This the second episode of The Deep series and we are talking through Genesis 1 it's references to the deep, to spiritual wisdom and to living with an awareness and reverence for the Unseen realm. This episode is packed full of wisdom and deep thoughts in conversation with Brandi Haskins, a teacher and a student of the Word. Margaux and Brandi explore fact vs. Higher truth, giving weight to our spiritually discerning faculties and the fact that God is Spirit- and God created all things. So the physical realm that we experience came FROM the Spirit… spirit births physical. In Genesis 3 Eve saw that the forbidden tree was “ desirable for gaining wisdom”. But this is not wisdom as we think of it. Brandi reads it as “knowledge that Adam and Eve were not meant to have.”Other favorite quotes from the Episode:“The first thing they notices was a physical thing, they didn't notice a spiritual thing… It says they were ashamed but the FIRST thing they noticed was that they were naked.”“The highest form of truth is the Spiritual.”“The spiritual is higher truth, and my problems aren't going to be solved in the physical realm”“When you are in fear, you are far from divine wisdom .”We are going TOGETHER: BREATHING UNDERWATER MEMBERSHIPSJoin the Community and Newsletter: HERE Email: margaux@permissiontoreign.comInstagram: @permission_to_reignIntro Music by Coma-Media from PixabayImage by Claire Fischer from UnsplashOleksii Kaplunskyi
Daniel 10 marks a major shift in the book of Daniel as God pulls back the curtain and gives us a glimpse into the unseen spiritual realities taking place around us. After three weeks of mourning, fasting, and seeking understanding, Daniel encounters a heavenly messenger whose appearance leaves him overwhelmed and weak. What follows is one of the clearest pictures in Scripture of spiritual warfare, revealing that while God hears our prayers immediately, answers may unfold in ways we cannot see. This chapter reminds us that faithfulness doesn't exempt us from waiting. Daniel's prayer was heard from the first day, yet spiritual opposition delayed the messenger's arrival for twenty-one days. Through this encounter, we learn that prayer is not merely a religious activity—it is a powerful weapon God uses in the midst of spiritual battles. As Daniel struggles with fear, weakness, and uncertainty, God repeatedly strengthens him, encourages him, and reminds him that he is deeply loved and precious in His sight. In this message, we explore: • The significance of Daniel's final vision • Why God's people often experience seasons of waiting • The reality of spiritual warfare behind the scenes • How prayer impacts battles we cannot see • God's encouragement for weary and discouraged believers • Finding strength in God's presence during difficult seasons Key Scriptures: Daniel 10:5-19 Key Truths: • Faithfulness doesn't exempt us from waiting. • Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God gives His people. • Just because you can't see God working doesn't mean He isn't. • God strengthens those who seek Him. Join us as we continue our journey through the book of Daniel and discover how God's sovereignty extends even into the unseen battles of life. When the Lamb breaks the seals, history moves… and only those anchored in Him will stand. Everyone wants to know what's coming… but the better question is whether you'll be ready. Most of us live reacting to what we can see. The headlines, the pressure, the chaos, the tension all around us. But what if what's visible isn't the full story? The Unseen Reality invites us to look beyond the surface and wrestle with a deeper question: what's actually happening behind what's happening? Because if we only interpret life through what's in front of us, we'll misread everything. Our circumstances, our purpose, even the presence of God. Through the book of Revelation, we're not chasing speculation. We're uncovering clarity. This series pulls back the curtain to reveal a spiritual reality where Jesus is present and active, where God is still on the throne, and where our lives are part of something far bigger than we often realize. As we learn to see clearly, we move from confusion to conviction and from fear to confidence, and we begin to live with a perspective that changes how we see everything. In these six weeks, we're not trying to decode every symbol or timeline. We're learning how to see clearly. This sermon centers on the spiritual blessing of faith in an unseen Savior, grounded in the second commandment's prohibition of graven images and reinforced by 1 Peter 1:8, which celebrates the joy of believing in Christ without physical sight. It argues that depictions of Jesus—whether in film, art, or literature—though often well-intentioned, are inherently blasphemous because they undermine the sufficiency and supremacy of Scripture, leading to false ideas, false familiarity, false affections, and false faith, while diminishing the believer's reliance on, respect for, and appreciation of God's revealed word. The sermon highlights six harmful results of such depictions, including the erosion of accurate doctrine, false affections, and a depreciated view of Scripture, while contrasting them with six spiritual benefits of faith without images: a more accurate, affectionate, anchored, appreciative, anticipating, and attractive faith. Ultimately, it calls believers to cherish the biblical portrait of Christ revealed in Scripture, affirming that true faith, joy, and love are found not in visual representations but in the living, unmediated word of God.

“Your true home is a place you have not yet been but have sensed all along…” - Brian Zahnd, from Unseen ExistencesBrian Zahnd is no stranger to controversy, but it's possible at this time that one of the most controversial things he could say is that there is a reality that neither science nor our senses can reliably define; existences that are unseen. This is the very topic of his latest book, and we that book as a launching pad to talk about the impact of Greek and/or Platonic thought on the New Testament, the microtonal rock of Angine de Poitrine, the potential exhaustion of revivalism, and much much more. God uses men for men and graces men for men. The New Covenant is not built on our performance but on the finished work of Christ, and because of what He has done, the most important voice we can tune into is what God's Word says about us, not the steady stream of lies the enemy offers as an alternative.Victory begins with light. Truth is what confronts deception, and the more we see ourselves through the lens of Scripture, the more our confidence in who we are in Christ grows. And when we fall short, we do not run from Him. We run to Him, resting in the finished work of redemption and the full assurance of everything He has already accomplished on our behalf.Hit play and share this episode with someone who needs to stop listening to the wrong voice.

