Making a Scene Presents an Interview with The Customers Customers are a guitar-driven rock band originally formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1995 by songwriter and vocalist Ryan Sexton. The group's story began when a demo of Sexton's songs made its way to Elliot Roberts, Neil Young's longtime manager, who was then helping launch Young's label, Vapor Records. Roberts heard promise in the songs and asked whether Sexton could put together a band to bring the material to life. From that opportunity, Customers were born. http://www.makingascene.org

The sixth episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded 'Down The Local' in Liverpool, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Josh Sexton to discuss crisp selections in pubs, Gen Z and the rise of the 'old man boozer', and more... The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland. Well, sort of. It's equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it's as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves. The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true' pub. Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob's mates), we'll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers. The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham. Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don't need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help... Follow @pubcrawlerspod for more! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

A LOT happened earlier today. The guys react to all of it, explain why they aren't thrilled about this summer haul, offer up some positives and remember the LeBron James era. Then, they dive into a Q&A with the live audience.
On this episode Mike breaks down the LaMelo Ball, Kawhi Leonard, and Ja Morant trades before diving into LeBron's decision to leave the Lakers. It appears this was in the making for a while given how quickly the Lakers pivoted to trading for Walker Kessler and signing Grimes, Mamu, and Sexton. Mike shares his thoughts on each of the possible LeBron destinations: Golden State, Cleveland, and Miami. Finally, Mike talks Jaylen Brown and the Celtics possibly parting ways even as the Celtics add Mitchell Robinson and Mike Conley.Visit our Sponsors!Give With HoopsGive With Hoops is a groundbreaking initiative that fuses basketball analytics with modern sponsorship. Marcus Thompson, a prominent sports journalist from The Athletic, joined the show to discuss the latest rumors surrounding Lebron James' potential move to the Golden State Warriors. As the NBA world holds its breath, Marcus shared his insights on the possibility of Lebron joining the team, citing the Warriors' competitive advantage and the influence of his past experiences with coach Steve Kerr and teammate Steph Curry. Marcus delved into the history of Lebron and Steph's relationship, which began with a jersey on Steph's wall in high school and evolved into a deep friendship. He also discussed how Lebron's past experiences with the Olympics and his desire to play with a coach like Steve Kerr, who understands the importance of accommodating players' needs, could sway his decision. The conversation also touched on the Warriors' backup plan if they don't land Lebron, with Marcus mentioning Collin Sexton as a potential target. However, the news broke that Sexton has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, changing the landscape of the situation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Preaching: Mike RothDuring the long stretch of the Christian year from Advent to Pentecost, we are invited to ponder the mysteries of Christ: incarnation, atonement, resurrection. The remainder of the year, Ordinary Time, turns to the generations of every day saints, the Jesus-followers who keep pushing the Divine Story forward. In an age where American Christianity seems to have lost the plot, we can turn to the stories and examples of mystics and poets, women and outsiders who have kept the way of Jesus alive in times ancient and modern. This series will explore pairs of saints whose lives and writings inspire us to keep moving forward today. This week, Mike turns to two women six centuries apart—the medieval mystic Julian of Norwich and the poet Anne Sexton—who each embodied the work of feminism in their writing. From Julian's vision of Jesus as a nursing mother to Sexton's poems on grief, addiction, and an irreverent, card-playing God, both found their own language using the experience of women to illuminate the Divine.Pearl Church exists to express a sacred story and to extend a common table that animate life by love. A primary expression of our sacred story is the weekly sermon. If our sermons inspire you