Joe Mazzulla is the head coach of the Boston Celtics. He joined Boston in 2019 as an assistant coach and was elevated to his current role in October 2022. Mark Teixeira played 14 years in the major leagues, racking up numerous awards and honors and winning a World Series in 2009 with the New York Yankees. After starring at Georgia Tech, Teixeira was drafted No. 5 overall in 2001 by the Texas Rangers, for whom he played from 2003-2007. After brief stints with the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels, he finished his career with eight seasons as a member of the Yankees. He was selected to the All-Star Game three times, won five Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards and was the American League home runs and runs batted in leader in 2009. Jeff Hostetler is a former professional football QB who played in the NFL from 1984-1998 with the Giants, Raiders and Redskins. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, most famously known for his 1990 season where he took over for Phil Simms late in the season and helped New York to their second championship in Super Bowl XXV beating the Bills 20-19 in one of the most dramatic Super Bowls ever. In college, Hostetler began his career at Penn State and then transferred to West Virginia where he excelled and helped his team to 18 wins in two years as their starting quarterback. In 1998, he was inducted into the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Jesse Iwuji is a Navy Reserves officer and former college football player who currently competes part time driving the No. 34 Chevrolet Camaro for Jesse Iwuji Motorsports on NASCAR's Xfinity Series.  Iin college, Jesse played free safety for the United States Naval Academy and is currently serving as an officer in the Navy Reserves. In August 2020, Jesse made his NASCAR Xfinity series debut and a year later, partnered with Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith to start an Xfinity Series team - Jesse Iwuji Motorsports.  Today on the podcast, we talk to Jesse about being the only driver currently in all of NASCAR that is also serving his country as a US Military member. Ryan Saunders is an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets in the NBA. In 2022-23, he helped lead the Nuggets to their first ever NBA championship. Prior to arriving in Denver, Saunders was the head basketball coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2018-2021. Matt Overton is a free agent NFL long snapper. He first came into the league in 2012 with the Indianapolis Colts and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013. After the 2016 season, Overton departed for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has also had stints with the Seattle Seahawks, L.A. Chargers, Tennessee Titans, L.A. Rams and in 2022 with the Dallas Cowboys. Rich Maloney is the head baseball coach at Ball State University. In 2023, he led his team to a Mid-American conference championship and reached the NCAA Regionals. As a player, Maloney was selected in the 13th round of the 1986 MLB Amateur Draft by the Atlanta Braves and played six seasons in the Braves organization before retiring after reaching AA in 1991.  Maloney began his head coaching career at Ball State from 1996-2001 and then went to Michigan to coach the Wolverines from 2003-2012. In 2013, he returned to Ball State, where he remains as a coach today. Donne Shell played 14 seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1974-1987. He went undrafted after playing college football at South Carolina State and in his rookie season with the Steelers, won the first of four Super Bowls in the 1970's.  During his playing career, he was a three-time First Team All-Pro safety and was selected to five Pro Bowls. Storm Davis is a former MLB pitcher who played 12 seasons with the Orioles, Padres, A's, Royals, and Tigers. He made his MLB debut at the age of 20 with the Orioles in April of 1982 and one year later, was a pitching in the World Series against the Phillies and helping Baltimore to a championship. Bear Rinehart is the lead singer with the GRAMMY nominated, multi-platinum rock band NEEDTOBREATHE. In college, Rinehart starred at wide receiver with Furman University from 1999-2002. Mike Furrey is the head coach at Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina. Previously he was the Chicago Bears Wide Receiver's coach from 2018-2021. In college, Mike starred at Northern Iowa from 1996-1999 and joined the Indianapolis Colts after going undrafted in 2000. After a few seasons in the XFL, Furrey made the Rams roster and played both offense and defense as a converted free safety. He had four interceptions in 2005 with the Rams. In 2006, he signed with the Lions, switched back to wide receiver and excelled with 98 receptions, 1,086 yards and six touchdowns. Marcus Cannon played for 11 years in the NFL with the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans. He was selected in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL Draft after playing college football at Texas Christian University. During his 10 seasons with New England, Cannon was a member of three Super Bowl championship teams in 2014, 2016 and 2018. In 2016, he was named second-team All-Pro. Roger Powell Jr. was named the head coach of Valparaiso University's men's basketball program on April 7, 2023. Previously, he served as an assistant coach with Gonzaga University under coach Mark Few from 2019-2023 and with Vanderbilt from 2016-2019. He played collegiately at the University of Illinois and was a part of three Big Ten titles and three Sweet Sixteen berths. Terrell Fletcher played eight seasons in the NFL with the Chargers from 1995-2002. He was selected in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the Chargers after a stellar college career at the University of Wisconsin. During his senior year with the Badgers, he rushed for 1,476 yards and 12 touchdowns and was named the 1995 Hall of Fame Outback Bowl MVP. Austin Reed is a quarterback at Western Kentucky University. In 2022, he led the nation in passing yards with 4,744 yards to go along with 40 touchdown passes and eight rushing touchdowns. Ty Montgomery is a running back in the NFL with the New England Patriots. He was selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Packers and played four seasons with Green Bay before being traded to Baltimore in 2018. He would move on to the Jets for a season, the Saints for two season and then to New England in 2021. In college, he was a First-Team All Pac-12 with Stanford and a consensus All-American in 2013. LaPhonso Ellis is a former NBA player who was selected fifth overall in the first round of the 1992 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. He would play 11 seasons with Denver, Atlanta, Minnesota and Miami. In his first NBA season, he was named to the 1992-93 All-Rookie First Team.  