On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we wrap up our four-part series, Sound Minds. Back in March, Michelle Bacon conducted a survey about musicians dealing with mental health issues. Over 160 musicians did the survey and for the past four weeks, Bacon has been co-hosting the show and guiding a conversation about the survey findings. She's also offered up numerous options from organizations and places that provide affordable (and perhaps free) care for people in need. In addition to Bacon sharing her findings and data, we have also been playing music from musicians and sharing the story behind the song, dealing with mental health. This week on the show we'll hear from Kirsten Paludan, Molly Picture Club, Mac Lethal, and Phoebe Bridgers. We'll also be hearing music, and the story behind it from these musicians with upcoming gigs:Sam Wells, playing Thursday for Folk Alliance International's Finest Folk showcase at Lemonade Park, along with The Matchsellers and Lyal StricklandTeri Quinn of True Lions, playing Friday at The Black Box with Sam Wells and Blue False IndigoNate Allen of Good Saint Nathanael, playing at recordBar on Saturday with Mr. Golden Sun, and Blue False IndigoAddie Sartino of The Greeting Committee, playing Loud & Local at E.H. The coronavirus pandemic’s impact on our health care system may be seen in more ways than in how we manage people with COVID-19. Since March, routine care, scheduled surgeries and wellness exams have been put mostly on hold or done via teleconference. Primary care physicians are at the front lines of care and can help identify issues before they develop into something more serious. Hosts Maiken Scott of WHYY in Philadelphia and Brian Ellison of KCUR in Kansas City discuss what the future of health care may look like. Will physicians rely more on telemedicine? How will this affect the future of the medical profession? What should patients expect of their physicians? You'll hear from: Dr. Neda Frayha, internist and primary care physician in Baltimore; Shantell Williams, recent Truman Medical Center patient; Dr. Catricia Tilford, Pediatrician at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Clinic; and Raina Merchant, Director of Penn Medicine Center for Digital Health.

This week, we spoke with the CEO of KC CARE Health Center, Wil Franklin, about how patients can access care through Telehealth and how KC CARE Health Center is operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. Franklin said there have been a lot of changes, but the goal for KC CARE Health Center is to continue to provide quality care to the community. Telehealth service has been ramped up in response to the stay-at-home order, allowing individuals to see a doctor with their smartphone, computer, or tablet. Recently, KC Care Health Center, alongside Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Swope Health Services, and and other Missouri community Health centers, received millions in COVID-19 response grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).What follows is a conversation with KC Care CEO Wil Franklin regarding the grant and how KC Care continues to serve patients in the community.
