more and more brands pump new products into the market. It is truly saturated, which is why very few startups make it longer than a couple of years before they have to close shop. However, not every new product is a fail. Some make a killing, and that is thanks to a few things: A good marketing strategy, a great product, the right expertise, and a whole lotta luck. To talk about this, I invited the brilliant minds behind The Product Boss, the amazing Minna Khounlo-Sithep and Jacqueline Snyder. Both first generation Americans and both entrepreneurs at heart, Minna and Jacqueline are two amazing women who came up with one genius idea: To start a company that helps other people take their product-based businesses to the next level! They created The Product Boss out of their own struggles of trying to reach product-based dreams and goals, but feeling lost in a world of service-based advice and strategy. If you own a product-based business, then you know exactly what struggles they mean. Listen in as Minna, Jacqueline, and I discuss everything you need to know to take your product-based business to the next level. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:15] You can make anything out of nothing [09:30] Minna and Jacqueline share the difference they see between running a product-based business and running a service-based business [16:23] Do you know when to give it a shot? [21:18] How collaboration can lead to expansion in the world of product-based businesses [25:41] Minna and Jacqueline share their biggest challenges [33:24] Jacqueline and Minna discuss the mindset blocks they are dealing with [38:07] Minna and Jacqueline's secrets into tapping into their potential [47:40] Top tips for mompreneurs [52:05] Why the future is exciting for Minna and Jacqueline Quotes: “During me launching over a thousand fashion brands for my clients, designing, developing, producing, and helping them from scratch, I had decided to start my own two [product] lines, one was an apparel company and one was an accessories company.” – Jacqueline Snyder “I always say that we're very lucky that we ended up having the same values, because we kind of landed upon this business.” – Minna Khounlo-Sithep “Product business, in my opinion, is the loneliest. It requires a community around you, because it's really hard to get that encouragement to reinvest again and again and again.” – Minna Khounlo-Sithep “What got us here is going to be different than what gets us to a $10 million plus business.” – Jacqueline Snyder “You can always make more money, you can't make more time.” – Minna Khounlo-Sithep Links & Resources: Get The Product Boss Ultimate Resource Guide: http://www.theproductboss.com/iheartmylife Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Marriage is sacred. It is the purest expression of commitment between two people. Getting married means sharing your joy, your sadness, and your life with someone else. It means welcoming that person with open hands and an open heart and forming a family together. And most importantly, it means being willing to work together to build something bigger and brighter than you are. A decade ago I made a decision, and said yes to all of this. Or at least, I said “I do.” I married James and I never looked back. Today though, he and I will be looking back, as we celebrate our ten year marriage anniversary –I know, it sounds like a lot, but it truly isn't–. Listen in as today James and I share the ten most important lessons we've learned during our ten years of marriage. From the importance of goofy moments in a marriage (it's time to embrace the silliness!) to why being your authentic self can help you maintain a healthy relationship, we'll discuss it all! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:10] James shares the story of how we met [06:13] Here's to silliness! [08:59] Why honestly in a marriage is crucial [14:59] Here's why going to bed angry with each other is never a good idea [16:54] You need to be fulfilled to be a good partner [18:58] This isn't a solo game, you're a team! [21:43] Always remember: It's okay to do things differently [29:43] There is a difference between spending time together and being present with one another Quotes: “I had moved to London about a year before [James and I met], just completely on a whim, and I didn't know anyone there, I just felt like I was meant to live there. And obviously, as fate would have it, we met online.” – Emily Williams “What it was for me, and I don't think I was conscious about it at the time, but looking back, it was that Emily and I have something in common, and that is that we both kind of go against the grain of what those that knew us would have assumed we do.” – James Williams “When you first meet someone, obviously, it's quite surface level things you're looking for, you know. someone who you're attracted to, someone that has similar ideals, right? But I can honestly say, as I am reflecting on the things I love the most about Emily, it's those times where Emily is completely and utterly vulnerable and open with me, which often looks like the goofy side.” – James Williams “The first lesson that I want to share is to always be honest about what you need [with your partner].” – Emily Williams “People say that relationships are all about compromise. And I get what they're trying to say there, but I do think it's possible for both of us to live our authentic lives, to be honest, to put ourselves first, and still have an amazing relationship.” – Emily Williams “There is a difference between spending time together and being present with one another.” – James Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Our brains are what makes us human and differentiates us from other primates. They're big, they're heavy, and they are as complex as the universe itself. They are also constantly changing and evolving. So it's safe to say that learning as much as we can about the human brain is never a bad idea. After all, our neurological makeup controls much of who we are and what we do… or so some would say. But in today's episode, I've invited a specialist of the brain, the brilliant Dr. Philippe Douyon, who does not believe in this inevitability. Dr. Douyon is a Board Certified Neurologist who helps high-performance individuals and business leaders crack the code to hacking the most powerful tool at our disposal… you've guessed it, the human brain! In this episode, he and I will be discussing the many interesting facets of the human brain, what neuroplasticity is, how the brain changes and evolves over time, how to rewire our brains for better performance (and a better life), and more. Dr. Douyon will also be busting the prevalent myth that we're victims to our neurological makeup (which is something I'm super excited for). Are you ready to have your mind blown (pun intended)? Tune in now! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [00:39] Dr. Douyon introduces himself [03:08] Here's what “neuroplasticity” means [08:45] Dr. Douyon tells us how we can use our brains to create the life of our dreams [15:49] Here's how you can increase your dopamine levels [24:11] How to keep a positive frame of mind when science is not on your side [26:48] Wondering what you can do to rewire your brain? Here are a few practical tips for you! [32:10] Dr. Douyon's thoughts on education [34:46] “Am I actually rewiring my brain?” [38:27] Learn more about Dr. Douyon's book Quotes: “Neuroplasticity is really about how the brain changes, how it adapts, how it learns, [and] how it heals from injury. And it really speaks to the fact that our brains are constantly making new neurons and new connections.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon “There are decisions that we can make every single day that influence how our brains change. And that's incredibly powerful. The reality is that if our brains are constantly changing, that means that we're capable of changing as individuals, as communities, and as a society.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon “Just like we have to be mindful about what we feed our bodies, we also have to be mindful about what we're taking into our brain.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon “One of the biggest myths when it comes to Alzheimer's disease is that it's not a lifestyle issue. The reality is, it's very much a lifestyle issue. If people are eating poorly, if they have poor sleeping habits, if they don't exercise, they're more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon “For business owners, for entrepreneurs, for professionals, it's so important that we are constantly learning [because] that learning process allows our brains to make new neurons and new connections.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon “In order for you to stop a habit that's not healthy for you, you have to be motivated to do it.” – Dr. Philippe Douyon Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Have you ever thought about your spirit like a source, a potent energy full of divine wisdom? If you haven't, allow us to refresh your perspective a bit. Spirituality is intertwined with the human experience, and currently making its comeback through media and business. And because it's re-emerging amidst the age of hustle culture, we're now able to address our spiritual burnout more than ever. Your body, mind, and soul are all connected, so if you learn to work with them on a deeper level... your healing (and possibilities) become abundant. Which is exactly what Dr. Erin discovered on her pursuit of truth, healing, and alignment! Dr. Erin, also known as the Doctor of Divinity, is a multifaceted guru in her own right. After suffering a stillbirth in her early twenties, she was spiritually broke— and seeking to create her own wealth. Now she's made it her mission to educate the masses on the energetics of trauma to heighten our healing at the soul level. It's through her top-rated podcast, best-seller books and coaching programs that she bridges the gap between science, spirituality, and psychology to cultivate something extraordinary… And right here on the IHML Show! In this episode, Dr. Erin and I investigate the many facets of spiritual and traditional psychology that inspired her creation of the E4 Trauma Method. Dr. Erin is also delving into intergenerational trauma, exciting things to come in her business, how to transform your trauma and discover your soul's purpose! Dr. Erin's work has cultivated a new paradigm of inner work that enriches the human experience as it wholly deserves. This woman's magnificent mind, warmth, and vibrancy is a great reminder that you can overcome anything... all you have to do is put a little soul into it! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:25] Dr. Erin kicks the conversation off by taking us back to how she chose her path! [03:51] This is how Dr. Erin got closer to fulfillment after her many wakeup calls. [06:46] How to start deep inner work blocking your manifestations, according to Dr. Erin! [10:57] Dr. Erin dives into deeper detail regarding trauma work utilizing her own methods as well as others. [13:14] Why you can't keep what you don't give away, according to Dr. Erin... [14:21] Dr. Erin addresses the big buzz around intergenerational trauma, and how she herself overcame it in her own family dynamic. [21:40] This is how (and why) you should be more conscious of how you serve your relationships. [25:29] Dr. Erin harps on the identity shifts that organically occur in the journey of parenthood. [27:13] Did you know trauma can have an impact on your wealth creation? Dr. Erin draws distinct connections, and how you can move through those blocks! [29:17] Dr. Erin gushes about the exciting things to come in her business. [32:53] This is the doctor's order for how to create a life better than your dreams! Quotes: “I was 30 and I had this moment of like, ‘Hey, I'm a millionaire, but I'm too unfulfilled.' I was living a double life. I was literally trying to live the life that the world told me I was supposed to live.” — Dr. Erin “Doing your trauma work is for sure the most important thing, because your soul's calling is your soul. Until you have done your soul's work, you won't know your true soul's calling.” — Dr. Erin “You need to surround yourself in an environment of people that are holding you in truth and that are doing their work so that you can stay in that frequency.” — Dr. Erin “We can have these spiritual things, but we need to deal with the actual DNA and the subconscious work.” — Dr. Erin “It's not what happens to you. It's what happens within you.” — Dr. Erin “I'm doing work for the collective in my trauma work. I'm doing work for my lineage and things like that. And that's why I do service every day.” — Dr. Erin “Love if you wanna experience love, [but] you can't fully have love unless you are the expression of love and you give love away.” — Dr. Erin “In order to be fully free in this lifetime and fully empowered, we need to be fully free and empowered in those [parental] relationships.” — Dr. Erin “So of course having a non-judgment, practicing non-judgment is for sure the number one thing, unconditional love to yourself. Because think about that, don't you wanna teach your child unconditional love? If they don't see you unconditionally loving yourself, they're not gonna learn unconditional love. If our children don't see us unconditionally loving ourselves, they won't be able to unconditionally love themselves.” — Dr. Erin “We're not our status. We're not our bank account status. We're not even our bodies. We're not the circumstances. We're not even our beliefs. We're actually the creator of all of it.” — Dr. Erin “I believe we're kind of all born for particular expressions, if you will. And for me, when I'm most in that genius zone is generally in person.” — Dr. Erin Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? For many people, bearing the weight of the world can feel heavy and almost never-ending. As a society, we've been conditioned to do so much: push through, focus on the next best thing, and seldom stop to take in the moment. But just imagine if we were given the tools, time, and space to embrace our journey and focus on the deeper feelings that mold it. Entertain that reality in your mind… because it can be yours! And way sooner than you might believe… Working in the coaching and entrepreneurial space has opened me up to the ever-evolving world of mindset work. Even before I launched my own business, I always sought to cultivate alignment in my life. So over the years, I've made it a point to address it in my ongoing conversations with both colleagues and friends. Which, you can imagine, was beyond eye-opening for me and everyone I've worked with… This is why this week's IHML Show is all about the recent transformational mindset hacks that I'm implementing. I'm sharing the three mindset shifts I'm currently leaning into and why they're crucial to my current reality. I'll also be sharing the questions and affirmations I've found most helpful in my mindset journey, despite all the societal conditioning that counters them. It's my mission, as well as I Heart My Life's, to candidly embrace the human experience so we could make it better. In This Episode: [00:00] My 3 mindset shifts [01:34] Emily shares the first big shift she's been leaning into (thanks to an amazing previous guest). [07:01] Save your seat for my Love Your Life Masterclass [08:00] How the feeling of relief can drastically shift your mindset, thanks to Emily and her powerful conversations with colleagues. [12:20] This is the three-word statement that's empowered Emily's mindset. [14:32] For those feeling the weight of the world right now, Emily has this super amazing mindset challenge for you (and some helpful advice)… Quotes: “I've been tuning into both of those questions: How do you wanna feel and what do you wanna embody?” — Emily Williams “When we take it one step further, it makes it much easier to make decisions that are gonna be in alignment with the goals that we have.” — Emily Williams “Tune in to what word really feels aligned for you and go past that initial excitement point if that's kind of where you're landing at the moment because there's something deeper on the other side.” — Emily Williams “When you tune into relief and it's like a breath, a sigh of relief, right? Our shoulders automatically go down and [we] feel less stressed. There's less anxiety in our bodies when we tune into that. And [when] we ask ourselves that question, it opens up so many doors and a level of awareness that we might not have had before.” — Emily Williams “A big theme of today's episode is really you tuning in and trusting your intuition. Just giving yourself the time and space to even ask these questions of success and going to the next level, and you becoming the best version of yourself and creating more joy and happiness is about personal awareness.” — Emily Williams “We're moving so quickly as a society that we don't let ourselves tune in to what the reality actually is and what we truly need. But the amazing thing is, our body will tell us.” — Emily Williams “When we tune in and we give ourselves the time and the space, it can bring about such awareness that it enables us to be crystal clear. And then we can make decisions from that place.” — Emily Williams “So many people are struggling at this point in time and are nervous about what's coming in the world. And we can get so overwhelmed with the current reality and forget that we are doing great.” — Emily Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? What if I were to tell you that your imagination may be what's holding you back from the infinite breadth of possibility... and there's no one “right path” for you to follow? I know that may sound counterproductive to everything you've been taught about creating and manifesting, but it's part of today's conversation on IHML. What you believe about yourself and your desires is only going to frame you, not free you. In order to fully experience life, you have to open yourself to all of it. That total and complete surrender might sound terrifying, impossible even, but it's not. For wellbeing creator and transformational artist Dorota Stanczyk, releasing everything she believed (and wanted) was the key to her second (and most abundant) life chapter. Dorota Stanczyk comes from a rich line of healers. Her family possesses various gifts, ranging from clairvoyance to being mediums. And although Dorota knew exactly where she came from, she rejected that part of her in every sense. So much so she acquired a debilitating autoimmune disease. It took complete surrender to her illness, repressed trauma, and self-rejection to reconnect with her body... and in turn, her sense of self. Now, Dorota has made it her mission to utilize her love of creativity, fine art and personal growth to create informative exhibitions that showcase a new paradigm of living. Her work with celebrities, high-performance technology, and even being a Creative Director has taken the world by storm— including us here at I Heart My Life! I had such a transformative experience with Dorota myself that I felt utterly compelled to bring her onto the IHML Show. This week on the IHML Show, Dorota is taking us through her personal journey with complete surrender. Not only is she sharing her secrets to attracting abundance and healing her own autoimmune disease, but the transformational shifts she experienced to do so! Plus, Dorota tells us about her book (Re)create Yourself and how to release emotions trapped in the body. If you thought you knew everything you needed to create your dream life... prepare to have your mind blown! Dorota's creativity, wisdom, and potent spiritual powers are going to send you positively spiraling! