Daryl Dixon & Carol Peletier exit the Chunnel and finally open up about their bat-ish, yet life-altering visions. Should one eat hot dogs, drink scotch, and be merry while they're alive or save those ancient canned dogs for a special occasion? Did Laurent Carriere and Ash Patel make it home? Will CARYL succeed in fully processing their grief?

Back on 1st June this summer, the Woven in Kirklees Festival kicked off with World Stitch Day at Oakwell Hall in Batley. Among the attractions of stalls from local community groups, textile artists, workshops and an interactive fabric 'Time Machine' was The Red Dress on display in West Yorkshire for the first time. The Red Dress is an award winning collaborative embroidery project which was conceived by the British artist Kirstie Macleod. It took 14 years to complete and features the work of 380 embroiderers from 51 different countries, many of whom come from marginalised communities. The dress is currently in the middle of a global tour and was on display for the whole of June at Oakwell Hall in Birstall. The 'Woven in Kirklees' textiles festival first launched in 2019. The community festival celebrates all kinds of textiles and related crafts with yarn bombs, textile art exhibitions, workshops and talks. The biennial festival runs for a whole month and this year had 130 different events happening throughout June. Initiated in 2019 by Kirklees Council, the festival "is owned by everyone, including community groups, textile businesses, cultural and educational organisations, artists and heritage sites across the district".I went along to World Stitch Day and spoke to a number of the exhibitors, the festival's curator, Nat Walton as well as Kirstie Macleod about the amazing Red Dress. Welcome to episode 33 of the Best Issue Ever podcast! This week we have returning champion Nathanial Hubbard! Hub hosted a ton of episodes of the podcast that was once Teen Titans Wasteland which became Titan Up the Defense and is now occasionally updated as Champions of Digression. His last episode was about Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane, and it's great! In classic Hub fashion, he brings us a very odd, generally forgotten comic from yesteryear. That's Showcase #78, which was written by Marv Wolfman and Joe Gill, and features art by Jack Sparling. This podcast is recorded in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This episode is edited by Kate Warner of the band Church Fire. The theme music is provided by Earth Control Pill, whose work is on Bandcamp. I do not want to deal with ads AT ALL, so if you also don't want to deal with ads, please consider supporting the podcast by rating and reviewing and/or signing up at the Ko-fi @ ko-fi.com/saracentury. There is now a Discord for this podcast, and here's the slightly cumbersome invite link if you are interested: https://discord.gg/ZwbvqJDAGS Finally, you could support my other ventures, including the pending narrative horror podcast Medusa Mask. Visit my website to sign up for my newsletter for updates. Oh, and I'm a horror writer, so pick up my short story anthology, A Small Light and Other Stories, through Weirdpunk Books, or pretty much wherever else you get books. I wrote a zine about the Scream franchise that you can pick up @ sara-century.square.site.

A strange anomaly of an episode - an episode in which everything goes wrong for the good guys. Well, everything went a bit wrong for your host as well so it's been a bit of a palaver putting this together. The last time guest Jason Thompson was on it was a rare win for the home team - so will history repeat itself or will Toby be exterminated just before he can successfully launch his recording? There's only one way to find out - we need to set a course for Kembel where there's a somewhat thorny situation developing. #doctorwho #doctorwhoreaction #doctorwhocommentary #doctorwhocomedian #tobyhadoke #doctorwhofacts #positivedoctorwho #classicdoctorwho Please support these podcasts on Patreon, where you will get advance releases, exclusive content (including a patron-only podcast - Far Too Much Information), regular AMAs and more. Brucella is a familiar name in the lab—but recent updates to the sentinel guidelines are reshaping how we approach this pathogen. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Laura Filkins and Dr. Paige Larkin to discuss the latest changes: updates in nomenclature, the removal of certain Brucella species from the select agent list, and the renewed emphasis on safety in the lab. We dive into taxonomy controversies, clinical features of brucellosis, and practical steps laboratorians can take to protect themselves while delivering accurate results. Whether you're a student, laboratorian, or clinician, this conversation highlights what you need to know about the evolving landscape of Brucella diagnostics and safety. What does MAGA propaganda represent in American politics? And what does Superman represent? To unpack these political symbols, I speak with Nicholas Cull, Professor of Communication at the University of Southern California, a pioneer scholar and educator in the field of public diplomacy and a historian of the role of mass communication in foreign policy. Does he believe that President Donald Trump acts like a wannabe dictator and has weakened America's position on the global stage? Listen to our conversation. The more REVIVAL sits with me, the more it feels like a love-letter to James O'Barr's The Crow, but funnier. On that last note, Luke Boyce & Aaron B. Koontz deserve praise for balancing a grim and serious murder mystery / who-done-it with lots of levity. It's great when a season can tie-up loose ends while leaving a few dangling for another season.

