Today Chris and Daniel recap episode 9 of MARVEL's What If...? This episode is titled "What If... the Watcher Broke His Oath?" Summary: The Watcher recruits Strange-Supreme, Captain Carter, Star-Lord T'Challa, "Party" Thor, Black Panther Killmonger, and a Gamora variant who killed Thanos[a] from their respective universes to battle Ultron. Ultron confronts them in a universe lacking intelligent life, where T'Challa steals the Soul Stone. Strange teleports in a zombie horde, including Wanda Maximoff, who Ultron overpowers. The team goes to Ultron's home universe, meeting Natasha Romanoff. Ultron follows, restarting the battle, where Gamora's Infinity Crusher device fails to destroy the Infinity Stones as they are from a different universe. Carter helps Romanoff shoot Ultron with an arrow containing Arnim Zola's mind. Zola wipes Ultron's mind and takes over Ultron's body. Killmonger steals the Infinity Stones for himself, but Zola fights him over them. Strange and the Watcher seal Killmonger and Zola in a pocket dimension, which Strange agrees to watch over. The Watcher returns Strange, Carter, T'Challa, Gamora, and Thor to their respective universes. Romanoff refuses to return to hers, so the Watcher brings her to one in which the Avengers candidates were assassinated,[b] where she helps defeat Loki. In a mid-credits scene, Carter and her universe's Romanoff discover the Hydra Stomper armor with someone inside.

To take care of others we first need to take care of our-selves. Yet dentists rarely take time off for themselves when they need it. How can we do our best work when sick? Dr Annalene Weston is well known for her work in Burnout and Mental Health for dentists and it is our pleasure to have her on the What I wish I Knew podcast again to share something she sees dentists making the mistake of time and time again, not taking care of yourself. The concept of the Third Space resonated strongly with me as did much of what she had to say in this episode. I hope you take as much from this as I did. Join Mike Taber, Eric Blanc, Lars Lih, and Anne McShane for a book launch celebrating the release of Under the Socialist Banner: Resolutions of the Second International, 1889–1912, edited by Taber. Recent years have seen a massive growth of interest in socialism, particularly among young people. But few are fully aware of socialism's revolutionary history. For this reason, an appreciation of the Second International—often called the “Socialist International”—during its Marxist years is particularly relevant. What is the record of the Second International in its Marxist years? What is its legacy, and what lessons does it offer for today? These and other questions will be discussed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Order a Copy of Under the Socialist Banner: https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1649-under-the-socialist-banner --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eric Blanc is the author of Red State Revolt: The Teachers' Strike Wave and Working-Class Politics and Revolutionary Social Democracy: Working-Class Politics Across the Russian Empire, 1882-1917. Lars T. Lih is an independent scholar who lives in Montreal. He is the author of Bread and Authority in Russia, 1914-1921, co-author of Stalin's Letters to Molotov , author of Lenin Rediscovered: What Is to Be Done? In Context , and co-editor, with Ben Lewis, of Zinoviev and Martov: Head to Head in Halle . He has also authored a short biography entitled Lenin . At present, he is working on a study of the 1917 revolution that brings out the overlooked role of consensus and continuity in the Bolshevik outlook. Mike Taber is the editor of Under the Socialist Banner: Resolutions of the Second International, 1889–1912. He has edited and prepared a number of other books related to the history of revolutionary and working-class movements—from collections of documents of the Communist International under Lenin to works by figures such as Leon Trotsky, Malcolm X, and Che Guevara. Anne McShane has been involved in Marxist politics for over 30 years. She has a particular interest in the struggle for women's emancipation within socialist projects and has completed a PhD on the role of the Zhenotdel (Women's Department of the CPSU) in Soviet Central Asia. Often business moves in ways they didn't predict when we spoke a couple of years ago. And we're doing it again this week. Chris Orzechowski is our guest for this episode of the Copywriter Club podcast, and as you'll see Chris has a very different business than the one he talked about when we interviewed him before. Rob:  But before we jump into this interview, this podcast is sponsored by the Copywriter Think Tank, that's our mastermind for copywriters and other marketers who want to think outside the box. Wow, we're using a cliché to talk about thinking outside the box, that's so inside the box. But, if you want to build new offers and revenue streams in your business, then the Copywriter Think Tank is the kind of place that might just be for you. So Kira, you asked me this last week, I'm going to ask you, why do you think the think tank helps copywriters experience real results? Kira:  Yeah. What comes to my mind first is that we help copywriters go from feeling like a business owner and acting like a business owner and thinking like a business owner to feeling, thinking, acting like an entrepreneur. And we've talked about this frequently with our accelerator program where you can shift from a freelancer mindset to a business owner mindset. But once we're in the think tank, and we're working very closely with the copywriters in that room and they're surrounded by 25 other copywriters who are ambitious and building businesses and restructuring models and figuring out how to do it in a way that works for them,

