The third saying from the cross is found in John 19:26-27, "Woman, behold thy son!" and then, "Behold thy mother!" Another saying that was selfless. John referred to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved. We can refer to ourselves as that as well. "He treats me best, I often say, but all God's children feel that way." Jesus wasn't being disrespectful of His mother when He called her woman. It was a term being close to the term ma'am. Jesus lived His life for the sake of the family. It is God's desire that we become members of the family. God is not the father of everyone, He is the creator of everyone. We are not His children until we are adopted through salvation. Satan will do things to thwart your relationship with God. The family is under attack and people are attempting to redefine family. God wants to bless the families. God created the very first family, Adam and Eve.

Welcome to the 1st service this morning. Today Pastor Gary Barber is preaching on Galatians 3 & 4 "Sons & Heirs." We are publishing both services this week because the Lord led Pastor Gary differently in each service. In the 1st service (this episode) Pastor Gary was led to spend most of his time on the first part of his sermon, on the centrality of the cross and the multi-faceted work of the cross and what it means for us. In the 2nd service (the next episode) Pastor Gary quickly covered this part again but went on to complete his outline, sharing the good news in Paul's message to the Galatians—we are "sons of God through faith in Jesus Christ...and if [sons], then [heirs] through God" (Galatians 3:26, 4:7). We urge you to try to take time to listen to both sermons. Be sure to download the sermon notes. Click "Download PDF" and they will open in a new window where you may print or save them.

Sunday sermons from Bellevue Presbyterian Church.
Continuing on in the 'Learning, Living and Giving the Good News' series, Pastor Jerry explores replacing religion with the self-realizing nature of the New Covenant. “Self-actualization” is the drive within every human being to become all we are capable of being; to transform all potential positive qualities into actual positive qualities. The way this relates to scripture is that, while the Old Covenant held us back with sin and law, the New Covenant has allowed us to fully realize our identity in Christ.

Galatians 3:26-4:7. Family is everything. Blood is thicker than water. But many of us here in Denver are far away from family. We’re transplants. Some of us don’t have the best relationships with our biological families. Yet we still long to be part of a loving, caring family. Thankfully God wants us to join his family, and it’s way better than our biological ones. In this message learn about the amazing benefits of being a child of God.

Once we are set free from the bondage of sin, are free in Christ. This applies equally to all regardless of who we are in the eyes of the world.
