A lot has happened in the world of wrestling, and we will catch you fans up on all of it next week! Today, we are wrapping up WCW month here on the Creative Team with one of the more controversial Take it up with Creatives known to man! The formation of the NWO is by far the greatest story ever told in WCW. It had a beginning that shook the foundation of the industry and a pay-off that changed the business forever! Hulk Hogan turning heel in 1996 will forever be one of the most pivotal moments in wrestling history, and it will never be replicated, and it can never be changed. UNTIL TODAY! That's right! What would The Creative Team do differently? Find out now!
Sixty Men... Three Rings... Three Giants... One Battle Royal! That was the tagline for the very first ever World War 3 event for WCW in 1995. It was not great, but it was unique and it drew a pretty good sized house in Virginia. Johnny B. Badd (not shockingly) opens the show against DDP for the TV Title and it tests the Diamond Doll's allegiances. The All Japan women are in tag-team action that puts what the WWF did a month earlier to shame. Big Bubba Rogers and Jim Duggan face off in a Taped Fist match (yes, really), Sting takes on Ric Flair in a forgotten match-up, and Lex Luger faces an injured "Macho Man" Randy Savage. In the main event, we've got 3 rings, 3 commentary teams, 60 men, 3 giants, and 1 winner. However, the finish was marred with controversy and you'll see why. Let's just say that it makes the babyface Hulk Hogan look like a giant douche. In the news, we discuss one of Vince McMahon's lawyers being investigated by the FBI, WCW and NJPW's working relationship possibly coming to an end, Sabu's surprise return to ECW, and much more! linktr.ee/MainEventMarks Learn more about your ad choices. Just 6 days after Survivor Series 1991, we've got a shortened show titled This Tuesday in Texas. The Undertaker was only 1 year into his WWF run when he defeated the goose that laid the golden eggs, Hulk Hogan, to become WWF Champion on Taker's 1 year anniversary (with the help of Ric Flair). Now, he's the defending champion against The Hulkster. "Macho Man" Randy Savage also looks for revenge on the evil snake man, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, who had been making Savage and Miss Elizabeth's lives a living Hell for months, including crashing their wedding reception and having a cobra bite Macho Man. Bret Hart also takes on Skinner, the British Bulldog does battle with the Warlord, and Repo Man teams with Ted DiBiase against Virgil and El Matador to continue "The Million Dollar Man's" feud with his former "servant." This show took place on December 3, 1991, at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. The event was an attempt by the WWF to establish Tuesday as a secondary pay-per-view night. Lukewarm reaction and a disappointing 1.0 buyrate rendered the experiment a failure, and the company shelved its plans until October 2004, when it held Taboo Tuesday. linktr.ee/MainEventMarks Learn more about your ad choices. With Shocktober behind us, I must admit that I'm a little relieved that our non-stop horror movie marathon has come to an end. Don't get me wrong, I love Shocktober as much as the next guy, but thirty one straight days of nothing but horror films is bound to wear anyone down just a little bit. Thankfully, we here at Apocalypse Video happen to have a super computer named C.H.A.D. that can recommend fantastic films based on hyper advanced algorithms that will satisfy even the most jaded of movie watchers. That said, even hyper intelligent supercomputers can have off days… I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we leave the horrors of Shocktober behind for the greener pastures of 90s action comedies are fellow cinephiles and Hulkamaniacs Mike and Ryan. Topics of discussion in this episode include the downward trajectory of Hulk Hogan's film career; we talk about how WWE is basically SNL for wrestlers (aka: up and coming actors); and finally, we break down Suburban Commando's trailer and how a 90s trope became one of our favorite one liners in all of cinema. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com. Got a movie you'd like us to watch? Hit us up and we'll talk about it on the show! That'll do it for this week's episode, folks. From all of us here at Apocalypse Video we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and that hopefully the film we discussed on the show didn't ruin the holiday with its overall crappiness. Cya next week, brother!!!