Most people have been fighting the wrong thing for years. Not the wrong way. Not with the wrong weapons. The wrong thing entirely. And the reason most people never discover this is not because the truth is hidden. It is because the thing they have been blaming — the person, the circumstance, the situation — feels so real, so present, so undeniably responsible that the idea of looking somewhere else for the source of the battle has never crossed their mind.Ephesians 6 names the real enemy. Not in a general way. Not as a theological concept. With a specificity so precise — and a description so detailed — that the moment you understand what Paul was actually saying, the entire battlefield rearranges itself in front of you. Here is what makes this passage unlike anything else in Scripture on this subject — Paul did not write it as a warning. He wrote it as a revelation. A revelation about WHERE the real fight is happening. About WHO the real opponent is. And about WHY the strategies most believers are using against the wrong enemy will never produce the results they are praying for. There is something in Ephesians 6 about the location from which the enemy operates that most teachings on spiritual warfare never address. Not because it is obscure. Because it requires something specific from the reader before it can be understood — and most people arrive at this passage already convinced they know what it says. They do not know what it says. And there is one more thing. Something Paul included at the very end of this passage — after the armor, after the weapons, after everything else — that most people treat as an afterthought. Something that is not an afterthought. Something that is the key that activates everything that came before it.What is that something? And what does Ephesians 6 say about the real enemy that changes the way you fight every battle you are currently in?The answer is not in this description.Press play — because you cannot win a battle against an enemy you have never correctly identified.
The world we see is not the whole story. Pastor Nelson's teaching on Overshadowed reminded us that the spirit realm is not a distant concept but a present reality operating right alongside everything we can touch and observe. Scripture pulls back the curtain on what our natural eyes so easily miss.Every spirit being traces its origin back to God, and none can compare to Him. Because spiritual influences are real and active, believers cannot afford to be passive. We are called to live with vigilance and discernment, constantly investing in the inward man through prayer, the Word, and deep fellowship with God. Hit play and share this episode with someone who needs a reminder that there is far more happening in the unseen than we often stop to acknowledge.
The enemy does not show up with a straightforward fight. He works through temptation, accusation, deception, and idolatry, always angling to pull hearts away from the Lord. But no accusation can hold against those Christ has redeemed. The blood speaks a better word, and it speaks louder.Spiritual warfare begins with knowledge. The more deeply we are rooted in God's Word, the less ground deception has to stand on. And here is what changes everything: we do not fight to win. We fight from a victory already secured. Everything we stand on, Christ has already accomplished. Hit play and share this episode with someone who needs to be reminded that they are not fighting for victory but from it.
Ignorance is not our portion. Because we are not unaware of the enemy's schemes, we must be intentional about closing every door, guarding against carelessness, bitterness, and unforgiveness, which are entry points we often underestimate. What we leave unchecked, the enemy will not overlook. The enemy is strategic, and so must we be. He watches for opportune moments, which is why vigilance and godly community are not optional extras but essential to how we walk. As God works in us through sanctification, our part is to yield, staying open to the Holy Spirit and letting Him shape every area of our lives without reservation.Hit play and share this episode with someone who needs to be stirred toward greater vigilance and surrender.
For her latest film, “Time and Water,” Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sara Dosa (“Fire of Love”, “The Seer & the Unseen”) returns to Iceland, this time to cover the island nation's other distinctive geologic feature besides its volcanoes: its majestic glaciers. Deeply embedded in Icelandic history, culture, and myth, these moving rivers of ice are now facing an existential threat due climate change, jeopardizing the nation's very identity. Sara, who spoke with Mike about “Fire of Love” for the pod, joins Ken to talk about her new film and how she came to collaborate with renowned Icelandic poet and author Andri Snær Magnason (“On Time and Water”). Magnason's narration is addressed to an unspecified “you” that represents a future generation, framing the film as a cinematic time capsule. As his beloved grandparents (two of whom participated in Iceland's first glacier expeditions) age and pass away, and his children grow up in the blink of an eye, Magnason reflects on the relationship between time, loss, and memory. When Magnason is invited to write an epitaph for the Ok Glacier, the first Icelandic glacier officially declared “dead” due to climate change, the film takes on an added sense of urgency. Will his generation be able to reverse the effects of climate change before all the country's glaciers disappear? As he says in the film, “Only time will tell.” “Time and Water,” distributed by National Geographic Documentary Films, is in limited theatrical release. This week, The Big 3 are finally here
There are seasons God sets apart not to slow us down but to draw us deeper. Special seasons of devotion are an invitation to intentionally lock in with Him, to clear the noise, refocus our hearts, and respond to a call that has never stopped going out. These are not optional interruptions. They are divine appointments.Prayer is God's design for His people, and it is far more than a religious routine. It is a cry for help from a place of genuine need, an expression of faith that believes God hears and acts, and a daily acknowledgment that we do not carry this life on our own strength. When we pray, we are not informing God of anything He does not already know. We are positioning ourselves in full dependence on the One who holds everything together.Faith and prayer cannot be separated. Prayer is a privilege, and we are called to press into it, to persist, to tarry, to stay on matters until something breaks open. Even after God has spoken, we do not stop. We keep watching, fasting, and praying until every word He has released finds its full expression in the earth.Hit play, let this message stir your prayer life, and share this episode with someone who needs to be reminded that their prayers are never wasted.
