This episode of the In The Club Podcast by Club Colors features Ricky "The Recruiter" Camacho, Senior Talent Advisor at FreightVana. Content creation can go with marketing, recruiting, promoting a brand, shaping company culture, and many more.Ricky joins the show to talk about combining recruiting with content creation to turn the whole process into a consistent pipeline of opportunities and find the best people for a company. She shares the creative decisions that go into content creation for FreightVana and the main pillars of the company that sets it apart. HIGHLIGHTSThe creative process of producing and putting out contentHow FreightVana stands outWhat it means to define clarity of culture for recruitingThe biggest challenges of growing the organization QUOTESCreating original and intentional content that hits - Ricky: "I will probably record anywhere from 6 to 12 videos and that doesn't necessarily mean that I have the content to go over it or the niche yet. But I typically watch the video a handful of times and usually, when the idea dawns on me, it starts with something small and I figure out how this is going to apply to this one topic."Transparency being one of the main pillars at FreightVana - Ricky: "We tell our customers more numbers and data than any other brokerage ever and I know that for a fact. Brokers typically like to keep their secrets so we are one of the only, if not the only, brokerage that is extremely transparent with everything that goes on with operations."On the biggest challenges in growing the company - Ricky: "We were having problems with, ironically, supply chain like getting people's laptops in time for their start dates. But we sat down and decided what that process was going to look like, how our new hires would get the most information and have the best foundation within the first couple of weeks." SCRIPTURE: Luke 15 & Psalm 139:7-12“We are always on the lookout for the God of power and might and authority. But Jesus's heart is consistently set on revealing the God his hearers are not prepared to see: the God who lays down His power in order to pursue His people, one by one, person by person, that our hearts might turn back towards our Father. The Jesus standing in front of these Pharisees is the God, running down the road to embrace the wandering son! Discovering Him means opening ourselves up to a God whose power is nothing compared to His love. Indeed, whose power serves that love. Who rejoices when each and every heart turns back to Him.” REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:How can anything (or anyone!) become “lost” to God?Kenny agreed that God must be omni-scient, omni-potent, and omni-present (which are the three traditional, philosophical attributes of God). But he asked us to ponder why Jesus would tell stories that challenge those qualities. Before we move on, talk about this for a moment: in your view, what is Jesus trying to accomplish?Kenny suggested a fourth attribute: God is omni-personal. What do you think he meant by this? What would this mean?In the parable of the lost son, in what sense does the father “lose” his child? What “lie” does the father permit his son to believe (or, at least, to pretend is true) in order for the whole story to unfold? (think: inheritance!)How does the father's posture towards his son reveal God's prioritization of His omni-personal qualities over and above His other “omnis”? What's the older brother's problem? Think about this carefully: what lies is he choosing to believe about his relationship with his father? Why is he permitted to believe them? What does he need to discover? Now, let's go back to the parables of the lost coin and lost sheep: what do these parables teach us about God's attitude towards the “one”? What does it teach us about the temptations/fears of the “ninety-nine”? How can discovering God's omni-personal character help you grow in your faith? What practices can help you meditate on, experience, or otherwise encounter this discovery more regularly?

Todays guest is Fernando Camancho. He's a dog trainer, author and a consultant to pet boarding and daycare facilities, and someone I've been trying to interview since 2015! Fernando started out in graphic design, then moved to advertising before following his passion to work with animals and ended up with a job at the zoo - doing graphic design for their in house magazine. Then he worked as a PT, and as a recruiter for a real estate company before seeing an advert in the newspaper which caused him to quit and become a dog trainer. Fernando learned so much working hands on with dogs in a daycare, and over the next ten years he built a hugely successful dog training company, whilst at the same time being a full-time stay at home dad. Since then he's created online programs, he's a successful and popular speaker, a multi-book author and pet business consultant. In this episode Fern shares; [*] How to use 80/20 to make more money from your existing services [*] Why you need to have a marketing budget to stimulate word of mouth advertising [*] Why pet business owners need to be great with dogs AND great at marketing to have a successful career. [*] Why he still invests in a coach, and recommends pet pros invest in pet business coaching. And much more... Fernando is a real leader in the pet industry and someone I respect immensely. You'll get so much inspiraration and wisdom from these fantastic interview. Many companies use interviews as a foundation for their podcasts. But not all interview-based shows are produced in the same way. Some require more research, a longer or shorter script, different post-production processes, and so on.Therefore, before starting a podcast, see how others approach the creative process, learn from them, and seek inspiration from their work.In this episode of Recorded Content, our host Justin Brown welcomes Kris Camacho, the producer behind the Science With a Twist podcast. Kris and Justin discuss the challenges of creating a show involving heavy research. The two discuss the time frame necessary for developing a topic and what it's like having different hosts in each episode.
