Feeling buried by work yet driven to do more? We sat down with operations leader Bob Hendrickson to explore a simple truth with big consequences: you can't manage time, only commitments. From the factory floor to running multi-facility, make-to-order operations at Steelcase, Bob shows how lean principles and David Allen's Getting Things Done combine into a trusted system that lowers stress and raises output—at work and at home.We trace Bob's path through hypergrowth, crisis, and supply chain shocks, and unpack why systems outperform willpower. Bob shares his “compass” for action: start with self-mastery (a personal GTD setup that holds every promise), harmonize the team (short huddles, clear owners, visible outcomes), leverage proven systems (Toyota's TPS, two-second lean, Scaling Up, topgrading), and let results follow. The conversation gets tactical fast: define what done looks like, break work into the next visible step, capture ideas the moment they appear, and review lists by context so the right options surface at the right time.Ready to build a system you trust? Listen now, share it with someone who needs less stress and more momentum, and subscribe for more conversations on making money simple so you can fully live today. If this helped, leave a quick review—it helps others find the show.-----Get to know our guestBob started at Steelcase fresh out of high school in 1988 working on the production line, assembling file cabinets. Stop letting your tax return tell the only story about your money. We invited Rob Cook—CPA, CFP, and seasoned advisor to executives, athletes, and families—to break down how real tax strategy starts with who you are, where you want to go, and the few moves that actually change your outcome. Instead of chasing every trick on the internet, Rob shows why stacking “base hits” creates immediate savings and flexibility, and how to choose one or two “home runs” that fit your strengths. We talk through the crucial difference between a historian CPA who files forms and a strategic partner who looks through the windshield. You'll hear why high-earning W‑2 professionals are not stuck, how accredited status opens meaningful options, and how to avoid complexity that rich headlines can afford but most people can't defend. Rob shares a simple, repeatable process: clarify your goals and constraints, close tax leaks hiding in plain sight, align strategy with life and cash flow, then implement and iterate as your fastball evolves. From HSAs, donor-advised funds, and retirement plan design to QSBS, cost segregation, and real estate professional status, we separate the tools from the hype. You'll learn how to convert personal costs into valid business deductions when facts allow, why lifestyle creep kills deployable capital, and how a personal CFO framework helps you save taxes without sacrificing sanity. The goal is clarity and control: a lighter tax bill, a simpler structure, and more energy for the work and people you love.If you're ready to make money simple and build around your true wealth creation play, this conversation is your blueprint. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs a better plan, and leave a review telling us your top “base hit” to implement this week.-----With over 10 years of experience in accounting and wealth management, Rob has worked with everyone from CEOs and world-class athletes to local families, helping them reduce taxes, build wealth, and achieve financial freedom. In the latest episode of Facts vs Feelings, hosts Ryan Detrick, Chief Market Strategist, and Sonu Varghese, VP, Global Macro Strategist, sit down with Jurrien Timmer, Fidelity's Director of Global Macro, to break down the current cyclical and secular bull markets, how AI compares to past transformative periods, what rising rates have meant for valuations, and why international equities are becoming more attractive. They also touch on the role of gold and Bitcoin, how to think about barbell strategies, and what history teaches about market narratives. Key TakeawaysMarket Setup: Today's environment features a cyclical bull market on top of a long-running secular bull market, similar to past periods like 1994 and the late 1990s.Interest Rates & Valuations: The 2022 market drop came largely from PE compression as rates jumped from near zero to 5%, while earnings actually grew.Historical Parallels: Timmer highlights similarities between today and both the late 1960s (loose fiscal policy, sticky inflation) and late 1990s (tech-driven excitement).Barbell Approach: A mix of mega-cap leaders and undervalued international equities may help manage concentration risk, especially as Europe and Japan boost payouts and trade at lower valuations.Gold & Bitcoin: Timmer views both as scarce, diversifying assets that hedge against periods when bonds may struggle, especially in potential fiscal-dominance environments.Small Caps vs. Large Caps: Small caps show mixed performance due to both traditional domestic exposure and speculative, unprofitable tech tied to AI.Connect with Ryan:• LinkedIn: Ryan Detrick• X: @ryandetrickConnect with Sonu:• LinkedIn: Sonu Varghese• X: @sonusvargheseConnect with Jurrien Timmer:• LinkedIn: Jurrien Timmer• X: @TimmerFidelityQuestions about the show? A son on the brink calls his father from a riverbank and hears an answer he never expected: “I think I have some answers. Trust me.” That moment unlocks a story about real wealth—not assets, but well-being—and the hard, human path to get it back.We sit with Jacob Ford as he traces a line from a split home to two combat deployments, the loss of purpose after service, and a three-year fall into alcohol and opiates that led to five overdoses. The turning point is vulnerable and specific: a ten-day protocol blending NAD amino acid