It's Mike Bubbins' turn to escape the archive. He's a Welsh comic who has carved out a great little space in the scene as “the comic who does the seventies”. His fringe show forom 2017 is quintessential Bubbins, as he looks back at the seventies, what made it great, and what we can learn from it intoday's world. He's continued that mix of cultural time travel in his 2021 TV series Mamoth, where he plays “Tony Mammoth, a Welsh PE teacher, missing presumed dead in an avalanche in the Alps in 1979 whose body is found and miraculously bought back to life in the modern day.” But now, we always say we return to the Fringe, and here it's a return to the Fringe of 2017, to return to the 70s, via The Assembly Rooms, and Mike Bubbins' Retrosexual Male.

Mike Bubbins is a good bloke, a good husband and a good Dad, but he never quite feels like he fits in. Not in an odd way, he's keen to point out. It's just he dresses like he lives in the 70s, his house looks like a 70s film set, and he drives a 70s Ford Cortina. So yeah, in other words, in an odd way. He's not done bad for a lad who failed his A-Levels, became a PE teacher (see 'failed his A-levels'), worked as an Elvis impersonator, and then signed up for a writing course but got the wrong day and turned up for a stand-up comedy course instead. Because it was raining, and his wife had already dropped him off, he decided he might as well stay. Eleven years later, he presents his debut Radio 4 show. We've all been through a lot, emotionally and psychologically, with the extraordinary events of the pandemic. In the middle of the biggest crisis the world has witnessed since the war, we all had to assess who we were, what our priorities were, what our core relationships are and how robust they really are. Luckily, Bubbins isn't interested in any of that. He wasn't even involved in the pandemic. Because he lives in the 70s. In this 2019 interview, we sat down with 'Retrosexual' Anthony Greene and Josh Briggs to discuss an array of different topics. This was our first time meeting after conducting individual interviews with both of them a couple of years ago. Their careers have undergone such dramatic changes and all for the better. In the case of Greene gone are the days of his being 'All Good' and in its place is a persona that is all great with the Retrosexual. After their participation in the second annual Smash Wrestling The Northern tournament, Greene, and Briggs discussed the changes they have both experienced. Both Greene and Briggs are active members of the EVOLVE roster. This is coupled with them continuing to forge a trail for themselves all over North America. For Green and Briggs, this was before both men would face each other at EVOLVE's Anniversary event on the WWE network. We discussed the belief and mindset of wrestling purists and how those aren't necessarily reflected by everyone today. Both men speak both highly AEW's Sonny Kiss and how recent criticism he faced by one individual. Kiss' toughness became a talking point as both Greene and Briggs supported him as a competitor and a friend. Anthony Greene and Josh Briggs remain calm and cool on this night. of competition as part of Smash Wrestling's The Northern tournament.