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:01] Dorota delves into her deep lineage of healers, and her early introductions to the world of energy work. [02:49] What did Dorota experience in the early brewings of her gifts? She tells us! [06:39] This is how Dorota's tumultuous family dynamic ultimately helped her embrace her undeniable power. [14:03] Dorota dives into what she means when she lets go of everything, and describes what the complexity of full acceptance looks like in her life. [19:50] How to put yourself in a state of receiving abundance, according to Dorota! [24:52] For those of you asking how to raise your vibes, Dorota has advice for you... [31:44] Dorota takes us back to the start of her second chapter, and how she evolved as a healer and author. [37:27] Why you shouldn't be afraid of change— according to Dorota! [39:25] Dorota shares her philosophy on releasing emotions trapped in your body. [46:07] How Dorota healed her autoimmune disease. [48:58] Dorota spills deets on her upcoming book, and where to find it [51:36] What to do to create a life better than your dreams, in the wise words of Dorota. Quotes: “Whenever I enter someone's aura, I receive some sort of mood board. So I can literally look at, feel the person and almost have a visual representation of that person's life. And that's a very beautiful gift because every time I even walk in a park, I will meet someone's aura. It's like this constant movie that's projected and given to me, and it took me years to learn to use that and to use that well.” — Dorota Stanczyk “When I started to meditate, it was like coming back home. It was like, I knew that it wasn't something I was doing for the first time. And on the first day I detached from my physical body, I could re-experience my body. I was re-experiencing the energies.” — Dorota Stanczyk “I had to be pushed to the rock bottom. I had to be pushed to completely break and fall completely apart in order to do that in order to surrender. Because when you live and grew up in so little safety of an environment, what happens to you? You learn to control your environment. You learn to control yourself in order to build that sense of security, that sense of safety. By trying to control yourself and your life, you judge that a certain way is the right way for you.” — Dorota Stanczyk (14:25- 15:06) “Every path is the right path, because every path will eventually lead you to reconnection to yourself. You can make this path longer, you can make it more painful. You can make it more complicated, but every way is the right way, right there.” — Dorota Stanczyk “So we should never judge this experience as better or good, because maybe this experience is the perfect experience we are supposed to go through in that specific moment.” — Dorota Stanczyk (16:45 - 16:54) “And there is, you know, a lot of different philosophies saying, ‘you need to feel the energy of, of whatever you are desiring. You need to feel the abundance you need to feel love.' And it's partially true. It definitely helps to feel a whole [feeling], I would say. Don't even go specific, because from a place of whole, you will attract absolutely everything.” — Dorota Stanczyk “I focused mostly on being in the state of receiving and not any longer on even manifesting or creating, because I assume that whatever I am imagining is right for me, I can't possibly know if that thing is truly right for me.” — Dorota Stanczyk “You are the magnet that is constantly attracting things to you.” — Dorota Stanczyk “When you quiet your mind, you allow yourself to drop to the state of presence. The state of being present is the state of your highest vibration.” — Dorota Stanczyk “So the easiest way to see how much you're evolving is to see what is changing in your physical reality. That is only in extension of you. So, you know, clearly if you are magnetizing towards those people at that level, you've done the work and you are ready to resonate in that level, which is beautiful. Right?” — Dorota Stanczyk “Before I release an emotion, I am checking exactly where the emotions are trapped and I'm working by intention.” — Dorota Stanczyk “It strips you, it undresses you from who you think you are to allow you to recreate yourself completely new from the place of a curiosity and unconditional love for yourself. And it's really all the practices that, at least for me, really set me free.” — Dorota Stanczyk, about her new book (Re)create Yourself “Your imagination is your greatest limit because you can't imagine what you don't know. You can't imagine what is not familiar. So let go of your dreams and let life design your reality.” — Dorota Stanczyk - (51:40 - 51:57) Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? Pregnancy is a big part of a mother's journey. It has its ups and downs, and it is filled with incredible memories. However, not all is always so bright and happy for pregnant women. Sometimes, you just find yourself lost and overwhelmed by everything that comes with the experience. Those feelings are perfectly natural. Women go through a lot of changes, physical and mental, during pregnancy, and when they don't have the help they need, it can be a pretty daunting experience. Which is why women like Melissa Ambrosini are a godsend! Melissa is a proud mama, author, and podcaster. She is brilliant and beautiful, and today, she's here to help women like you and me (because, as I've announced a few episodes ago, I am pregnant!!) have a blissful pregnancy by teaching them how to prepare for this unique experience. Her business is all about helping future mamas learn about conscious conception, love their bodies and the changes that happen to it during pregnancy, and truly enjoy those nine months of bliss. Listen in as she and I discuss this and more, such as how to have an empowered birth, the secrets to conscious parenting, and how to let go of fears around pregnancy and birth. In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:45] Melissa talks about the work that's led her to where she is today. [10:33] Conscious conception - What is it? And how does it work? Melissa shares all the secrets today! [17:26] Here's what a blissful pregnancy looks like. [29:25] Melissa's very own birth story. [40:47] How birth changes things behind the scenes. [43:52] What you need to know about Melissa's Wholy Mama program. [46:59] How to create a life that's better than your dreams according to Melissa. Quotes: “I began on my conscious conception journey [when I first met my husband] because I knew that one day, we would have a baby. And when that feeling within me ignited, it literally flicked in overnight, I woke up the next morning, and I turned to my husband and I said, ‘I'm ready'.” – Melissa Ambrosini “The body is a very important piece [in conscious conception] because it's the vessel and the vehicle that the baby resides in for that period of time. So it's really important that our vehicle is healthy and thriving.” – Melissa Ambrosini “The more preparation that you do during your pregnancy for birth, the better.” – Melissa Ambrosini “When we look at any fears that are coming up beforehand, we can then go into the birth present, and allow whatever experience is meant to unfold to unfold.” – Melissa Ambrosini “My birth was the most expansive, beautiful, stretching, physically and metaphorically, experience. When I think back to my birth, I am so proud of myself.” – Melissa Ambrosini “Your birthing team is so important because birth is a very intimate experience. It's one of the most sacred and precious and intimate moments of your life. You've got to feel safe, and you've got to feel private, and you've got to feel uninhibited. The biggest breakthroughs ensue when you surrender to your feeling(s). Yes, even the negative ones. Basking in the bad feels, instead of bypassing them, might just be the key to overcoming your greatest setbacks and difficulties. Why? Because your most negative feelings, physical or otherwise, are trying to tell you what you need to hear most: you are strong and capable of withstanding anything. Feelings, both positive and negative, are embodiments of our intuition. So when we ignore the pain of a bad back injury or can't admit that our marriage is failing, we aren't following our knowing. And in turn, limiting our beliefs that we can experience vibrant, larger-than-life opportunities. So when Skip Kelly was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build his own brand in public speaking, he knew he wasn't ready. He knew there was so much more inside him just waiting to be released, so that he could return to this opportunity (or one similar) with the wisdom, grace and fulfillment he knew was integral to his message. Skip Kelly is not your average podcast host. He's cultivated a multi-faceted movement that prioritizes mindfulness, mindset, and most importantly belief. After a grueling back injury at the age of eighteen, he gathered as much knowledge as possible to heal himself. In the midst of this journey, he discovered a magical practice: The art of surrender. By facing his pain and conflicting emotions head-on, he realized that attuning to his instincts bridged the gap between his beliefs and actions. Before he knew it, he was teaching the masses! It's time to lean into your intuition and listen to the secrets it whispers back to you. And if you're ready to learn how to do so, then this IHML Show episode is perfect for you! In this episode, I have Skip Kelly on as an amazing guest to talk about his work, what is fulfillment, how we can heal through surrender, and the beauty behind our struggles. Skip is showing up with nothing but true vulnerability, wisdom, and insight that'll inspire you like never before! Believe me, I know how scary it is to face the fears fueling your feelings. But if there's anything Skip and I want you to remember from our time together, it's this: The unknown is full of profound surprises and the possibility that you might find what you're looking for. In This Episode: [01:17] Skip shows us around the pivotal twists and turns that brought him into his work. [05:38] What is fulfillment? Skip breaks it down, and how it inspires his podcast! [09:52] How a grueling back injury implored Skip to heal himself— from the inside out. [13:00] Skip shares how he brought his knowledge of healing to the masses! [16:58] Listen to Skip harp on the importance of belief and mindset in his work... and whether or not people don't want to heal subconsciously. [18:48] Skip circles us back to the very essence of his work and how his podcast, program, and practices emulate his impact. [25:57] The art of surrender, as described by Skip and Emily. [29:38] This is how Skip moves through fear and insecurity within his big visions! [34:02] Skip frames *this* particular mindset eloquently and effectively. [35:47] And of course, we ask Skip: What's the secret to a life better than your dreams? Quotes: “Eventually he [Eric Bostick] offered to build my own brand so that I could sell my own speaking stuff and be on the road with him. And I actually said no to that. I don't know where that wisdom came from at the time, but I just knew that I needed to get more life experiences so that I could speak from a place of wisdom and knowledge.” — Skip Kelly “Fulfillment is a deeper feeling of happiness. If happiness is being really joyful in a moment and everyone can define it differently. And I know there's lots of awesome definitions out there of it, but for me, it's being happy in a moment, creating happy memories and that doesn't necessarily have to be good stuff. It could also be challenging things, things that you learn from, right? So, fulfillment comes from experiencing the depth of life in a way where you have the perspective that it was positive towards your growth, right? The hardest things in life can be fulfilling. And the most amazing things in life can be fulfilling.” — Skip Kelly (05:47 - 06:20) “It's almost like if you learn the English language and then fell in love with cursive and not print, and then you just kind of went down that rabbit hole far enough to like where cursive was invented. That's kind of what I did with this physical exercise thing.” — Skip Kelly “Sometimes it feels good to struggle and sometimes it feels good to have anger or grief. It's like sometimes you get those breakthrough moments where you're totally transcendent and you're like, ‘wow, I feel like I could do anything', but I kind of like this little pain that I'm dealing with.” — Skip Kelly (17:07- 17:23) “There can't be strong without weak and there can't be fun without boring.” — Skip Kelly “We know there's something profound that we should do, but there's also fear because we know how much our life could change.” — Skip Kelly “The thing we always taught was that your body is perfect. And as soon as you take that perspective and you start from that seed and you work outwards, if your body is perfect, is any injury bad? No. If your body is perfect, are any symptoms bad? No. As soon as you start looking at it from that perspective, that the symptom must be a good thing, that the injury must be a good thing. It changes the way that you deal with it. And that's why this stuff works so quickly because we started using the body's own system to heal itself, rather than us saying, the body is making a mistake.” — Skip Kelly (22:04 - 22:34) “We always want more of all of these things, podcasts, coaches, right? Of art, of music, of movies, of content. It's always gonna affect someone profoundly. And that's a beautiful gift to give the world. So I started a podcast production company and started a course curation company to help people really create courses at a high level.” — Skip Kelly “I have tons of doubt, fear, and insecurity—just like anyone would. There was a point in time where I really strived to have as little doubt, fear, and insecurity as possible. That is no longer the case. The difference is in surrendering to the doubt, fear, and insecurity.” — Skip Kelly “The surrender, the allowing and enjoying is you allowing yourself to enjoy it rather than fighting all this resistance, right? So even if it sounds like a smart decision, I think following your intuition, following your part is always gonna lead you down a better path to surprises and the unknown of things you could have never imagined coming true.” — Skip Kelly “It's [intuition] always there, no matter what is going on, even a life or death situation. If you can just get really present, there's a feeling in you that's always guiding you to the most perfect, most beautiful outcome possible.” — Skip Kelly Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? There are infinite ways we can showcase our love. We can shower our loved ones with affirmations, spoil them with gifts, make time for quality experiences— really the list is endless! So why is it we become so paralyzed by the thought of showing ourselves similar graciousness? It's because real acceptance and growth come from forgiveness and responsibility, not