It's Jim Henson Month on In Search of the Crystal Skull. In honor of the recent Disney+ documentary, Jim Henson: Idea Man, Arun and Patricia look back at Jim Henson's films. The first one is the 1981 film The Great Muppet Caper, the second film in The Muppets movie series. Kermit and Fozzie are twin brothers who are newspaper reporters and their friend and co-worker Gonzo is a photographer. After failing to cover a report where a fashion designer named Lady Holiday had her jewelry stolen, they are at the brink of losing their jobs. They beg their boss to give them a second chance and they travel to England to interview her. Meanwhile, Miss Piggy wishes to become one of Lady Holiday's models, but makes her her assistant instead. In a series of events, Miss Piggy is the primary suspect of stealing Lady Holiday's jewelry. It's up to Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, and the rest of the inhabitants of the Happiness Hotel to prove Miss Piggy's innocence and capture the real thieves. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $31 million dollars out of a $14 million dollar budget receiving mixed to positive reviews from critics and viewers saying that there are some memorable moments, but the plot wasn't as engaging compared to The Muppet Movie. What did Arun and Patricia think of the film? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/old-school-lane/support
We are all born into this body without possessing anything. All that we gain is after the birth of this body. We are also sure to die, after which all that we have accumulated and achieved must be left behind. So, we are neither born nor do we die possessing anything. More like a computer game. Given this why should we fear anything? Why not accept everything as a game and appreciate everything life delivers unto us? Neither pleasure nor pain is lasting. They all have an expiry date. Only those with wisdom live beyond pain and pleasure, happiness and unhappiness into a state of perpetual bliss.

The Anomaly podcastronauts harness every bit of their chaos Muppet energy to discuss one of their favorite movies of all time. We debate what makes a muppet, Miss Piggy's alignment, the greatest visual joke ever committed to film, and about a thousand other topics in this one. Grab your favorite caffeinated beverage and try to keep up. (The audio is a little janky, we were trying a new recording system. But we think it's still listenable, and adds some muppety magic. Just picture us at the Happiness Hotel.)
Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the Muppets try to stop a jewel thief before he steals a priceless diamond. This week, we discuss the physics of being pushed out of a plane, what itβs like to stay in a real-life Happiness Hotel, and if thereβs such a thing as a classic 1981 Oldsmobile. We also share our thoughts on the upcoming Superman reboot before finding out if The Great Muppet Caper stands the Test of Time.

Tim the Mute and Kim Gray came over from Vancouver to tour in late Autumn and early Winter of 2016 and played a show for us at The Happiness Hotel on the 27th November. We managed to make time to squeeze in a wee Toad Session beforehand. Tim runs the fantastic label Kingfisher Bluez and has become a good friend and musical ally over the years, partly because I love a lot of the music he releases, partly because I like how he goes about his business, and partly because he is just a lovely guy. He's been over to play shows for us a couple of times now, co-released the first Adam Stafford record we did a few years back, and this year brought his friend Kim Gray with him on tour. They played a fantastic house gig at The Happiness Hotel and we recorded this session beforehand. As usual, Mario Cruzado made the fantastic videos, with help from Jennifer Baker.
Recorded on the 18th November 2016 before a warehouse show with Kwaing Creosite this gorgeous session shows two things: one, that Ziggy and his Pumpkinseed collaborators are superbly talented and two, that strings sound absolutely fucking gorgeous in The Happiness Hotel. Recorded and mixed by my good self, with video by Mario Cruzado and photography by Kat Gollock.
