The NFL may be the pinnacle of professional sports in the United States. An NFL athlete must be well-trained to reach such a high level. We tend to look up to these athletes and assume they have their life “all together.” Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether you are an NFL superstar or a kid from the southside of Chicago; you will get stuck once or twice in your life. LaMorris Crawford knows about both of these worlds. LaMorris grew up in gangs on the south side of Chicago. He went from experiencing a life of poverty to where he is now, hanging out with professional athletes as an NFL Chaplain and Marriage and Family Pastor at Relentless Church in South Carolina. In this episode of Learned Opportunity, LaMorris shares his experience helping professional athletes get unstuck so they can have better marriages and lives. If LaMorris can help NFL players from the Cincinnati Bengals meet their potential, then he has some best practices to help you get unstuck so that you can start creating opportunities. LaMorris talks to us about: Setting rhythms Solidifying your identity Dreaming big dreams And more…. In this First Thursday message, we are joined by special guest LaMorris Crawford, chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals. Pastor LaMorris brings us a powerful message titled "Choose Your Gate".
We are living in times unlike any in our country's history. In the months following the killing of George Floyd, nearly every eye in the country has been on the unfolding story of racial tension. In the wake of this tragedy and the ongoing conversations about it, Davey was joined by LaMorris Crawford to discuss the topic of racial reconciliation and what each of us can do in this unprecedented moment in history. This conversation was originally released as a video. To watch the whole conversation, head over to @nothingiswastedministries on Instagram.
The Bible is chalked full of stories of flawed, broken people who, for some reason, God chooses to use in unbelievable ways. It’s easy for us to assume we are limited to a life without purpose or passion, but God says otherwise. God specializes in using the long shot! This week's guest speaker is LaMorris Crawford, team chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals. Episode 520 LaMorris Crawford is the team chaplain of the Cincinnati Bengals. Born on the south side of Chicago, Crawford was brought into a life of poverty, gangs, drugs and violence. His mother gave birth to him at the age of 16 and was shot to death at the age of 17. LaMorris’ Dad was nowhere to be found and to this day, he’s never met his own father. Amazingly, LaMorris escaped his tough upbringing and was able to become the first person in his family to graduate from college. Today, Crawford, along with his wife Megan have four beautiful children, and they serve as the team chaplains for the Cincinnati Bengals. He has a passion for preaching, communicating clearly and effectively God’s word by sharing with others how the Lord can also do an incredible work in their lives. On this episode of the podcast, we talk to LaMorris about trusting in God after being diagnosed with Covid-19, how he's ministering to his players during this pandemic and what he wants everyone to know about the healing power of Christ. Racial Reconciliation Discussion.
We talk to LaMorris Crawford, Olivet alum and current Cincinnati Bengals chaplain, about his experience battling COVID-19. We also talk to Lily Jarzabkowski, our newly selected Student Body President. And we hear about some terrible tornado damage in Alabama in our Moment with Mark.
Born into a life defined by poverty and crime, LaMorris Crawford had a pretty tough childhood. The orphaned son of a teenage mother, LaMorris looked for anything he could find to numb his pain. Sports, popularity, drugs — all the coping mechanisms available to a poor young kid were not enough. All of that changed when LaMorris had a radical encounter with Jesus. Once a poor kid with little hope for a future, he now works as a traveling evangelist and the chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals. LaMorris joins Davey to talk about his story of transformation, how he's finding redemption in the worst aspects of his own history, and some of the chances he's had to share the hope he's found with others.
From living a life of drugs and violence to serving as a chaplain to the Cincinnati Bengals, Lamorris Crawford is the testament that through Christ, your life can change. Lamorris shares his childhood and family background and how he was set to end up just like his family; surrounded by drugs, sex, and violence. He reveals the life-changing experience that brought him to God and how that has impacted his life since then.
In episode 9, Mike interviews LaMorris Crawford, the team chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals. In this episode, LaMorris talks about:Growing up in the projects and his mother being murdered when he was 10 months oldBy 11 years old, he was in a gangThe basketball court was his refuge from a life of turmoil"Christianity is not about behavior modification, but heart transformation""Salvation is not an event but a person""Our job is to believe that God will do His job""There's so much pressure for winning, that coaches aren't being present.""Some plant, some water, but God gives the increase.""Our job is to put the hands of menin the hands of God""The cross was not a tragedy, it was an accomplishment"This is an amazing episode that we trust God is going to do mighty things through. Problems don’t change, unless you change them. LaMorris Crawford grew up with his grandmother, my mother was murdered and I was in a gang by 12 and selling crack cocaine by the age of 14.. “I was doing those things to fill a void in my life, and the void only got bigger… Sports was my outlet.” After seeing someone change for 3 years, LaMorris gave his life to Christ when he was 19. At 16, he didn’t need God, or so he thought. Now as a sport’s chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengal’s, LaMorris works with the team sharing the gospel. “You’re not born with character, it’s taught and developed… Part of humility, and compassion, is paying for a single mother’s laundry. It’s all about making other people important.” We are made in his likeness, his image, and have the spirit of God in us. Expose your heart, mind, and spirit to the word. Develop a HUNGER for God’s word and run your race.
In this message we were joined by LaMorris Crawford, chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals. Pastor LaMorris brought an amazing word in our First service (be sure to listen), and as he joined us for our second service we decided it was so good we had to post both.