EPISODE 282 - Bryan Mitchell - Stay on the Path, Avoid the Shiny Things And The Root of The ProblemThe hardest thing I've ever done is share a piece of my soul with others. It makes me feel vulnerable. Like a thief who just got spotted by the police with his pants down. Can't run away now. Gotta face whatever judgement awaits. That's how I feel when I share my stories. I cringe like a baby tasting a lemon and look at the reader all weird, hoping they want more. While I cringe, eye twitching, neck straining, there's one thing that holds me together and that is the truth. Like me. Love me. Hate me. It's not my decision. The important thing is the olive branch that I've extended. I'm trying to connect with you and honored you're making the effort to hear me out. This is what story telling is. It's who we are. It's how we connect and grow together. If you happen to look up at me while reading and see a ghastly face trembling like Hulk Hogan waking up from a bearhug, just know, I'm happy you gave me the opportunity, pal, and I encourage you to pass along the olive branch to others in your life because we all need to make ourselves vulnerable to be real. We've all written terrible prose. We've all fallen short of Shakespeare. Forgive yourself and others for those wordy sentences and write the good write. Sorry, I can't end with that. Let's simmer it down a little. I have a short story you can read for free if you sign up for my newsletter. It is called No Place Like Home. My debut novel, Infernal Fall, will be out in October of 2022. All subscribers will get updates on that and more. Hope you stick around. Episode 835 has the fallout from AEW Full Gear, including the most violent match I think I've ever seen, and Will Ospreay as the major new signing Tony Khan was talking about. I've been seeing a lot of comments about Ospreay not being a "mainstream star", as if this is somehow the criteria now for judging pro wrestling signings, until you realize there's actually a very simple reason for it, and it's pathetic (as are the people who peddle it). Plus, news on Ronda Rousey's status with AEW/ROH after this week... details on the Continental Classic, what's at stake with AEW doing its own version of a Triple Crown and why it's not as prestigious as Tony Khan makes it out to be... WWE said to have interest in signing New Japan Pro Wrestling's biggest star and one of the best in the world... Cody Rhodes responds to the idea of The Rock taking his spot at Wrestlemania 40... WWE SURVIVOR SERIES WAR GAMES PREDICTIONS... even more news on reported roster and production cuts coming for the NWA and Billy Corgan responds... Nick Hogan arrested on suspicion of DUI... and YOUR QUESTIONS on Raw and Smackdown going head to head on TV, possible names for next year's WWE Hall of Fame class in Philadelphia, and would the NWO have been the success it was with someone other than Hulk Hogan revealed as the third man?***Follow Solomonster on Twitter for news and opinion:http://www.twitter.com/solomonsterSubscribe to the Solomonster Sounds Off on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSolomonster?sub_confirmation=1Become a Solomonster Sounds Off Channel Member:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9jcg7mk93fGNqWPMfl_Aig/joinThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5582990/advertisement
On the 44th episode of the 24 Inch Podcast, Steve Bennett and Dave Rowlands take a deep dive into the night of matches at Madison Square Garden on 01-23-1989. On this night of wrestling, Hulk Hogan faces the Big Boss Man in a match for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. At the top, Steve, Paula, and Dave are together to kick off the show with some talk about parent/teacher conferences, thanksgiving traditions, and a game that Paula and Steve play that involves golden era wrestlers and a fictitious prom. After the break, Paula goes rogue and delivers a Taylor Swift bit she had planned. After that madness, the guys give their personal memories of being inside Madison Square Garden. Also, Steve and Dave give the bio of the late, great Big Boss Man. Last, Dave tells us what the Hulkster was up to in Janyary of 1989. Steve reads the news from January of 1989 while Dave cracks wise and adds his thoughts on a month filled with award shows, football playoffs, and international diplomacy. Steve and Dave break down the entire card from the 01-23-89 house show at Madison Square Garden. On the card is a polarizing tag match between the Brain Busters and The Rockers, a clinic by Ted DiBiase, and a bump-lovers dream featuring Mr. Perfect. Finally, Steve and Dave break down the huge main event of Hulk Hogan vs. Big Boss Man for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. Also on this episode, Steve, Paula, and Dave read listener emails and comments from our facebook page and announce the topic for the 45th episode of the podcast.