to ponder the sacred, to consider the mystery and love of God, and to live bountifully, would you consider supporting our work? Poets have always written about love, but the divorce poem is a much more recent subgenre. In this episode, Sarah and Sandeep ask if the formal processes of legal separation can be successful material for poetry, starting with a look at Milton's prose arguments in favour of divorce and the ways in which ‘confessional' poets such as Lowell and Sexton took on divorce as a subject alongside other taboo subjects and subverted the traditional poetry of romantic failure. They then turn to three more recent examples. In Hans Magnus Enzensberger's ‘The Divorce', a picture of a marriage is constructed through defamiliarised domestic objects and the political metaphors of postwar Germany. Anne Carson's ‘fictional essay' The Beauty of a Husband draws on different genres and the writings of Keats to make sense of a chaotic, lonely experience with an untruthful husband. And in ‘The Mpemba Effect', Isabelle Baafi chooses the palindromic form of the ‘specular' as a metaphor for the non-linear collapse of a marriage. While The Epstein Class keeps gaining more power and more wealth as it's never being held accountable for its crime and corruption, political and corporate media elites join forces to blunt a progressive-populist movement. But as we're seeing across the nation, and in Michigan, the working class is beginning to rise-up by backing progressive-populist campaigns. 16:11-32:00: Establishment Machine Part 2Pat continues explaining the ways the elite corporate and political establishment machine keeps enriching their power and wealth while telling the working class there's not much they can do. Whether it's the Trump Regime's & Israel's War on Iran, or high inflation, or government working with data centers, or how Michigan political elites created cushy government pensions while working on decimating working class programs, The Establishment believes the working class will just accept the system as is. And it did for a long time, but not anymore.33:00-42:31: Why Pat Waves Stars & StripesIn the "Last Call," Pat explains why he proudly waves the American Flag, especially while living in these authoritarian times. 42:32-44:26: EndingPlease, subscribe to the podcast, download each episode, and give it a good review if you can!leftoflansing@gmail.comLeft of Lansing is now on YouTube as well!Music provided by Wanderbeats. The Chicago Bulls offseason rumor mill is getting spicy, and Haize is playing Facts or Cap on some of the biggest names being connected to the rebuild. Could the Bulls use their cap space to take on Ja Morant's contract and land draft assets? Should Chicago pursue Mitchell Robinson as a center upgrade? Could Colin Sexton or Zach Collins return as veteran bench pieces? And what does Matas Buzelis playing for Lithuania mean for his development heading into next season?Haize starts with the wildest idea: Ja Morant to the Bulls. The argument is that Chicago could use Morant's contract as “good bad money” if Memphis attaches real draft capital. But while Morant is still talented and capable of raising a team's competitive floor, Haize explains why Chicago may not be the right situation. The Bulls are still early in a rebuild, and Morant likely needs a team with a stronger established culture and a win-now structure. Then the conversation turns to Mitchell Robinson, who has been connected to the Bulls as a potential free-agent center target. Robinson's offensive rebounding, rim protection, and size make sense stylistically for Chicago, especially with the Bulls needing center help. But his availability, role, price point, and long-term fit all matter as Bryson Graham builds the next version of this roster.Haize also breaks down why a potential return for Colin Sexton or Zach Collins could make sense. Young teams still need veterans, and players like Tre Jones, Jalen Smith, Sexton, and Collins could help stabilize the locker room without blocking the development of Chicago's young core. The biggest question is whether Collins can stay healthy enough to fill that role consistently.Plus, Matas Buzelis is set to play for Lithuania this summer, and that could be a major development boost before training camp. International basketball has helped several young NBA players take a leap, and Buzelis could benefit from meaningful reps, added responsibility, and a faster rhythm entering the season. The show also features voicemail reactions on Tre Jones, Jalen Smith, Isaac Okoro, Caleb Wilson's leadership quotes, the Bulls' coaching timeline, Nic Richards, Guerschon Yabusele, Josh Giddey narratives, and how Bryson Graham may want to reshape the roster.
