Continuing our series on Discipleship, Brother Hughes teaches on The way of the cross. Not way as in a path or direction, but way as in a mindset and methodology. Our text is counterintuitive to what we would expect would lead to a better way of life. The idea of bearing our cross is daunting. Bearing a cross may involve thorns. It will undoubtedly involve death. It will also involve love for others. Jesus tells the disciples that they must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Those three things are connected. They are tied together with AND, not OR. Being a true disciple requires all three. God does not take pleasure in our stuffing or self-denial. We must do these things to condition our bodies and make them more prepared for service. Athlete works out and controls their diet to be at their peak performance. The way of the cross will lead to a different kind of life.

As we follow Jesus in how we love, the big question is, “Is it even possible to truly love others in a way that reflects Christ’s love for us?” In 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a, Paul provides for us a resounding, "YES!" Join with us this Sunday as we look at how to live out Christ-like love in our every day lives.

As we continue in our Finding Balance series, it’s time to look at another balancing act. The Bible calls us to spur one another on towards progress in our faith, but we are also called to be patient, and bear with one another. How do we go about accomplishing both of these things? Can we encourage too much? Can we be too patient? Join us on Sunday as we search the Scriptures for the key to helping each other pursue balanced growth as disciples of Jesus.

God loves all people and all nations. For God So loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish.

We as Christians are supposed to have a love for all mankind, we respond differently than the world would respond because God showed His love for us. God wants us to to show love by being patient, kind to others; but how? In this sermon by Michael G. Barnes he teaches us from the chapter on love in I Corinthians 13:1-8 on how to love those we may not even know. You may be interested in books by Michael G. Barnes on Amazon.com. Michael has written, "The Eden Effect:Sin in the Garden," & "The Kingdom of Heaven."

The command to love others is central to the Christian faith. Loving well is more important than any other aspect of Christian life. Love leads us to set ourselves aside for the sake of others.Love feeds on the richness and joy of God's truth. Love is an immoveable force.
Today we start a new sermon series call 50 Days of Love. What is your ultimate goal in life? God says to make Love your greatest aim!
This morning we embark on our Winter Sermon Series - "Abundant Living" and in doing so we will be studying what Jesus means when he tells us that he came to 'give life, and give it abundantly'. We start by looking at what it means to be abundantly loving. God shows us through Galatians, that the Christian life and the things that the Spirit brings to the Christian are summed up in Galatians 5, and as such we will study each of those fruit and how we can live them to the fullest. Be blessed as you listen and study with us.
If I love right I'll live right. That may sound like an awfully big statement so let me take just a second and prove that this is true all throughout Scripture. What is the first and great commandment? It is to LOVE the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. What is the second greatest commandment? It is to LOVE others as we love our selves. Jesus said that everything else written in Scripture hangs on these two commandments (Matt 22:37-40). What Jesus meant by that last statement is that if we love as we are supposed to love, we will live as we are supposed to live. When I love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, I will do everything that God wants me to do and His commands will not be a burden (1 John 5:3). At the same time, if I love other people as I love myself, I will do everything that Scripture commands me to do for others, and I will refrain from doing to others what Scripture forbids. Love is the most excellent way. When I love right I'll live right. This passage shows us three reasons loving right leads to living right.

In this new series we look at relationships by understanding that we were created to be in relationship with God and others. And how we live in those relationships will determine our health. We begin with the myth that if we find that one perfect person our lives will be perfect. Will it? Or do we need to focus more on making ourselves that right person? Love is at the center of that transformation and we use God’s definition of what love is to guide us.