Today Chris and Daniel recap episode 7 of MARVEL's What If...? This episode is titled "What If... Thor Were an Only Child?" Summary: After defeating the Frost Giants, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odin_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Odin) discovers the abandoned infant Loki and returns him to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laufey_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Laufey). Years later, Odin's son Thor has become a boisterous, party-loving prince. While Odin sleeps and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigga_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Frigga) is away, Thor travels to Earth to host a large party with aliens from across the galaxy. His arrival attracts the attention of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Foster_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Jane Foster) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darcy_Lewis (Darcy Lewis), who join the party. As Thor and Foster grow close, acting S.H.I.E.L.D. director https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Hill_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Maria Hill) summons Carol Danvers to end the destruction caused by Thor's antics. Danvers is unable to defeat Thor without exerting her full power, so Lewis and Hill suggest she take the fight to a less populated area while Foster contacts Frigga with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heimdall_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Heimdall)'s help. Hill readies a nuclear strike while Danvers and Thor begin to battle again, but Frigga contacts them and says she is coming. Thor and the party-goers clean up the mess before she arrives. Later, Thor asks Foster on a date but is interrupted by an army of drones, led by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultron_(Marvel_Cinematic_Universe) (Ultron) in Vision's body and wielding all six Infinity Stones.

How would you like a Facebook ad formula that works? Yes, please, right?! No matter if you're brand new to paid advertising, only thinking about it, but haven't done any yet, or you're a veteran but have noticed a huge change (for the worse) recently, listen to this episode. It will help you think about thinks in a way that makes it far less mysterious. When I first began running ads I would have loved to have a Facebook ads formula. I was fortunate enough to have access to a mastermind group and expert resources to begin. This is one area few personal trainers or gyms feel good about. There is always the question of whether or not you're spending too much, not enough, and what to change or test to get better results. This episode will help you identify a plan. My Guest: Jono is an award-winning international speaker, bestselling author, podcast host, the co-founder and director at Fitness Education Online and the admin of the one of the largest Facebook Groups in the world for Fitness Professionals (Fitness Education Online Community). Jono is the current Fitness Australia Educator of the Year and a former Exercise New Zealand Educator of the Year Finalist. Questions we cover in this episode: How much spend for a 1 million revenue from an ad? Is Facebook still a viable advertising source? How has Facebook advertising changed? To listeners overwhelmed with the idea of setting up Facebook ads, you say? Where does a listener start? What about the difference in boosting posts vs using Ads Manager? What is the perfect Facebook Ads formula? Facebook Ads for Fitness & Health Pro Example from the show Initial investment = initial sale $500 ad spend $10 leads Close rate 10% $500 cost of program (start of customer value) Zero percent of local businesses run effective Facebook ads. -Jono Petrohilos Formula for $5 leads Photo – small group of people all smiling and having fun after the workout No: no smiles, working out/working hard, exercise photos, too professional, really fit and good looking Headline – mention the suburb, Copy – challenges work, 6-12 weeks, urgency e.g. 12-week challenge kicks off 8th of August TOWN location. Click for more. Lead Generator Ad (no website required) Targeting – no interests required, distance/age/gender keep below 150,000 people for a small radius There you have it, the perfect Facebook ads formula for health & fitness professionals Connect