passivity and resentment. We've been conditioned to act (and believe) the latter, but now's a more perfect time than ever to release that painful pressure and be free. Whether they are good, bad, or downright dark, our experiences are valid. And we shouldn't expect ourselves to move through them in a linear fashion, like a train on a schedule. The intelligence of our emotions should be what guides our path, instead of some made up checkpoints. That's one of the infinitely inspirational ideas I picked up from a new read of mine, written by a dear friend and true visionary: Danielle LaPorte. Danielle LaPorte is a best-selling author, inspirational speaker, entrepreneur, and blogger all about living a heart-centered life. Her first best-seller, The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul, inspired us all to reclaim our self-agency through the power of emotion. Now she's back with an upcoming book titled How To Be Loving, and it's not (entirely) what you think it's about. The book details more than just kindness and ‘being better', but the very real (and necessary) bereavement of your emotional and mental boogeymen. So, what better way to celebrate this new creation than ripping the monsters out from under our metaphorical bed and giving them some tender love? It's been a long while since Danielle and I have spoken on the IHML Show— and this made for the perfect reunion! Together on this episode, Danielle and I move through the key points of her newest book hitting the shelves October 11th, and how this piece differs from her last published work. She also shares vulnerable personal experiences and what they've taught her about embodiment, creating versus attracting, and why spiritual bypassing is not the way to go! If you're looking for a crash course on how to change everything from within, this episode is the perfect starting point! Danielle's spirit, soul, and sense of self are so riveting they'll have you itching to turn the page and begin a new chapter in your life. Start living your life like it's your favorite novel, and make the plot your own! In This Episode: [01:02] Danielle doesn't hold back on her synopsis (or her excitement) for her upcoming book How To Be Loving! [02:20] Why Danielle starts her book off by talking about her year-in-review, and seriously considers walking away from her creative life— and the catalyst for that. [08:36] Danielle deep dives into the transition from her first book Desire Maps to How To Be Loving, and how she implemented this change in her curriculum. [13:27] Listen to Danielle share her insight into visions & having goals (or lack thereof). [15:55] Why do lessons repeat themselves? This is Danielle's insightful perspective... [21:10] Taking responsibility for what we've created in our lives — and how Danielle differentiates between that and something we've attracted passively. [24:00] The layers of responsibility for our hardships and restoring balance through forgiveness, as told (and experienced) by Danielle! [27:19] Danielle dissects spiritual bypassing, and why that's not the goal. [28:51] How Danielle moved through what she calls The Dark Night of the Soul, and what she recommends for anyone enduring a tough period of life. [37:04] The two kinds of children and what they require from us, according to Danielle! [42:11] So, who's the new Danielle? Emily and Danielle reflect on all the changes since their last conversation together in 2019! [45:49] Danielle answers the timeless IHML question: how can you create a life better than your dreams? Quotes: “Some people might be surprised when they get in [the new book]. It's not how to be kind, or how to listen better. I mean, that all shows up, but it's basically clean up your own house, bereavement for all your own boogeyman and then watch what happens. “ — Danielle LaPorte “I think, being on the personal path, there can be this arrogance that comes with it.” — Danielle LaPorte “I really got to this place of like, ‘if you don't use your gifts and your privilege and your natural abilities, that's actually a disservice to life and everybody.'” — Danielle LaPorte “I think sometimes with letting go, well, my philosophy now is you have to bless it and release it. So whether it's money or relationships or jobs or whatever you've been desiring, or all that negative stuff you wanna let go of, you wanna let go of that relationship dynamic or the person who's driving you nuts, the karma. Whatever it is, all that stuff wants your attention, all of it. You created it, you made the relationship, you made the job you. So it just wants to be loved. It wants to be acknowledged, then it will peace out.'” — Danielle LaPorte “It actually doesn't matter how I feel, what matters is what I am being. And then the question moved into, ‘what do I want to embody?' No matter what, no matter whether the cash flow is happening or the relationship is harmonious that day, or I'm in perfect health, no matter what I wanna be loved, no matter what I wanna be compassionate, I wanna be resilient no matter what.” — Danielle LaPorte (9:53- 10:18) “Of course, have goals. Just be clear on what's motivating them. Are they ego centered goals or are they heart centered goals? I think what's more important is to have a vision.” — Danielle LaPorte “The thing with not getting the lesson the first time is there can be this punishment that we put ourselves through. It's like, ‘ah, I'm getting this again. Why didn't I evolve enough? It didn't stick.' No, no, no, no. Then we're really missing the lesson, which is we become super compassionate with ourselves.” — Danielle LaPorte “I think because we're so progress obsessed, we think,'oh, I achieve this, next. I expand, I achieve this, next. Get bigger. I work through that in therapy, check. Then I did that workshop, check check. And we see it as this straight line, like we're trains on a track. It is not that way. The most helpful visual is we are a planet and there are all these constellations and stars and weather patterns around us. And if we do one thing, it shifts everything. And if some event happens in our life with someone else, because we're all connected, it shifts us. So it's really the butterfly effect of inner growth. We don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow. We could be stronger. We could be weaker. We could be impacted by what our person is going through. And that is going to bring up different stuff at different times.” — Danielle LaPorte "You can let go of the pressure to be at a certain point of success by a certain stage of your life...You are not a train on a track with a schedule." — Danielle LaPorte in How To Be Loving (20:29 - 20:35) “We're creating the thoughts that then hang out in our energy field. And those are the magnets and attract the most important thing on the path.” — Danielle LaPorte “So often we think about karma as like, ‘I did this and I'm getting punished or, you know, Karma's just balance.' So the soul says, ‘Okay, remember that time where you were a little bit greedy? We're gonna give you just this little opportunity for you to balance that out. You get to be generous.' Now it's just bringing things back into balance, bringing it back into balance.” — Danielle LaPorte “Spiritual bypassing is when you use spirituality and self-help ideas to really just sugarcoat some pain. Something terrible happens and you say, 'well, everything happens for a reason. Or, um, there's a gift in this.' Look, I believe both of those things philosophically, but you can't bypass it. You have to be like, ‘wow, there was impact. This really stirred this up. Here's the emotional response I had. This is really painful.' And that's the beauty of those circumstances.” — Danielle LaPorte (27:35-28:12) “The whole thing with suffering is you get to look at it and see what your reactions are, make the unconscious conscious, bring it to the light. So yeah, before you see the gift, you have to look at the impact.” — Danielle LaPorte “I was able to really transmute all of that pain into power, but I had to see all of that pain first.” — Danielle LaPorte Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? There's no bond like the one between a child and a parent. So it's no wonder that choosing to be a mother, or a parent in its entirety, is a powerful journey in itself. The physical, emotional, and even spiritual connection you and your child have nearly transcends the relationship you have with yourself alongside everything you've built in your life. Which, admittedly, can be scary at first— trust me, I would know. My husband James and I have been enjoying this budding new stage in our life: growing our family. I'm nearly twenty weeks along in my first pregnancy, and so much has already happened! But believe me, this beautiful journey started long before I rejoiced with an unexpected yet expected (this will make more sense when you listen to the episode!) positive pregnancy test in hand. I knew that I was always destined to be a mother, but there were other facets to me that proved just as meaningful to my life. Which, in turn, has magnified my pure instinct to navigate this journey as I have been: with full surrender, pure openness, and intention. Oh, and a beautifully transformational environment of course! This is a story I've been thinking about for some time now, it's time I share… That's why on this week's episode of the I Heart My Life Show, I'm outpouring the intimate and inspiring journey of my conception and pregnancy thus far! I'll be detailing the deep body and mindset work I invested in to get here, creating intention surrounding our baby's conception, being a multifaceted entrepreneur and expecting mom, plus the journey that's to come in future episodes! I'll admit, I had to record this episode twice. Pregnancy brain hasn't hit (just yet), but I cannot help but overpour the gratitude and love I've been feeling the last few months. This baby is going to come into this world knowing exactly what it means to heart your life (and those that are in it)! We are so excited to share this journey with you. In This Episode: [00:00] Emily warmly welcomes us with her intentions and deep reflections in light of today's episode! [03:04] So, let's take it back through the eight years in the making of Emily's current reality. [07:06] How Emily moved through the projections of doubt, worry, and fear surrounding her desires surrounding pregnancy. [08:47] These are the calls and questions that Emily experienced about where and how she wanted to have a baby. [12:38] Emily shares how she really tuned in to what she needed for this beautiful stage of her life. [14:25] Check out this book Emily recommends for all those looking to get pregnant, or already care for their own beautiful babies! [15:17] This is the beginning of Emily and James' conception story! [18:39] What it means to be in full surrender, as told (and experienced) by Emily! [21:42] Emily shares her biggest shift amidst her journey with pregnancy so far. Quotes: “I knew there was something else in store for me, in addition to that role [of motherhood]. And so for me, it was really important to get that moving before motherhood became a part of this scenario.” — Emily Williams “I was, and I still am, so in love with the work that I do and I'm so involved in many different components of it that to think that I'd be able to essentially turn over my body to another sort of life and have the changes occur and the tiredness and the queasiness and all the stuff that we all hear comes along with pregnancy— I didn't know how I would navigate that and be running a business.” — Emily Williams (5:04- 5:33) “I have a level of trust with myself and with my body and with timing that I've been able to apply to many areas of my life. And so I figured it would be the same with the baby.” — Emily Williams “I chose to believe that for me, if this path was right and we were meant to have a child or children, it would happen, period.” — Emily Williams “We're so susceptible to other people's opinions that they seep in and cause us to go into fear, doubt, worry, concern—all the things—and block what it is that we actually want.”— Emily Williams “We were in full trust around the scenario. We didn't rush anything. We didn't put any pressure on ourselves. We were just completely open.” — Emily Williams “For the past year or so, I've been working on myself really diligently. I hired a therapist and I hired a nutritionist. Now I didn't do this with the intention of making space or like setting my body up to have a baby, that actually never even entered my mind. If I'm being completely honest, it was all about me healing and tuning into what I personally need at this stage. Now, do I think that played a part in me, conceiving? Absolutely. I cleared out so much. My body was healthier. I was in a beautiful frame of mind in terms of mindset and releasing traumas, and some of the things that were holding me back for many years, or even decades. — Emily Williams “That was the intention, just to start trying and not have an agenda. And we were well aware that we can't predict the timeline of how long things are gonna take. And yet we were really open and just free with the whole thing. And we got pregnant on the first try and that was not something I ever expected.” — Emily Williams “It's interesting to start to trust your body and understand that your body knows what to do.” — Emily Williams “So much of my life has been about pushing, it's about things feeling really difficult. It's been about, ‘there's never enough', and those are all things I'm consistently working on. But for this conception, [it] was just so almost effortless for lack of a better word.” — Emily Williams (21:19 - 21:39) “I also know it's not healthy to be attached to your company and the way that I have been for so many years, I know my worth is not tied to the work that I do. So it's a really beautiful sort of shift in the start of releasing some of that attachment that's not serving me and hasn't been serving me and being able to be ambitious, but also having other important aspects to my life. Like being a mother, being a wife, being a friend, being a daughter, being somebody who loves to take time off, who loves to travel, who loves to throw parties, the list goes on and on and on.” — Emily Williams “We aren't just business owners or career women. We have other facets to us.” — Emily Williams Links & Resources: Ready to Uplevel Your Life? The messy mistakes of entrepreneurship go to show that everything evolves from nothing— or something we believe to be nothing. Mistakes are the reminders that not everything is meant to work out the way we expect or want, but that doesn't mean they aren't meant for us. In many cases, like Jaclyn Johnson's, the messy mistakes were integral to the trajectory of the beautiful journey to personal success! Jaclyn Johnson, “the ultimate multi-hyphenate,” never thought she would be an entrepreneur. After moving to LA and getting let go from her marketing job, she had no idea what was in store for her career. Meanwhile, she was circulating events as a blogger, at a time in which blogging was considered the wild west of the Internet. When she miraculously met another ambitious woman with an idea for a company (at one of these very same events), Jaclyn was in! Before she knew it, Jaclyn was running the social media and creative side of her very own marketing agency: No Subject. It's been over a decade since Jaclyn stepped into her role as a CEO, and has lived (and learned) to tell the tale! As someone who's spearheaded what it means to be the modern day working woman, Jaclyn knows what's key to achieving personal, and professional, success. Which made her the most magnetic and amazing IHML Show guest! On this week's episode of the IHML Show, I invite Jaclyn on to share how she's personally navigated the messy mistakes of entrepreneurship. She's detailing her early days in marketing, taking us behind-the-scenes of selling two successful companies, what's key for personal success, and how to lean into your personal magnetism! I cannot emulate to you all enough how excited I am for this magnetic, magnificent woman to share her wisdom... and talk about early 2000s blogging with me. If you've been following me since the early days, you know what I'm talking about! If there's to take away from Jaclyn's insightful episode, it's to embrace your messy mistakes— and make them into something beyond your wildest dreams! In This Episode: [00:00] Introduction [01:21] We warmly welcome Jaclyn onto the IHML Show/ [02:14] Jaclyn vividly details her entrepreneurial journey— and its unexpected start. [07:32] This is how Jaclyn moved into freelancing and finding her creative space after moving to LA! [10:51] Emily and Jaclyn bond over their early 2000s blogging days (awww). [12:09] What was Jaclyn's first business like, and where is it now? Jaclyn tells us! [13:34] Jaclyn spills her secret to being a magnetic force and making things happen… like selling her business and (unintentionally) creating a new one! [17:51] What side does Jaclyn's loyalty lie when making decisions: the instinctive side, or the rational one? She confidently answers. [18:41] This is what Create & Cultivate looked like in its early phases... [23:57] Jaclyn reflects on what she would've done differently with C&C now having all her entrepreneurial knowledge! [25:47] How Jaclyn attracted high-profile