Michael Jerome had been drumming in a post-industrial metal band when he auditioned for Richard Thompson in 1999, little knowing he would be this brilliant guitarist's percussive foil for the next 25 years and counting. Jerome also has played with Charlie Musselwhite, the Blind Boys of Alabama and, for several years, John Cale. He's been Better Than Ezra's drummer since 2009 and played and toured with Slash for his latest album—and what started as an experimental side project is now moving center stage: The Third Mind, the improvisatory psychedelic band assembled by Dave Alvin and Victor Krummenacher. As thoughtful in conversation as he is dazzling behind his kit, Jerome tells how he developed his unique style and adapts it for each project—and he relates what it's like to be in Los Angeles now as he tries to help friends and others who have lost almost everything in the catastrophic wildfires. When you hear about the music of a guitar virtuoso with a doctorate in philosophy, who cut his musical teeth performing and collaborating with singer-songwriter Al Stewart (“Year of the Cat”), you know you will be getting something wonderfully unique. In a career that has spanned a dozen albums and thousands of shows ranging from living room concerts to the Royal Albert Hall in London, Dave Nachmanoff has built a broad and loyal fan base and a unique niche as a performer and songwriter.Touring, accompanying, and recording with his songwriting hero, Al Stewart, for over 15 years gave Dave the chance to get his own music out in front of tens of thousands of people and gained him international exposure and recognition. Over the years, he has shared the stage with a long list of legends of the folk and rock music worlds, including the likes of Alison Krauss, Steve Forbert, Firefall, John Wesley Harding, and blues legend Libba “Freight Train” Cotten (when he was ten years old). Dave continues to record and tour, playing well over a hundred shows a year in listening rooms, private house concerts, and at other events. He is focused on using his music to make a difference in the world and benefit concerts are an important part of that.Dave's album, “Cerulean Sky”, was recorded with Grammy-nominated producer-engineer Bill Smith, who has worked with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Yes, among others. The Cerulean Sky studio band included Michael Jerome and Taras Prodaniuk (Richard Thompson's rhythm section), and Carl Byron on keyboards (Jackson Browne, Hot Club of LA). Dave's writing has strengthened over the decades and many fans are calling the songs on “Cerulean Sky,” his best yet. When not on tour, Dave is busy producing for other artists, teaching master classes around the US and working in his unique niche of writing and recording custom songs.More information about Dave and friends mentioned in this episode is just a click away...Dave Nachmanoff WebsiteDave Nachmanoff Facebook https://www.bandsintown.com/a/205935"Must Love Dogs" Music Videohttps://twitter.com/davenachSome of Dave's friends and music colleagues:Al StewartMichael McNevinElizabeth CottonLate for the Train - Dave Pascoe and Laura BensonPete HamiltonTim RenwickPeter White

We all know Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra at one point was doing pretty "good." In this (quite possibly most hilarious) edition of GITM, we find out how the man, myth and legend is doing now. (Spoiler alert—pretty fabulous.) With a solo album recently behind his sails (Anywhere You Go), the Pilgrimage Festival co-founder, unparalleled skilled mimic (watch for an unmissable impromptu GITM theme song) and consummate “palaverer” shares his preferred hugging style, thoughts on everything from bubble-machines to electric bikes and unique insight into the power of positive thinking.

Episode 17 On May 3rd 2019 I was contacted about a recent UFO sighting over Springfield, Oregon. The case was less than 2 hrs old and very close by. Join me, in all of it's raw and explicit form, as I interview witness Michael Jerome and Shannon Ortiz. The couple, along with several others around them, witnessed and filmed 3 large balls of light form a triangle shape over the valley and then simply blink out of view. To make matters even more interesting for the 3rd of May, I had earlier that morning been preparing to do some more casework from the Owl Moon Lab. A place I have been studying and interacting with the paranormal since March 2018. This short 5 min. clip on the second part of the podcast documents more suspicious window smudges or "snot rocket" at 7ft up, hair samples in the tree and perhaps grassy/greasy handprints on the backyard fence rail. Never a dull moment.