therapy, plant-based medicine, and daily journaling in a quiet West Virginia treehouse, with his dad beside him as he confronted the scared child within. Jacob returns with clarity, love, and a vow to help others find their way home—founding Warrior Tribe Assembly alongside veteran leader Gary Hess.Gary brings the other half of the truth: the weight of moral injury, the limits of a decade of conventional treatments, and why a peer-led container with clinical oversight can change outcomes. He lays out a practical toolkit—breath work, ice baths, meditation, stillness, intention setting—and explains how “soul retrieval” isn't escape, but reconnection. We talk about the entrepreneurs who outrun pain with productivity, the ceilings built by old stories, and how making the unconscious conscious frees us to choose differently. This is not about transcendence; it's integration. It's learning to sit with shame, grief, and fear until they alchemize into agency. If you or someone you love is a veteran, first responder, trauma survivor, or a founder hitting invisible walls, you'll hear both hope and a plan: structure, community, and embodied practices that stabilize and restore choice. Ever wonder why some founders exit with clarity and calm while others get trapped by their own success? We sit down with M&A advisor Brian Goodhart of Capstone Strategic to unpack the real mechanics of selling a mid-market business—what buyers actually value, how timing and structure shape outcomes, and why “someday” is a dangerously vague plan. If your company is your largest asset, this conversation helps you protect it.We go deep on the difference between owning a job and owning a transferable business, the quiet power of clean financials, and building a leadership bench that can run without you. Brian lays out a simple three-phase process—planning and preparation, outreach and engagement, and deal advisory to close—that keeps confidentiality tight, aligns buyer conversations with your priorities, and reduces surprises in diligence. We also break down the “selling equation,” a mix of price, terms, post-close involvement, timing, operational changes, and the personal X-factors that matter to you. Define these early and you invite offers that fit, not just numbers that flatter.Founder fatigue is real, and naming it can save value. We talk openly about burnout, why starting early creates options, and how knowing your “enough” number guides smarter deal structures—from taking some chips off the table to rolling equity for upside. The twist? Preparing to sell often makes the business stronger and more enjoyable, so you may choose not to transact at all. That's the point: optionality. If you want a sale on your terms, or simply a company that runs better now, this is your roadmap. If this resonates, follow and share the show, and leave a review with the one question you still have about selling your business. Your question might shape a future episode.-----About Our Guest:Brian GoodhartCapstone Strategic, Director, M&A Advisory Services8521 Leesburg Pike, Suite 230, Vienna VA 22182bgoodhart@gmail.com717-372-2403www.capstonestrategic.comAs Director of Capstone's M&A Advisory Services, Brian is a proven Growth Engineer experienced in conducting middle-market transactions on both the buy and sell sides. In the latest episode of Facts vs Feelings, Ryan Detrick, Chief Market Strategist, and Sonu Varghese, VP, Global Macro Strategist, hosted a special Halloween livestream featuring Joe Fahmy, Managing Director at Zor Capital, and Warren Pies, Co-Founder and Strategist at 3Fourteen Research. Together they explore what's driving markets at the end of 2025—from AI-led growth and investor sentiment to fiscal spending, oil, and the broader economic outlook. The result is an entertaining and insightful look at how two veteran strategists interpret this bull market and what it could mean heading into 2026 and beyond.Key TakeawaysJoe Fahmy Segment:Broad-Based Bull Market: Joe sees strength well beyond the “Magnificent 7,” with AI, quantum computing, and clean energy creating multiple growth engines.Adaptability Over Bias: He stresses that successful investors aren't perma-bulls or perma-bears. They adapt as the data changes.Technical Discipline: Joe relies on the 50-day moving average to define market health. Above it, stay constructive; below it, get defensive.Cautious Sentiment: He notes that many investors remain nervous, which helps sustain the market's “wall of worry” and supports further upside.AI as the Next Revolution: He predicts the current bull market could extend into 2027 as AI transforms productivity similar to past technological breakthroughs.Warren Pies Segment:Debasement: Warren frames today's cycle as a shift from deflation fears to worries about fiscal expansion, debt, and currency dilution.Equities as Inflation Hedges: He highlights that S&P 500 earnings have outpaced inflation nearly every year since 2009, proving stocks' resilience.Energy Outlook: Warren maintains a bearish view on oil, citing signs of oversupply and weakening global demand.Equity and Yield Outlook: He expects modest but positive stock gains through 2026 as yields drift lower and fiscal support remains steady.Economic View: Warren describes the U.S. economy as being in a “muddle-through slowdown,” with government spending and the wealth effect offsetting recession risks.Joe and Warren are not affiliated with CWM, LLC. What if the word “wealth” never meant money first? We open up the original meaning—well-being—and use it as a compass for healthier families, stronger decisions, and better outcomes. With James E. Hughes Jr. and Rich Christiansen, we unpack why fortunes dissipate, how culture compounds, and where law and leadership can finally serve the humans between the