celebrities to be a part of her community! [31:19] Jaclyn made the decision to sell Create & Cultivate, here's why. [35:40] The resilience, support, and reflection that got Jaclyn through the hardest period of her life and career. [39:01] A behind-the-scenes look into Jaclyn's other exciting projects! [40:43] These are Jaclyn's top three keys to personal success. [42:36] If you know, you know... we asked Jaclyn for her advice on how to create a life better than your dreams! Quotes: “I had obviously worked in corporate the entire time; structure, steam, large companies. And so kind of going from that environment to a scrappy startup, you're doing everything from the bookkeeping to the hiring to the firing, all of the things. The new business, all of it, was a lot, but it was something that was kind of a welcome challenge at the time.” — Jaclyn Johnson “We ended up finding this really amazing loft in downtown LA, and it was like 800 bucks a month. And there was three of us; we had another guy that joined us too that split it. And I was like, ‘I can't believe we have this space. Like, this is so crazy.' It was nice because I was also new to the city, so I wanted to get out. So we had this creative space we created and branded the space and called it No Subject. And we all worked out of it. We hosted events during art week. It was like this really fun creative space. And then eventually I ended up starting my first business with the woman that I got the space with, which was then we called No Subject the agency. Her specialization was really like on the event side, I was the social media and marketing side. And so combined, we started to get clients together and ended up starting my first company kind of out of nowhere.” — Jaclyn Johnson (9:59- 10:51) “Taking over the company [No Subject] by myself was super challenging when we had employees, like everyone, like lawsuits. It was intense, right? So, you make a lot of mistakes and you learn a lot about it. And I had a lot of shame around that like in the early days. Then once I started talking to people about what had happened, so many people were like, ‘oh yeah, that happened to my friend,' or like, ‘that happened to this person,' or like, ‘oh yep, totally.' I was like,' oh wait, this is like something that people go through.' There's always these messy mistakes you're making in business.” — Jaclyn Johnson (14:31-15:00) “By wanting to have a community of entrepreneurs and women and freelancers that were kind of going through the same thing, I started Create & Cultivate to get women together. It was never intended to be a business. It was more just like a community building thing.” — Jaclyn Johnson “I am instinct all the way because I feel pulled in certain directions sometimes in my life where I'm like, ‘oh yeah, I gotta go do this. Like I gotta see it through and I think I can make this work'. So I think for me, I very much follow my gut and make things happen. And if they don't work out, I always am like ‘that happens for a reason', you know?” — Jaclyn Johnson (17:51 - 18:12) “People started to be obsessed with Create & Cultivate and wanting to be part of that. The team was like, ‘are we working for that company?' Or this guy, like everyone was confused including me and clients, it was like this kind of hodgepodge of things. And I was sort of figuring it out until it hit a boiling point where I was like, ‘okay, I need to actually hire people for this thing.'” — Jaclyn Johnson “We [Create & Cultivate] were really first to market in creating an event and a site for modern working women. Now there's like a thousand you can go to. We were the only one, it was Forbes or us [at the time].” — Jaclyn Johnson “I think the authenticity behind the brand, and the fact that it didn't start with money as the motive, I think it honestly wasn't the motive for like six years. It was just about creating community and doing cool things.” — Jaclyn Johnson “We were approaching celebrities, which at the time was very novel as entrepreneurs, not just celebrities, right? We were really approaching it as like, this is an entrepreneur conference. This is not a fan conference. These are [for] women who want advice in that way.” — Jaclyn Johnson “For us being a self-funded business, a high growth self-funded business, the natural trajectory is either to go raise money or sell. And we were in a position where we didn't necessarily need money, but we did need a larger org to absorb us to get to that next level and provide sort of that larger framework that we would need to grow and build.” — Jaclyn Johnson “I talk to people who sell their companies and I'm like, it's so weird to wake up one day and not do what you've done for the last 10 years.” — Jaclyn Johnson Links & Resources: Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Jaclyn: Check out her official website! What does wealth mean to you? Is it a fridge fully stocked from Whole Foods, a lucrative savings account, and luxury getaways? Or maybe spending time with those you love? Everybody experiences wealth in various ways, but rarely do we take the time to reflect on if we actually feel wealthy at the subconscious level. Because the reality is very few of us were taught about money mindset, or how to empower ourselves with it! I'm sure many of us grew up seldom hearing about the importance of financial literacy. Sure, you were taught about checkbooks and savings and even spending habits. But were you ever instilled with tools to bridge the gap between your behaviors and desires? Chances are, you weren't. But that doesn't mean you're destined to live the rest of your life stuck in your old ways— or a shallow spending budget. Like you, Walli Miller grew up believing she was adequate at money management. But after receiving an income report in her mid-twenties, she realized she had nothing to show for all her hard work. And more importantly, realized how little she was really taught about money. After a slew of ‘aha' moments and losing love for her corporate job, she finally decided it was time to create wealth according to her standards. Not only did she utilize mindset work and self-reflection to redefine what wealth meant to her, but discovered how she can show up everyday honoring her values. How? By building her relationship with money as a tool, and not just a currency. Walli's wealth of knowledge is here to teach us there's ‘no one size fits all' when it comes to money mindset and wealth. Which is what makes her a truly unique and inspiring coach… and this week's IHML Show guest! In this episode, Walli and I harp on the hard conversations about money, being intentional with our spending habits, how to define wealth in our own way, and tips to align our money with our values! This IHML Show episode is worth a fortune with how much information and insight Walli has to offer. As someone who's been working on her own money mindset, I truly believe Walli is going to completely change the way you think about wealth. Because no matter what you were told to believe, the luxuries of life that light you up are truly priceless— no matter the cost! In This Episode: [0:27] This is how Walli's financial journey all transpired… [2:55] Wall walks us through her adult relationship with money that inspired her work! [8:45] These are the first steps Walli took in light of her major money ‘aha' moment. [11:19] Walli shares her (unexpected) philosophies and desires as a financial coach. [14:55] How to get clear on your vision and stay aligned with it— according to Walli! [17:32] Want to create a ‘work optional' experience, or build generational wealth? Give some of Walli's tips a much needed try! [23:41] These are the overlooked avenues and mistakes Walli sees in entrepreneurs and her own clients. [27:16] Walli happily shares her wisdom for how to create a life better than your dreams, from a wealth standpoint! Quotes: “What we don't realize is that so much of our money relationship, our money mindset is really formed and shaped when we're really young, when we're about between the ages of seven and 10. So when we think about what type of environment and what type of examples did our parents have for us, when it came to money and what type of conversations did they have with us surrounding money. And then to think that as we get older and start working and get those jobs and begin making an income, that a lot of the things that we learned may not be the best in having the healthiest relationship with money.” — Walli Miller “And I remember getting an income report of the last 10 years of my wages and I calculated how much money I had made in my lifetime and realized that I had nothing to show for it.” — Walli Miller “I had to really understand what my spending triggers were. And sometimes those spending triggers could be associated with negative feelings, right?” — Walli Miller “If we feel anxious, upset, depressed, sad, angry, frustrated, we might want to make ourselves feel better by using something like shopping. But sometimes it's also a positive thing that we do, right? If we get a promotion at work, or we finally completed a big project. Now, all of a sudden we are shopping as a form of reward. And neither one of those things are bad. But if you are doing these things sort of unintentionally, if you're doing these things sort of unconsciously, that's where that becomes an issue.“ — Walli Miller “When we talk about money mindset, it's simply your relationship with money. Your habits, your behaviors, your thoughts around money. And when we understand what that is and what are some of the behaviors that you would like to replace, or some of the habits that you would like to remove, then we can sort of figure out what you want to do with your money.” — Walli Miller “One of the things that I tell my clients is that as a financial coach, this might sound a little weird but, I do not care how you spend your money. What I do care about is that I wanna hear what it is that you want your life to look like. Let's design the life that you want. Let's design the experiences that you want.” — Walli Miller “So if we can really tie in the things that are [a part of] the life that you want to have, the experiences you want to experience, then we can tie that into how we can use money as a tool to help you get there. “ — Walli Miller “Once I really understood where my money was going and I realized that it wasn't aligned, where I was spending my money wasn't aligned with what I valued most. That was something that helped me make that shift.” — Walli Miller “I like to use this acronym for cutting the F.A.T.T. and F.A.T.T. stands for food, accommodation, transportation, and taxes. If you can cut the F.A.T.T. down in your budget, that is where the bulk of your success is going to be.” — Walli Miller “If we had to create a list of the top five things that you valued most, where does being financially independent or building generational wealth fall in line with your shopping trips to whole foods or your luxury vehicle. And only you can decide that.” — Walli Miller “When you can define what wealth means to you and what a rich life means to you, then you can begin dreaming.” — Walli Miller Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Walli Miller: Follow Walli on Instagram! If the sky was the limit, what's the highest achievement possible for you? A six-figure salary, a growing family, juicy benefits, the “perfect” body? And before you really think about your answer, let me ask you something: is this the language in which your heart and soul authentically speak to you? Chances are, probably not! So here's the thing: we've been conditioned by the phenomenon of ‘milestones', and as a result, relying on the final outcome for happiness. But these accomplishments are only a fraction of the greater formula for our dream life. Our dream life is really a blend of powerful questioning, redefining success (to our standards), and redirecting our instincts in times of complete disruption. The outcome is never absolute, so why force ourselves to live according to that false truth? That's exactly what Tiffany Paul started to ask herself years into living her ‘dream life'. Although her life on paper was seemingly picture-perfect, Tiffany started to feel the inkling that there was more for her life than a big city and a bigger paycheck. Once she started to really question what was gonna bring her happiness and success, Tiffany soon realized she wasn't living on her own terms. So she went on to launch her own business in the hopes of reclaiming her freedom. Plot twist: nothing went according to plan. But an even bigger plot twist is this: she found the bright side and it was more than she could ever imagine! If you happen to be caught between living and dreaming (and craving both) I think I have everything you need… inside this amazing IHML Show episode! This week I had fellow podcast host and total spitfire Tiffany Paul on to discuss what it really means to live your dream life. Tiffany will also be detailing her own pivots towards self-development and entrepreneurship, what keeps us present, and how to navigate unexpected circumstances. I'm so excited to have this exuberant, wise, and radiant human on to talk about similarities (and differences) in our philosophies. Truth be told, there's no singular definition behind living your dream life. And you know what? That's what growth is all about. So don't prolong your transformation any longer. Start changing your life now… by redefining the terms you live by! In This Episode: [0:42] Tiffany jumps into the wild ride she's taken in life (and business) that introduced her to the bright side of personal development. [3:48] Just some of the major pivots that brought Tiffany to launch her podcast, Break the Matrix (plus her multiple businesses)! [7:00] Listen to Tiffany break down the six-figure milestone phenomena and what gave her the clarity to gravitate down a different path. [10:22] This is what Tiffany learned about the “logic” behind our dreams. [11:39] If you have an inkling there's something more out there… Tiffany has some first steps for you to try! [13:40] Here's the BTS look behind Tiffany's five years of building her business. [17:04] What to do when things fall apart— in the wise words of Tiffany! [19:58] So… what else has Tiffany done to create her dream life? She spills. [23:32] Tiffany gets real with Emily about the outgrown definition of “living”... [26:49] This is why Tiffany believes the ‘why' holds us back from enjoying our journey (and the other half of the life equation). [32:12] Yes, Tiffany has even more advice on how to create a life that's better than your dreams! Quotes: “I started looking at my life and kind of feeling guilty [because] on paper I have everything that society tells me should make me happy.” — Tiffany Paul “What does living the dream look like and going beyond just achievement, success and money and titles and businesses: what is it really about?” — Tiffany Paul “As any business owner knows, it takes time to create money and a financially successful business. There's a lot of investment in foundational structures that may be put into place. And so at that moment where I was like, ‘I'm kind of starting all over again. This doesn't feel fun.' It was exciting to launch a business, but I needed something to fuel my soul to feel like I was doing something that I just loved each and every day.” — Tiffany Paul “If we're really talking about living the dream, to me that looks like living life on my own terms. And living life on my own terms means doing more of what I love. ” — Tiffany Paul “So the hardest part about it is that logically, it actually didn't make any sense why I would want something more. Generally, I liked my job. I was good at it. I had a lot of flexibility. I worked from home. I had great benefits, like all the things. And that's why it took me so long to come to terms with the fact that your dreams aren't always logical, your dreams come from the heart, from the soul. It speaks in feelings, not language. So it was just simply a feeling that I could not get rid of. I think that there's something that keeps coming up for you, a vision and idea, a dream, that's your soul, that's your heart. And it often doesn't make the most logical sense, especially because we do live in a world that tells us living the dream looks like X, Y, Z.” — Tiffany Paul “Sometimes it's just as simple as ‘do you wanna do this or do you not?' And sometimes we outgrow our dreams. Sometimes we evolve into different versions of ourselves and that's normal, right? Everything in nature evolves.” — Tiffany Paul “We [humans] love comfort and safety and that's where we operate from, even subconsciously. So if my dreams are making too much sense, I always like to check in and say, ‘is there a voice that I'm kind of squashing down in the background?'” — Tiffany Paul “We so easily discount the smallness of the steps. And it doesn't take anything more than that to put you on a completely different timeline, to introduce you to somebody who's gonna change your life, to have an opportunity pop up that's going to really propel you forward. It just takes time, patience and small steps.” — Tiffany Paul “We can make all the plans we want and be logical and do the things, and it's just not a guarantee for success. And the reason I'm trying to emphasize that point is that I've done so much of what another business coach says I should do, or a book says I should do, or my entrepreneur friend says I should do. And sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, business is not linear. If it was so easy, everyone would do it. If it was just ‘here's the how-to guide to build a business', we would all do it. And so we can learn and be inspired from little bits and pieces of everybody's journey, but from that, we're gonna be creating our own unique journey, build with things that made logical sense, and things that came intuitively from ourselves. From test and learn, from trial and error, from luck. And it's just not as logical and linear as I think so many of us want, because we want to know the outcome. We wanna know we're gonna be okay. We want success and we wanna create our dream life.” — Tiffany Paul “So there is no failure— just a direction, a redirection, or a lesson.” — Tiffany Paul “I was no longer willing to sacrifice my life and the here and now in exchange for a final outcome.” — Tiffany Paul “I thought slowing down so that I can enjoy my life was essential for me in creating a life that I love living.” — Tiffany Paul “It's oftentimes a singular definition of what it means to live the dream. And it's often these external factors of success, a job, money, a house, a certain family, a certain body, and it's all external. So not only is it based on final outcomes, as we discuss which are not guaranteed, it takes you outta the present moment. I also think it's just this superficial way to live our lives.”