My guest for this episode is folklorist and author Dagrún Ósk Jónsdóttir, who joined me to discuss her new book Ghosts, Trolls and The Hidden People; An Anthology of Icelandic Folk Legends. Dagrún Ósk's research on the folklore and legends of Iceland has included the topics of cannibalism, Ouija board traditions, supernatural beings and, for her PhD thesis, women, femininity and gendered power relations. Her new book is a window into the mythic and supernatural history of the Icelandic people. The six chapters of the anthology are each based on a different setting: farm, wilderness, darkness, church, ocean and shore. It features translated tales from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as introductions from Dagrún Ósk herself, which place these often-supernatural happenings in the context of Icelandic society. The legends include stories of hidden people, trolls, ghosts, sea monsters and even polar bears, exploring themes of love, revenge and conflict. The book highlights the tension between Christianity and paganism, past and present, nature and humanity, and divides within society. More details about Ghosts, Trolls and The Hidden People; An Anthology of Icelandic Folk Legends can be found at https://reaktionbooks.co.uk/work/ghosts-trolls-and-the-hidden-people. Przypadkowe zestrzelenie samolotu cywilnego mogłoby posłużyć Moskwie do propagandowej narracji o „polskich psychopatach” atakujących cywilów.

Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 177-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 25,032 on turnover of 15-billion N-T. The market closed at yet another record high on Tuesday, as investors took cues from gains posted by the tech-heavy Nasdaq overnight to buy large-cap electronics stocks. Prosecutors appeal release of Ko Wen-je The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office is appealing a decision by the Taipei District Court to release Taiwan People's Party founder and former chairman Ko Wen-je on bail, pending his trial on corruption charges. Ko was released from the Taipei Detention Center on Monday on bail of 70-million N-T. He is required to wear an ankle monitor, banned from leaving his residence and prohibited from contacting codefendants or witnesses in the case. According to the prosecutors' office, it's appealed (上訴) Ko's release as it has arranged to question several witnesses in October. And prosecutors are arguing that a defendant should be detained until witness questioning is complete. Gongguan roundabout removal to begin Sept. 13 despite protests The Taipei City Government says it will begin removing the Gongguan roundabout (圓環) and filling in the bus underpass (地下道) on September 13 as scheduled. The statement comes as civic groups are planning a protest on Friday they hope will stop the city from beginning work to demolish the roundabout and bus underpass City transportation officials says the project is expected to be completed in late November. When completed it will replace the roundabout at Roosevelt and Keelung roads and its three lanes with a standard four-way junction controlled by traffic lights. European Commission leader prepares for annual setpiece speech at time of global uncertainty The European Commission leader Ursula von der Leyen is preparing for her annual setpiece (具有強烈效果的片斷,事先佈置好的戰術) speech, which comes at a time of global uncertainty, and political instability in France. The speech is usually an hour-long address to mark the start of the new policy agenda after the summer vacation. Ross Cullen reports. French President Names New Defense Minister French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu as France's new prime minister. The 39-year-old Lecornu is the youngest defense minister in French history. A former conservative who joined Macron's centrist movement in 2017, he has held posts on local authorities, overseas territories and during Macron's yellow vest “great debate,” where he managed mass anger with dialogue (對話). Macron's quick decision to name Lecornu comes ahead of a day of mass disruption planned today by a protest movement called ‘'Block Everything'' that prompted the government to deploy (調動) an exceptional 80-thousand police to keep order. Iran Egypt Sign Cooperation Agreement Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency have signed an agreement in Cairo to open the way for resuming cooperation, including on ways of resuming inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities. Egypt's foreign minister met Tuesday with his Iranian counterpart. They discussed developments involving Iran's nuclear capabilities. The meeting came at a sensitive time as France, Germany and the United Kingdom on Aug. 28 began the process of reimposing (重行) sanctions on Iran. Iran's president had signed a law July 2 suspending all cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog. It followed Israel's 12-day war on Iran in June, during which Israel and the U.S. struck Iranian nuclear sites. That was the I.C.R.T. EZ News, I'm _____. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn

Watching Z: The Beginning of Everything, about Zelda Fitzgerald led me to read a bit more about her. I'd attempted to read Zelda's novel many years ago so I was not unfamiliar with her story – but I hadn't retained much of it. The TV show was terrible but Zelda's Wikipedia page made me think. Her Wikipedia page makes a big deal of Zelda's lack of skill in the domestic arts. There's a section in which we learn that Zelda didn't do F. Scott's laundry and he found all his dirty shirts piled up in a closet. I think we're meant to find her charmingly inept. One Story Magazine Editor Patrick Ryan cut his teeth on the short story form. Author of the critically acclaimed collections The Dream Life of Astronauts and Send Me, Ryan has spent a career editing masters like Joy Williams, Colum McCann, Alice Munro and Ann Beattie. For forty years, he's tried his hand at novels, but nothing stuck. Until now. Ryan's debut novel is Buckeye. The book has already become a Read With Jenna pick (which she calls a “once-in-a-decade epic”). It's one of those cancel-your-plans, move-into-the-guestroom, forget-about-getting-anything-else-done-for-three-days novels. It is a 450-page wholly immersive book that sweeps across generations and wars and dives deep down into its characters' lives. It follows two couples in a small Ohio town in the lead-up and aftermath of WWII, how their lives intertwine and the impact of their relationships on the generation that follows, who fight wars of their own. Ryan captures the intimacy of what happens inside people's bedrooms and inside their own minds as well as what has happened to our nation and the arc of history across the 20th century. He joins Marrie Stone to talk about it. They discuss pacing a novel versus short stories, the research required to render a novel as detailed as this — and how to make it not feel like you've done a lot of research — managing characters across generations, how to avoid sentimentality in intimate fiction, what editing writers like Joy Williams and Alice Munro has taught Patrick about writing, and so much more. They also talk about Ryan's longtime friendship with Ann Patchett (parts of this novel were written in her basement and the book is dedicated to Ann and her husband, Karl), and how that friendship feeds both their work. In today's episode, I'm building on what I started discussing last week as I continue to make a dark synth track to accompany one of the many hunting scenes in The Thirteenth Hour prequel, A Shadow in the Moonlight, about a cursed hunter who has to spend eternity hunting an enchanted deer. I've wanted to learn to use a desktop based DAW to make and edit music so am using this track as a way to do that. I've settled on the free web-based program Bandlab, which is supposedly the easiest one to start using, though I will say that I have found none of the ones I have tried intuitive or especially user friendly. That said, connecting a keyboard to the computer has helped a great deal, and I expect that the initially hassle will have longer term payoffs in terms of flexibility and range of tools at my fingertips when making new tracks than I would have doing it all analog. So, I'm trying to not throw my hands up in frustration and go back to what I know since the whole point was to learn how to use a DAW in order to make this track. In addition, I have been experimenting with another digital tool called Nauk Nauk to make short videos of the toys I've made. The app is basically generative AI specific to action figures and making them move. I'm not super for or against this kind of technology, and while I touch on some of the operational pros and cons of using this kind of tech (at least from what I can see), this is one I can get behind. Who doesn't want to see their toys come to life? Especially ones you've made! Case in point - this one of Beverly Switzler is my favorite so far: https://www.tiktok.com/@13thhr/video/7547184629434813710?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7547583918360708621Thanks for listening!∞∞∞∞∞∞∞Once Upon a Dream, the second Thirteenth Hour soundtrack, is now out in digital form and on CD!
