"Choose your story, Change your life" is a theme of today's guest, Judy Arazoza. Everyday, we get a choice in what we feed our mind, our body, our heart. Judy Arazoza is a dynamo and inspiration to midlifers in all she does! She describes herself as the “average” lady next door, who EXCELS at being herself! She began her career in health as a Respiratory Therapist and Respiratory Care Adjunct Instructor in NY and now, with multiple certifications under her belt, she focuses on preventative health through modalities such as mindfulness, resistance training and sustainable nutrition. She's the owner of Grateful Fitness and the host of the Air Hug Community podcast where she offers countless tips for the midlife journey. In this episode, Judy speaks about fitness in mid-life, "We're not the same person we were back in our 20s, so we shouldn't train in the same way." Our focus should be on proper nutrition, resistance training is next, followed by cardio, with a dash of strength training on top. Judy's fave affirmation: "I am strong, I am disciplined, I am healthy" and "I love myself!" Action Steps: 10 minutes of "non-exercise" movement Pause daily and write down one thing you're grateful for Look in the mirror daily and say to yourself, "I love you." **Judy's Pesto Recipe: 2 cups of tightly packed leaves such as basil, spinach, wild ramps, and or parsley any combo will do (remove thick stems) 1/4 cup nuts (walnuts are my favorite) 4 cloves garlic peeled and chopped 1/4 cup olive oil best quality first cold pressed 1/ 2 cup grated pecorino Romano cheese Add Water if too thick Combine everything and blend in food processor or blender. Feel free to use a mortar and pestle, l am not patient enough so I use a blender. Taste and add salt and pepper as desired. Use within a day or two and Freeze extra in ice cube trays. If you want to find out more about Judy, visit her website at https://gratefulfitnessNY.com. Her podcast, which I definitely recommend, is called Air Hug Community, available on all podcast platforms. You can also catch up with her on Instagram and Pinterest @JudyArazoza. Pesto Recipe: 1. Pour one cup of olive oil into a blender. 2. Add fresh basil from the garden (about 3 cups, but guesstimate) or you can buy some packaged at the store. Recommendation if store bought, get more bang for your buck with plant not container sales.  3. Blend the two together. 4. Then add 3 tablespoons of minced garlic and about a 1/2 cup of pine nuts (more cost effective option is walnuts) 5. Blend together 6. Add Parmesan cheese if you want as well as fresh tomatoes on top as a garnish.