James Sexton joins the show for a powerful conversation on the raw truth behind human relationships, personal transformation, and the evolution of consciousness. For decades, James has been one of the world's most sought-after divorce attorneys, navigating the most intimate and fractured dynamics of love. In this episode, he steps away from traditional marriage advice to explore a side of his life he has never publicly shared: the profound impact that psychedelics, specifically LSD and psilocybin, have had on his spirituality, worldview, and healing. Sexton breaks down how realizing the finitude of love and life can completely reframe our priorities, shifting our focus away from trivial conflicts and toward deep connection. He also dives into the root causes of relationship breakdowns, the illusion of outer appearance versus inner strength, and the myth of emotional closure. Watch until the end to understand how facing our darkest moments and dismantling the ego allows us to cultivate authentic intimacy and build meaningful relationships before time runs out.

The Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives Cameron Sexton (R) gives us insight to the last bills passed during this legislative session. Here are some of the main points. AIRPORTS- From the 9 member board of the Nashville Airport Authority, 6 state appointments and 3 local appointments. Sexton says, "We put in a lot of money, we have done a lot of things to help the airport, and so we are saying we want some picks on the board. The mayor still has picks, the governor and 2 Speakers have picks. When asked why change the Airport Authority when it is already successful? Sexton added, "It's not a power grab, I would say if you're investing $50, $100, $150 million dollars into something, wouldn't you want to have people on the board to make sure that your investment is doing well?" AFFORDABILITY- Sexton says that the state has temporarily reduced taxes several times, Cracked down on PBMs, struck down laws preventing hospitals from expanding and created workforce housing. Sexton says, "We are already an affordable state and will continue to be that way." SCHOOL VOUCHERS AND ESA- Although the state of Tennessee ranks 47th out of 50 states for student funding per capita, Sexton believes private schools with students who already attend private school are justified in receiving the $7530 Education Freedom Scholarship (an increase from last year from $7295) to go directly to pay a portion of private school tuition. The 3.2% increase would remain consistent with per-pupil base increase in the TISA formula, but less per student than what is given to private schools. When it comes to testing, public schools use TCAP, and was required for students using Education Savings Account money for private school, but without TCAP used, how will private schools show student competency? "The private schools are going to tell us what standardized test they are using. Because we want to know what that is. What I think we need to do is look at those tests, look at the TCAP and allow the public schools to use whichever national standardized test that they want to and that's fair... It would be a fascinating argument which they would choose." NewsChannel 5+ can be seen on Spectrum/Charter Ch. 182 and over the air on Ch. 5.2. In recent years, Americans have faced a deluge of horrifying developments in politics and culture: stolen elections, fascist rallies, families torn apart and locked away. A common refrain erupts at each new atrocity: This isn't who we are. In American Rule, Jared Yates Sexton upends those convenient fictions by laying bare the foundational myths at the heart of our collective American imagination. From the very origins of this nation, Americans in power have abused and subjugated others; enabling that corruption are the many myths of American exceptionalism and steadfast values, which are fed to the public and repeated across generations. Working through each era of American growth and change, Sexton weaves together the origins and perpetuation of these narratives still in the public memory, and the acts we have chosen to forget. Stirring, deeply researched, and disturbingly familiar, American Rule is a call to examine our own misconceptions of what it means, and has always meant, to be an American. listen and subscribe to Jared's Podcast subscribe to his substack newsletter Pete on Blue Sky Pete on Threads Pete on Tik Tok Pete on YouTube Pete on Twitter Pete On Instagram Pete Personal FB page Stand Up with Pete FB page All things Jon Carroll Follow and Support Pete Coe Buy Ava's Art Hire DJ Monzyk to build your website or help you with Marketing

Stirring, deeply researched, and disturbingly familiar, American Rule is a call to examine our own misconceptions of what it means, and has always meant, to be an American. listen and subscribe to Jared's Podcast subscribe to his substack newsletter On YOUTUBE.com/StandUpWithPete ON SubstackStandUpWithPete Listen rate and review on Apple Podcasts Listen rate and review on Spotify Pete On Instagram Pete on Blue Sky Pete on Threads Pete on Tik Tok Pete on Twitter Pete Personal FB page Stand Up with Pete FB page
