    Former Kansas State alum Morgan Burns on walking away from the NFL and becoming a pastor

    Morgan Burns is a former cornerback and kick returner for the Kansas State Wildcats. His senior year, he returned four kickoffs for touchdowns and earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year from the league's coaches.  After going undrafted in 2016, he signed with the Tennessee Titans but just a few weeks later, he walked away from pro football to pursue ministry where he spent time as a youth pastor at City Church in Wichita, Kansas.     Pitcher Tyler Zombro on trusting in God after a horrific on-field accident

    Tyler Zombro is a pitcher with the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He pitched in college with George Mason University and then signed with the Rays in 2017. After going a few years through the minor league system, Zombro reached as high as AAA in 2019 and in 2021, was back in AAA pitching with the Durham Bulls. On June 3, 2021, Tyler was facing Brent Cumberland of the Norfolk Tides when a pitch was hit back up the middle at over 100 mph and hit Zombro in the right side of the head just above the ear knocking him unconscious.     Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams on the NBA Finals, coaching and serving others

    Monty Williams is entering his third season as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns. In 2020-21, he led the Suns to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1993 and finished second behind Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau for the NBA's Coach of the Year award.  Prior to his time in Phoenix, Williams had coaching stops in New Orleans, Portland and Oklahoma City. The former player was a No. 1 draft pick by the New York Knicks back in 1994.     Former RB Johnathan Franklin on an NFL career cut short at 24 and trusting in God's timing

    Johnathan Franklin is a former NFL running back. He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In college at UCLA, Franklin had a standout career rushing for a school record 4,403 yards and 31 touchdowns.  In his senior year of 2012, he led UCLA to a Pac-12 South Division championship rushing for 1,734 yards and 13 touchdowns. Expectations were high for the Los Angeles native and when he arrived at Green Bay, he immediately made an impact, rushing for 103 yards in Week 3 against Cincinnati. But in week 12 against the Vikings, Franklin suffered a neck injury that would end his football playing career at the age of 24.     Paul Mills is the men's head basketball coach at Oral Roberts University. For fourteen years from 2003-2017, Mills was an assistant coach with the Baylor Bears under head coach Scott Drew before taking the job with Oral Roberts on April 28, 2017. In the 2020-2021 season, Mills led Oral Roberts on an improbable March Madness run that saw them defeat No. 2 seed Ohio State and No. 7 seed Florida to advance to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Arkansas 72-70. They were just the second 15 seed to ever advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the history of the NCAA Tournament.     Former MLB Pitcher Jason Standridge on Auburn Football, Adoption and serving with Water Mission

    Jason Standridge was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the first round of the 1997 MLB Draft (31st overall). Four years later, he made his MLB debut with Tampa against Texas and would go on to pitch in parts of seven seasons in the Big Leagues appearing in 80 games with Tampa, Texas, Cincinnati and Kansas City. In 2008, Jason made the decision to pith overseas  in Japan and was there for the next 10 seasons before retiring after 2017. A big part of Jason's journey has been serving and he's currently involved with Water Mission, a Christian engineering ministry that flights the global water crisis. He and his wife Joy have supported the ministry by taking trips to Haiti and Uganda in several refugee camps where Water Mission is serving.     Former Steelers safety Robert Golden on walking away from the NFL for more purposeful work

    Robert Golden played six seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2012-2017. He went undrafted in 2012 after playing his college football at the University of Arizona and signed as a free agent with Pittsburgh. In 2018, he signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs but asked for his release and would retire from the NFL at the age of 27.  Today, Golden has pivoted to a more purposeful work as the President and CEO of Golden Charter Academy in his hometown of Fresno, California. The school launched in August 2021 and has a mission to inspire powerful young minds.     Tampa Bay Rays Brett Phillips on baseball, Bible studies and FUN

