This week I had an awesome chat with writer Dave Dwonch.  His work includes Prom of the Dead and the new webcomic, Mind Palace, which creates a singular universe of all of Bryan Fuller’s TV creations, including Hannibal.  Dave has an abundance of stories and we just scratch the surface in this conversation. I definitely want to get him back on the show to talk some more. Dave can be found online at OutOfMind.co.  You can find Mind Palace at MindPalaceComic.com and you can purchase Prom of the Dead at BehomethComics.us.   In other news, past guest Mike Garley has returned to Kickstarter for a one-shot digital comic called Our Final Halloween.  At the time of this recording, he’s only a few days in with over 100 backers and about halfway to the funding goal. This week, writer M.L. Miller returns to talk about the conclusion of Gravetrancers from Black Mask Studios.  This has been a trippy and unpredictable read. No character is safe from this insanity. The fourth and final issue of Gravetrancers is due out on July 25th.   You can find more from M.L. Miller at his official site, MLMillerWrites.com.  He also has his own podcast called Spoiler Alert. In other news, the first volume of Long Lost from previous guest, Matthew Erman and artist Lisa Sterle is now out in stores.  This collects the first six issues of the series so if you slept on this in single issues, you can pick it up in the trade paperback.  On the Kickstarter front, past guest Mike Garley has returned with more Samurai Slasher. This time it’s a Survive Your Own Adventure book.  That’s right. It’s a horror version of the classic Choose Your Own Adventure series. This week’s guest is Mina Elwell, the writer of InferNoct, a new series from Scout Comics that just debuted this week.  It’s a moody, Lovecraftian mini-series that really gets under your skin.  The comic follows Sam, a young girl starting a new job as an in-house nurse for an elderly man.  Things start out a little weird at first and only get stranger as the comic goes on, leading to some pretty crazy reveals in the first issue alone.   Mina can be found online on Twitter at @MinaElwell.  InferNoct can be found on Twitter at @InferNoct_Comic and on Facebook and Instagram at @Infernoct. This week’s episode is also brought to you by Mutiny, the new horror film that follows Christina, a young reporter who struggles with anxiety, that discovers a virus that causes the infected to harm themselves in violent, and sometimes fatal ways. As Christina's boss pressures her to scrap the story, she starts to see signs of the virus all around her. Now, she must decide whether the real danger is out there or in her mind. If you're into body horror and social satire, this is the movie for you.  Plus, if you’re a fan of The Kill Screen from previous Funny Book Splatter guest, Mike Garley, this will be right up your alley.  I love how the wonders of modern technology have led to a whole new breed of horror story. The crowdfunding campaign for Mutiny launches today (October 20th), where your contribution can get you exclusive content, a pre-screening of the film, and even a walk on role on set! Join Mutiny on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook at @MutinyTheFilm to find out how you can get involved and help bring this project to life.   In other news, a quick update for you.  My very first Funny Book Splatter guest, Dirk Manning has just launched a Kickstarter campaign for Tales of Mr. Rhee: Volume 4. Everything Burns.  The campaign met its funding goal in under four hours and is already plowing through stretch goals.  Dirk always overdelivers on his Kickstarter campaigns including extra comics, prints, and more.  In other news, Heavenly Blues from previous guest Ben Kahn has been optioned by 51 Minds to be turned into a feature film.  As a reminder, Heavenly Blues is basically Ocean’s Eleven in Hell.  This is some great news for Ben and I can’t wait to see how the movie turns out.   CONTACT: Email | Twitter SUBSCRIBE: RSS | iTunes | Google Play | Stitcher Music by Eric Matyas (www.soundimage.org)

This week my guest is Mike Garley, the writer of Samurai Slasher and The Kill Screen.  The former is an homage to old school slasher movies featuring a samurai, while the latter is set in a world where computer viruses can infect mankind.  There’s currently a Kickstarter campaign to fund the print run of a new 70 page Kill Screen collection called Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost.  At the time of this recording, the campaign has already met its funding goal and is marching towards some stretch goals.  And yes, I backed the campaign. Mike has also recently released a small print run of 666 copies of a new Samurai Slasher one-shot called Late Fees.  There will be a Kickstarter campaign for a new Slasher series coming soon.   Mike can be found online on Twitter and Facebook as @MikeGarley.  He also has a Patreon set up for Kill Screen with Joshua Sherwell where you can get some more from that series. Quick update for you on some past guest activity.  The Colder Omnibus mentioned in the episode with writer Paul Tobin will be released next week on September 27th.  I cannot recommend that series enough.   Also, as a reminder, I’ll be at New York Comic Con in a few weeks.  I’m planning on doing some interviews from the show floor and will probably drop these as smaller, bonus episodes sometime in October.  If you’re going to be at the show, please let me know and we can chat.