What a way to kick off the Mid-Year Retreat! Pastor Nelson brought a message on salvation that cut deep and lifted high at the same time. Before we ever knew we needed saving, God already had a plan. Salvation is not man reaching up to God. It is God reaching down to us, drawing us, revealing our need, and making a way where there was none. The weight of sin is a debt no human effort could ever cancel. So God did what only He could do. He sent Christ as our Saviour, taking on what we owed so we could receive what we never deserved. Righteousness before God is not earned. It is granted through faith in Jesus, and everyone who believes and confesses Him as Lord receives the gift of salvation in full. That kind of grace does not stay silent. What we truly believe will always overflow into how we live and what we say. Believers carry the most important message in history, and we are called to proclaim it with boldness and without apology.Be stirred as you listen and share it with someone who needs to hear this today.
During this course, we have discussed what your iPhone can do for you as a totally blind user. We have also discussed how to use your iPhone effectively, the many available accessible apps, and the many features built into your iPhone. Owning an iPhone is as consequential to one's life as owning a car or house. In this final lecture, Michael Feir will discuss how to live well as owners of these powerful devices. He will point out some of the pitfalls which have proved damaging to individual users and society as a whole. He will share his best advice on how to minimize your chances of falling into these traps. On the other hand, knowing how to do things with your iPhone at the right time can be very empowering and stand us in good stead. We can use it to help ourselves and those with whom we share meaningful connections. Michael will give some pointers on how to be as ready as possible to use our iPhones well when it really matters. He also discusses how to keep your iPhone ready to serve and avoid doing things which make it less capable without good reason.

On this week's Let It Rip friday, we're discussing the battles everyone has that you can't see.
This week on the Science for Sport podcast, Richard Graves welcomes Matt Parr back to the show for a deeper look at the work that really drives performance in elite sport. Matt is the Head of Athletic Performance at Leicester Tigers, a former professional rugby player, and the founder of High Performance Puzzle. Having worked across both rugby union and rugby league, including Leicester Tigers and Catalan Dragons, Matt brings a rare combination of playing experience, coaching insight, leadership responsibility, and high-performance strategy. In this episode, Richard and Matt explore the “invisible work” that sits behind successful performance environments. Not the gym programme. Not the GPS report. Not the testing data. But the conversations, decisions, relationships, standards, and judgement calls that determine whether the physical work actually lands. They discuss why data needs context, how performance teams can align with coaches under pressure, what good decision-making looks like when information is incomplete, and why trust remains one of the most important currencies in elite sport. For sports science, S&C, medical, coaching, and performance staff working in elite environments, this episode is a valuable reminder that high performance is not built by data alone. It is built through people, relationships, standards, and the ability to make good decisions when the pressure is on. In this episode you will learn Why the work that drives performance often sits outside the formal programme, session plan, or data report How conversations between coaches, medical staff, S&C, sports science, and players provide vital context What good alignment looks like in a high-performance environment How to manage differing opinions between technical and performance departments Why frameworks are essential when emotions and pressure start to influence decision-making How to make better decisions when you do not have the complete picture Why trust between the head coach, medical team, and performance staff is critical How to use data without becoming over-reliant on it Why standards often slip in small ways before they show up in performance outcomes How relationships can make or break the effectiveness of even the best performance systems Why gut feel still matters, provided it is shaped by experience and reflection How elite practitioners can reflect more effectively on their own decisions and behaviours Why discipline is a habit, not just a personal trait What Matt has learned from working across rugby union and rugby league Why the best players want honest feedback when standards start to slip About Matt Parr Matt Parr is Head of Athletic Performance at Leicester Tigers and founder of High Performance Puzzle. Heaven is not in chaos… God is still on the throne. When life feels out of control, it's easy to assume God has lost control. LESSON 158Today I Learn To Give As I Receive. What has been given you? The knowledge that you are a mind, in Mind and purely mind, sinless forever, wholly unafraid, because you were created out of Love. Nor have you left your Source, remaining as you were created. This was given you as knowledge which you cannot lose. It was given as well to every living thing, for by that knowledge only does it live. You have received all this. No one who walks the world but has received it. It is not this knowledge which you give, for that is what creation gave. All this cannot be learned. What, then, are you to learn to give today? Our lesson yesterday evoked a theme found early in the text. Experience cannot be shared directly, in the way that vision can. The revelation that the Father and the Son are one will come in time to every mind. Yet is that time determined by the mind itself, not taught. The time is set already. It appears to be quite arbitrary. Yet there is no step along the road that anyone takes but by chance. It has already been taken by him, although he has not yet embarked on it. For time but seems to go in one direction. We but undertake a journey that is over. Yet it seems to have a future still unknown to us.Time is a trick, a sleight of hand, a vast illusion in which figures come and go as if by magic. Yet there is a plan behind appearances that does not change. The script is written. When experience will come to end your doubting has been set. For we but see the journey from the point at which it ended, looking back on it, imagining we make it once again; reviewing mentally what has gone by.A teacher does not give experience, because he did not learn it. It revealed itself to him at its appointed time. But vision is his gift. This he can give directly, for Christ's knowledge is not lost, because He has a vision He can give to anyone who asks. The Father's Will and His are joined in knowledge. Yet there is a vision which the Holy Spirit sees because the mind of Christ beholds it too. Here is the joining of the world of doubt and shadows made with the intangible. Here is a quiet place within the world made holy by forgiveness and by love. Here are all contradictions reconciled, for here the journey ends. Experience - unlearned, untaught, unseen - is merely there. This is beyond our goal, for it transcends what needs to be accomplished. Our concern