In deep, cold water in the pitch dark, a small group of athletes began their day by having no idea where the first buoy was located. All they knew was to hug the shore. James said, "Go!". Five strokes in BJ was overcome with evidence to give up. A 105-mile bike to Brighton Resort from Jordanelle Reservoir with just shy of 9,000 feet of vertical climbing was on tap for those who made it through the swim. The last ten miles broke many competitors as they made their way up and over Guardsman Pass. You can find out more information about Guardsman Pass on the non-profit website, dangerousroads.org. BJ came into T2 and cried. High into the Wasatch Mountains, a two-loop technical trail run with 6,000 feet of climbing awaited those who felt ready to go deeper. BJ was one of them.
