Former British heavyweight champion Sam Sexton had a successful career that ran from 2005-2018 and saw him finish with 24 wins with four losses. Here, Sexton talks about fighting the likes of David Price, Hughie Fury, Derek Chisora and Martin Rogan, and working in camp with Matt Skelton, Wladimir Klitschko and many more. He talks about the grief he felt after the loss of his mother, PEDs in the heavyweight division, the damage Klitschko did to him in Austria, meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger, early sparring sessions with Herbie Hide and Jon Thaxton and coping with the loss of identity and the buzz of fighting in retirement. This is great stuff from Sam.
It's so hard to remember who to thank. Here, I tried my best. It isn't perfect, but it captures the sentiment. Mad to think that this podcast is still relevant after all these years. I couldn't record this without a purpose and that purpose is to give the boxing fans moments. Those points in time, they will always remember because they stopped them dead in their tracks. As long as I feel I can still do those, I will carry on. But…that takes time and you have to let me help create those moments.
Big Liverpool heavyweight David Price took bronze at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and was rocketing towards the heavyweight crown in the professionals. He'd defeated John McDermott, Sam Sexton, Audley Harrison and Matt Skelton – seemed set for a huge fight with Tyson Fury in Anfield – and then the wheels came tumbling off.He lost to Tony Thompson, twice, and would in fact be defeated by three men who would fail drug tests in their careers.Price was reborn as a vulnerable puncher late in his career, saving shows with his marquee name and exciting style and for many it is a case of what might have been, but for the always open and honest Price, he knows he's had a good career and is proud of it.Boxing Life Stories is now on PATREON.You can get access to research, unseen photographs from Boxing Life Stories, go behind the scenes of the podcast with Tris Dixon and even get some episodes early. You can help support us through another 100 episodes and help us to grow by visiting www.patreon.com/trisdixonBoxing Life Stories is bought to you by HANSON LEE RESOURCING who were voted “The UK's Best Specialist Insurance-Sector Recruitment Firm for 2020” in the Corporate Excellence Awards. ‘Not only do we find the best people, we’ll help you retain them.' Former European heavyweight champion Michael Sprott has done almost everything in boxing. There isn't one leading European heavyweight he hasn't fought as a pro or sparred with, from being in training camp with both Klitschko brothers, working relentlessly with David Haye, going to Russia in camp with Alexander Povetkin to fighting the likes of Danny Williams, Matt Skelton and Audley Harrison. On the way down, he also fought an up and coming Anthony Joshua, but often had to ply his trade abroad. Through his career, he was cast as the opponent or the gatekeeper. He fought contenders and champions with records of 8-0, 6-0, 13-0, 15-0, 9-0, 18-0, 22-0, 14-0 31-1 and you could go on. He fought Ruslan Chagaev, Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, Alexander Dimitrenko, Robert Helenius... He's also a nice, humble chap but he has an itch to scratch and, aged 45 and with a 42-29 record, he wants one more fight. This episode also features Tris Dixon's Q and A from Twitter.

Michael defended his title against 2000 Olympic Gold medalist Audley Harrison in London, February 2007. Harrison had demolished Danny Williams in his last fight and was on course to face Matt Skelton in a world title eliminator. A 9/2 underdog with most bookies, Sprott came off the floor in the 1st round to knock Harrison clean out in the 3rd with a left hook.