is with Christ's vision. This we can attain.Christ's vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees. This can be taught; and must be taught by all who would achieve it. It requires but the recognition that the world can not give anything that faintly can compare with this in value; nor set up a goal that does not merely disappear when this has been perceived. And this you give today: See no one as a body. Greet him as the Son of God he is, acknowledging that he is one with you in holiness. Thus are his sins forgiven him, for Christ has vision that has power to overlook them all. In His forgiveness are they gone. Unseen by One they merely disappear, because a vision of the holiness that lies beyond them comes to take their place. It matters not what form they took, nor how enormous they appeared to be, nor who seemed to be hurt by them. They are no more. And all effects they seemed to have are gone with them, undone and never to be done. Thus do you learn to give as you receive. And thus Christ's vision looks on you as well. This lesson is not difficult to learn, if you remember in your brother you but see yourself. If he be lost in sin, so must you be; if you see light in him, your sins have been forgiven by yourself. Each brother whom you meet today provides another chance to let Christ's vision shine on you, and offer you the peace of God.It matters not when revelation comes, for that is not of time. Yet time has still one gift to give, in which true knowledge is reflected in a way so accurate its image shares its unseen holiness; its likeness shines with its immortal love. We practice seeing with the eyes of Christ today. And by the holy gifts we give, Christ's vision looks upon ourselves as well.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

When the storms of life hit, as they do, right, what we do is that instinctively we grab a life vest, we look for a lifeline here on earth, a worldly solution if you will … instead of turning to the One who can calm the storm. So, you have to ask yourself then, who exactly is the Lord of our lives? Just Like the Rest Over these last few weeks we have been looking at what it means to get our feet back on solid ground in life. You know, when we are going through storms we are bobbing around like a tiny little boat floundering on an angry sea and sometimes we don't know which way to head – which way is up, which way is down. All we want to do is put our feet back on solid ground. And it turns out that you don't always find that solid ground exactly where you expect to find it. And we have been exploring this whole idea of getting our feet on solid ground through the story of a humble woman called Hannah who honoured God and turned to Him in the midst of her storm - and at completely the other end of the scale, a priest called Eli and his sons Hophni and Phinehas. They were evil guys and they got their just rewards and the nation of Israel who struggled with their God. If you've got a Bible, grab it and open it up. Over these last three weeks we have been looking at the first seven chapters of the Book of First Samuel. Now First Samuel appears about a third of the way through the Old Testament. We are going to finish off that series today with the crux of what this is all about. We are going to have a look at the decision that ultimately determines whether our feet are on solid ground or not. It's a decision between the obvious and the not so obvious. What is it that you and I can decide to do that will absolutely ensure that no matter what comes our way, our feet are on solid ground? Now the pivot of this whole story – the contrast of Hannah on the one hand and Hophni and Phinehas and their dad, Eli, on the other – happens, if you remember the verse – if you have been with us over these last few weeks – in First Samuel chapter 2, verse 30, where God says: Those who honour Me, I will honour but those who despise Me will be treated with contempt. We are going to pick up that story today. The priests are dead, they've got their just rewards, Hannah's son – she couldn't have a son remember, but she now has a son, he is grown up – Samuel is the judge and the prophet and the leader over all Israel. Now that's a really important concept – they didn't have a King. All the other nations had a King but Israel did not because Israel's system of government was a theocracy – that meant that God was their King. And God appointed judges and prophets to declare His Word over the people of Israel. So He administered justice – this was Samuel – he was a prophet who declared the will of God and God was the King to the people. Now that was unique among the nations and as we saw over the last few weeks, when they honoured God; when they obeyed Him, that nations' feet were on solid ground. Now the story takes an interesting twist. We are going to pick it up in chapter 8 of the Book of First Samuel. Here's how it goes: When Samuel became old, he made his sons judges over Israel. The name of his first born son was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah and they were judges in Beer-sheba. Yet his sons didn't follow in his ways but turned aside after gain – they took bribes and perverted justice. Then all the elders of Israel came together and they came to Samuel at Ramah and they said to Samuel "You are old and your sons don't follow in your ways, appoint for us then, a King to govern over us like the other nations." But this displeased Samuel when they said "Give us a King to govern us. So Samuel prayed to the Lord and the Lord said to Samuel "Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them. Just as they have done to Me from the day I brought them up out of Egypt to this day, forsaking Me, serving other gods so also they are doing to you. Now then, listen to their voice – only you shall solemnly warn them and show the ways of the King who shall reign over them." So Samuel reported all the words of God to the people who were asking him for a King. He said these will be the ways of the King who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horse men and to run before his chariots and he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties and some will plough his ground and reap his harvest and to make his implements of war and to make his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and olive orchards and give them to his courtiers. He will take one tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give them to his officers and his courtiers. He will take your male and female slaves and the best of your cattle and donkeys and put them to his work. He will take one tenth of your flocks and you shall be his slaves and in that day you will cry out because of your King whom you have chosen for yourselves but the Lord will not answer you in that day. But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel. They said "No, we are determined to have a King over us so that we may also be like the other nations and that our King may govern us and go out before us and fight our battles." Isn't that interesting? All this time you go right back to the slavery, when Israel was in slavery in Egypt and God released them through some major miracles and through the parting of the Red Sea and then into the Promised Land and they captured the Land, battle after battle. All this time it was a simple, simple principle that God honours those who honour Him. And God did