Today Ernie and Robo talk about why all the anti-woke grifters, weirdos, racists, and chuds don't get Predator: Badlands, and why it's a safe assumption they never actually watched a Predator movie before.
Well Hello, Weirdos! Long time, no SEE!! Welcome to Keep It Weird, the podcast for all thing strange and unusual, stalker-ish and sleepy, spooky, scary and everything in between. We wanted to keep things EXTRA SCARY for another month because October was so crazy busy so welcome to SECOND OCTOBER!! October Part Two! This week Lauren starts us off with a rare TRUE CRIME TIME and the story of the Kuykendall Family Phone Stalker! In 2007 someone was able to not only clone the phones of the Kuykendall family but also somehow WATCH THEM INSIDE THEIR HOUSE. It's a case that remains unsolved to this day and boy oh boy do we hate that. Then Ashley takes us to a PARANORMAL PARADISE as we explore some real life haunts out of the legendary village of SLEEPY HOLLOW!! It may not be haunted by a headless hessian soldier, but that doesn't mean the place isn't crawling with old 16th century ghouls! Classic wailing women, the ghost of an American traitor, a witch of the wood and possibly even some new world FAE! In this episode you'll find four tips for getting grounded: choosing your personal "weapons" of groundedness, accepting that you'll never be 100% grounded all the time, finding evidence of your successes (big and small), and remembering who you are and how far you've come. Join us at Town Hall Seattle for As Many Weirdos As Possible (AMWAP), an evening of storytelling and portraiture that brings to life one of the most vibrant chapters of the Pacific Northwest music scene (1985-1995). This live program will feature musicians, artists, and community members sharing personal memories, projected alongside their documentary portraits as part of the ongoing AMWAP project. Drawn from Poser Productions' mission to preserve and celebrate personal and cultural histories, this evening invites audiences to engage in a communal reflection on memory, music, identity, and place. Hosted by Nabil Ayers, President of Beggars Group U.S. and author of My Life in the Sunshine, whose work and story are deeply rooted in Seattle's independent music and cultural legacy. Nabil Ayers is a longtime Seattleite who co-founded Sonic Boom Records in 1997 and played drums in several bands — most recently The Long Winters. He now lives in Brooklyn, where he is president of the Beggars Group of record labels. Ayers is the host of the Identified podcast and the author of the memoir My Life in the Sunshine (Viking), which he launched at Town Hall in 2022. He has written about music, race, and family for The New York Times, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, GQ, and NPR. Riz Rollins has loved music since childhood, bringing joy to dance floors from clubs like Re-bar, to parties, parades and festivals. For over thirty-five years, he has shared the music that shaped his life and our community on KEXP. Marco Collins was the guy behind the mic when Seattle accidentally unleashed grunge on the world. As flagship DJ and Music Director at 107.7 The End in the '90s, he helped break bands like Nirvana, Beck, Weezer, and Foo Fighters—shaping the sound of a generation in real time. He's worked across radio, labels, VH1, and stations like KEXP, but what really sets him apart is an obsessive love of music that's never once hit the snooze button. He's also the subject of The Glamour & The Squalor, a documentary chronicling his rise, fall, and refusal to shut up about bands you haven't heard of yet. Steven Severin is co-owner of Neumos, Barboza, The Runaway Bar, and Life on Mars. He has served on Bumbershoot's Advisory Board and worked extensively with the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) to help secure the federal Shuttered Venue Operators Grant that saved independent venues during the COVID pandemic. He recently launched Walk Don't Run, a community art event activating downtown Seattle with music, visual art, and live performance. He's also spent nearly a decade with Save Our Sonics, advocating to bring the SuperSonics back to Seattle. Paul Schurr played bass and sang backup vocals for Flop and Best Kissers in the World in the early 90s. He and his wife have four kids and live in Seattle. Sheila Locke has been a force in Seattle's music scene for over forty years as a DJ, radio host, club owner, artist manager, and co-founder of NASTYMIX Records, original home of Sir Mix-A-Lot. From her first high school gig to breaking national ground with a gold record, she has left an indelible mark on the city's music history. Chenelle "Chelly Chell" Marshall is a writer, poet, and creative spirit. She was a member of The Incredicrew, one of Seattle's earliest rap groups, who signed a multi-album deal with the label Ever Rap. Their single "He's Incredible" became a local hit and a landmark moment in Seattle's music history. Today, Chenelle continues to share her voice through poetry and storytelling and is the author of Poetic Lifeline. Her latest work, Through the Eyes of Her, is available now. Presented by Town Hall Seattle and Poser Productions. Poser Productions is fiscally sponsored by Shunpike.

