He admits God said it, then deflects by asking if the hosts believe in Satan and oxygen before abruptly hanging up when challenged on his reasoning.Courtney and Rachel in FL call to defend biblical morality. The hosts read Exodus 21:7-11 on selling daughters into slavery and Leviticus 25:44-46 on buying slaves. Rachel shockingly states she would sell her daughter to a rich man, comparing it to Jeffrey Epstein. They claim slavery was acceptable back then and defend beating slaves while appearing intoxicated. Episode 111 Today I am talking with the comedian JJ Barrows. And yes, this episode made me laugh, but I also cried, because we went DEEP! I found JJ when one of her videos was recommended to me and since it was about growing up southern Baptist and not being allowed to shave my legs past her knees, I had to watch. Growing up southern Baptist myself, I resonated with her story quite a bit. But after that one video I had to check out more and fell in love with JJ. She is wonderful. She's hilarious, creative, interesting, passionate, a new mom, and author, and as I said before, not afraid to go deep. I really resonated with her ideas about using comedy to talk about hard things and how healing laughter can be. Common sense “The thing that I like the most about Steve and his philosophy when it comes to Alcorn McBride, is he does everything based on common sense.” Loren describes “common sense” at Alcorn McBride as removing unnecessary friction and trusting adults to do great work. Instead of burying people under rigid rules, she highlights a practical, human approach: if something goes wrong, fix it; if life happens, respond like a human, not a policy manual. That same thinking shows up in how the company supports customers: engineer for reliability, reduce downtime, and avoid avoidable complexity. The goal is simple: make the work easier for both the internal team and the people building guest-facing experiences, because stress doesn't stay at work, it follows people home. Hiring for culture “We hire for culture fit.” Loren says protecting culture starts with who you bring into it. At Alcorn McBride, they'd rather hire for the “how” and train the “what,” then validate technical skills while making sure the person aligns with the team's curiosity, care, and personality. She shares that their process is intentionally personal: candidates spend time with the broader team in relaxed settings, and the hiring team watches how someone reacts when the room inevitably turns playful. In October of 1948, Billy Graham and his ministry team — Cliff Barrows, George Beverly Shea and Grady Wilson — held evangelistic meetings in Modesto, Calif. These men gathered in their spare time to write what Barrows came to call the “Modesto Manifesto.” That document outlined the standards they would follow regarding “financial integrity, sexual morality, publicity, and partnership with the local church.” However, the organizations led by Billy Graham's son Franklin recently withdrew from the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) because they did not want the ECFA to act as “moral police” for the evangelical world. While Francis Stevens—born Gertrude Barrows Bennett—was a trailblazer often credited as the first female science fiction writer, she published under the ambiguous name “G. M. Barrows,” using initials that concealed her gender.Clare Winger Harris didn't hide hers. When her first short story, The Runaway World, appeared in the July 1926 issue of Weird Tales, it was credited openly to Mrs. F. C. Harris.Born in Freeport, Illinois in 1891, Clare came from a distinguished background. Her mother, Mary Stover Winger, was the daughter of D. C. Stover, the town's wealthiest man, a renowned inventor and industrialist. Her father, Frank S. Winger, was an electrical contractor and a science fiction writer himself, having published The Wizard of the Island; or, The Vindication of Prof. Waldinger in 1917.Between 1926 and 1933, Harris wrote a dozen science fiction short stories and one novel. In the late 1930s, she moved to Pasadena, California, where she lived modestly and sometimes worked as a switchboard operator to make ends meet.Remarkably, just a year before her death in 1968, she inherited a quarter of her grandfather's estate—valued at over two million dollars.
