First, is there a library by your house?Keith: No, no libraries near me.Todd: No, that's too bad. Do you like to read?Keith: Sure, I love to read.Todd: OK. Where do you get your books?Keith: Well, I usually buy them at Tower Records or I order them through Amazon.comTodd: OK. Note: this is not an advertisement. OK. Next one, is there a park by your house.Keith: Park, yeah, there's actually two small ones.Todd: Do you go there very often?Keith: No, not to often, because usually, I don't get home from work until pretty late. Not a lot of part-time in my schedule.Todd: OK. So hang on. We've got to let the car go by here. Actually, lots of cars here. Lots of traffic. Is there a lot of traffic where you live?Keith: Oh, yeah, in the daytime cause there's a lot of shops around my apartment, or near my apartment. But at night time it's pretty quiet.Todd: OK. Great. The Cigar of the Week, the Undercrown by Drew Estate, was provided by Duque Cigar Company in Indialantic, Florida. The cigars featured in the "What's My Band" segment of the show were sent by Canadian listener Adam Zed. Adam's selections stumped both Bob and Dale. Enter November's Palio Cutter Contest by sending a photo of you or your friends enjoying a cigar to theshow@cigarmedia.tv. (Don't forget to include your mailing address and type "Palio" on the subject line.) To see the contest pictures, click on the Contest icon on the www.cigarmedia.tv home page. Remember you must re-enter each month to be eligible to win. Check out the live show! Go to http://www.cigarmedia.tv/live/ where the show is broadcast live most Friday evenings at 9 PM EDT. Cigar of the Week - the Undercrown Robusto by Drew Estate. This cigar can basically be called the half-brother to the Liga Privada line. Will this cigar become the black sheep of the family or will it be widely accepted? That is the question that can only be answered over time. The Undercrown is available in 5 sizes: Robusto 5 x 50 ($7.45 MSRP); Gran Toro 6 x 52 ($7.95 MSRP); Belicoso 6 x 52 ($8.45 MSRP); Corona Doble 7 x 54 ($8.95 MSRP) and Gordito 6 x 60 ($9.95 MSRP). Wrapper: San Andreas Otapan Negro Último Corte Binder: T52 Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut & Cured Habano Filler: Select Brazilian Mata Fina and Nicaraguan Cuban Seed What else have you been smokin' Dale? Sencillo Platinum Piramide - 6.25” x 54 - The Sencillo Platinum line was developed by God of Fire creator Keith Park in concert with Christian Eirora, and is a Honduran Puro made in Honduras at the Camacho factory. The tobaccos are primarily Habano de Jamastran with some Piloto Cubana added in the filler. The line has been out since early spring of 2010 and is avail in 6 sizes. While being a true premium boutique cigar in the tradition of God of Fire and Angelenos (made for Park by Fuente), the Sencillo line is a bit lower in price. What’s important though is what a marvelous cigar this is! Lots of exotic spice flavors (nutmeg, cardamom & cinnamon) and room aromas with undertones of pepper and mild sweetness, all surrounding a rich leathery core. The cigar is perfectly balanced, medium bodied and full flavored. No bite, no harshness, just silky smooth flavors in a well made cigar. Alec Bradley Black Market Gordo - 6” x 60 - Alan Ruben’s release at this year’s trade show demonstrates what top quality tobaccos, patient fermentation and masterful blending can produce. It also continues the AB tradition of unique packaging & presentation. The filler blend is Honduran and Panamanian, the binder is from Sumatra and the wrapper is a dark maduro from Jalapa Nicaragua. Avail in 4 traditional sizes plus this 60 ring Gordo. The only reason I smoked this size was it was the only size available at the B&M I was in. The cigar delivers a creamy, rich smoke of medium body. Spicy notes mixed with a semi-sweetness from the wrapper compliment each other well. A subdued chocolate malt flavor was a nice surprise. Cedar flavors built as the cigar progressed. The retro hale was smooth, yet spicy and crisp. Buena Vista Limited Edition & Buena Vista Reserva - In the past two weeks I’ve smoked 2 sizes of the Ecuadorian Puro Buena Vista Limited Edition line (Churchill and Sublimes) and one of the Buena Vista Reserva line (Corona Larga, 4 ⅞ x 50). The Reserva line has some Dominican tobacco added to the filler which adds a bit of subtle spice. Some commonalities - all 3 cigars were very firmly packed and started with a bit of a snug draw. However, within the first ½ inch they all opened up to a perfect draw. All 3 also presented a floral & cedar character, but the Reserva had more spice and pepper. Both lines were medium bodied at best and the volume of smoke was reserved, yet the flavors came through brilliantly. At the higher end of the price spectrum when first released in the US, but listening to the retailers feedback, the pricing has been reduced. I’m hopeful this will help get the brand in more stores, as these are very, very good cigars! What else have you been smokin' Bob? Gukha Seduction - An amazingly smooth and flavorful cigar from the guys known for power and full flavors. This cigar smokes of luxury and refined tobacco with medium body flavors of leather, coffee and chocolate. Humo Jaguar - full bodied Honduran cigar named for the annual cigar festival Humo Jaguar in Honduras, from Miami Cigar and Company. What's My Band? - Bob and Dale reviewed and compared authentic and fake Montecristo No. 2 Habanas provided by Adam Zed. Bob and Dale both liked the "fake" one best. Palio Cutter Contest: The winner of the October carbon fiber Palio cutter is Mark Pousard from Colorado. For November's contest, we are looking for photos of you and your friends enjoying cigars (all the better if they happen to be Esencias, but it will not affect your chances of winning). Send your entry to theshow@cigarmedia.tv. Please include your mailing address with your entry and type "Palio" on the subject line. Don't forget, you must re-enter the contest every month to be eligible to win. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions. Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer. If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to liz@cigarmedia.tv. Do you have a Cigar Review? If you call and leave a cigar review on the herf line and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch!
