This week on aBlogtoWatchWeekly, Rick, Ariel, and Ripley launch the show with thevestigial clap-in and get right to the hot topics of the week: Watches &Wonders, of course, and the many varying views on Trump's tariffs and howthey'll affect the watch industry. But first, Ripley puts in a plug for betterswag at the event next year. Underwear and socks would be awesome! He ran outof clean shirts before his flight home, so he was ever-so-grateful for abrand-new Oris t-shirt. And Doxa gave out passport covers so Americans couldobscure their identities — score! Rick asks the rapidly devaluing 64k question:What is the collective sound a gaggle of watch executives makes the day aftertariffs are announced? Ariel observes that already very high prices were apre-emptive strike among said execs, who'll just absorb these new costs. Davidarrives, wondering where the convo is at, and he commiserates on the swagissue. Post-W&W decompression has obviously been needed (folks are giddy!),but the guys DO get down to talking about actual watches — first, through thedoor of Ariel's parallels with The Brutalist. You'll simply have tolisten to understand this one. Rick scrolls down the list of 60 brands featuredat the show, and they proceed to talk about Chanel, Chronoswiss, Bell &Ross, Nomos, U-Boat, Norqain, and more. You'll have to click through to findout whether the news is good or bad.

Established and up-and-coming brands alike are making some compelling new four-figure watches, and there are even more choices available if you consider the used watch market. While many "affordable luxury" brands like Longines, Frederique Constant, Oris and Zodiac are doing genuinely cool stuff these days, in this article I'll focus on "true" luxury watches from premium brands like Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko and Breitling. If you like what you're listening to please let us know! Do you want to work with us on a timepiece? email us support@chriswarnes.com In this video, I'll share my personal picks for the best timepieces available around the $2,000 mark. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just getting started, these watches offer great quality, style, and wrist presence without breaking the bank. Here's the breakdown: 1. Tudor Black Bay M79540 Available in several dials, though the black dial is a standout for me. Slight resemblance to the iconic Submariner, but with its own unique character. At 41mm, it's a great size that's noticeable but not overpowering. Priced right around $2,000 on the secondary market. 2. TAG Heuer Formula 1 Date (WAZ2011) A classic with a deep connection to motorsports history. Bold wrist presence with a 43mm case size, larger than the Tudor. Easily recognizable design and available new for a bit over $2,000; used models can be found for less. 3. Oris Aquis Date (01 733 7789) Featuring a striking green dial and matching rubber strap. At 43.5mm, it's an eye-catching piece; Oris nails this shade of green. An underrated model from a brand that deserves more attention. 4. Breitling Endurance Pro Available in a range of colors and options, with sizes in both 44mm and 38mm (targeted at women). Powered by "Super Quartz," so keep in mind it's not automatic. Lightweight and great for sports or gym wear; priced around $2,000 new on the secondary market, and even lower pre-owned. 5. Omega Seamaster (2850.5) A vintage, mid-80s automatic model with a 50mm case. Omega has a long history of quality with the Seamaster line, making this a solid option if you can find one in good condition. These watches offer style, history, and a solid build at a relatively affordable price for luxury. Let me know in the comments which of these you'd pick or if there are others you'd recommend in this price range! Get your Dominate Your Day Book https://chriswarnes.com/book/

This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Rolf Studer, Co-CEO of Oris, for a conversation recorded live at the Windup Watch Fair in New York City over the weekend. Oris has been an important partner and supporter of the Windup Watch Fair for years, so it was rewarding to see them choose the opening of Windup as the launch platform for their latest release, the new Divers Date. The Divers Date is an evolution of the Divers Sixty-Five, which itself is one of the most important enthusiast focused watches of the last decade, helping to usher in the era of vintage inspired reinterpretations that have dominated the watch space. Now, with the Divers Date, Oris has made a series of small changes to modernize the look and feel of the watch, giving it some subtle refinements that will appeal to a whole new crop of enthusiasts. In this conversation, Rolf and Zach talk about the history of the Divers Sixty-Five, how Oris goes about planning for a launch like this, and the importance of the enthusiast community. Before that, Zach is joined by Kyle Snarr, Worn & Wound's Head of Partnerships, for a quick conversation about the just completed Windup Watch Fair, including some favorite moments and discoveries from a fair unlike any before it. For those who missed it, we'll be showing you more photos and video footage from the fair soon, but until then we hope you enjoy this quick recap and a great conversation with Rolf Studer. To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast — now available on all major platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Spotify, and more. Welcome to another episode of Fratello On Air! This week, we discuss the increasing number of movement production claims and wonder whether it all really matters. In-house, in-house designed, and third-party are only some explanations we hear about movements and their origin. It's gotten a bit nutty! For our listeners, there's horology content interspersed initially, but fast-forward to 23 minutes for uninterrupted watch talk.Do you remember when life was simple and watch movements were in-house or off-the-shelf? It was never the case, it's that we didn't care so much. Or, we weren't told to care. Now, we have a veritable buffet of descriptions for how a caliber ended up in a watch case. It's all too much now and in the end, does anyone give a rip? We're not so sure.HandgelenkskontrolleThis week, we kick off our episode on in-house and other descriptions for movements with a load of banter. Balazs discusses his time at a Turkish airport. Mike mentions a friend who purchased a gray market Rolex Submariner Date in London and how demand is alive and well. Then, both hosts failed in their quest to purchase the recent Travis Scott Nike shoes (Mike was trying for Balazs). Finally, Mike has had it with snarky, know-it-all commenters who want gold stars. For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing his Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz reference 17000. Balazs is wearing the cool new Nivada Grenchen Chronoking Mecaquartz Interchangeable Bezel. Stay tuned for an upcoming review here on Fratello!In-house, designed by, made by, whatever!Recently, Mike reviewed the new Norqain Independence Skeleton Chrono models. There was nothing wrong with the watches, but the movements were peculiar with in-house design and production at AMT. It got us thinking, do people really care about in-house, in-house designed, or off-the-shelf? We discuss the topic. You'll hear about mighty Rolex and the brand's purchase of Aegler, its longtime exclusive outside movement manufacturer. We mention Oris and question whether their in-house strategy has been helpful to sales. We hope you enjoyed today's episode and thank you for listening!