— Tiffany Paul “So we spend our lives exhausted and berating ourselves about how we're not doing enough or we're not giving ourselves credit for all that we have done. I think that it's just this attachment to the final outcome.” — Tiffany Paul “If you are really looking to live life on your own terms, which I think so many of us are, we need to ask ourselves, what are those terms? And what does, if, if the sky was the limit and anything was possible, what would I wanna do?” — Tiffany Paul Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Tiffany Paul: Follow Tiffany on Instagram! Entertain this wild idea for a moment: your life is as good (if not, better) as you dream it to be. There's no fear or confusion surrounding your success because you already have it as you imagine— maybe even beyond. Just imagine how much your life would change if you permitted yourself to let that vision become a real possibility… because guess what? It's possible. And I know that to be fact because I myself experienced it. Back when I was in the throes of my quarter-life crisis, I was searching for something bigger. I craved community, compassion, and clarity surrounding my desires. And like all of you, I wasn't provided with the proper tools and resources to make those goals attainable. I thought I had to burn myself to the brim in order to experience that pinnacle of success. Truth be told, that backfired. But instead, I found a new flame of inspiration that's changed the way I ran my life— and business! If you've been following me for a while, you know I've launched many memberships. My most recent one ceased to come into fruition. Cue: my New Year's wake-up call. That breathless feeling in my chest was the sign I needed to redirect I Heart My Life and the unexpected direction it took. Even though I'm so grateful for the growth and transformation this community has gifted thousands, if not millions, of women with… I know there was more for I Heart My Life than serving the coaching & entrepreneurial space. Re-committing to alignment with the I Heart My Life mission has inspired me like never before, which brings us to my most exciting project yet: the I Heart My Life Membership! This vortex of feminine power, creativity, and personal development is the key to elevating your life in every way imaginable. Which is why I'm super ecstatic to be taking this week's IHML Show episode to go behind the scenes of the new I Heart My Life Membership. I'm going to be detailing the setbacks and shifts that inspired this program, what it includes if it's right for you, and how you can sign up! This was what twenty-five-year-old-me needed all those years ago, which makes this full-circle moment all that more impactful. You might just be surprised at what will come up for you! In This Episode: [0:32] Emily dives right into the backstory (and multiple memberships) that led to her newest and boldest creation for the I Heart My Life community. [3:44] Ask yourself these crucial Q's before you decide if this experience is for you… [8:27] These are the reminders and resources Emily knew she needed on her own journey— and wants to give you with this membership! [12:42] Emily is calling us all out on the subconscious fear brewing behind our biggest blocks… and how the IHML membership's framework will help you overcome it. [19:47] Here's the breakdown for the IHML membership, on a monthly basis! [24:46] This is what's in store for 2023 and the higher levels of the IHML membership. [27:47] Disclaimer: we don't want you to believe this is what you have to do to be successful… [29:26] Here's how Emily and the IHML membership are going to support you, and how you can join this amazing experience. [31:35] Emily shares some outstanding testimonials of IHML clients! Quotes: “I Heart My Life was actually designed to be for all women. Women who are ambitious, women who wanna go to the next level in some area of their life, whether that is business or career or relationships or health and wellness or mindset or finances. And I felt like I was selling the brand short by just working with such a small group of people.” — Emily Williams “Sometimes you get to the point where you'd rather something crumble than move forward with something that's not in alignment, or you'd rather turn something off or take a pause. And that's how I operate.” — Emily Williams “We've been really thinking about what an ideal membership would look like for this brand. Especially where it is now, where we're kind of coming full circle and getting back to the initial iteration and vision that I had for the company.” — Emily Williams “Maybe some of you even listening are thinking, ‘you know what? I don't actually wanna change,' or, ‘you know what? I'm too busy right now. I don't have the time to devote to my personal and professional development.' That's totally okay. I'd rather you wait until you feel aligned or wait until you get that inkling that this is the right next step for you than jump in and not actually be ready.” — Emily Williams “One of the key sort of indicators of my level of success over the last few years is [asking]: ‘how happy am I? How joyful am I? How much fun am I actually having?'” — Emily Williams “Regardless if you have millions in your bank account and the most amazing marriage and thriving business, and regardless if you're that person or you're someone who's brand new in business or somebody who wants to join this program because you wanna call in your soulmate relationship, everyone is perfect as they're coming in. And we always all have something to work on.” — Emily Williams “I also know that oftentimes we get so blindsided and we get to the point where we're so focused on one thing, whether it's business or money or career, and we forget about the other key pillars. So it's really important in my opinion to experience holistic success. Because if one part of your life is off, you're not gonna experience the full joy.” — Emily Williams “It's not necessarily in our current awareness to know that we have an issue or a fear of success. But really ask yourself: what if every single area of your life was taken care of and thriving, how would that feel? Most people can't even imagine how that would be.” — Emily Williams “We are taught to work hard and push and achieve. And all of that is so well and good. [But] are we taught to tune in, are we taught about the feminine way of doing things, of doing business, of career, of running our lives? Are we taught to slow down? Are we taught to trust that everything is happening for us and not to us most of the time? No.” — Emily Williams “We're gonna help you get clear on your goals and figure out the fastest path to actually meeting them, okay? Most people weren't actually taught how to goal set.” — Emily Williams “There's so much power in vulnerability. That's how we actually create more connections with others.” — Emily Williams Links & Resources Join the IHML Membership Waiting List here: www.iheartmylife.com/membership Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com
Are you someone who's envisioned their big picture goal as living in alignment? And if you haven't found your life's passion or purpose yet, does it feel like you're resorting to your career as a validation crutch? You pick job after job out of an imaginary hat, wishing that whatever opportunity came your way would be the answer to your desires. If any of this resonates, you know deep down there's more for you than a checklist of successes. When we dream of who we want to be and how we want to live, we're subconsciously channeling our inner power for inspiration. But when we're faced with a real challenge or discomfort that asks us to step into our next level self, we shy back into our fear. It's because alignment requires the energetic work many of us don't believe we can accomplish… which makes it all that more crucial to your total transformation. Kelly Marcyniuk was one of the determined ones, even when doubt and scarcity stood in her way. She had enough dabbling of jobs and hoped to discover the passion she craved in a career. So when she miraculously found network marketing, she thought the job bouncing was over! But even after a few years, she still wasn't living unapologetically according to her desires. So in search of something bigger (and better), Kelly found her calling where she least expected: a Facebook group. After unknowingly booking a discovery call with a coach, Kelly finally found the opportunities that piqued her wants. She turned her love of freedom into a business & lifestyle coaching business in just one year— and has learned so much along the way! Even after five years of being her own boss, Kelly has grown to understand energy work is the key to living in alignment, and more importantly something everyone should experience! The OG Freedom Babe, Kelly Marcyniuk, is this week's IHML Show guest! In this episode, Kelly vividly takes us through her success story, explains how energy work molds her coaching practices, and thinking outside the entrepreneurial box. She is also going to break down the challenges that kept her from embodying alignment— and what we can do to make sure that doesn't happen to us. Kelly's graceful bubbliness is truly contagious, it's no wonder her coaching has changed the lives of many! Her desire to show other women how to design their life and create true freedom never fails to inspire me. Let Kelly be the affirmation you need that you need to pursue your vision and bring it to life, even when others don't see its potential to thrive. In This Episode: [0:24] Kelly warmly starts this IHML Show with her success story! [3:48] A deep dive into the energy work Kelly implements with herself and her clients. [8:01] This shift made all the difference in Kelly's business alongside other transformations that worked in her favor! [10:39] Kelly shares why it's important to think outside the box of action to achieve true alignment in business. [11:56] These are the biggest things Kelly moved through this year that evoked discomfort and felt challenging— and our host Emily shares as well! [14:36] Kelly divulges what she wished she knew at the start of her business that she knows now… [16:55] How do you discover self-love and validation without tying it to business? Kelly shares her daily practices for doing so! [18:30] Kelly breaks down her 2022 goals. [19:45] With the creation of her podcast, Kelly readdresses some of her recurring fears and doubts. [22:01] Kelly provides her unique experience and advice on how you can create a life beyond your wildest dreams! Quotes: “I always felt like I was trying to choose my career from a hat. And there was nothing I really wanted to do. It was more of a life that I saw myself living and no job aligned with that vision.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “Once I started that [coaching] business, I felt at home almost, I felt so much more aligned with my purpose and with the big vision I had. And I also just saw it as a huge opportunity to help other people who were seeing or who were stuck in that same holding pattern of knowing they were meant for big things, but feeling like no job or no network marketing business would get them there. So now that's what I help my clients with, whether they're starting from scratch or building their business to the point that can give them that freedom that they've always wanted.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “And I was like, ‘I feel like I can't do anymore'. Like, this is as much work that I can do, but I also felt guilty if I was taking a break or if I was gonna close my laptop for the night. And there was a little voice in my head that said, ‘what would you do if the money and the clients were already here?' And that's when I was like, ‘well, I would go have fun for a couple of days'. I would go see my friends, would go just live my life. So that's what I did. I actually went away for like a night or two and when I got back, there were two clients that signed and paid in full that week. It was like all my miracles happened, all of my desires and needs were met. And from that moment forward, I really do that more and more, and that's what I teach my clients as well. Obviously, you have to do the work.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “Obviously you have to show up, obviously you have to take action. And there's such an energetic piece of it too, of being that version of you who already has what she wants. If you already had the clients, if you already had the money, you wouldn't be worrying and freaking out and wondering where it is and checking your inbox and hitting refresh, or refreshing your DMS every couple of minutes. You would also be living your life and not making your business absolutely everything and not validating yourself just from your business too. So there's a big embodiment piece of that. I just help my clients really get clear on what that vision is, who the version of them is that's already there. And then we work on them matching that energy internally and then also taking actions as that version of themselves. And that honestly, when things just flow in ways that you could never predict and also with so much ease as well. There's no force with that.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “And when I can go and look back on some of my best years or my best months or whatever, I'm letting that desire lead me. And a part of that is embracing the discomfort that comes with that.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “The more you can get used to embracing that discomfort that comes with those [desires] and not letting it define your reality or your future, and knowing that that discomfort is actually a good sign because when you embrace that, you're becoming that version of you who's at that next level, right?” — Kelly Marcyniuk “If you are always sitting back and waiting and hoping and not doing the things that really scare you, not following your desire and letting yourself be held back by lack. There's no energy. And if we want to manifest and attract the success we desire in our business, we have to be putting that energy forward.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “I had to stop validating myself based on my business results. Because as you could imagine, when you're stuck in fear, my business hasn't grown to the extent it has in a lot of the previous years this year and that felt embarrassing to me. And that made me feel like I wasn't good enough. Then I also realized, ‘okay, well now I'm only validating myself and who I am as a person based on what's happening in my business'.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “Don't validate yourself based on your results or the months you're having or the years you're having or whatever. Because there's gonna be ups and downs, always!” — Kelly Marcyniuk “I recreated the more long term vision and that's actually brought me a lot more inspiration and motivation. It's created a lot more momentum and it makes me feel excited and purposeful again in my business and with what I'm doing.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “My business isn't the only thing or the main thing that is important to me.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “If you're sharing your message, if you're putting yourself out there and it feels like no one cares or no one's listening, people do care and people do listen. They just don't always tell you that.” — Kelly Marcyniuk “If you have this vision, if you have this crazy idea that no one understands, go for it anyway because you're the only person that's gonna get in the way of that.” — Kelly Marcyniuk Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Kelly Marcyniuk: Check out The Freedom Babe The Freedom Babe Facebook Page Follow Kelly on Instagram Access Kelly's Free Meditation Kelly's Podcast: The Freedom Babe!
