We're continuing on with our ongoing Great Marvel Movie Retrospective with Spider-Man: No Way Home! It was a big discussion but we still find time for some news in The Week In Geek, the comic books we're buying in The List, a Dramatic Reading from Spider-Geddon #1, as well as special themed cocktails and some craft beer reviews as well! Elias has found a new pastime: griping about Dan Slott on "Spider-Man." Jaina would love to show him the good Slott books she's read. Elias caved and decided he could gripe about Slott AND read a good Slott comic by revisiting 1 of 2 arcs he's actually read: the original "Spider-Verse." Folks. If you've only seen the movies, this shit will be a wild trip. Spider-Gwen! SP//dR! Silk! The worst Silk plot point ever! Spider-Woman as a pirate? And something a little...Superior.For those wanting Spidersman, check out "Spider-Geddon." You will be horrified but you won't be disappointed.Want to read along with us? Here ya go! We read "Superior Spider-Man" #32-33, "Edge of Spider-Verse" (Vol. 1) #1-5 and "Amazing Spider-Man" (2014) #7-15. For completeness's sake, they also read "Spider-Verse" #1-2, "Spider-Verse Team-Up" #1-3, and because they really wanted to roll deep "Scarlet Spiders" #1-3, "Spider Woman" (2014) #1-4, "Spider-Man 2099" (2014) #6-8, and "Free Comic Book Day: Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) #1. Don't ask for an actual reading order. It's all kind of a mess.Next time, "Captain America" (2012) #1-10. Simple! Easy! You probably don't even have to read it.
Today we talk about Ben Reilly, who is a clone of Peter Parker, which comes with a lot of responsibilities such as: being Spider-Man, dying multiple times, sacrificing yourself for the greater good, and becoming a Demon King. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse just hit theaters a few weeks ago and it's safe to say this is Sony's best Marvel movie since 2018's Into the Spider-Verse. Well the execs over at Sony are ready to ride the Spider Train all the way to moneyville! They've reached out to DT!HQ for help crafting a new, Spiderman-based, genre-inspired cinematic universe. That's why this week, we're digging into Wikipedia to find the wildest Spiders Men from across the Marvel Universe and assigning them a matching film genre! Matt is here to play fast and loose with spiders, men and punctuation. Andrew tells the story of a True American Hero (TM) as only a Horse Movie (TM) can. Todd reminds us all of the trauma we suffered at the hands of We're Back! A Dinosaur Story. Recommended Reading: Debate This! Ben Reilly is one of the most tragic and complex characters that Marvel has ever created. And he is my favorite comic book character of all time. So give me a chance to tell you about why I feel this way about the clone of Spider-Man that would become the Scarlet Spider, Spider-Man himself, The Jackal...and finally....Chasm.

To close out Black History Month, CJ and Swara discuss the first full appearance of Hobie Brown of Earth-138, AKA The Anarchic Spider-Man, AKA Spider-Punk, in "Edge of Spider-Geddon" #1 from 2018. Why is Hobie such a great character that feels relevant for our times? How does this comic do a good job of exploring oppressive systems on the marginalized and why we must resist them, whatever dimension that we're in? Before that, we discuss the news of Spider-Man 3's new title, "No Way Home," what it might mean for MCU Peter, how we think WandaVision is going to affect that film and the MCU at large, and much more! It's Into The Spider-Verse!And it's very, very good. You already know that though because how could you not, right? I will go on about this at length in the episode but when I first saw this movie, it blew my mind. Visually, it's like nothing else I'd ever seen. As Madge points out, it looks like a comic come to life but it doesn't look cheap or hackneyed. Very interested to see what they do with the sequel to this one but it's Sony so... you know...Plus!We tell you all about the characters from the movie and their super secret origins. As an added bonus, you'll find out who's first appearance is worth the most. It's pretty obvious to be honest, especially when you take Peter Parker out of the mix. What was more surprising was which issues aren't worth that much. Also! The Six Degrees of Madge continues and this episode sees us try to link Into The Spider-Verse back to 1995's Judge Dredd. We do it pretty quickly but if you can do it quicker or better (without cheating and looking it up on wikipedia) let us know. In 2016, Ben Reilly returned. We hated it. Covered in Episode 62, we discussed the story that brought about the return of the character… and while I hated that story, I attempted to give it a shot, especially when Josh and I interviewed him in Episode 64. So, Zach goes through the 25 issues of the storyline, before jumping into the Spider-Geddon Story Arc that ran from Oct-December 2018. (Effectively catching up from every appearance...