and God won the battles for them and God delivered them. And now they reject their King, their God who is able and willing to bless them and to protect them. Why? Well, actually, first they blame Samuel's sons and no doubt there is something in that, but actually you find out the reason towards the end of that verse. Look again at the passage we have just read: verses 19 and 20 of chapter 8: But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel. They said "No, we are determined to have a King over us so that we also may be like other nations and that our King may govern us and go to battle and fight our battles for us." They wanted to be like all the other nations. Now, let's think about that. Israel is unique – God is their King, He promised them the Promised Land, He has the power to make it happen. Whenever they honour Him He does make it happen and yet they want to reject Him – why? So that they can be like all the other nations! Is that stupid or what? None of the other nations have an invincible god as their king so why do they want to be like the other nations? Because in the heat of the battle they want a king they can see – a king of flesh and blood! Their enemies have a king at the head of their army so they want one too and they are prepared to give up the perfect power of the King of Kings for a poor substitute so that they can have a king that they can see! How often do we do that? How often do we put our faith in things that we can see – in our investment portfolio to provide wealth is fine until the economy goes belly up, in our career, which is fine until our health fails, in other people, which is fine until they desert us or fail us? See when we hit a storm you know what we want to do? We want to reach out and put a life preserver on instead of go to the One who can stop the storm. We want something we can see and touch and feel, instead of putting our faith in the One whom we can't see. A favourite Scripture you hear people quote is Second Corinthians chapter 5, verse 7 that says "We walk by faith and not by sight" and that's great until the storm hits, when we will definitely go for something that we can see and touch and feel, ahead of someone we can only see by faith – we'll pick that anytime. And that's the point – when we step off solid ground onto a stormy ocean. What's the Problem? Yea, just like Israel, we want to be just like everyone else some days; just normal, everyday people who put our faith in things that we can touch and feel. It is something the Apostle Paul rejected – have a listen – Second Corinthians chapter 5, beginning at verse 1. He says: We know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, if indeed, when we have taken it off, we will not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing, is God, who has given us His Spirit as a guarantee so we are always confident, even though we know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. See, here Paul is talking about the struggle between the temporal and the eternal – between what we can see and what we can't see. And Paul is saying "Look, I have got a body; I've got a tent but one day that is going to pass away and my faith isn't in the "here and now" – my faith is in God – I walk by faith not by sight." It's about where he puts his confidence. Now, let me tell you how easy it is to appoint an earthly King, like what Israel was trying to do and to reject the King of Kings – even when we are out and about doing God's work. This ministry that I am involved in, Christianityworks, it has been going for fifty years out of Australia and yet when I took over four years ago, there were hardly any people supporting the ministry. It had almost no income, it was going broke, there were no programmes going to air. And four years ago – it's still pretty fresh – I remember the panic attacks over finances – you see the money dwindling away and wondering when we are going to go broke – not if but when. You see, what I was doing: I wanted a big bank balance – something that would provide security that I could see and I had to turn away from that. I had to put my trust in God alone and these days, sometimes, let me tell you, things are still very, very tight. And whilst I do my part in all of that, as a good steward of the money that supporters entrust to the ministry, over and over and over and over again, let me tell you, as we have done our best just to simply honour God in all that we do here in the ministry of Christianityworks, He has honoured us. It's as simple as that! Now, let's get back to the story and find out where the real problem was here with Israel and the Kingship of God. Well, Israel got its very first King like all the other nations and God, through the prophet Samuel, appointed Saul. Let's have a look at it in the first couple of verses of chapter 9 of the Book of First Samuel: There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish son Abiel son of Zeror son Becorath son of Aphiah, a Benjaminite, a man of wealth. He had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he – he stood head and shoulders above everyone else. So the prophet hears from God and God says "Saul is the King. If they want a King they are going to get Saul". And initially at least, after he is anointed, Saul has success because even though God was rejected by His people in favour of Saul, God is a God of grace and He continued to honour them and bless them even though He warned them of how the King would turn out. We saw that earlier. See, sometimes when we reject the Kingship of God in our lives and choose something else – career or wealth or whatever it is – initially we have some success but as we will see later, Saul ended up in abject failure. In fact, Saul (if you want to read it in First Samuel chapter 31) committed suicide in the middle of battle. It's easy for you and me to say "Well, what's the problem here? It's probably not a bad thing that they had a King to lead the nation. What's the problem? I do have to invest and plan for my retirement, sure, but do we do it under the Kingship of God?" When God is calling us to give a substantial amount of our money to let's say the poor, do we do that? Or do we sock it away for our retirement? Who or what do we put our trust in, who or what do we submit to? Listen again to what Samuel said to Israel – First Samuel chapter 10, beginning at verse 17: Samuel summoned the people to the Lord at Mizpah and he said to them "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, "I brought you up out of Egypt – I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you. But today, you have rejected your God, the God who saves you from all your calamities and all your distresses and you have said "No! but set a King over us." That's the problem – they rejected their God; they rejected the great Unseen for a King who was far inferior to God but whom they could see. See, despite all that they knew – they knew that God had brought them out of Egypt; they knew that He had rescued them from the Egyptians; they knew that He had rescued them from all their oppressors. God said "I did all that. Couldn't you see that I was your King? Couldn't you see that I am worthy of your trust? Couldn't you see that with Me you have your feet on solid ground? Couldn't you see that?" No, they couldn't see and no, some days we can't see it either. We are blinded by the dazzle of what this world has to offer. It