The Notre Dame graduate had a stellar career in South Bend and was named to Notre Dame's Ring of Honor in 2021. After retirement from playing basketball, Ellis joined ESPN in 2009 and was a college basketball commentator and analyst until June of 2023.  Today on the podcast, we talk to LaPhonso Ellis about living his life for Christ and growing spiritually after becoming a believer early in his NBA career. Dan Venezia is a former pro baseball player who was selected in the 36th round of the 1993 MLB Amateur Draft by the Minnesota Twins after a stellar college career at Concordia University in New York. He played three seasons of minor league baseball before his career came to an end at the age of 23. Billy Hurley III is a PGA Tour champion who turned pro in 2006. His thee tour wins include the 2016 Quicken Loans National, where he defeated Vijay Singh by three strokes. Billy served in the Navy from 2004-2009 and had extended deployment in the Persian Gulf where he held the position of guided missile destroyer's force protection assistant. He was and is currently the only U.S. Military veteran on the PGA Tour.  In November of 2019, Billy had back surgery and has spent the last three years rehabbing with the hopes of returning to the course someday. Braya Choquette is a former Baylor University volleyball player who is currently the Girl's Student Minister at Highland Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. She also has called Baylor volleyball games on ESPN+.  During her four year career at Baylor, Choquette earned Academic honors each year and helped her team to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and an appearance in the national semifinals. Kari Pickens is the head women's basketball coach at Ashland University in Ohio. In 2023, she led her team to a perfect 37-0 season and the 2023 NCAA Division II national title. She is the first woman to win a D-II women's basketball title as a player (2013), an assistant coach (2017) and a head coach. Following the season, Pickens was named Women's Basketball Coaches Association D-II Coach of the Year, becoming the first woman to earn both WBCA Coach of the Year and Player of the Year honors, and the first coach in any NCAA division to be both WBCA Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year. Sid Bream is a former MLB player with the Dodgers, Pirates, Braves and Astros. He was selected in the second round of the 1981 MLB Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers after playing his college baseball at Liberty University.  He made his MLB debut in September of 1983 with the Dodgers. In 1985 he joined the Pirates and played five full seasons there before joining the Atlanta Braves in 1991. He finished his career in 1994 with the Astros. Philip Haywood is the head football coach at Belfry High School in tiny Belfry, Kentucky. He is the winningest high school coach in the state of Kentucky with 472 career wins and eight state championships.  In 2013, he was voted USA Today's Best High School football coach and in 2017 was named coach of the year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association. Blake Anderson is the head football coach at Utah State. In his first two seasons with the Aggies, he's won 17 game and led his club to back-to back bowl games. Prior to arriving in Utah, coach Anderson was the head man with Arkansas State from 2014-2020.  In 2019, Blake's wife Wendy passed away after a battle with breast cancer. Kendrick Bourne is a wide receiver with the New England Patriots. He went undrafted in 2017 after a stellar college career at Eastern Washington. He signed with the 49ers in 2017 and made the final roster as a rookie where he played in 11 games. In 2019, he had 5 touchdown receptions and helped San Francisco to the NFC title and a berth in Super Bowl LIV against the Chiefs. In 2021, he signed with the Patriots and finished with a career-high 55 receptions, 800 yards and five touchdowns. Riley Patterson is an NFL kicker with the Detroit Lions. He was traded by the Jaguars to Detroit in May of 2023. Alex Call is a professional baseball player with the Washington Nationals organization. He was selected in the third round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft by the White Sox. Aubrey Kingsbury is a soccer goalkeeper and a member of the USA Women's national soccer team that will compete at the 2023 World Cup beginning July 20.  She's also currently participating in the NWSL with the Washington Spirit and in 2019 and 2021, was named NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year. Matt Roth is a former college basketball player with the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten. He is currently the head basketball coach at Blackhawk Christian high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jemal Singleton is the Philadelphia Eagles Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs coach. He came to Philadelphia in February 2021 and since his arrival, he's helped the Eagles lead the NFL in rushing yards per game and rushing touchdowns and culminated in a Super Bowl LVIII appearance.  Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia, Singleton had NFL coaching stops with the Colts, Raiders and Bengals and collegiate coaching stops with Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