SCRIPTURE: Galatians 4:6, 2 Corinthians 5:14-20, & Luke 24:13-31“What if what God is asking for from us is to be sincerely interested in His company? It's true that what He has to say to us leads us to something great: it's a road to salvation, to eternal life…but over and over again, Jesus shows us that God's heart is not to threaten us into accepting heaven, it's to open heaven up to us through a relationship with Himself.” REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:Do you tend to see “becoming a Christian” more as something which happens in an instant or something which happens over a lifetime? In what ways are both true? What is lost when we prioritize the former over the latter? What are your thoughts on the Holy Spirit? What do you think it means for the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, as Christians? What work is the Holy Spirit doing? The challenging truth at the center of the Christian journey is that we're ultimately called to lay down everything before the sovereignty of God. What can make this frightening? What scares you about this calling?Kenny talked about the “ship of Theseus” riddle: how does that riddle relate to our fears about surrendering our whole selves to God? How might it offer some reassurance or comfort?Kenny also said that the metaphor of “walking with God” can help us understand how God can be both present and sometimes silent in our lives. Think this through: is it possible that sometimes God is actually present with us, even when we can't seem to feel Him or hear Him? Are you ever present with others in a similar way? If so, what does that teach us about who God is and how God wants us to experience His presence? How can we be a church for others who sense Christian faith is a “journey” rather than a “destination”?

SCRIPTURE: Luke 23:39-43, Isaiah 7:14, & Micah 6:8“When we stand up for causes over people, we reveal that our actual heart is still fixed on ourselves. We want to be right. We think of ourselves as good people because we support something noble. But if our motivations don't start with actual compassion, with an actual willingness to know and love our neighbors, we won't stick things out when the spotlight is off us. If we're going to be a church for anyone, that has to change.” REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:Where do you see injustice in our community? In the past, have you been involved in “justice work”? What does the Bible teach us about the role God's people have in advocating for justice in the world? Whose “side” does the Bible suggest (or command!) us to “be on”?Kenny said that sometimes we're not there, for the “right” reasons. What did he mean by this? Can you relate? He also said that sometimes we are there, for the wrong reasons. What did he mean by this? Can you relate? What steps can you take this week to build real relationships with people who long for justice? What do you think people who long for justice need from a local church? How can Revolution do a better job of being a church for people who long for justice?
In this episode, Jeff and Lou discuss: Catalysts and benefits of independence.Dispelling the myths of leaving a wirehouse. Financial engineering and creating enterprise value. Making the shift from advisor to executive. Key Takeaways: You can do nearly anything independently that you can do within a wirehouse. You rarely, if ever, see advisors who leave the wirehouse to go independent return to the wirehouse. There is a cost of complacency for staying where you're at versus making the decision to explore other opportunities. Recruiting and M&A to grow your practice don't happen on their own, they take effort and responsibility to grow your business. Adrianne and her twin sister Analiese grew up just blocks from APU in the city of Azusa. They had no idea that the city they knew and loved had an enclave of mostly wealthy, predominantly White people who looked down on them and saw them as unsaved because they were Catholics. And unlike other BIPOC students on this podcast who found pockets of safety in the Multi-Ethnic Programs or in Haven, Adrianne struggled, at first, to find a place to just exist without judgment and condemnation. As someone who didn't speak Spanish, she didn't feel welcome in LASA. She had to hear students, faculty, and staff talk about the "dangers" of the city of Azusa outside the walls of the APU campus. She faced overt racism. And she had to endure constant scorn and criticism of her, then, Catholic faith. Incredibly, Adrianne taught herself how to push back at the many layers of bigotry she faced. She engaged her classes and classmates, and she argued with her professors. In the end, the crucible that is APU molded Adrianne into a tough, compassionate person who fought for others as much as she fought for herself. It's a emotional ride to the end of this episode, and Adrianne shares a piece of her past self that paints APU as the bigoted, awful place it is for people like us. Itzel Fernandez Camacho is a mom of two, a lifelong learner, and M.D. She previously worked in pediatric rehabilitation, and she considers the outdoors to be the perfect environment to stimulate gross and fine motor skills, coordination, and sees nature as a sensory playground where children have endless opportunities to improve their neurodevelopment. My guest today is a US Army Colonel turned Uber driver. True Story! I'm going to take an excerpt from a LinkedIn post of his that blew up in May 2022 and got 60,000 likes and thousands of comments and shares:“I was kind of a big deal, at least I thought. I worked for some of the most recognized names in defense, served at a few national agencies. Then I started Model Citizen Coffee Company and realized - I need more money! So, between writing business plans and developing product lines, I drove an Uber and managed a 4.9999999 star rating - thank you Mr. 3 Star, blew-up my 5-star rating. Here's what I learned in the experience. Nobody cared that I was "Kind of a Big Deal”. I asked my Uber riders lots of questions, and empathized with: Funny thing is, only 3 out of 453 passengers I delivered ever asked about my story. Perhaps the 450 thought Enrique Camacho, was a middle aged immigrant supporting his family the best way he could, with a limited skill set and future. Truth bomb hit me. We're only as good as our last race. People don't really care what we've done. They're interested in what we can do for them today and tomorrow. It's not a bad thing, it's a realization that we must continuously learn and grow, so we don't stagnate. This conversation is a brilliant lesson in checking ego, taking baby steps, facing the fear and doing it anyway.Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!Follow Enrique and Model Citizen Coffee on Social Media:https://www.linkedin.com/in/enrique-n-camacho/https://www.instagram.com/modelcitizencoffee/https://www.facebook.com/ModelCitizenCoffeehttps://modelcitizencoffee.com/ -------------------------------------------------Liked this episode?