bank accounts. We dive into the universal proverb of “shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves,” reframing it through entropy and agency: you can't defy the physics, but you can choose when. That choice hinges on adding energy—welcoming new members as contributors, developing elders who steward transitions, and creating rites of passage that embed values at critical ages. We explore joint decision making as the core of social capital, practical ways to honor different learning styles, and the Iroquois model of seven-generation thinking and the chief for peace—wisdom that turns meetings into meaningful governance. Then we get pragmatic. What makes a trust actually work for people? Start with two lines: “This trust is a gift of love. This trust exists to enhance the lives of its beneficiaries.” We discuss Delaware's well-being trust, how to avoid founder-dominated “family offices,” and why every serious office needs a Chief Learning Officer to design experiences, not just deliver reports. Finally, we connect capital and conscience: align investments with values to reduce internal friction and build capability that lasts. What if your business could be a vehicle for freedom rather than consuming your life? In this illuminating conversation, Liz Hartke, founder of Luminary Leadership, reveals the transformational shift from "force" to "flow" that has helped countless entrepreneurs escape the treadmill of busyness to create fulfilling businesses. After 14 years helping business owners scale their companies, Liz discovered a universal truth: most entrepreneurs hit ceilings not because of flawed strategies, but because their businesses outgrow their leadership. The solution isn't another marketing tactic or hire – it's unlocking the leader.Through frameworks like the Visionary Matrix, Liz identifies how entrepreneurs get stuck in the "heavy but easy" quadrant – doing work that generates income but feels suffocating and misaligned with their deeper calling. The path forward requires courage to step into the "light but hard" quadrant – activities that energize you despite being challenging.Particularly fascinating is Liz's approach to family integration. Rather than compartmentalizing work and family, she involves her four children in her entrepreneurial journey, making her business their classroom. Her 10-year-old researches with AI, her 8-year-old learns photography, and they host mastermind events in their home. This integration creates powerful learning opportunities while eliminating the soul-draining feeling of being constantly divided between priorities. Most compelling is the revelation that when leaders spend more time in their "sweet spot," business growth accelerates rather than stalls. The average successful entrepreneur spends less than 5% of their time doing what truly energizes them. Increasing this percentage creates a "ripple effect that is divinely orchestrated" – doors open, clarity emerges, and success follows naturally.Whether you're struggling with entrepreneurial burnout or seeking greater alignment between your business and life's calling, this episode offers practical wisdom for making the shift from constant grinding to purposeful flow. Ready to find your "Big Next" and create a business that fuels rather than drains your life? What if the key to your child's educational success isn't found in textbooks or traditional classrooms, but in tapping into what already fascinates them? In this captivating conversation with Connor Boyack, bestselling author of the Tuttle Twins series (which has sold an astonishing 6 million copies), we explore how parents can become more intentional in transmitting values while honoring their children's individuality.Connor shares his powerful "passion-driven education" approach, demonstrating how speaking your child's language—whether that's Dungeons & Dragons, Angry Birds, or anything else they love—creates natural pathways to learning complex concepts. Rather than forcing children to memorize information "just in case" they might need it someday, this method leverages their existing interests to introduce new ideas when they're most receptive. The statistics Connor reveals are eye-opening: one in four Gen Z individuals regret attending college, and only 52% of people work in fields related to their degrees. Through his Praxis program, Children's Entrepreneur Market (reaching over 100,000 kids annually), and other initiatives, Connor is building viable alternatives to traditional education paths—options that develop crucial skills like resourcefulness, critical thinking, and value creation. We dive deep into the tension between family values and individuality, exploring how parents can transmit their beliefs while raising children confident enough to challenge authority—even parental authority. As Connor puts it: "If America is to be saved, it's at the family dinner table," through rebuilding social fabric and encouraging voluntary community building rather than government dependence.Whether you're a parent, grandparent, educator, or simply someone interested in how we prepare the next generation, this episode offers refreshing perspectives on education, entrepreneurship, and intentional parenting. What if your greatest leadership asset isn't another strategy or skill, but an untapped wellspring of wisdom already within you? In this illuminating conversation with integrative executive coach Mara Benner, we explore the revolutionary concept of "inner wealth" - the gold standard for today's visionary leaders. Drawing from her 20+ years of experience working with Fortune 100 executives, Mara reveals how exceptional leadership emerges when we balance our sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous systems. Most high-achievers remain