Hail to the Cardinal, Hail to the White, Weirdos!! Welcome to a very special Halloween episode-- It's our WEIRD CENTRALIA LIVE SHOW!! This month Lauren and Ashley had the pleasure of traveling to Centralia, IL to perform to a sold out audience at the Centralia Area Historical Society Museum! We got to chat about ALL THINGS C-TOWN including, but not limited to: The Orphans, May Fete, the Thunderbird, Violin Anne, the 1947 Mine Disaster, Copple's Mansion, the Perrine House & Perrine's Orchard! We laugh, we cry, we SCREAM - this episode is a lot of things. I HIGHLY recommend watching this ep on YOUTUBE (www.youtube.com/keepitweirdpodcast) as we also did have a slideshow presentation and you'll be able to see all the things the audience is reacting to: Old photos, newspaper clippings, even a couple videos! This was one of the most special weekends of our lives and that's all because of the people of Centralia. Everyone who shared their stories with us, taught us about the town's history, invited us to the town museum (Thank you Rick Dodson, Mike Middleton and Jessycka Nix Coleman!) FED us (thank you Simply Soul LLC!) rented us a place to stay (thank you Mallory Fisk!) lent us some audio visual equipment and bought tickets and came out to see our show. We were floored! This show was meant to be a CELEBRATION of Centralia and I do believe we accomplished our goal. I feel closer to my hometown than ever before... and maybe a little more creeped out by it. GO ORPHANS!!!! TRIGGER WARNING: Actually NO cursing-- unless you count "heck" so good for us! But we do talk about death, murder, suicide, slavery AND man-eating birds; so be aware. Get yourself a WEIRD CENTRALIA SHIRT by going to our merch store www.keepitweirdpodcast.com/merch - click on the button that says "Click here for Store" and go nuts! In this episode, I sat down with my dear friend Georgia Mulliss, a money coach who helps helpers and healers stop undervaluing themselves to talk about - of course! - trust. We talk about LOTS of things, including how self-abandonment keeps us stuck and how building self-respect is the first step to trusting ourselves in business. Here are 3 of the MANY bits of good from our conversation:Trust is the opposite of self-abandonment (yes, we DO say more about this...).Pricing isn't just about money, it's about valuing your expertise and skills.Business forces you to trust yourself faster than you might feel ready (which helps us EVERYWHERE else!).Want the REST of the good? This week's episode brings us another conversation about trust, this time with my friend Shea Ki, and it's pure magic! You'll LOVE her definiton of trust - it's not about never failing, but about believing in your capacity to learn and grow. We think through how trust is built through pausing, being gentle with ourselves, and embracing the messy, yet totoally worthwhile journey of personal and professional growth.Want a sneak peek? Here are a few of the key takeaways:Self-trust means having faith in your ability to make decisions and learn from themCuriosity is more powerful than judgment when building trustYou can trust the process, even when you can't see the entire path; Ready to get these and MORE? Brad Zerbo and Jaytriot continue their deep dive into the roots of punk, this time hitting the gritty streets of 1970s Los Angeles. From the raw chaos of the Germs and the infectious rise of the Go-Go's to the Chicano underground and the notorious Fear riot on SNL, this episode captures the energy, rebellion, and wild diversity that defined LA's punk explosion. The hosts trace how venues like The Mask and Elks Lodge became ground zero for punk history, explore the East LA crossover scene, and highlight legends like X, the Weirdos, and Black Flag. It's a wild ride through the sound, sweat, and social revolution that turned Hollywood into a punk battleground.

