At Cherry Hills Community Church, Pastor Gary Thomas challenged couples to raise the bar in their marriages from simply loving one another to truly cherishing one another. He cast a vision of what it looks like to treat your spouse as “outstanding among 10,000” — deeply valued, honored, and treasured. Cherishing isn't based on having a perfect partner, but on living out the gospel through grace, humility, and a commitment to believe the best. Rather than allowing busyness, distraction, or frustration to slowly erode intimacy, couples are invited to cultivate a new climate marked by intentional devotion and respect. When we move from love to love and cherish, marriage becomes not just something we maintain, but something we joyfully strengthen every day.
In this powerful message, Pastor Gary vulnerably shares his personal journey from pursuing musical success to discovering the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. Through the lens of Philippians 3, he challenges us to examine what we truly value by looking at our calendars, bank accounts, and decisions. Drawing from Paul's radical transformation, Pastor Gary illustrates how trading earthly treasures for Christ isn't about loss but eternal gain. He shares his own wake-up call when his daughter asked if he "lived at the church," prompting him to realign his priorities with his proclaimed values. With practical wisdom, he outlines three transformative values: treasuring Jesus above all else, investing in what lasts forever through discipleship, and living with eternal urgency. His compelling call to action urges listeners to close their own "value gaps" through intentional daily Bible reading, investing in one person for discipleship, and engaging in church service opportunities. The message resonates with both conviction and hope, reminding us that when we align our lives with eternal values, we don't lose—we gain everything that truly matters.

Have you ever heard or seen a public service announcement warning against digging in your yard? More often than not, there are natural gas lines, cable lines, and other utility lines buried underground, and it is important to ask someone to help you mark where those lines are so you can avoid causing an accident in your yard! But when it comes to your heart, you need help to identify the sin issues that remain in your life, so that you can cut them out! Pastor Gary teaches you that the Holy Spirit will illuminate those issues in your life, so that they can be removed!

What if 50 years from now, people look back at 2026 as the year that changed everything? In this powerful vision-casting message, Pastor Gary unveils a bold blueprint for transforming lives across New England through four strategic "plays." Drawing from Nehemiah's inspiring leadership, he challenges believers to move from spectators to active participants in God's kingdom work. The heart of the vision centers on developing three generations of disciple-makers, building a multiplying leadership pipeline, planting churches in every New England state, and saturating communities with the gospel. With 400,000 people within a 30-minute drive of the church, Pastor Gary emphasizes that reaching them isn't just about trying harder—it's about multiplying smarter through intentional discipleship and leadership development. He concludes with an urgent call to action: "The plays are called. The ball is in your hands. You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." The question that remains is simple yet profound: What will you do to lead people to Jesus in 2026?

If you love Jesus, you will fear God, and if you fear God, you will love Jesus! There can't be one without the other. Jesus showed us that firsthand and modeled what that life can and should look like. In today's message, Pastor Gary will share how important it is to be in the Word of God, to be attending a Church to be in Biblical community, and to have a strong and consistent prayer life! The Way you spend your time and energy will directly show where your love is and how much you fear God!
Spiritual Discipline Sunday: Tithing | Pastor Gary Smith by City of Life Church
In this message by Pastor Gary from our The Church Imagined series, we explore Paul's powerful picture of the church as the Body of Christ from 1 Corinthians 12. Jesus never designed believers to follow Him alone. We find spiritual strength and purpose in loving unity. Like parts of a human body working together, every member of the church is connected, necessary, and valuable. This sermon highlights five key truths: we belong to one another, every member matters, no one is greater than another, we share each other's suffering and joy, and the health of the church depends on staying responsive to Jesus, the Head of the body. In a culture that celebrates independence, this message calls us back to interdependence: serving, forgiving, praying for, and caring for one another. When the church lives in this kind of unity under Christ's leadership, it becomes a healthy and visible reflection of Jesus to the world.
This week, Pastor Gary continued our Established series with a focus on Patience, or "long-suffering," from the fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22. Long-suffering goes beyond mere patience; it is the enduring spirit that allows us to face trials, chronic struggles, and relational strife without losing hope or faith. Pastor Gary illuminated the Greek roots of the word, explaining how "makros" (long) and "thumos" (temper) come together to describe the enduring, patient spirit that helps us navigate life's challenges through the power of the Holy Spirit, not our own strength.