When you paint your big picture for life, what do you envision? Is your dream both balanced and abundant, exciting but stable? You desire the freedom to experience next-level opportunities while creating an impactful (and sustainable) legacy— the ideal work/life balance! And yes, it's true… both of these possibilities can exist simultaneously! But it requires stepping out of your comfort zone, embracing your own ideas, and getting ahead of the corporate game. I'm sure many of you daydream at your work desk, thinking about what could be if you were given the space and time to explore other avenues of profit. Chances are the idea of a side hustle has intrigued those thoughts at one point! With remote work and passive income opportunities sweeping the entrepreneurial space, pretty much anyone with drive and creativity can manifest major money (and other luxuries). Although side hustles empower you to unlock your multi-passionate self, there's some growth to be had mentally and spiritually. Women like Julie Berninger always knew she was meant for more, even in her profitable corporate tech job. But once the pandemic warped her world, Julie took it upon herself to fully embrace her true potential through the magic of side hustles. And in turn, learned how to be her best (and only) boss! I'm delighted to have smart and savvy Julie Berninger on the IHML Show to share the secret behind successful side hustles! Together we talk about the booming opportunity printables and Etsy shops have to offer, her personal journey with entrepreneurship, even the integral mindset and money shifts in store. If you've been itching at the idea of starting a side hustle, let this episode be the gentle encouragement to lean into that desire. And lucky for you, Julie shares her business resources to start a side hustle with clarity and confidence! A podcast episode and a freebie that could potentially change your life… is this a dream? Start creating your next-level life by working smarter, not harder! In This Episode: [1:47] Julie begins the episode by sharing the story behind her entrepreneurial success and launching her business, Gold City Ventures! [4:43] We're bringing you behind the scenes of what running a printable business is like, as described by Julie (and how you can do it too). [6:19] This is the advice Julie has for those just starting to dabble in graphic design— and some game-changing tools she used in her own business. [8:56] Julie shares the timeline of her business and how it became financially sustainable. [11:10] Listen to Julie break down her fears and doubts surrounding entrepreneurship and money that almost cost her her independence. [14:28] When things didn't pan out as planned, this is how Julie navigated them. [15:29] Julie vividly draws up her big picture goal for us! [16:48] This is the ebook Julie's audience raves to get their hands on… [18:15] And of course, Julie divulges one way you can create a life better than your dreams! Quotes: “I had been in the entrepreneurship world for a very long time. I was working in tech, but I always felt like corporate life wasn't for me. I was doing fine in it. I had been getting my first promotion to manager and I was kind of progressively moving up the ladder, but I just felt like there was something more out there and just sitting in my cubicle, looking out the window. Even though I was in the middle of a city and I was kind of loving it, it just felt like I wasn't fulfilled.” — Julie Berninger “So I started off with the printables business and then I got really savvy with keyword research tools. I know a lot of us who are in this kind of blogging space and even those who are coaches, you might look up what's trending on Google using trends.google.com, or you might look up something using a fancy keyword tool. AHF is one that I use or suggest as a free alternative, but I use tools like that so that I could get a sense of what people were looking for. And that was the biggest game changer in my business because a lot of people will spend hours and hours creating something that not many people are looking for. So even if you hit it out of the park, if there's just not enough people, you're not gonna make the amount of money that you wanna make. But if you see, oh, this is trending right now, a bunch of people are looking for this. Then the ROI on your time is just gonna make a lot more sense. And that's kind of the approach I took with creating this printable business.” — Julie Berninger “I was working in my corporate job and then doing all these side hustles beyond just the fact that I knew there was more for me. I also wanted to reach a level of financial security so that I had this freedom to do whatever I wanted with my life, essentially in my thirties.” — Julie Berninger “So that was the first time that I really realized, okay, I need to make a business that can sustain my life. It can still help me reach financial independence. It can give generational wealth to my daughter. And essentially I could have my time back because I was totally stretched in at the beginning in the pandemic. So that's where I started gold city ventures. And it was something that I knew would be desirable because I've had a lot of success selling printables on Etsy. But I actually launched a little mastermind with my podcast listeners and I ran it a couple times in a row and it's sold out. So I knew like, oh, other people think this side hustle is cool too. If I can find a way to share what I know in an online course, then I can scale. Scale my time and scale this knowledge out further.” — Julie Berninger “If I can find a way to share what I know in an online course, then I can scale. Scale my time and scale this knowledge out further.” — Julie Berninger “I think just as a female and [I was] working in tech, I was always waiting for that promotion or the next thing. And it can be hard for women in the workplace.” — Julie Berninger “Being an entrepreneur is the biggest form of protest. I don't have to wait on anyone's approval to launch an idea. I don't have to convince my boss it's a good idea. I don't have to get someone's blessing to make more money. It's all on me. There are some bad things with that, but man, it feels really freeing. And when I see the money coming in and realize like, oh, my ideas were good. Now not all of them are good, there are some that maybe I shouldn't have done. But being the person that's responsible and not having to get anyone else's approval to get ahead in life, that's what's so empowering about being an entrepreneur.” — Julie Berninger “I think a lot of entrepreneurs get a scarcity mindset about their product, but your competitors are your best friends. And in fact they have the target audience that would like your course too. So if you can find a way to fit in, maybe you can create an adjacent offer that would be perfect for them. That's something that would be a win-win for all of you.” — Julie Berninger Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Julie: Check out Gold City Ventures Gold City Ventures Facebook Page Follow Julie on Instagram Julie's Podcast: Fire Drill on IG! We've all grown comfortable working in our loungewear and favorite Lululemons since COVID completely changed work culture. But does that mean you should bid a forever goodbye to the luxury of dressing up and experimenting with your look? Not at all! In fact… it's time you reintroduce the fun of fashion into your everyday life! And this isn't just for vanity-sake… There's an inherent, powerful connection between how you look and how you feel. On days you don't want to leave your (adorable) pajama set, Netflix and chill is the only thing on your agenda. But when you're meeting friends for a lively dinner or hitting a new vacation spot, you want to pull out all your show stopping wardrobe features! So what's to say you can't find a happy medium (and achieve success along the way)? Playing with style was always in the cards for Katie Allen. Fashion was her calling but chose to check other boxes with a traditional marketing career. So when COVID hit and she was without a job, Katie was left with the time and space to wonder: who am I? And more importantly, how can I deeper connect to that woman I've always known myself to be? One fateful encounter spent spewing style advice from her bathtub granted Katie the clarity she was looking for. (All the while launching her very own podcast and participating in a business mastermind, by the way!) Katie leant into her truest desire and launched her business designed to empower women by creating their own unstoppable style. And now she's showing everyone how to put on their power with confidence and clarity! I'm so ecstatic to welcome the fabulous Katie Allen onto this week's IHML Show! Not only is Katie sharing her success story, but she educates us on the interconnectedness of our wardrobe with core values. She even shares the connection fashion has to our menstrual cycle. Together we're discussing the importance of styling for success and why it's crucial we experiment with our day-to-day look. If there's anything trendsetting Katie has learned, it's that you deserve to feel like your best self no matter the occasion. So open up that closet and start sifting through the clothes that haven't seen the light of day… because you (and your next-level self) know you've outgrown them and deserve a fresh hot look! In This Episode: [0:51] Katie welcomes us into her stylish world and starts us off with her story! [4:11] The early thoughts and inspiration behind Katie's podcast (before she rediscovered her stylistic calling). [6:53] Katie divulges her true intentions for joining a business mastermind in early 2020— without a business! [9:53] These are some of the shifts Katie underwent under the guidance of her coaches to help her move through her dark times. [13:41] How mind mapping empowered Katie to achieve ultimate clarity surrounding her work with styling! [16:23] Did you know you can manifest your desires with your clothes? Katie explains the deeper connection between them! [20:12] Katie breaks down how to figure out what to wear based upon your instinctual feelings. [22:04] FYI, you CAN dress according to your menstrual cycle according to Katie's expertise! [25:11] If you're stuck in your Lululemon and sweatpants phase, this is the advice Katie has for you to start experimenting more… [31:00] This is Katie's wisdom and guidance on how to create a life better than your dreams Quotes: “Everyone would always ask me ‘what are you gonna do? What are you gonna do with that degree? Are you gonna move to New York? What are you gonna do?' And I was like, I don't know. I'm just trusting that it's gonna figure itself out.” — Katie Allen “At the time I was a breadwinner and I really identified with that as a powerful woman.” — Katie Allen “To make a really long story short, a friend of mine was like ‘Hey, I have a client she's on a photoshoot with to help her pick out what to wear'. And I just was like sending her ideas and helping her strap from my bathtub. And my friend was like, how much do I owe you? And I was like, nothing. I'd do it for free cuz I was in the bathtub and it was fun. And she said, no, Katie people get paid to do this. And it was like the heavens parted. And I was like, oh my God, this is what I was always supposed to be doing. Um, and that is like long story short on how I came back to styling and really have just like immersed myself into using it as a tool to help women just like feel amazing and you know, go after their dreams” — Katie Allen “Podcasting was a portal for me into really finding myself. And when I started listening, I was just listening to women talk in a way I've never heard like strong women talk. And I was like, ‘oh my God, this is amazing. I think I'm supposed to be doing this too!' I love to be really vulnerable. I have always been an oversharer, and for a long time I felt shame. And in the professional corporate world, people are like, ‘you can't talk like that and you can't say this and you can't say that, it's not professional'. So it became like this outlet for me to just talk about the journey. And quite frankly, I just felt dead inside and I was like, there's gotta be other women who have chased that dream of checking the box and still feel like something's missing.” — Katie Allen “I never identified with an entrepreneur because I didn't identify with taking risks. I felt really, really safe, just checking those boxes. And I don't know at what point in my life I just started to shove down those desires.” — Katie Allen “I think that part of the journey was that I had to go through and go back to the corporate job. I had to negotiate for the money. I had to try to start a business with someone else because I didn't trust that I could run a business by myself.” — Katie Allen “When I was mind mapping, I was really back to that [important question], ‘what are my real values?' Because I had been in this business mastermind I did feel like I knew what my values were, I knew what I wanted. So [I asked myself] what could I do every day to get back to that?.” — Katie Allen “I tell my clients all the time: getting dressed for yourself is so much more powerful than getting dressed for other people.” — Katie Allen “[That mind mapping is when] I had gotten that aha moment of, oh my God, style is so much more than just helping people pick out clothes. It's how we feel in our bodies. We can literally transform our moods and our energy from moment to moment with the colors that we wear, the fabrics that we wear, the clothes that we wear, the sounds that our jewelry makes and all of those things coming together. At that moment it kind of just clicked. And then I realized that style coaching was a whole association. There are people that do this for a living. And I was like, oh my God, where have I been my whole life?” — Katie Allen “So when I start working with people, I always go back to [this idea that] we have our core values as people that probably stick with us most of our time but then on a day to day basis and what's going on in our lives. I always try to honor the fact that we're multifaceted and we wear different hats, we're doing different things. And I always bring it back to ‘how do you want to feel today?' So one of my clients referred to this as like people have their core desired feelings, she was like, ‘oh, these are like my core style feelings.' So it's this idea of like, how do you wanna feel today? And then what makes you feel that way physically like your clothes, something that you can adorn your body with. And then it's the physical reminder as you move through the day.” — Katie Allen “There's nothing wrong with wearing sweatpants or leggings, but I think that you probably know naturally when you have those clothes on, you're like ‘I'm relaxing, this isn't really my creative energy' vibe and that's fine. That's more of just like a relaxing and receiving mode, but sometimes we have to be in creating mode too.” — Katie Allen Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Katie: Find Katie on Instagram Listen to Katie's Podcast: STYLED FOR LIFE Work with Katie Allen