never ceases to amaze me, you know, in times of economic prosperity, people behave as though there is no tomorrow. They put their faith in the money they are earning, their stock portfolio that is growing and the house that's mortgaged up to the hilt and the new car and all that stuff. But then, when the economy eventually takes a dive - as mind you, it always does – they cry out and scream at the price of petrol and the high interest rates and the risk of losing their home. Can I tell you something? You can't live a life of peace if you are putting your trust in an inferior king. You can't have security when you put your faith in those things that will fail. You can't! I can't! It just doesn't work. Choose your King I want to take us right back now to the beginning of this series – to the first chapter of First Samuel. It's the story of a simple woman called Hannah - she was one of Elkanah's two wives. The other wife Peninnah had children, Hannah had none. And if you have ever been in that situation where you can't have kids or you know someone in that situation, you know how incredibly painful that is and to make it worse the other wife Peninnah, would give Hannah a hard time over this. Pretty tough! There is a real storm that was going on year after year after year – this pain of being childless. Now Hannah had a lot of choices in that space. She could have been angry, she could have lashed out or she could have withdrawn. Her husband didn't help her much so what does Hannah do? First Samuel chapter 1, verse 9: Once they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the Lord's temple. In the bitterness of her soul, Hannah wept and prayed to the Lord and she made a vow. She said "Lord God Almighty, if You will only look upon Your servant's misery and remember me and do not forget Your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life and no razor will ever be used on his head. And as she kept praying to the Lord, Eli the priest, looked at her mouth – Hannah was praying in her heart – her lips were moving but her voice couldn't be heard. Now, Eli thought she was drunk and said to her "How long will you keep on getting drunk. Get rid of your wine." She said "Not so, my lord, I'm a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. (Isn't that beautiful?) Don't take your servant for a wicked woman. I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief." And Eli answered "Well, go in peace and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked for." She said "May your servant find favour in your eyes." Then she went away and she ate something and her face was no longer downcast. Now it turns out – see, Hannah was a "nobody", not like the priest – she wasn't a man in the social structure – she wasn't a priest, she was a "nobody". She just goes and pours out her heart to God amidst the bitterness of her soul. Turns out God honours those who honour Him, as she does have a son, she calls him Samuel. She gives him back to Eli; she gives him over to God as soon as he is weaned and he comes and serves as a priest in the temple, under Eli, whom she discovers later, is a bad dude. This priest is supposed to be a go-between between God and His people, yet he and his sons have no respect for God and His people at all, so Samuel is put there by faith by her. Now we have heard the story: Samuel grows up, he becomes a mighty man of God. Do you know why that happened? Because Hannah honoured God! And God says "I will honour those who honour Me but those who despise Me, will be treated with contempt". And that's what Eli and his sons Hophni and Phinehas found out when they died because they did not honour God. And then we saw how, because of them, Israel ends up rejecting God. And you know how that ends up? In defeat! Saul ends up committing suicide – you can look at it in chapter 31, the last chapter of the Book of First Samuel. Israel rejected God as its King and God said "Well ok, I am going to warn you – you're rejecting Me. I am going to give you a King but this is not going to go well for you." And because they wanted a King that they could see, they rejected God anyway, they chose Saul and it ended up not well for them. The Philistines defeated them, Saul died. The one who is honoured by God is the one who honoured Him! How did she do that? In her misery and her pain; in the bitterness of her soul – she didn't act up, she didn't complain, she didn't grumble – she put her trust simply in God. She poured her soul out to Him, God honoured her. Eli didn't, his sons didn't! At the end of the day, Saul didn't, Israel certainly didn't – the one who did was Hannah and God honoured her because she honoured Him. I want to lay a challenge before each one of us today through this story. We all go through times, you know, when we would like to have our feet on solid ground and yet we are all over the place and things don't seem to be working out and everyone is coming up against us. I want to lay a challenge before each one of us today – you and me – we have to choose our King – it's either God or it is something else we trust in. You can't have both – you can't serve two kings, you can't serve two masters. It's either going to be God, the great unseen reality; the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords or its going to be something we see – a life preserver that we can grab onto. Problem is, life preservers might stop us from sinking for a while but they can't stop the storm. Only God can stop the storm! There are people listening today and your life seems to be one endless storm. Maybe you are absolutely sick to death of being tossed around by angry waves; maybe you are in that boat today. Well, it is time to put your feet back on solid ground. It is time to say "You know something? I may be a nobody like Hannah, it may be that I am not an Eli, I'm not a Samuel, I'm not a David, I'm not some big person – I'm some little unknown person like Hannah, that may will be the case. And yet in this whole story she is the only one who received God's blessing because she is the only one who honoured God. She received her son Samuel who had such a mighty influence over the history of her nation." And Hannah was onto something! Maybe today is time to say "I choose my King". Either we are going to choose God or we are going to reject Him and choose something that we can feel or touch. I can choose a "Saul" in my life – you can choose a 'Saul' in your life and it may give us a sense of security for a little while. You know, when that boat is bobbing round the ocean, you grab for the life preserver – that's a pretty good thing. Probably a pretty good feeling but the life preserver doesn't get us out of the storm. It just keeps us floating there for a bit longer. Only One – the only One – that can get us out of the storm; the only One that can put our feet back on solid ground is our King, God. You want your feet on solid ground? This whole story that we have been looking at over the last four weeks in the first nine or ten chapters of First Samuel – this story is about the Kingship of God. And the story tells us very clearly – you want to put your feet on solid ground? Go honour God – go choose Him as your King – go submit to Him as your King! Let me ask you something – which one is going to work, the King of Kings or Saul? Which one is going to put your feet back on solid ground? Which King will you choose in your life?
