Welcome to The Counseling Room, where Dr. Darlene Turner brings a safe space to you. When God Feels Silent: Trusting Him in the WaitingHave you ever prayed, waited, and asked God for direction—only to feel like He isn't answering? In this episode of The Counseling Room, Dr. Darlene Turner explores what happens when God feels silent and how those seasons can affect us emotionally and spiritually. When we don't have answers, our minds can begin to fill in the silence with fear, worry, and worst-case scenarios. But God's silence does not mean God's absence.Using Isaiah 40:31 as a foundation, Dr. Turner reminds us that waiting isn't necessarily a season of weakness. It can be a place where God renews and strengthens us. Like a seed growing beneath the soil, God may be doing something beneath the surface that we cannot see yet.Dr. Turner also connects faith with emotional health, encouraging us to recognize the anxiety that uncertainty can create and to resist the temptation to solve tomorrow today.Whether you're waiting for an answer, healing, direction, or a change in your circumstances, this episode offers a reminder to keep trusting God—even when you cannot see what He is doing.Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep believing. God is still there in the silence.

What if getting older didn't automatically mean getting weaker? On this episode of I Am Refocused Radio, Shemaiah Reed sits down with Dr. Mark Sherwood, known as The Real Longevity Doctor™ and Biohackologist™, for a direct conversation about longevity, strength, chronic disease, hormones, nutrition, sleep, and what it really takes to take ownership of your health.A former SWAT team leader turned naturopathic doctor, Dr. Sherwood brings a unique combination of discipline, clinical experience, and straight-to-the-point thinking to the conversation. He challenges the idea that declining health should simply be accepted as part of aging and encourages people to look deeper at the habits, systems, and choices shaping their long-term health. They discuss why so many people wait until something goes wrong before taking their health seriously, the growing conversation around biohacking, the importance of metabolic and hormonal health, and why longevity should be about more than simply adding years to your life.Dr. Sherwood also shares his perspective on building physical, mental, and spiritual resilience, creating sustainable change, and developing a body capable of supporting the mission and life you want to live. How much of the way we age is truly inevitable, and how much can we influence by the way we live today?Learn more about Dr. Mark Sherwood at DrMarkSherwood.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.Subscribe now at YouTube.com/@RefocusedNetworkThank you for your time.

In this powerful conversation on I Am Refocused Radio, Dr. Olaf Kroneman joins Shemaiah Reed to discuss his novel Detroit Heroic, a story rooted in the turbulent world of 1967 Detroit and shaped by questions of medicine, race, gender, dignity, and justice. Dr. Kroneman remains in private medical practice in the Detroit area, a city whose resilience and character sit at the heart of his writing. The conversation explores how the novel confronts systemic inequities in healthcare, the treatment of women in medicine, the historical shadow of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, and the experiences of patients whose symptoms and suffering may be dismissed or misunderstood. Dr. Kroneman also discusses Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, gender bias in healthcare, APOL1-associated kidney disease, and racial disparities in medicine, connecting history with questions the medical system is still wrestling with today. At the center of Detroit Heroic is a larger question: What happens when medicine loses sight of the human being in front of it? Through fiction, medical experience, and advocacy, Dr. Kroneman challenges readers to examine where healthcare has been, where inequities remain, and what a more compassionate future could look like.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.Subscribe now at YouTube.com/@RefocusedNetworkThank you for your time.