The women in our community crave a life encompassing everything that lights us up, ranging from our career to travel to creativity. And I've seen firsthand many women change their life course by following through with their ideas and desires. Over the years, I've (Emily) had to undergo some serious ups and downs to discover what alignment looks like to me— and how I want to inspire that in others. When I launched I Heart My Life in 2014, I was operating from a heart-centered space of desire. I was barely making $25K as a matchmaker in London and knew there was more destined for myself, soon learning that I wasn't alone. I created the IHML community because it was the space I needed to follow my dreams, and desired to include the many other heart-centered women looking for the same thing. Now I Heart My Life has morphed into something beyond my wildest imagination! Recently, I had a blast sharing my story on another podcast hosted by one of our clients and friends Victoria Fenton. I wanted to share this interview with you on the IHML Show to give you insight into some of the BTS that has been going on with me as well as our company. Some of my big aha's as well as learnings over the last few months. I'm utterly ecstatic for this week's very personal IHML Show episode! I talk about how (and why) I Heart My Life by detailing everything from my business to my personal transformations. I share my inspiration for the company, some of my best (and worst) entrepreneurial moments, and the importance of living with heart. We also share a great perspective on building a business, including the necessary money and mindset shifts! If you've been eyeing your vision board a little longer than usual, itching to pull it right from the screen (or wall) and into reality… this is totally your episode! It's candid, concise, and complete with our personal advice on how to start heart-ing your life like never before. In This Episode: [2:34] Emily dives into where her passion lies for creating a heart-centered lifestyle and how that serves as inspiration for her Luxe Mastermind! [5:55] Listen to Emily detail the most recent IHML Experience she hosted that transcended every other retreat. [8:32] The evolutionary changes Emily and her companies have taken on! [12:04] Emily shares her tips for recognizing the tell-tale signs of heading towards rock bottom. [14:04] Here's how to nail down what you truly desire… and make it happen! [18:39] Emily details how she tunes into the energy of her life. [21:39] This is the direction I Heart My Life and Emily are taking as they move forward! [25:06] Here's how to move through your own limiting beliefs thanks to Emily's wisdom. [28:36] Emily shares the deets on her professional and personal dynamics with her husband James! [32:10] Why it's an investment to surround yourself with exceptional people, according to Emily. [36:53] These are the exciting things coming up for I Heart My Life! Quotes: “Because I think when you start a business and you work with clients, you don't anticipate all the shifts or the results that they're going to have. And so I just wanna put that out there because I feel like we can impact people in a greater way than we ever expect.” — Emily Williams “We really wanted to create something that was intimate and high level, that included group as well as one-to-one support, because what we found is that even if people had a group program, ultimately they'd want more support, especially at your level and the level of your colleagues.” — Emily Williams “From the get go in my business, I've hosted events at five-star locations. And even from the very beginning with new coaches or new entrepreneurs who I was working with, they would purchase tickets to a location they've never experienced. And they would get in the room and be like, ‘Oh my gosh, like my life has literally changed just by being here'. Because they didn't have a passport before that they had never been in a five-star location. They'd never been around high level women. And so just seeing half of the transformations happen just by putting yourself in a new environment. We knew because of that, we wanted to take all of our incredible clients to just life-changing places.” — Emily Williams “I just knew that the transformation required more than just sitting behind a computer.” — Emily Williams “I'm really passionate about compressing your timeline and recognizing you don't have to wait until you retire, or that thing on your vision board doesn't have to stay up there for decades. You can literally bring it into the present moment. And when you do everything starts to shift.” — Emily Williams “It's [my mission] been very clear since the beginning, but I always thought, ‘okay this will naturally happen. It'll naturally start to morph into what I wanted to really be'. But I realized at that moment in January 2020, that I actually needed to send it in the direction it was meant to go.” — Emily Williams “And so it was just to the point where the desire for change and for this to be what I always envisioned it to be became greater than the fear. And I think that's when real transformation happens: you tune into what it is you really want and that becomes way more important than the fear holding you back.” — Emily Williams “But for me, I couldn't see the purpose in what I was doing because I knew it wasn't in alignment with the overall vision of I Heart My Life. Yes, it was a stepping stone, but it wasn't like I had just launched a brand new membership that was completely in alignment and I needed to give it time to take off. I was doing things that I didn't wanna offer long-term. And again, sometimes those are stepping stones, but for me, I started to realize that wasn't the case. So I think you need to look at what you're doing and ask yourself, ‘is it purposeful right now?' Even if it's not feeling pleasurable, is it leading to the next thing, and is it contributing to the big picture vision?” — Emily Williams “Your body and your emotions are giving clues all the time and it might not be immediate. But every single day, you'll start to see certain indicators of what it is that you are craving. And so I would recommend writing those down or writing, you know, typing it on your phone and the notes app, or just having a record of it. And then you can start to categorize certain things. So maybe it's a big picture desire. Maybe it's a desire for the next five years, maybe the next year, maybe the next 90 days. And you'll start to get clearer around what it is that you are aiming for.” — Emily Williams “You just have to pay attention to all the ways that you're expanding and saturate your mind with reminders of what other people are capable of. And again, instill that belief in yourself and know that if other people are doing it, you can do it too.” — Emily Williams “Regardless of whether it's a friend or a partner or whoever's on your team, just recognizing ‘what are people's zones of genius? How are they meant to work? What is their natural flow?' And not trying to force that square peg into the round hole, just because it would be convenient or whatever. And just accepting people for their goals and just their design.” — Emily Williams “When you're around people who are inspiring you, cheering you on, it really is a game changer.” — Emily Williams Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Victoria Fenton: Follow Victoria on Instagram Follow Victoria on Linkedin Join the Unveil Academy Victoria's links
When the seas are choppy and the storm brews around you, how do you best navigate to safety? Do you follow a beacon of hope or find that guiding light within? Truthfully, we all have the ability to be that bright beam of relief in times of chaos— for ourselves and others. But that means channeling all our resources, wisdom, and bravery to take the adventure head-on. Which is why it's absolutely important to learn how to navigate disruption in life (and business!)... so you don't get lost in the sea of failure. You've experienced disruption one way or another. It's defined as an event or series of them that ultimately alter your desired course of action. It could be losing a job, enduring a global pandemic, and in many cases of business, undergoing a serious transition. Which is something that innovative entrepreneur and tourism guru David Giersdorf experienced firsthand— ultimately becoming the master of navigating disruption. After his family lost their thriving Alaskan tourist business to a large company, David felt called to prepare himself (and those around him) for brutal storms that could potentially lie ahead. He learned that the best way to step into his identity as a leader was to lean into failure and cultivate protocols that harness our inner power while remaining vigilant about the world circulating around us. David's riveting boat metaphors combined with his entrepreneurial mastery makes him such an inspiring guest for the IHML Show! I'm so happy to welcome this wise and wonderful man onto this week's episode to discuss how to navigate disruption in life and business, the highs and lows of business, different kinds of disruption, and the protocols David details in his best-selling book Hard Ships: Navigating Your Company, Career, and Life through the Fog of Disruption. My talk with David was an emotionally inspiring one, being that both of us come from entrepreneurial families who've endured loss. But if either of us has taken anything away from those experiences, it's that diving head first into the waters can seem scary at first… but there's so much for you to learn (and experience) beneath the waves. Set sail towards your dream life now by tackling uncharted territory and embrace your inner compass! In This Episode: [0:56] David starts us off with his personal journey and introduces us to a never-before-heard topic on the IHML Show! [5:25] What led to David's first shattering experience with disruption and what he learned from it. [11:17] This is what David believes is what's enabling you to deny your power. [13:04] David shares how he discovered a passion for disruption after his family's business loss. [17:22] So what is disruption? David expertly defines it for us! [19:37] These are the signs to look out that you're experiencing a slow leak disruption (according to David). [21:33] David walks us through the process of handling a disruption in your business with his six protocols! [32:07] Wanna step into your role as a leader? Listen to David's wisdom! [35:04] How disruption can impact you— even if you don't own a business. [38:20] David tells us what he's most proud of throughout his incredibly diverse career! [40:03] What can you do to create a life better than your dreams? You know David is giving us ALL the best guidance and inspiration! Quotes: “Now, your life's work never goes away. You find ways to apply it in new ways. And that's one of the great things about disruption that you learn over time is with each disruption comes new opportunity. And you have to hold that mindset in order to see those opportunities out there around the near corner and grab a hold of them.” — David Giersdorf “There's no line between personal and businesses we talk about in larger corporations, the work/life balance. No, there's just the company, the vision, the mission. So you lose that, it's a huge loss when that comes to an end.”— David Giersdorf “I've always thought that to deny your role in a failure is to deny your power.” — David Giersdorf “We're so focused on success and failure, black and white. And I'm less interested in your successes and your failures. I'm more interested in: what did you learn? And from that, what did you do next? And from that, how are you contributing? There's more lessons and failure than success for sure. And different types of lessons. Why don't we pay attention more to that because we are gonna go on, we have to go on. So let's not treat failure like it's the end of the world, let's treat it like it's another form of stepping stone to the next future.” — David Giersdorf “I'm a journaler, I've kept journals for decades. I journal my business experiences and insights as well as my personal life. And so I had this idea of Hard Ships probably 20 years ago. I copyrighted it and started jotting down some notes. And I had these decades of journals that I could go back to and really recap: what was that disruption? How did it impact the business and myself and my life and my career and what did I do about it? What was the outcome? And that gave me some great insight. When COVID arrived on the scene, I knew it was time for the message. I've always wanted to contribute in meaningful ways. And I felt that my message around navigating disruption and, and the other side of that is recovery. You know, disruption and recovery, something I'd feel really good about contributing. So, um, I went about the work of getting the book written and published and available.” — David Giersdorf “Disruption is a change in circumstances. We're all good at operating in fair weather and fair seas. Let's say we assume and expect it to go on forever. It never does, but that's how we behave. But disruption is that event or circumstance that changes the trajectory and the expectations under which you were operating.” — David Giersdorf “I always look at the behavior and attitude of my customers. Customers lead the way into a disruption, their behaviors. And they are early indicators of what the next normal's gonna look like coming out of a disruption.” — David Giersdorf “Things have changed. So should you, so should your thinking, so should your approach. How can you partner with the future differently? What do these changes and the response of the world around those changes suggest to you in terms of new opportunities or new risks that you need to become open-minded personally, organizationally, career-wise to address in order to have a successful recovery.” — David Giersdorf “We have north stars, we have lighthouses, we have buoys with lights on them. Are you living for true fulfillment or the “next best thing”? If you answer the latter, then it's certainly manifesting in your daily life (and in ways, you don't even realize). The chronic fatigue, painfully low vibrations, even your food choices! Our physical health is typically the first to experience the most aggressive symptoms of not living for fulfillment. So why are we still being conditioned to bypass these terrible feelings? A lot of the time, those deliciously salty foods and long hours at the gym aren't going to give you the joy that you're looking for. But there are powerful resources and communities out there who know the truth: you have the power and ability to really heal. And like all major transformations, this one must start from within you. Powerful manifestors like Mona Sharma have utilized this same innate power to rediscover what joy really is. When she was desperate for relief, Mona laid it all out on the table— literally. Having two heart surgeries (one of which she was awake for) woke her up to the painful reality she was living. Fulfillment felt so far-fetched to her that she escaped through disempowered life choices. So she decided to return to her roots and seek guidance from the Ashram lifestyle. This philosophy molded her early years so powerfully that they became the foundation for her coaching approaches. Resorting to the power of food and mindfulness helped Mona turn her own life around, and now she facilitates the same caliber of transformation for her high-profile clients! In fact, Mona's made a stellar recurring appearance on the Red Table Talk, where the Smith family details their own healing journey. I'm utterly excited to invite the dynamic entrepreneur Mona Sharma onto the IHML Show! Together we dissect how our mindset manifests through health, Ashram philosophy, how to truly seek fulfillment, and Mona's personal journey with food and mindfulness. Mona's energy lights up the room (and webcam screen) with liveliness, passion, and intellect like you wouldn't believe. As a personal fan of Mona's work, I know that her teachings are going to change the way you look at your health. More importantly, how you make the most empowered decisions to heal it! Don't be discouraged from seeking fulfillment— it might be the key to unlocking your truest purpose and passion. In This Episode: [0:42] Mona takes us on a ride through finding personal meaning in her work centering health and wellness. [5:07] This is the moment Mona knew it was time to make a change… [6:46] Listen as Mona details her first steps towards experiencing Ashram life and receiving her yoga teacher certification! [8:27] These are some of the realizations Mona uncovered in her mindset contributing to her health