The Holy Spirit isn't some sort of mystical or magical being or even a fictional thing; He is God Himself in the form of a personal Spirit meant to help us! In today's message, Pastor Gary will reveal a sliver of who the Holy Spirit is and how you can have a personal relationship with Him! If you are a born-again Christian, you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you. How could you not have a deep and rich relationship with someone living that close to you?!
In this week's message from Pastor Gary, delivered amid the chill of a winter storm, we continued exploring the "Established" series, focusing on the profound gift of peace through the Holy Spirit. Pastor Gary opened with a compelling truth: this peace is not dependent on our circumstances but is a divine gift that surpasses human understanding. Through deep, purposeful prayer characterized by adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication, believers can experience a peace that guards their hearts and minds, much like a sentinel watching over a city.
How often do you help people? How often do you see or hear about someone in need and actually inconvenience yourself for the betterment of someone else's life? In today's message, Pastor Gary will point out that Jesus inconvenienced Himself. He surrendered His time to what the Lord wanted to do in and through Him. Look at how that worked out…look at all that Jesus accomplished by allowing the Lord to govern His decisions! So, today, stop and ask the Lord how you can help someone else!

Sometimes we think that God is absent during our difficult circumstances. Paul was “in chains” in prison in Rome for preaching the gospel, yet he wrote about how much joy he had! How can someone in prison have such joy? Answer: because his joy was in Jesus and he understood that no matter what his circumstances, God was accomplishing His divine purposes. That's why Paul would write in Philippians 1:13, “…my chains are in Christ.” In today's study, Pastor Gary shares how we can have joy in our difficult circumstances too with the right eternal perspective.
Pastor Gary Thomas challenges the church to rethink physical health as an act of worship in Week 3 of the Reset series at Cherry Hills Community Church. Rather than focusing on appearance or self-discipline, the message reframes caring for our bodies as offering ourselves to God as instruments for His service. Drawing from Scripture, Gary reminds us that our bodies belong to God and are meant to be used for His purposes, not merely admired or neglected. Through powerful stories and practical insight, he shows how physical habits can either limit or expand our ability to love, serve, and endure in our calling. This sermon invites everyone to embrace a sustainable, grace-filled motivation rooted in honoring God with our whole lives.
Have you ever felt God calling you to something bigger, only to face mounting opposition and internal doubt? In a powerful message on breakthrough and clarity, Pastor Gary unpacks the story of Nehemiah rebuilding Jerusalem's walls to reveal timeless wisdom for pressing forward in faith. Drawing from Nehemiah 4, he demonstrates how true breakthrough isn't about our capacity but God's, and how clarity becomes our anchor when pressure hits. Through Nehemiah's example, Pastor Gary illustrates three vital principles: staying focused on the mission rather than the noise, addressing internal fears with biblical truth, and balancing faith with practical action. His unique perspective emphasizes that progress silences critics faster than arguments ever will, and that our breakthrough requires both divine intervention and human responsibility. As City United Church embraces their year of breakthrough in 2026, Pastor Gary challenges everyone to write down their God-given "why" – the clear purpose that will fuel them through opposition. The urgent call is clear: maintain clarity, keep building, and trust that God will fight for us as we pursue His plans for our future.
Being a lukewarm Christian, or someone who just sits on the fence of full surrender, isn't a true Christian. Christians are people who follow God with everything they have; they're “little Christs”. In today's message, Pastor Gary will challenge you on where you stand with your faith. Are you on fire for God or barely wading in the water? God calls everyone to a passionate life devoted to Him and His ministry…does that describe you?! On fire, passionate, devoted?! These are all characteristics of a true Christian!