A couple celebrating their anniversary in New Orleans wandered into Lafitte's, partly because of its history and partly because it felt like the kind of place you stop when you happen to find yourself standing in front of it. Inside, the room was dim, candlelit, and quiet enough to see where everyone was. That's what made what happened harder to explain. While his wife talked with the bartender, he felt someone brush against his arm. Then it happened again. Then it felt less like someone passing by and more like someone had stepped directly beside him. But every time he turned, there was no one there. He didn't say anything until they were outside. That's when his wife admitted something had happened to her, too. And later, when he looked it up, he found someone else describing nearly the exact same thing. #RealGhostStories #NewOrleansHaunting #LafittesBlacksmithShop #HauntedBar #GhostlyPresence #ParanormalEncounter #BourbonStreetGhosts #HauntedNewOrleans #UnexplainedTouch #GhostStoriesLove real ghost stories? This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!On June 10th, 1912, the quiet town of Villisca, Iowa, became the site of one of the most horrifying crimes in American history. Inside a modest family home, eight people—including two young sisters and their friends—were savagely butchered as they slept. To this day, the Villisca Axe Murders remain one of the nation's darkest unsolved mysteries. The brutality of the crime stunned the town and echoed far beyond Iowa's borders. Some believed a traveling preacher came to Villisca to deliver vengeance in the most violent way imaginable. Others whisper that something far more sinister may have taken control of the man who wielded the axe. With no modern forensic science available at the time, speculation and fear spread like wildfire. The case became the stuff of legend—and haunting.Today, more than a century later, the Villisca Axe Murder House still stands, and visitors claim the energy within its walls has never left. What kind of man gets studied at Yale, Brown, and Harvard, builds a 300 person international research consortium, and still has powerful people working to erase his name? Dr. Daniel Ingram is not a guru. He is a retired level one trauma emergency physician. A published neuroscience researcher. The author of a book that has shaped contemplative practice for tens of thousands of readers. The acting organizer of a global research effort spanning Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cambridge, and Oxford. By every credential medicine respects, he is one of their own.So why did a senior figure allegedly commission an academic article engineered to surface at the top of every search of his name, with one stated goal? That nobody would ever believe him again. Because Dr. Ingram crossed a line his profession does not permit. He claimed that awakening is real. That it is measurable. That it is observable in the brain. We go into what he has seen at the edges of human perception. What he documented in the lab. What he believes medicine is doing to patients every single day by refusing to look. The Emergent Phenomenology Research Consortium
Marketing makes the money. But the backend protects it. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down the unseen leverage behind every serious business: the systems, structure, and advisors that protect what you build. Let's be real… A strong brand means nothing if your books are a disaster. A viral video means nothing if your contracts are weak. A massive revenue month means nothing if your taxes, legal structure, and compliance are completely exposed. In this episode, you'll learn: Why backend structure is just as important as front-end marketing How poor bookkeeping, weak contracts, and bad compliance can destroy your business Why serious entrepreneurs invest in CPAs, legal support, and clean systems How a strong backend gives you the confidence to scale aggressively The truth is simple: The boring work is often the most important work. Bookkeeping. Contracts. Taxes. LLC structure. Compliance. Asset protection. That is the foundation. That is the shield. That is what lets you go hard on the front end without constantly worrying about what could collapse behind you. Most people want the spotlight. But elite operators protect the vault. They organize the books. They hire the professionals. They tighten the structure. They build on solid ground. Because true wealth is not just about making money. It is about keeping it, protecting it, and building something that lasts. Secure the backend. Protect the house. And keep leveling up. Your Network is your NETWORTH! David Mains shares another chapter from his new book, tentatively titled Prayer Vigilantes. This chapter addresses how Christians should respond if Jesus came and lived as a houseguest in their homes: “Christians should rejoice, when they learn that Jesus wants to come as their houseguest.”
Yesterday we studied the importance of becoming strong in the Lord before we try to armor up for battle against our enemy, the devil. Again, what good is the best armor in the world if the soldier has no strength to stand? God is strong and he wants his girl strong. God is strong and he's not raising weak daughters. Remember, how do you gain this strength? By supernatural infusion! It's our CONNECTION with Jesus that allows God's strength and power to flow in and through us. Now, the next 2 verses in Ephesians 6. Verses 11 & 12, “Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Spending time with Jesus and growing in your relationship with him through connection then makes us ready for God's armor. Piece by piece, we will put it all on. But don't miss this – you are in a battle you cannot see, but you absolutely feel. Some of the pain you're carrying didn't start with a person – it started with a battle you couldn't see. All those wounds you carry in this life of struggles, hardships, broken relationships … that's proof of the unseen battle. Hurt people hurt people – but behind a lot of hurt people is a deeper enemy who has been wounding them for a long time. The devil and his demons have created a whole lot of hurt people who are now making real messes in real life. You see that mess, but you haven't see the real battle happening creating those messes. Colossians 1:16 tells us, “God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see.” It's foolish for us to deny the reality of all things just because we can't see them. I'm a strong 7 on the enneagram. I avoid all things negative, all darkness and all threats. I have a tendency to stick my head in the sand and pretend everything is okay. That makes me an incredibly fun person to be around … and potentially oblivious to the true threats happening on the daily. But God has made me aware of these things through personal encounters with the miraculous as well as the darkness. I've witnessed the hand of God and I've experienced the presence of evil. I've spent over 2000 episodes of this podcast generally avoiding the topic of evil, but what good does that do you when you're in a real spiritual battle with the unseen? I've avoided talking about evil for a long time – but avoidance doesn't make it less real. Scripture doesn't just acknowledge a spiritual world – it shows us active engagement on all sides. With God and with the devil. With angels and with demons. The Bible makes it clear that there is a real interaction between us and God. God promises when we draw near to him, he will draw near to us. (James 4:8). God says, “Call to me and I will tell you great and unknown things.” (Jeremiah 33:3). God is literally working within you. (Philippians 2:13). On the contrast, the bible also makes it clear there is real interaction between us and Satan. One of Jesus disciples warns us that the “devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). Jesus tells Peter how “Satan has demanded to have you that he might sift you like wheat.” (Luke 22:31). That's real. He's here and he's roaming this earth