issues. [11:25] Mona details how her journey helped her rediscover her childlike joy later in life. [13:59] These are the essentials that guided Mona to leave her corporate job and pursue her purpose. [16:27] Mona shares the physical manifestations of her self-love transformation through her blossoming health. [20:09] How does your vibration impact your weight and health? Mona explains it to us! [24:12] Mona shares how she navigates food triggers and the mindful practices she implements. [27:18] More tips on how to transform your emotional and physical health from Mona (and how to turn them into rituals for your optimal self). [31:30] The importance of self-love and releasing the fear of failure on our health journey. [35:00} Mona divulges her masterful manifestation practices and how to attract her incredible coaching clientele! [37:44] Wanna create a life that's better than your dreams? Mona shares her piece of wisdom to guide you! Quotes: “They're [the doctors] trying to take away what's causing me pain and suffering. But there was no introspection around my stress, my anxiety, what I was eating, my lack of fulfillment, my joy, how I was abusing my body at that time with food and alcohol. So that was like the buildup.” — Mona Sharma “We talked a lot about, you know, following the nudges, trusting the nudges, whenever you get those nudges, it's a yes, your soul is saying yes, follow that path. And that's what I did.” — Mona Sharma “The beauty around [ashram life is] that it causes you to shut down all of the open running tabs that are constantly running in your brain, hundreds of them. Every day. So what you're left to focus on is you, how you're feeling, the recurring thoughts that are coming up and sabotaging you, your avoidance of listening to the nudges that are actually cuing you to heal.” — Mona Sharma “Growing up with immigrant parents, I was just chasing success. I just had to be successful. I'm also Indian. I wasn't a doctor or a lawyer or an accountant. So I felt like I had to prove myself in the beauty industry. And I did, I got to the top really, really fast. I got the salary, but I was miserable. Um, I had always struggled with this idea of not fitting in, coming from a, an interracial couple, um, going to a Catholic school and then going to the temple on the weekend, there was that, and this idea of body image, which women, especially, I think from, from my generation, we just were always in comparison and this feeling of lack. And I really live with that. Nothing I did was ever good enough. And as this hardcore driven a type, I proved to myself that I could do whatever I set my mind to, but the fulfillment was never there.”— Mona Sharma “Growing up with immigrant parents, I was just chasing success. I just had to be successful. I'm also Indian, I wasn't a doctor or a lawyer or an accountant. So I felt like I had to prove myself in the beauty industry. And I did, I got to the top really, really fast. I got the salary, but I was miserable.” — Mona Sharma “It was always ‘alright, what's next, what's next.' What's next? And that's the recipe for illness and the recipe for unhappiness. And what the hell's the point in living every day on this autopilot and for what? There is no personal joy and fulfillment.” — Mona Sharma “When I was pregnant again, I was like, okay, every day is gonna be around loving myself, which is crazy because we're never taught how to love ourselves.” — Mona Sharma “There's coaches who really will help you find your soul purpose, seek that out alongside your obligation until you figure out a path of exit.” — Mona Sharma “If food is information for your body, what information are you giving it?” — Mona Sharma “Now the challenge that comes for me, coaching my clients is that we actually live in a society that sets us up for failure and it effing sucks. All right, scientists are hired by big food companies to make foods more addictive than anything found in nature, higher in fat, sugar, and salt that rewards the reward center in our brain.” — Mona Sharma “So often we start these diets or protocols or working with a nutritionist or a coach, and we want these results to happen overnight. But then all of a sudden with consistency over time, as we learn the behavior, change, that vibrational change that has to happen, the results will come, but acknowledge the fact that this time possibly for the first time in your life, you're doing it in a healthy state, in a healthy way. That's going to create a change for the rest of your life.” — Mona Sharma I would say that the greatest opportunities that have come my way have come completely left field, but they always come when I'm living in a state of being that was honoring me. — Mona Sharma Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Mona Sharma: Follow Mona on Instagram Subscribe to Mona's Email Newsletter Mona Sharma's Official Website

[26:23] The well-awaited financial level-up Stacey was ecstatic to share with us! [29:54] Stacey shares the other shifts that brought her to where she is now. [32:15] And of course, Stacey shares her tidbit of wisdom that'll have you creating a life beyond your dreams! Quotes “I had no business. I did sales, I did marketing. I had business acumen, but not my own. I'd never created my own business. So I was like a sponge. I just listened. I didn't come thinking I knew everything. And it was also about who do I want to be as a business woman and to be unapologetic, you [Emily Williams] were the first person that I'd ever heard use the word unapologetic and new normal. And those phrases resonated with my soul and I thought, wow, actually, what type of business woman do I want to be? What type of coach, you know, what does it even entail? And so everything, like I said, everything in the course, I was just absorbing.” — Stacey Sargison If you're just out the gate [with your business], then you've got to kind of move into it and feed into it and use your own language and go move through your confidence. So a lot of it for me wasn't really confidence in showing up right now, I have no problem with that. But it was confidence in not one and not being somebody else. It was really stepping into not just what type of business owner, what do I want to be, but what type of woman, how do I want to show up?” — Stacey Sargison “As a recovering people pleaser, that [owning my identity] was the biggest thing for me was to really publicly declare the type of life that I desire and go out with Gusto and believe that this isn't just some nice, expensive hobby.” — Stacey Sargison “If people are watching me and looking for me for guidance, then I have to be the example myself.” — Stacey Sargison “I had to have the fire in my belly to prove to other people, most of all, myself, that I could do it again.” — Stacey Sargison “And I am so grateful that I carried on and didn't give up when it really looked like what the hell was going to come from this. I just had faith that you have the desire for a reason. You [Emily] taught me that you have the desire for a reason, trust it, because it really will have your back in moments where I really thought it didn't. It was actually my saving grace and it stopped me. It helped me come out of a very dark time because the desire was the only thing I had. And so I latched on to it, trusted it, and it brought me here.” — Stacey Sargison “It's also the level of trust in yourself for what you're actually putting out into the world and honoring that at the level in which you want to honor it at.” — Stacey Sargison “Stop listening to people whose lives you're not inspired by like, just cool. You do you right now. Focus, watch people who are doing things that you're excited by. Stop taking advice from people who are boring. I know that sounds harsh, but love and light.” — Stacey Sargison Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Stacey Find Stacey on Instagram Stacey Sargison's Website Stacey Sargison on Facebook
When you blend transformation with travel, there's no telling what massively positive shifts are in store. So when James and I started brainstorming how to make Bora Bora an IHML reality, we desired more than just a luxury retreat. From the moment our attendees set foot off their boat on this indescribably beautiful (and remote) island, we wanted them to embody a new level of change. More importantly, embrace a refreshingly well-earned reality. This IHML Experience was special for numerous reasons. Not only was it a first for our clients, but for us as well! I've been desiring to see this South Pacific paradise for myself forever, but this specific trip has been snowballing since 2017. Bora Bora is this oasis some people dream of visiting, fantasizing about making it a retirement or late-life travel spot. But why should we force ourselves to wait for that type of energizing experience? James and I are all about collapsing timelines, and this opportunity made for the perfect catalyst! To ensure this transformation was going to benefit both life and work we had to assess the common themes in entrepreneurship, especially in ambitious women. The constant hustle, lack of self-care, and struggle with self-belief were the common, detrimental denominators. We craved something truly immersive, a way to show these women what's really possible when they step into their best selves. And that demands a release of the mindset that doesn't serve their passion, purpose, and strategy. Our days spent in Bora Bora proved that anything is possible when you allow yourself to step into the opportunity. Which is why we're taking this IHML Show episode to talk about the shifts we ourselves experienced, our client's shifts, the importance of self-belief, and what the future holds for IHML Experiences! This one set such a high standard, we can only imagine where this movement will go from here! Paradise can be a very real possibility for you— if you set out on the journey to find it! In This Episode: [0:20] The first thoughts of inspiration for IHML to take on Bora Bora. [4:27] James and I describe our arrival and first moments in Bora Bora plus what came up (amidst other big changes). [8:41] These are some of the massive transformations James observed in our clients! [10:36] I share my favorite moment in Bora Bora (plus a client's major shift). [13:07] James harps on the importance of recognizing your achievements. [16:42] I opened up the conversation with James about the cruciality of self-care for ambitious women and entrepreneurs. [21:21] The power of being present, according to James— and a particular hotel staff member who embodied it in every sense! [26:45] Tune into the next phase of IHML Experiences (and what inspires this level of transformation and travel)… [34:13] James has a message for those of you struggling with worthiness. [37:44] Where you can start applying for upcoming IHML Experiences! Quotes: “As with everything, it was a sign of something very, very important, which I've come to realize that I Heart My Life's intention is always impact first. So the best possible experiences and experiences that are gonna have the greatest possible outcome as the number one priority” — James Williams “I do think from the outside looking in, like, it was a bit risky to, um, you know, sign the contract and move forward with this, not knowing how many people we were gonna get in our program and get at the actual experience itself. And, um, you know, like you said, it does require some courage, but I really believe that if my heart is calling me to do something, there is a reason for that.” — Emily Williams “There was a tangible kind of energy. You could feel it even flying in then finally landing and getting there. You know, I think we both know, yes, this is going to be incredible, not just for the clients, but for us because it was so far outside of the bubble of our lives, of the world which is so full of information right now.” — James Williams “And I think the word that kept coming up for everyone was just paradise because it is so secluded and every hotel has their own island essentially. And we kept saying, it's kind of like Disney world, but it's what Disney world tried to recreate. And this is actually natural and the real thing.” — Emily Williams “I was actually being interviewed by somebody else recently and he hit the nail on the head and he said, okay, so what you're telling me about these experiences, it basically sounds like 50% of the transformational work is done just by them signing up and then the rest happens and the actual place itself.” — Emily Williams “When people show up and come to a new place, like that's something that's so beyond what they thought would be possible for them, at least for most of our clients. And it really is that whole experience of, of your vision board coming to life. That is life-changing in every sense of the word.” — Emily Williams “The commitment to such a huge experience that in itself was hard to get to is a metaphor for the goals and dreams that we have in life.” — James Williams “50% of the work had been done because all they were left with was the best version of themselves. The most inspired version that had the ability to pick out the voices that were in alignment with the truth of where they wanted to go.” — James Williams “The environment we put ourselves in is a huge part of personal work. You know you'll spend a lot of time making your home look the way you want it to look, you buy the clothes that represent you, all of these things. So when it comes to progress, the deepest work, the work on ourselves, all of these things aren't changing. So yet you want to be this bigger version of yourself, but you're trying to do it in this environment that still represents where you are, not where you want to be. It makes the growth so much easier, so much more powerful when you consciously put yourself in a curated, intentional environment of abundance. That is food and fuel for their growth.” — James Williams “What we've found is that entrepreneurs come to us thinking they need a business strategy or marketing or whatever those tangible things are and tangible in terms of the business sense. And what we realize is they actually need to slow down. They need the mindset work, they need to take better care of themselves.” — Emily Williams “It's the most important thing because you could have the best marketing team in the world. You could have the best strategist, the best quality of material in the world for whatever it is you do or sell. But unless you, as the leader of the company or of your life, is capable of showing up as that best person every single day, then all of that stuff is never gonna be as powerful.” — James Williams “ A big theme for me over the last few years is recognizing I run a company, I Heart My Life. And there were many, many periods where I didn't feel that way. And I was so about the work that I was doing and it was very unbalanced and so really starting to implement rest and recovery, but things that also fuel me and bring me joy.” — Emily Williams “You and I have talked about it many times since returning back to Texas, we just ask ourselves: how can we bring Bora Bora and the way that we were and the way that we showed up and what we experienced back into our reality here? And that's always the goal for us. We're very aware that when people attend events and retreats, it's great while you're in the room, but then what happens when you get back into real life?” — Emily Williams “It's your responsibility to make the most out of this life, be the best person you can be. So the legacy you leave behind is something that you are gonna be so proud of and that your family and the people around you are gonna be so grateful for.” — James Williams “The online space has so many benefits, but being in person, it just creates a deeper level of connection. And we saw that firsthand at our Bora Bora retreat.” — Emily Williams Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com
