Welcome to the first I Love This Band Artist Spotlight Special. Following Nealo's appearance in the History of Irish Hip Hop Documentary on Ireland's RTÉ channel, I discuss how the global popularity of the genre has translated itself on the island of Ireland. I talk to Nealo about the differences and similarities between audiences of hip hop and punk rock, why Irish people love rap so much and what home means to us all. We had a nice casual chat and it was a great way to kick off a new episode format. Hope you enjoy. More coming soon. It's a New Day (yes, it is!) as Intern Elijah joins the show. Our guests this week are Michael from local band, THESE YOUNG FOOLS and Jason from COSTUMED CHARACTERS FOR CAUSES! The requests pour in all night including friends of These Young Fools and people from Twitter (incidentally, you're always welcome to send us song requests in between live shows. We might even play them, but we'll definitely give you a shout-out!) During our phone interview, Michael talks about a sick show that These Young Fools will be a part of call THE WINTER THROWDOWN, Sunday, January 29th at Studio 7, as well as what to look forward to from the band in 2017. We get to know Intern Elijah a little better and he talks about his first rock show. Fun with sound effect ensues! It's another clip-heavy edition of what happened Today in Geek History, with a few different iconic TV shows. How were the intros for 80's cartoons so long?! Plus a special shout-out to Wes from the Via VHS Podcast. Hip Hop Punk Rock artist Big O's NORTHWEST MIXTAPE is available for streaming and we play one of the tracks. The bands playing KRACKLEFEST 7 have been revealed and it's an all Nerd Rock lineup! We talk about the upcoming show during Emerald City Comicon and play songs from the bands, inspired by Fallout 3, The Hunger Games, and The Dark Knight's Joker! Before we close out the night, we play some more requests and talk about some exciting shows coming to town in the near future. The last song of the night is a shout-out to all of Intern Elijah's friends that tuned in while we were live! Like, Share, Rate, and Review The Monday Project wherever you find it. Both Micki and Amanda are out sick this week, leaving Mike to run the show by himself. What's the worst that could possibly happen as Mike finds that he might not be as alone as he originally thought? A "questionable" former MMAD intern makes a "factual" return, along with a familiar Cool Guy... One of our guests has no idea who Barry White is during TODAY IN GEEK HISTORY and Mike comes up with a brand new game of IS IT REAL OR IT FAKE, designed to stump comic book fans! "All your Post-Punk Laptop Rap are Belong to us." MC Lars: The Video Game, coming Sept. 18 (And we play a song from his new compilation. About Tee Shirts.) We kick off the last hour with an announcement from Hip Hop Punk Rock band, BIG O. During the SLUMBER PARTY we explore TV families and what kind of movie your life would be. The Amanda Happening interviewed Theatrical-Rock duo One-Eyed Doll before their show on Friday, September 9th and we play a song from their latest album before closing out the night with some emotional SHOUT-OUTS!