stuck in sympathetic overdrive, pushing harder when facing challenges. Yet as Mara explains, this approach blocks access to our inner guidance system - that intuitive intelligence that Steve Jobs tapped into during his famous two-week meditation retreats before developing groundbreaking products. Through practical techniques like alternative nostril breathing and energy currency tracking, she demonstrates how leaders can access this wellspring of creativity and clarity. The conversation ventures into fascinating territory around shadow integration, seasonal leadership rhythms, and the difference between force and flow in entrepreneurship. We discuss how leaders must learn to distinguish between analytical mind chatter (which excels at execution but keeps us trapped in mental rumination) and the deeper wisdom of intuition that provides unexpected solutions and visionary direction. As we navigate an era of unprecedented change and AI advancement, Mara argues that this inner wealth - not just technical skill - will differentiate exceptional leaders. Her approach isn't about abandoning drive or ambition, but channeling these qualities through inner wisdom instead of ego-driven effort, resulting in sustainable success without burnout.Ready to transform your leadership from the inside out? What if everything you've been told about retirement planning is fundamentally wrong? What if focusing on an arbitrary retirement age is actually preventing you from living your best life right now?In this eye-opening conversation, Scott Ford welcomes Derek Coburn, USA Today bestselling author of "Let's Retire Retirement," who shares a revolutionary financial perspective that could transform how you balance present enjoyment with future security. Through his "Tale of Two Tonys," Derek reveals a shocking mathematical reality: extending your working life by just 10 years could reduce your required monthly savings by up to 96%. This isn't about working forever—it's about recognizing that most people don't actually want decades of complete inactivity and adjusting your financial plan accordingly. The discussion takes a deeply personal turn when Derek shares his "Time Machine Effect," asking what you would pay to travel back in time for one more bedtime routine with your 10-year-old child. Most would gladly write a $50,000 check for such an opportunity, yet we rush through these priceless moments daily. Even more sobering: by the time your children leave for college, you've already spent 93% of the total time you'll ever spend with them. These insights aren't meant to induce guilt but to inspire intentionality about how we allocate our most precious resources—time, energy, and yes, money.Scott and Derek also explore Carl Jung's concept of individuation—becoming who we're truly meant to be—and how traditional retirement planning often works against this essential human journey. Through their candid exchange about making money "clean" and creating business models with fewer conflicts of interest, they offer a refreshing take on financial planning that prioritizes living authentically now rather than postponing fulfillment for some distant future.Whether you're just starting your career or approaching traditional retirement age, this conversation invites you to question your assumptions and consider a more balanced approach to wealth that honors both your future security and your present joy. Listen in and discover how you might be able to redirect resources toward what truly matters—today.Connect with our guest:Derek Coburn, Author, Let's Retire Retirement3511 N Potomac StArlington VA 22213(202) 714-7800Website: https://www.derekcoburn.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/derekcoburn/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/derekcoburnxdc/X: Hear Past episodes of the Way2Wealth Podcast!https://theway2wealth.com Learn more about our Host, Scott Ford, Managing Director, Partner & Wealth Advisorhttps://www.carsonwealth.com/team-members/scott-ford/ Investment advisory services offered through CWM LLC, an SEC-registered investment advisor. Despite growing up with no opportunity to play on girls hockey teams, they did not let that stop them from developing into some of the best players in the state. They attended Shattuck St. Mary's School where they elevated the women's hockey program to national prominence and won three national titles during their high school careers. The Lamoureux twins rewrote the record books at the University of North Dakota, setting nearly every individual record in program history while becoming some of the best players in NCAA history and multiple-time All-Americans during their collegiate careers. During their 15 years on the USA Women's National Team, Monique and Jocelyne rose to become two of the all-time greats in women's hockey, winning one Olympic gold medal, two Olympic silver medals, six world championships and one world championship runner-up, along with multiple individual awards and accolades. They are USA Hockey Hall of Fame inductees and 2nd and 3rd youngest North Dakota natives to be given the Teddy Roosevelt Award in the State of North Dakota. Their most important victories have come off the ice in their fight for gender equity for women in hockey and sports. They were key leaders in negotiating Team USA's first-ever contract that provided more opportunities, compensation and benefits for women and girls who play hockey in America. They continue to give back to the state of North Dakota through the Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux Foundation, which helps serve underprivileged youth. They have inspired a generation to dream big, but most importantly their legacy will be about making a difference in people's lives as they strive toward those dreams.