In this episode of Hope Illuminated, I'm joined by Nick Freud, entrepreneur, deep thinker, and founder of Fellow Humans, a platform being developed to match people navigating life transitions with peers who have already lived through the same experience. Nick arrives with an unusual combination of credentials: a last name that invites inevitable comparisons to Sigmund Freud, a background in education technology, a lived experience of burnout and depression, and a working theory that the mental health crisis cannot be solved by clinical expertise alone.Nick's story begins with co-founding an edtech startup at 24 with a best friend from college. The company was promising enough to attract early success, but the relentless pressure of entrepreneurship eventually caught up with him, and he found himself in a deep depressive episode that forced a reckoning. Rather than viewing that period as a failure, Nick came to reframe it as what he calls "a love letter from your body", a signal that the version of himself he'd been performing for the world was no longer aligned with who he actually was. That insight became the cornerstone of everything he's since built. We dig into the neuroscience of human connection, the role of serotonin and oxytocin in healing, and why the kind of connection that actually moves the needle requires real vulnerability, not just proximity. Nick shares a striking insight from his research: mental health conditions almost never arise in isolation but consistently emerge during or immediately after major life transitions, new job, divorce, becoming a parent, losing a parent, retirement, relocation. And he argues that the stigma around mental health is at its lowest precisely at those transition moments, making them the ideal intervention point. The conversation turns to Fellow Humans, Nick's vision of a platform that uses AI not as a replacement for human connection but as a sophisticated matchmaking and facilitation vehicle: connecting people in the midst of a transition with others who have already navigated the same terrain. We discuss the risks of unmoderated online communities, how Reddit's peer advice communities demonstrate both the power and the peril of this model, and why AI-facilitated matching, rather than algorithm-driven engagement, could be the key to making this work safely and meaningfully at scale. This program examines Rasnick's research, interpretations and personal views. It is presented for education and discussion only and is not medical advice. Viewers should consult qualified healthcare professionals before making medical decisions. This is a scientific discussion—not medical adviceToday on the Typical Skeptic Podcast, Robert Kalil welcomes biochemist and author Dr. David William Rasnick for a provocative discussion surrounding his new book, The Outsider: A Personal Odyssey into the Essence of Cancer.Drawing upon decades of research and more than a century of scientific debate, Dr. Rasnick challenges the dominant gene-mutation explanation of cancer. He argues that cancer may be better understood as a disease driven by chromosomal imbalance—known as aneuploidy—and chromosomal instability. Why do cancers progress, spread, recur and develop resistance? What did pioneering biologist Theodor Boveri recognize about abnormal chromosomes more than a century ago? Why did genetic mutation theories come to dominate cancer research, and what happens to scientists who question an established medical consensus?Part scientific investigation and part personal memoir, The Outsider recounts Rasnick's transformation from a conventional pharmaceutical and biotechnology researcher into an outspoken scientific dissident. We discuss institutional dogma, research funding, professional pressure, independent thought and the human cost of challenging powerful systems.David Rasnick earned his PhD in chemistry from Georgia Tech in 1978, spent approximately two decades working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and previously authored The Chromosomal Imbalance Theory of Cancer. His new book was released in 2026 by TrineDay. Book informationThis program examines Rasnick's research, interpretations and personal views. In this episode of Hope Illuminated, I'm joined by Aaron Witt - founder and CEO of Buildwitt, the fastest-growing media and workforce development platform dedicated to the "dirt world" of critical infrastructure, natural resources, and heavy civil construction. Aaron is a rare voice in this space: someone who has worked the job sites himself, who carries genuine reverence for the people who build the world, and who has built a multi-platform company around the conviction that this industry's future depends on its ability to see, value, and develop the human beings doing the work.Aaron opens with a framing that anchors the entire conversation: the military cannot function without the steel, runways, and infrastructure that construction workers build. First responders cannot reach emergencies without roads. Yet while we celebrate soldiers and firefighters for their sacrifice, the construction worker - equally indispensable, equally exposed to danger, loss, and physical hardship - remains largely invisible in the national conversation about worker well-being. Aaron calls this the invisible sacrifice, and his life's work is making it visible. We dig into the data: construction consistently ranks among the highest-risk industries for suicide, with rates surpassing military and law enforcement in some analyses. Overdose deaths on and around job sites are rising. And yet the support systems available to workers in the field are largely inaccessible - requiring workers on 12-hour shifts to navigate multiple barriers to reach anyone who might help, only to find that the person on the other end has no understanding of their world. Aaron is direct: many traditional EAP resources are, in his words, "completely worthless" for this population. The conversation turns to solutions, and Aaron is equally direct about where change has to start: with leaders. Not leaders giving speeches about wellness, but leaders going first - sharing their own struggles, modeling that it is possible to be strong and vulnerable simultaneously, and creating the conditions in which workers feel safe enough to do the same. Aaron connects this to the broader workforce crisis: with 8 million construction workers and a next generation that is not choosing the trades, well-being is not a soft add-on. In this episode of The Bigfoot Inquiry, Brian and Dr. Hogan Sherrow sit down with anthropologist and DNA expert Dr. Todd Disotell for a blunt, science-driven conversation about the search for genetic evidence of Bigfoot.Dr. Disotell has examined hundreds of alleged Sasquatch samples over the years, yet says he has never encountered DNA that supports the existence of an unknown North American primate. He discusses a recent UK eDNA case reportedly containing traces of Old World monkey and great ape DNA, explaining why the claim is unusual, why the raw sequencing data matters, and why extraordinary results must be verified by credible independent laboratories. The conversation also takes a hard look at the Melba Ketchum DNA study, including the problems with its methods, interpretation, and publication. Dr. Disotell explains what laboratories actually mean when a sample is labeled “failed,” “unknown,” or “inconclusive,” and why none of those terms should be presented as proof of an unidentified creature. They also explore the real promise and limitations of environmental DNA, the constant risks of contamination and weak chain of custody, and the collection standards required for a sample to survive scientific scrutiny. The discussion closes with a broader examination of why many scientists avoid the Bigfoot subject, how sensational claims damage legitimate research, and why eyewitness testimony can be shaped by misidentification, expectation, and the fallibility of memory.