    Brett Phillips is currently an outfielder with the Tampa Bay Rays. He was selected by the Houston Astros in the 6th round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft. Five years later, he made his MLB debut on June 5, 2017 with the Milwaukee Brewers. After two seasons with the Brewers, he was traded to Kansas City, where he spent three seasons. In August of 2020, he was once again traded to the Rays and found himself in a pennant race that ultimately saw Tampa win the American League championship. In October 2020, on the biggest stage at the World Series, Brett Phillips became a baseball hero. In Game 4 against the Dodgers, Phillips found himself at bat in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runners on and his team down 1 run. He would line a single to right field and ultimately both runners would score on the hit, giving the Rays a Game 4 World Series 8-7 win.     Morehead State Basketball Coach Preston Spradlin on basketball success and coaching for a greater purpose

    Preston Spradlin is the men's head basketball coach for Morehead State. In 2021, he led the Eagle program to prominence winning the program's first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship in 10 years and leading his club to the NCAA Tournament with a 23-8 record. He was named OVC Coach of the Year.  Spradlin joined Morehead State in 2014 as an assistant coach and became the head coach in 2016. Prior to his time with the Eagles, he spent 5 seasons with the University of Kentucky basketball program and head coach John Calipari. He spent two campaigns (2009-11) as a graduate assistant with the Wildcats before three years as the assistant director of operations (2011-14).  His duties included film breakdown, creating and maintaining playbooks, assisting with opponent scouting and day-to-day operations.     Former NFL QB Christian Ponder on marriage, retirement, and identity

    Christian Ponder is a former quarterback who played six seasons in the NFL. He was selected 12th overall in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. After spending four seasons in Minnesota, he played two more years with Oakland, Denver and San Francisco before retiring in 2017.  In college, Ponder was recruited by legendary coach Bobby Bowden at Florida State and was a three-year starter for the Seminoles. In 2010, Ponder was the first Seminole quarterback since Chris Weinke in 1999 to lead his team to victories over both its in-state rivals, Miami and Florida. He also the 2010 Bobby Bowden Award presented to the top student athlete among FBS schools.     Antwaan Randle El on Super Bowl wins and living for Christ

    the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and helped his team to a Super Bowl championship. As a player, Randle El was selected in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and in 2005, he threw a memorable touchdown pass in Super Bowl XL, helping the Steelers beat Seattle 21-10.  His NFL career spanned four seasons with the Steelers, four seasons with Washington and returned for one final season in 2010 with the AFC Champion Steelers.  In college, Randle El excelled as a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, basketball and football. But it was his play at quarterback that stood out and saw him named Big Ten Most Valuable Player and First-Team All-American in his senior season of 2001.     Former CFB coach Mark Richt on lessons learned from Bobby Bowden

    Mark Richt coached college football for more than thirty years with Florida State, Georgia and Miami. From 1990-2000, he was an assistant coach under his mentor, Bobby Bowden and helped the Seminoles to seven consecutive ACC titles and two national championships in 1993 and 1999. In 2001, he got his opportunity to become a head coach with the Georgia Bulldogs and for the next 15 seasons, he led the Bulldogs to nine seasons of 10 or more wins and was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005. After his departure from Georgia, he became the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes in 2016 and coached Miami for three seasons and in his second year  he won ACC Coach of the Year after leading his team to their first ever ACC Coastal title.  After returning from coaching in 2018, Richt became an analyst for the ACC Network and is now a first-time author, releasing his new book in 2021, "MAKE THE CALL : Game-Day Wisdom for Life's Defining Moments."     Kevin Byard is entering his sixth season as a safety in the NFL. He was selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by Tennessee and in his second year, was named First-Team All-Pro after leading the league in interceptions. From 2017 through 2019, Byard led the NFL with 17 interceptions. In college at Middle Tennessee State, Byard set school records with 19 career interceptions, 377 interception return yards and four interception returns for touchdowns. He finished sixth in MTSU history with 312 career tackles.     Mac Powell is a singer/songwriter who spent three decades as the co-founder and lead singer of the Grammy winning Christian band Third Day. The band has sold over seven million albums in the United States and had 28 number one Christian Album chart radio hits.  In 2018, Third Day disbanded and Mac is now operating as a solo artist. He released two solo Country albums in 2012 and 2014 and his first Christian solo album, "New Creation" is releasing in October.     Arizona Wildcats RBs Coach Scottie Graham on God ordering and directing his steps

