John ‘Jughead' Pierson is probably best known as a founding member and driving force of Screeching Weasel up through the beginning of the 21st century. These days, he's well into the triple digits of his long-running podcast, Jughead's Basement. We talk about his approach to, and experience with, podcasting and dig into Screeching Weasel history as we eat outside King's Gyros (5233 N. Milwaukee Avenue) in Chicago. They've been serving “Royally Delicious” food since 1972, and I can't say for certain, but I may have found one of their royal hairs in my sandwich.

For Episode 22 We will be introducing a sub format for some episodes from The Basement. To help fill the long periods of time between full band episodes we will now engage in a second endeavor called Jughead’s Basement Presents: Dueling Interviews. In these episodes the interviewer and interviewee will become one, and within a previously dictated amount of time these two will pose questions for each other to answer, hopefully resulting in a somewhat meaningful conversation. Each episode will contain two randomizing elements to lead the questioning in different directions. And each interviewer/interviewee will have two minutes at the end to some up. This podcast will NOT be highly edited, and will be more of a spontaneous exploration of art and music. We pick up where we left off in Episode 28 and bring you the Mable Syndrome Roadtrip to 350 Part 2. This one is extra-special because we talk about our experience attending a private party/acoustic show at John Jughead's house. The performances by Even in Blackouts, Dr Frank, and Dan Vapid had Jessica in tears and fumbling for words. This is a good one! Don't miss it. Bands discussed: Screeching Weasel, Even in Blackouts, The Mr T Experience, and many more. Song: Every Night by Even In Blackouts (originally by Screeching Weasel)
Episode 12 features a very special guest: John Jughead Pierson, aka "Jughead", a founding member of the iconic punk band, Screeching Weasel. He opens up about his recent 50th birthday bash and the cool stuff he's currently working on. He also shares some great stories about the early days of Screeching Weasel. John's recent band, Even In Blackouts, is one of our favs, so we gush about that and the singer, Liz. John Jughead is one of the nicest, most sincere and smart punk rockers out there (evident in his written piece, "The Punk Rock Heart" which we discuss at length) and we are thrilled to release this episode with him. Enjoy! Song: Even in Blackouts, Motives Misunderstood
Episode 21 of Jughead’s Basement featuring Rise Against’s The Sufferer & The Witness With interviews with all four band members including: Joe Principe, Tim Mcllrath, Brandon Barnes, and Chris Chasse.
