In this Com d'Archi, discover ‘à la carte' housing, a concept developed by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX Architectes (PPX) for its Philippe de Girard project, in Paris. A text written by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX Architectes and read by Esther.Cédric Petitdidier and Vincent Prioux created PETITDIDIERPRIOUX Architects (PPX) in 2004. They won their first competition at the age of just twenty-four, on the theme "How will you live tomorrow?". Some thirty projects later, PPX has received international recognition through numerous awards, the most recent of which being the Architizer A+AWARDS, 'Best Residential Firm' 2022. The agency has developed its own expertise in the field of housing, relying on a 'convivial density' to make individual and collective housing cohabit, including high-rise buildings. Their questioning revolves around: how to live together without sacrificing the intimacy of a home? What makes a home?For the housing project on rue Philippe de Girard, PPX proposed an innovative approach to give the inhabitants a great deal of freedom in the configuration of their homes. The floors are open-plan thanks to a central core for fluids connection and a structural facade with double-skin allowing maximum luminosity. The inhabitants could then personnalise their homes, choosing how to divide the floors according to their needs. Les projets s'étendent de la France jusqu'à Moscou. PPX a développé de nombreux concepts en logement intermédiaire, notamment celui de maison-plateau — une maison individuelle en habitat collectif. Comment vivre ensemble sans sacrifier l'intimité d'un foyer ? Qu'est-ce qui fait une maison ? Comment travailler le rapport à l'espace public, au seuil ? Au delà des défis techniques, sociaux et environnementaux, PPX s'autorisent à penser les enjeux théoriques. C'est la partie non-bâtie du projet — la vie, les familles, le foyer — une sculpture qui devient une architecture. C'est aussi ce qui influence positivement la ville.Leur but est d'inscrire une démarche innovante dans un contexte réaliste, trouver le lien entre les choses, mettre le bon matériau au bon endroit. Abstract: Impulse control disorders (ICDs), a wide spectrum of maladaptive behavior which includes pathological gambling, hypersexuality and compulsive buying, have been recently suggested to be triggered or aggravated by treatments with dopamine D2/3 receptor agonists, such as pramipexole (PPX). Despite evidence showing that impulsivity is associated with functional alterations in corticostriatal networks, the neural basis of the exacerbation of impulsivity by PPX has not been elucidated. Here we used a hotspot analysis to assess the functional recruitment of several corticostriatal structures by PPX in male rats identified as highly impulsive (HI) or with low levels of impulsivity (LI) in the 5-choice serial reaction time task (5-CSRTT). PPX dramatically reduced impulsivity in HI rats. Assessment of the expression pattern of the two immediate early genes C-fos and Zif268 by in situ hybridization subsequently revealed that PPX resulted in a decrease in Zif268 mRNA levels in different striatal regions of both LI and HI rats accompanied by a high impulsivity specific reduction of Zif268 mRNA levels in the prelimbic and cingulate cortices. PPX also decreased C-fos mRNA levels in all striatal regions of LI rats, but only in the dorsolateral striatum and nucleus accumbens core (NAc Core) of HI rats. Structural equation modelling further suggested that the anti-impulsive effect of PPX was mainly attributable to the specific downregulation of Zif268 mRNA in the NAc Core. Altogether, our results show that PPX restores impulse control in highly impulsive rats by modulation of limbic frontostriatal circuits. Copy rights belong to original authors. This is the one we have been teasing for the last several weeks. The guys had the opportunity to chat with Oris North America CEO, VJ Geronimo. VJ was kind enough to send us the Oris ProPilot X (PPX) and the Oris Divers 65 Chrono (with bronze bezel) to review, and both of those feature in this episode (although the reviews will be up soon on OUR NEW WEBSITE!). In his ten years at the helm of Oris North America, VJ mentioned that the biggest trend in the industry has been the strengthening of the community in recent years. With several websites, blogs, instagram influencers, and of course, podcasts entering the fold. They are one of the few larger Swiss brands that is able to have conversations like this on a regular basis, and we applaud that sense of independence from Oris.We also talk about the new release that is out today, the Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, a new version of the Aquis GMT, which you can also read about on Zeitzwatches.com. From there, the conversation heads towards the independence of Oris as a brand. The two watches we have on loan could not be more different. The Divers 65 line highlights pieces from Oris's past, following the vintage trend of the last several years and is one of the best executions of a vintage feeling modern watch (that BRACELET!). The PPX, with its openworked dial and in-house manual wind movement, showcases what the future could hold for Oris, and VJ hinted briefly that if you like that direction (which we do) we should like some of the other new items that Oris is coming out with this year. The guys also make a few "requests" of dream combinations of Oris watches, some of which are rather interesting.This was such a fun conversation, and it was excellent to have the opportunity to speak with VJ who could not have been more kind to come on the show. We are ALL looking forward to the day we can all get together at a Redbar meet-up and do this again in person!