    Scottie Graham is a former NFL running back who is currently the running backs coach at the University of Arizona. After a stellar college career at Ohio State, he was selected in the 7th round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After one season in Pittsburgh and then then a stint with the Jets, he signed with the Vikings and played four seasons in Minnesota and led the club in rushing in 1993. He finished his NFL career with the Bengals in 1997 and in six seasons as a running back in the NFL, he had zero fumbles.  Following his playing career, Scottie went to work with the NFL's Players Association and served with them for 16 years. He spent the past 6 years with Arizona State as lead administrator for student-athlete development and welfare. In 2021, he was took a role with the University of Arizona as their running backs coach. This is his first coaching job in football.     Chase Griffin is a quarterback at UCLA. In 2020, he saw his first game action for the Bruins and finished the season completing 64.5% of his passes, 451 yards and 6 TD. In his first 2 years at UCLA, he was able to obtain his BA in Public Affairs and in 2021, earned the Chancellor's Service Award, the highest leadership and service award for students at UCLA.  In 2014, Griffin was first thrusted upon the public stage when he was featured on ESPN.com as "QB most likely to succeed." His high school career saw him attend Hutto High School in Hutto, TX.     Clayton Carlin is the defensive coordinator for Sam Houston State's football team.     Former Dodgers GM Kevin Malone shares the powerful story of his son Shawn going from from death to life

    Kevin Malone is a former Major League Baseball General Manager. He's currently the CEO and Chairman of the Board for the United States Institute Against Human Trafficking.  For over 20 years, Malone was part of a pro baseball career that saw him go from playing to the front office. In 1985, after a short-lived pro baseball playing career, Malone began work as a scout with the Angels. In 1987, he moved to Montreal and in 1994, was named the General Manager of the Expos. That season, he led Montreal to the best record in baseball (74-40) in a strike shortened season and was named one of the best GM's in baseball.  Malone served for two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles as their Assistant General Manager and in 1998 was named the General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2001, Malone retired from professional baseball.  Today on the podcast, we talk to Kevin Malone about his baseball career, his namesake being featured on "The Office," his time with the Expos, his testimony of faith and the work he's doing to combat human trafficking.     Kelli Masters is an attorney, a certified sports agent and the founder of KMM Sports, a full-service sports management company based in Oklahoma City. She has represented more professional athletes than any other woman in the history of sports and was named one of the 25 most influential women in sports worldwide by Bleacher Report.  She is a former National Champion and Five-time World Champion Baton Twirler who graduated with honors from Law School at the University of Oklahoma. Masters was also voted Miss Oklahoma in 1997 and competed in the Miss America Pageant that same year.     Brock Purdy is a quarterback for the Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12. He played his high school football at Perry High in Gilbert, Arizona and was voted Gatorade's Football Player of the Year for Arizona in 2017. As a true freshman at Iowa State, he started eight games and cemented himself as the Cyclones QB. Last season, Purdy led Iowa State to a 9-3 record and their first ever Big 12 Championship game appearance. In the 2021 Playstation Fiesta Bowl, Purdy was named Offensive MVP in helping the Cyclones to a 34-17 win over Oregon.     Thomas R. Williams is a former linebacker who played his college football at USC. He was a 5th round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2008 NFL Draft and spent five seasons with Jacksonville, Seattle, New England, Buffalo, Carolina and Tampa. He retired from football after suffering a neck injury in 2012.  In college, Williams was dubbed "The Hitman" and was a team captain that helped the Trojans to a 59-6 record and two national titles. His teammates voted him as the team's most inspirational player in the 2007 season. Thomas is a professional speaker who leads a non-profit called "Pursuits of Greatness" where he helps college student athletes prepare for life after playing sports. He is the author of two books including "Permission to Dream" and "The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness."  Today on the podcast, Thomas R.     Yolett McPhee-McCuin is the head coach of Ole Miss' women's basketball program. Coach Yo, as she's know by many, helped the Lady Rebels to 15 wins and a runner-up in the Women's NIT Tournament in 2021.  She arrived at Ole Miss after serving as head coach at Jacksonville University for five seasons and led them to an NCAA tournament berth in 2016. She's also had coaching stops at Clemson, Pittsburgh and Arkansas Pine-Bluff.  McPhee-McCuin is the first Bahamian woman to coach at a Division I program, and was the first black female head coach at Jacksonville.