actively. There are also real interactions between us and angels, God's agents sent on his behalf. In Psalm we read, “He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:11). Lot is visited by 2 angels. Abraham is visited by 3 angels. The angel Gabriel speaks to Mary. The angel Michael fights for Daniel. An angel rescues Peter from prison. Girl, you have no idea how many times God has sent help you never saw. But even so, there are interactions between us and demons. Demons are the fallen angels that chose to follow Satan in his rebellion. Many believe scriptures are describing 1/3 of the angels in Heaven became Satan's demonic warriors. Yes, fallen spiritual beings opposed to God – and therefore opposed to us, his girls. Nope, I don't like it, but it's foolish of me to pretend it's not real. How will you battle what you won't even acknowledge as real? Here's the thing about these spirit forces – God, the devil, angels and demons – they are invisible to human eyes, but look around – their fingerprints are all over our world. We see the beauty and we see the distraction. We see the miracles and we see the evil. The wounds from the spiritual battle are felt in our lives and in our families. What if it's time to stop just surviving your spiritual life – and start walking in the strength God is actually offering you? Don't you think it's time you learn how to be the warrior God created you to be, stand on his side, and join the forces of good against this evil? There's an old saying, “All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” If we do nothing, darkness grows and consumes. Darkness grows not because it is stronger – but because light stays silent. We have a light within us that must be unveiled. DON'T HOLD BACK WHAT GOD HAS PUT WIHTIN YOU! Don't just walk by – shine your light. Don't settle for doing nothing – shine your light. Evil triumphs when God's girls do nothing about the darkness, the hurting, the suffering, and the evil around us. There was a time in my life where I did nothing about the darkness growing in my own family. I just made it look pretty on the outside and ignored the reality within. That darkness was given power because my light was silent. I played little. I don't do that anymore – how about you? Oh that God would open your eyes to see the real battle happening in the unseen places. May he make you SPIRITUALLY AWAKE AND AWARE. We've been sleeping, girls. Many of us have been spiritually dulled – distracted, overwhelmed, and constantly stimulated – while unaware of the deeper battles affecting our minds, our peace and our relationships. We've been hypnotized by our screens and lulled by TikTok. And you know what is happening … the enemy has been attacking our minds, making us depressed and anxious, making our families distant, twisting our desires to be all about our image and our imagined influence. Lord, WAKE US UP!!!!!!! In 2 Kings 6 there's a story of Elisha facing a battle where he and his soldiers are outmatched. Elisha's young servant boy was terrified at the sight of the enemy's great army with chariots and horses surrounding their city. But Elisha had such a connection with God, such an infusion of supernatural strength and power, that he knew about the UNSEEN. And this is what Elisha prays for his young servant who was afraid, “O Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.”. Then verse 17, “The LORD opened the young man's eyes, and then he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.” The army of God was already there – Elisha just had the spiritual awareness to know it. Heaven's army was there, fighting for them. Battles in the unseen heavenly realms. What do we have to be afraid of when we understand Heaven is literally on our side when we stand with God? Oh that our eyes of faith may be opened. Dare to believe there's MORE happening all around you! Here's what you have to know, while the devil and his demons are real, they are already defeated. Jesus defeated them at the cross. But the defeated Satan and his demons are still present trying to do their damage. It's a whole lot like this story: A little girl was riding in the car with her father. She cries out, “There's a bumble bee in the car!” The father grabbed the bee, got stun in the hand, and released the bee. The little girl cries again, “There's a bumble bee in the car!” But the father answered, “No problem, I've got his stinger in my hand.” Yes, Satan roams around like a roaring lion looking to kill, steal and destroy, BUT HE HAS NO TEETH. A lion with no teeth. Your Heavenly Father took away his bite. Satan is defeated – but he is not silent. He still roars, still pressures, still intimidates. But he is a lion without authority over those who stand in Christ. But here's the problem … when we don't connect with Jesus for our infusion of supernatural strength, then put on the full armor of God for the battle, we end up being gummed to death by Satan. He just chews away at us. He can't bite, but he sure can chew. That's what he does – he just chews away at you. He discourages you and wears you out. He roars and scares you into settling for a little life. He keeps you cornered and makes you play little. Even a toothless Satan is stronger than us when we don't use our divine resources to defeat him. Every single believer and follower of Jesus is involved in spiritual warfare to some degree. Every believer is powerless in this battle unless they rely on the resources God has given them. But every believer can achieve victory over Satan if we receive strength in our connection with Jesus and then put on the full armor of God. Every piece of armor is important and every piece is effective. You may not even realize how spiritually tired you've become. May God awaken your spirit – not to fear the battle, but to finally see it clearly. Up next in our series, we will study each piece of the armor. Gear up, Sis. The battle is real … but remember, he's a toothless lion! A profound exploration of metaphysical awakening unfolds in this producer‑favorite replay from September 2025, as Michael sits down with Sara Byers — a respected business leader whose life was transformed by an unexpected spiritual opening. After the passing of her stepfather in 2020, Sara began receiving more than 3,000 pieces of poetry, often in the quiet hours of the night. These writings became a channel for deep truths about grief, identity, intuition, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. This conversation goes far beyond poetry. It's an intimate look at the intersection of leadership and spirituality, and how the two can coexist in a world that often separates them. Sara shares how her awakening stripped away old layers, revealed her most authentic self, and reshaped the way she leads, creates, and connects with others.Together, we explore what happens when a high‑performing executive allows curiosity, intuition, and soul‑centered awareness to guide decision‑making — and how personal transformation can ripple outward into teams, families, and communities. This episode invites listeners to slow down, listen inward, and consider the unseen dimensions influencing their own leadership, creativity, and evolution.⭐ Key TakeawaysSara's journey from grief to metaphysical awakening reveals how personal transformation can spark collective change. Her nightly poetry became a conduit for deeper truths about life, leadership, and emotional clarity.Integrating business strategy with metaphysical insight creates a more intuitive, creative, and human‑centered approach to leadership.Grief can strip away old identities, revealing a more authentic and connected self.Curiosity is a catalyst for growth — personally and societally.Leadership is evolving toward soul‑centered decision‑making, where intuition and humanity matter as much as strategy.⭐ Listen & ConnectFind this episode on Apple, Spotify, or your favorite listening platform. Dead churches don't know they're dead. You can look alive on the outside… and be spiritually empty on the inside.