Today's sermon is God's Way or the Wrong Way by Gary Hamrick Find more teaching from Pastor Gary at www.cornerstonechapel.net
When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, God does not abandon us. On the contrary, He sends His Spirit to dwell in us and abide with us to help us run the race with perseverance. God is as much at work in bringing us to salvation as He is at work in keeping us saved! But it's not all on Him. We have a responsibility to “work out our salvation” too. Pastor Gary explains this encouraging promise in today's study from Philippians 1:6.
In this week's sermon, Pastor Gary unfolded the profound distinctiveness of Christianity as a "religion of love." Using Galatians 5, Pastor Gary emphasized that love is the cornerstone of the Spirit's fruit, nurturing other virtues like joy, peace, and kindness. He invited the congregation to reflect on whether their lives are truly established in God's love, emphasizing the importance of love's unconditional nature in transforming relationships and communities.
There are so many Christians who want to point out others' sins, but not even acknowledge their own. Some people consciously or unconsciously rank sin by their own judgment. There are varying consequences, but the heart behind sin is the same. In today's message, Pastor Gary will encourage you to let God be be judge of sin…your own sin and everyone else. It isn't fair for you to judge someone else while also still being a sinner. God loves ALL sinners and wants redemption for EVERYONE!
This is not a Christmas story. This is a story about perspective.About how the same moment can mean everything to one person—and almost nothing to another.Over the next twelve episodes on Together 4 Good, we're sharing real stories that remind us we don't all experience joy, meaning, or even God in the same way. This is not a Christmas story. But it is a real one.In this episode of Together for Good, Pastor Gary shares a formative story from his teenage years—one that begins with a brand-new Schwinn bike, a scorching summer day, and a long ride toward Kings Island that didn't exactly go as planned. What started as a straightforward journey quickly turned into a series of wrong turns, repeated hills, and decisions made without a map. And somewhere along those winding country roads, a deeper truth emerged: faith often works the same way. Many of us know where we hope our faith will lead—a deeper relationship with God, a sense of peace, meaning, or trust. But getting there isn't always clear. Do we pray more? Read Scripture differently? Join a group? Try something new? Sometimes we choose a path that feels right… only to find ourselves back where we started, facing the same challenges again. In this reflection, Pastor Gary reminds us that those moments aren't failures. They're part of the journey. Sometimes the road that feels like a setback is actually teaching us something essential. And sometimes we have to climb the same hill more than once before we discover what truly bears fruit. The good news? God doesn't disappear at the fork in the road. God stays—inviting us to choose again, to keep moving, and to trust that even the wrong turns can lead us closer to love.Learn more: https://bethany-denver.orgfaith stories, Christian storytelling, everyday faith, modern Christianity, spiritual reflections, faith and life, lived faith stories, faith beyond certainty

Have you ever found a mistake, and instead of correcting it right away, you just let it sit there until the last second? You knew it shouldn't be left undone, but you just didn't care enough about it to do anything until the pressure was on. Pastor Gary teaches you in his message today that when the Lord convicts you of sin in your life, you should purge it immediately. Don't allow sin to remain unchecked in your heart. The longer you allow sin in your life, the longer you will miss out on the blessings of God.
A lot of us will save up money to do special things for our families, like go on a nice vacation or go out to eat at an expensive restaurant. These are enjoyable activities, and can be a real treat for us. It's nice to work hard and then reap the benefits of all that hard work. In today's message, Pastor Gary challenges you with a question: What are you willing to sacrifice for Jesus? What does your worship look like? Do you offer Jesus whatever you have to spare of your heart? Or do you give Him everything?

In this episode, Pastor Gary teaches the final Sunday of Advent on love and how genuine love for God always leads to worship. Through the stories of the Magi and Simeon, we saw that Jesus is not merely someone to admire, but the King who calls for our obedience, surrender, and adoration. The Magi responded to Jesus with costly worship, traveling far and offering their very best. In contrast, King Herod responded with fear and self-preservation, reminding us that encountering Jesus always reveals what is in our hearts. Simeon, after a lifetime of faithful waiting, responded with praise and peace when he finally held the promised Savior, declaring Jesus as God's salvation.Pastor Gary challenged us to examine our own response to Jesus. True worship is never passive: it involves offering our time, resources, obedience, and lives to Him. As we are reaching the end of Advent, we are invited to move beyond admiration and respond to Christ with wholehearted worship, recognizing Him not just as a Savior, but as my Savior and my Lord!

Today's sermon is Putting Feet To Your Faith by Gary Hamrick Find more teaching from Pastor Gary at www.cornerstonechapel.net
Pastor Gary continues our conversation around repentance as he guides us through how our lives transform as we live in repentance, and how God continually transforms us into His image as we walk with Him. Recorded at Hope Church in Springfield, MO.
The Bible tells us that we are in a spiritual battle—an unseen war in the heavenly realm that rages over us. Satan will try to tempt, discourage, deceive, confuse, and harm us. He and his demonic principalities want to destroy our marriages, our families, our churches, and our very lives. But in Ephesians 6, Paul explains how we can take a stand against the Enemy and trust the Lord to fight for us. In today's study, Pastor Gary unpacks this passage and then prays over all those who are under spiritual attack.
God gives us instructions in the Bible for how to experience the most harmony and unity within a marriage, a family, and the workplace. But we must first understand submission to the Lord before we can “submit to one another in the fear of the Lord” (Ephesians 5:21). How we relate with and respond to one another depends on our own walk with the Lord. Follow along in Ephesians 5–6 as Pastor Gary unpacks Biblical truth for wives, husbands, children, parents, and co-workers.
Christianity is not only about what we believe, but also about how we behave. If we are truly followers of Christ, we should live out our faith in a way that glorifies Him. In the second half of Ephesians, Paul instructs us how to figuratively “walk out our faith.” Five times in Ephesians 4–5, Paul tells us specific ways to walk as followers of Christ. Pastor Gary discusses these five ways in today's teaching entitled, “Putting Feet to Your Faith.”