Yaaaassss, Weirdos! Welcome to SPOOKY SEASON!!! You know what that means. Pumpkins. Horror movies. Ghouls. Girls, gays & theys! This week is a very special episode where we are celebrating QUEER HORROR!! Our special guest this week is an American author, playwright and theater director of (get this) HELLGATE HIGH Mr. Laramie Dean!! We are exploring the horror genre all the way back to the gothic novels of the 1800's to the campy gore of the 80s and to our explicitly queer films today. The LGBTQA+ community has always found representation in the horror genre - sometimes they had to hide their queerness, sometimes they got it WAY wrong but nevertheless their stories and films have inspired generations of us throughout the last century and a half and for that we are eternally grateful! So join us as we chat Mary Shelley, James Whale, John Waters, Interview with the Vampire, Chucky, and so much more. In this episode of Uncomplicating Business, I'm sharing the trust lessons I learned (remembered!) during what I now think of as 'the summer of change'. Here in my world we bought a house, sold a house, moved, switched schools both kids and then some...I learned and was reminded of so many vital lessons about trust and navigating big transitions.I'm sharing my 3 biggest take aways: how to recognize/trust feedback, why trust becomes a practice when everything shifts, and why asking for help is actually a *huge* act of self-trust.If you're feeling overwhelmed by change or struggling to trust your own instincts, this episode is for you. Dust to Dust, Weirdos! Welcome back to KEEP IT WEIRD!! The podcast for all things strange, unusual, paranormal, supernatural, creepy, gross, scary, sticky and everything in between! Everytime we get together we chat about something WEIRD and this episode is no exception. WE'RE BACK from a brief hiatus so dont mind us as we spend the first fifteen or so catching you up on life stuff but dont you worry we make our way to the strange quickly as Lauren brings us into a WHERE IN THE WORLD (is Keep It Weird Going?) and we travel (astrally) to NORWAY! Ålen, Norway to be exact in a 15 mile valley known as Hessdalen where for almost an entire century very strange lights have been appearing in the sky. No matter the weather, regardless of day or night these lights show up in bright whites, yellows and reds - sometimes for over an hour! Sometimes they streak through the sky, other times they sway slowly back and forth. But what the h e double hockey sticks are they?! UFOs?! Plasma? Ball lightning? A natural phenomenon we literally don't know about yet?! We break down the scientific discoveries that we DO know along with all the questions we still have about the HESSDALEN LIGHTS. Then Ashley takes a different look at the sky in an ITS THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT! Something is headed our way and its massive. 3i/Atlas is the third interstellar object (that we have ever observed) to pass through our solar system and it's en route as we speak! Most experts believe it's a comet, although some are more skeptical of it's behavior. But that's not why we're here-- we're here to talk about what some OTHER folks believe this object to be. Something called the BLUE STAR KACHINA aka SAQUASOHUH- an apocalyptic prophecy from North America's own Hopi Native Tribes. This bright blue star is said to come from far away and crash into our skies in the "Day of Purification" and is described as a "world engulfing cataclysm" that will end life as we know it for everyone who isn't truly Hopi. The only problem is that the legend didn't actually come from Hopi legends and it was written by a white man in the 60s. OOPS!! Ah well, we'll get em' next time boys. Daniel Harila is a freelance artist and writer from Norway. He started drawing monsters when he was 3 years old and couldn't stop creating even if he wanted to. He had a long break from roleplaying games during his late teenage and early adult years, pursuing punk music and various endavours in creative arts all at the expense of his own financial stability, and loads of other crazy things like suspending from shark hooks, being raised as a foster child and other weird stuff. He did not explore traditional adventure games until he played AD&D with chad bowser (cthulhu dark ages) and later bought Mörk Borg when it was on sale the same year. He is happily married, vegan and obsessively.https://danielharilacarlsen.myportfolio.com/https://daniel-harila.itch.io/https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/29361/mudknight-mediahttps://bsky.app/profile/danielharila.bsky.socialCheck out his adventure on KS right now!https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danielharilacarlsen/duginthroat-dividedThank you for listening to Weird Games and Weirder People! Please subscribe to the show to keep up with new episodes!SUPPORT THE SHOW!If you would like to support the show, leave a review and/or join the Weirdos' Cool Club! Little by Little Homeschool - Homeschooling, Motherhood, Homemaking, Education, Family
Technology has come in like a tidal wave and our culture has just willingly accepted and adopted it all without questioning the ramifications. This isn't just for ourselves as adults, but for our children as well. At this point, you'd have to be living in a cave to not know that there is some pushback and evidence showing the negative impact screens can have on our children. But, as a homeschool parent, you spend a lot of time being intentional and wonder if you've created enough boundaries around screens for your children. Or maybe your homeschool family has adopted some habits that you have concern about and wonder how to realistically make some changes. Clare Morell, of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and author of The Tech Exit is here on today's episode to give you facts, direction, and most of all, hope. She is in the trenches of motherhood, just like you are, so her advice and suggestions are not some pie in the sky dream, but realistic and practical.
