Last year I decided I wanted to train as a coach and develop my coaching practice, so I could work more deeply with my clients and help them get even better results. I chose to train with Optimus Coach Academy, founded by Ruth Kudzi and haven't looked back since. The 6 month training for my ACTP Professional Coach Diploma was phenomenal and I'm currently working towards completing my hours as an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. In this week episode I invited Ruth to not only talk about the coach training but also the social impact she is able to create through her successful businesses, why this is important to her and the power coaching can have to change the world. Ruth Kudzi is the CEO of Ruth Kudzi Coaching Ltd and the Optimus Coach Academy. She is an award-winning MCC coach (ICF), coach trainer, best-selling author, and podcaster. Ruth set up Optimus Coach Academy in 2019 and has trained over 1000 coaches on the ACTP Professional Coach Diploma and CPD events they have held. Optimus is recognised as one of the most highly regarded coach training schools in the UK and is rated excellent by trustpilot. Through coaching, leaders are able to support their teams and enhance their overall performance and engagement. Some companies use coaching models like GROW, but there's so much more to a coaching approach than a single model. Ruth Kudzi is a business coach who helps her clients leverage their leadership skills and build their resilience, so they have businesses that represent them. In addition to her own successful coaching business and as a former Deputy Head Teacher and accredited trainer she wanted to create her own academy to support people in becoming coaches. Her coaching certification program combines a variety of approaches including neuroscience, positive psychology, personality profiling, normative models, and transactional analysis. In this episode, Ruth and I discuss the coaching crisis in the UK that is caused by an influx of coaching programs that simply promise to make money quickly, and the increase of skeptical clients. Ruth talks about the importance of shifting your client's mindsets to improve the quality and integrity of your coaching program. We discuss the ethics of selling and how to properly use, not abuse, these techniques, and when to say, “I cannot help you”. Ruth also shares some advice on how to build your first 10 clients. “If you're really going to change people's behavior, you have to go deeper because otherwise it's like just building a house with no foundation. So, I think a coach needs to understand what's going on in people's brains."- Ruth Kudzi This week on Book Yourself Solid® Marketing For Coaches Podcast: Why clients are becoming more skeptical of coaching programs The need to go deeper with clients and shift mindsets The difference between coaching, consulting, and mentorship How do we know if we need a coach? and how to choose one. This week I'm speaking to my former mentor, Ruth Kudzi. Ruth works with established entrepreneurs who want to uplevel their mindset and strategy to scale, and also trains people to become certified coaches. When she went through coaching training herself she noticed a big gap - there was no training on how to actually get clients. She decided to build her own certified coaching academy using a variety of approaches which have a strong foundation in Psychology and Neuroscience, helping coaches build businesses they love so they can feel fulfilled and have financial reward.Ruth and I discuss:Why Ruth decided to shut down some of the most profitable parts of her businessThe three R's: referrals, reputation, and resultsWhy you don't need to have a complex funnel to be successfulOutsourcing and why you don't have to do it all to be authenticPushing your content towards what you want to monetizeScheduling self-care into your routine and committing to itRuth's new program, Spiral - an energetic clearing system based in neuroscienceRuth's Book Recommendation for the Ambitious Introvert: Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Joe DispenzaConnect With Ruth:https://ruthkudzi.com/https://www.facebook.com/groups/thecoachescommunityRK/https://www.instagram.com/ruthkudzi/Connect with me:www.emmalouiseparkes.comInstagram: @emmalouparkesFacebook Group: The Ambitious Introvert Network
Welcome to the Cracking Content Podcast, helping entrepreneurs to amplify their expertise through storytelling, content and PR, so they can get more sales and make a bigger impact. Every business has a story to tell. Don't be afraid to tell it. In this episode, I'm interviewing Ruth Kudzi, who is a master level coach and coach trainer. Also, I've worked with her personally and I'm currently doing her coach training. [0:47} I'm Ruth Kudzi. I'm a master level coach with the ICF, which is the highest level you can get. Business and mindset coach, coach trainer, podcaster and best-selling author. {1:38} The coach training business, we actually set it up at the end of 2019. Our first cohort went through in 2020. {2:13} We're recruiting our third cohort in February. We've got three groups within that cohort. I'm super excited to see the people that are signing up, their experience, their skillset, and really get to know them because I would say the quality of people that we have on the course is amazing. {3:24} So mentoring, you're leading by what you know, and coaching, you're working with a person to work out what's in their head. So actually combining mentoring with a coaching approach means that you're able to help your clients overcome their mindset issues and make more progress. {4:19} I prefer doing content like podcasts or video. I used to love and will do it again, but I used to have days where I would just go in with my video guy and we'd literally do like six or seven videos in a day. And then he would get those all edited and upload them onto YouTube. We also then share those on our Facebook page, get them transcribed and then they become emails and they become content posts. {6.48} Don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. There's a thing that Tony Robbins says, “what if your worst day was actually your best day?”. So what if the worst thing happened and then you were able to learn so much and grow so much. Ruth works with new business start-up's and businesses looking to scale by tuning into who they are and helping them build a business that attracts their target clients. In this episode, she explains that one of the biggest fears that she comes across with her clients is the fear of visibility, particularly the fear of rejection and failure. Ruth shares the challenges that making the move from employed work to going it alone raises such as that fear of visibility and the much talked about imposter syndrome! Ruth is refreshingly candid and talks about her belief in showing vulnerability and being authentic and real to engage and inspire. And it is that authenticity Ruth has demonstrated in her various communities and groups she has built through leading by example, being open and interacting with others. When it comes to helping her clients achieve their actions, Ruth talks about accountability and commitment going beyond just the ‘how' you'll do it through to what will it ‘feel' like and what does that mean in terms of progress. Ruth touches on the importance of kindness, how she learnt to set boundaries after having none! And she reminds us that the true measure of our work isn't by the number of hours spent working but the impact we have.
