In Paul's second letter to Timothy, he likens Christians to vessels, “…set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” Before that, however, he warns us to cleanse ourselves from “dishonorable use.” Essentially, our purification allows us to serve God's Kingdom well—but what happens when our church leaders don't? How does God respond when the people we look up to fall into sin? Listen in as we explore the tragic story of Eli's sons, and how they set a poor example for God's people.

On this episode, NCBA Executive Director of Government Affairs Kent Bacus joins to share an update on the U.S. Treasury Department's new interim final rule that protects small businesses, including farms and ranches, from excessive mandates under the Corporate Transparency Act. The interim rule is a sigh of relief for cattle producers who are no longer required to file invasive beneficial ownership information with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a division of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Bacus explains how the Trump administration and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reeled in the Corporate Transparency Act and ensured it was focused on criminals and money launderers instead of law-abiding family farmers and ranchers. He also details NCBA's engagement on this issue to protect cattle producers from government overreach.

At Enterprise Connect 2025, Sam Etler of Numeracle joined Doug Green, publisher of Technology Reseller News, to discuss how enterprises can protect their brand identity and restore trust in voice communications through secure branded calling. Solving the Growing Threat of Spoofed Calls Branded calling has become a critical tool for enterprises looking to authenticate their phone calls. However, traditional branding solutions have been vulnerable to spoofing, where scammers mimic legitimate businesses, damaging reputations and causing financial losses. “This is a way of securely adding your logo, a reason for calling, and your name to a call in a way that cannot be spoofed,” said Etler. “Unlike legacy branded calling solutions, our cryptographic signatures ensure calls are verified by the mobile provider.” What Makes Secure Branded Calling Different? Protects against spoofing: Traditional branding can be manipulated by fraudsters who hijack a business's caller ID, but Numeracle's solution prevents unauthorized branding. Enhances customer trust: Securely verifies the caller's identity before the call reaches the recipient. No third-party apps required: Works natively on iOS and Android without additional software. Live Demos at Enterprise Connect Numeracle is demonstrating this secure branded calling solution live at Booth #1000 at Enterprise Connect, showcasing real-time call authentication. “You'll see our logo appear on devices with no prior setup, proving that the branding is delivered over the network securely,” said Etler. Why Should Enterprises Pay Attention? With brand reputation at risk, large enterprises need to act now to prevent call spoofing and ensure their customers trust incoming calls. For those not attending Enterprise Connect, more information can be found at numeracle.com, where enterprises can also learn about call reputation management solutions to combat spam labeling issues.
From October 6, 2023: The First Amendment protects speech, but what kind? True speech, sure. But what about false or misleading speech? What if it's harmful? After all, you can't yell fire in a crowded theater—or can you?To answer these questions, Alan Rozenshtein, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota and Senior Editor at Lawfare spoke with Jeff Kosseff, who is an Associate Professor of Cybersecurity Law in the United States Naval Academy's Cyber Science Department and a Contributing Editor at Lawfare. Jeff is releasing his latest book this month, titled "Liar in a Crowded Theater: Freedom of Speech in a World of Misinformation," in which he describes, and defends, the First Amendment's robust protections for false and misleading speech. They spoke about the book, why you sometimes can yell fire in a crowded theater, and how new technology both superchargers misinformation and provides new tools to fight it.To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare. As Saul pursues David in the wilderness of Engedi, Saul stops to relieve himself in a cave where David and his men are hiding. Though David's men urge him to take his enemy into his own hand, David refuses personal vengeance and even feels pangs of conscience at cutting off the corner of the robe of the LORD's anointed. David shows himself guiltless to Saul, questions Saul's continued pursuit, and asks the LORD to be his deliverer. Saul recognizes David's righteousness and asks David not to destroy his house. David agrees, and the two men go their separate ways. Rev. Sam Wirgau, pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian, IN, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Samuel 24:1-22. "A Kingdom Unlike All the Nations” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Samuel. This time in Israel's history has its highs and lows, but the LORD's faithfulness never wavers. He provides His Word to be proclaimed faithfully through prophets like Samuel and Nathan. Even as princes like Saul and David sit on an earthly throne, the LORD remains King over His people, even as He does now and forever through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

In this week's episode of Retire in Texas, Darryl Lyons, CEO and Co-Founder of PAX Financial Group, breaks down the critical topic of estate planning and why having a will is essential for protecting your legacy. Many people put off drafting a will, assuming they have time or that their estate isn't complex enough to require one - but history shows that failing to plan can create unnecessary legal battles, tax burdens, and family disputes. Key highlights of the episode include: • The real-life consequences of not having a will, featuring case studies on Prince, Abraham Lincoln, Pablo Picasso, and Sonny Bono. • How probate works and why it can take years to settle an estate without a clear legal plan. • The impact of estate taxes and why high-net-worth individuals could lose up to 50% of their wealth without proper planning. • The roles of trustees, guardians, and corporate trustees in managing your estate effectively. • Practical steps to ensure your assets are distributed according to your wishes. Your will isn't just a legal document, it's a conversation about the future of your wealth and your family's well-being. Don't leave it to chance. Jim and Greg serve up all good martinis on 3 Martini Lunch as they break down President Trump's executive order banning men from women's sports, Attorney General Pam Bondi cutting off funding for sanctuary cities, and Democrats' electoral shenanigans backfiring in multiple states.First, they cheer Trump for signing an executive order to keep men out of women's sports, regardless of how those men "identify." They highlight America's overwhelming support for the move despite years of media narratives suggesting otherwise. They also note that even left-wing figures like tennis legend Martina Navratilova admit Democrats just handed Trump a major campaign weapon for 2024.Next, they applaud U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for cutting off Justice Department funding to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities. Jim compares this to the transgender sports debate, emphasizing that the left ignores just how strongly Americans want criminal illegals out of the country and illegal immigration to stop. Finally, they take satisfaction in Democrats' political stunts likely failing in Minnesota and New York. In Minnesota, Democrats stalled state house business because Republicans temporarily hold a one-seat majority, but after weeks of dysfunction, a power-sharing agreement is finally taking shape. Meanwhile, New York Democrats appear to be retreating from an effort to delay a special election to replace GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, which would have prolonged the razor-thin Republican majority in the U.S. HousePlease visit our great sponsors:Betterhelphttps://BetterHelp.com/3MLDiscover your relationship green flags and get 10% off your first month at BetterHelp.com/3MLNetsuitehttps://NetSuite.com/MARTINISee what is next for your business with the CFO's Guide to AI and Machine Learning free when you go to NetSuite.com/MARTINI.