with Jono: www.fitnesseducationonline.com.au FB Group: www.facebook.com/groups/fitnesseducationonline IG: www.instagram.com/fitnesseducationonline Through Sept 30. Join Deepa Kumar, Noura Erakat, Naomi Klein, Jasbir Puar, and Keenaga-Yamahtta Taylor to discuss Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire. In Islamophobia and the Politics of Empire, leading scholar Deepa Kumar traces the history of Islamophobia from the 16th century to the “War on Terror.” In the twenty years since 9/11, she writes, Islamophobia has functioned in the United States both as a set of coercive policies and as a body of ideas that take various forms: liberal, conservative, and rightwing. This particular form of bigotry continues to have horrific consequences not only for people in Muslim-majority countries who become the targets of an endless War on Terror, but for Muslims and those who “look Muslim” in the West as well. Importantly, Kumar contends that Islamophobia is not simply religious intolerance or the reaction of an empire in crisis; it must be recognized instead as racism—the kind that manifests in mass surveillance, arbitrary arrests, and deportation, much like other forms of centuries-old systemic racism. And this anti-Muslim racism in turn sustains empire. Episode No. 515 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features curator Betsy Kornhauser and art historian Aaron M. Hyman. Along with Shannon Vittoria, Kornhauser is the co-curator of "Jules Tavernier and the Elem Pomo" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibition examines the cultural interchange within Tavernier's Dance in a Subterranean Roundhouse at Clear Lake, California (1878), which the Met acquired in 2016, and the Elem Pomo portrayed within it. It also complicates Tavernier's picture and oeuvre by examining his other representations of Indigenous life as well as his engagement with the international banking and mining interests that developed the Clear Lake site and region represented in this picture, much of which had been made toxic by borax and mercury extraction. The exhibition is on view in New York through November 28 before traveling to the de Young Museum in San Francisco. It is accompanied by an issue of the Met Bulletin that includes contributions from Elem Pomo cultural leader and regalia maker Robert Joseph Geary. The Bulletin is not available via the web, but it may be purchased for $14.95 at the Met or via phone by calling 212-570-3894 and asking for item number 80054339. (A later MAN Podcast segment will focus on the Pomo material within the exhibition.) On the second segment, Hyman discusses his new book Rubens in Repeat: The Logic of the Copy in Colonial Latin America. It examines the impact Peter Paul Rubens's prints had on art in Spanish colonies in the Americas, and how artists in the New World came to deviate from Rubens's constructions to build a new art history. Hyman teaches art history at Johns Hopkins University. Rubens in Repeat is published by the Getty Research Institute and Getty Publications, and will be available next month. Indiebound and Amazon offer it for about $70.

Peiwar Kotal was the site of a battle in late 1878, between British forces under Sir Frederick Roberts (1832–1914), who outmaneuvered Afghan forces under an unknown commander.* CBS Eye on the World with John Batchelor CBS Audio Network @Batchelorshow Five foreign policy lessons not learned in Afghanistan debacle. A young boy is perched atop the pile; he leans against a huge bass drum and sits on a fur-lined sheepskin coat, called a poostin in Dari. He is surrounded by an assortment of military items that were abandoned during the battle or removed from the bodies of slain soldiers. They include swords and scimitars of both British and Afghan design, scabbards, rifles, and a helmet in the center. The Second Anglo-Afghan War began in November 1878 when Great Britain, fearful of what it saw as growing Russian influence in Afghanistan, invaded the country from British India. The first phase of the war ended in May 1879 with the Treaty of Gandamak, which permitted the Afghans to maintain internal sovereignty but forced them to cede control over their foreign policy to the British. Fighting resumed in September 1879, after an anti-British uprising in Kabul, and finally concluded in September 1880 with the decisive Battle of Kandahar. The album includes portraits of British and Afghan leaders and military personnel, portraits of ordinary Afghan people, and depictions of British military camps and activities, structures, landscapes, and cities and towns. The sites shown are all located within the borders of present-day Afghanistan or Pakistan (a part of British India at the time). About a third of the photographs were taken by John Burke (circa 1843–1900), another third by Sir Benjamin Simpson (1831–1923), and the remainder by several other photographers. Some of the photographs are unattributed. The album possibly was compiled by a member of the British Indian government, but this has not been confirmed. How it came to the Library of Congress is not known..
