Join us as we continue our study of how to live a generous life, modeled after our Lord Jesus. This week, we talk about being generous with our talents.

Peter thought he knew better when he rebuked Jesus for announcing that he was going to suffer and be killed. Peter was not correct and needed a correction, which Jesus gave him. This exchange should have us all asking if we’re doing life in alignment with the will of God.

Today we conclude our series on Exiles. We re-examine the overarching theme of what it means to be in exile. It means distant from your home. In this closing chapter once of the things Peter instructs is for the people of the church of Christ feeling like outcasts, to remain close to each other. So you ask, how do we as a church today practice closeness? Join us to find out!

In this section of scripture, Peter continues to talk about the sufferings we will face because of our belief in Christ. Join us today as we look at how we suffer with a purpose and the attitude with which we approach it.

There are times when we look around at our lives or the world and think that things are really bad. Ever been there? The church that Peter addresses his letter to is in such a place. They are being put down for continuing to follow Jesus after his death. Peter reminds them of how God did the unimaginable and rescued Noah and his family from all the persecution they received for following God and building a huge boat nowhere near water. Our God can do the unimaginable in your life too. Sounds pretty amazing! Join us and listen to Peter’s teaching on how we should respond when persecuted for Christ’s sake.

In our last service, 1 Peter talked about being submissive to authority. Peter continues how we should be submissive in marriage. Peter focuses on our roles as husbands and wives which God has established. We are called to do right by our spouse, and trust in God for His plan for our marriages.

Have you ever questioned authority? Of course you have! We all question the advice of our parents; we question our bosses; our political leaders, police officers and judges…because we believe we know better. Peter urges us to submit to every authority instituted by men for “the Lord’s sake” which will bring glory and honor to Him.

As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we see that after having explained all the God has done for us, and then urging us to grow , Peter writes next about what we should grow into. And it starts with setting the right foundation on which everything else we say, think and do will be based on.

Last week Peter reminded us all about what God has done for us so we can be in relationship with Him. Peter now writes about how we respond to the trials and difficulty that comes our way. It’s clear that the next move is ours; we can choose to change our path and follow the teaching of Christ or not. How will you respond in light of all your Creator has done for you?

In this new series, we’ll be reading through 1Peter and studying his message to the Greek Jews and Gentiles on holy living when facing persecution. We start by looking at Peter’s introductory remarks to new believers that inspire faith, perseverance, hope and the joy of the inheritance to come.

In today’s culture it sometimes appears that the church is on the defensive. But Jesus pointed out that He could not be overcome and that is why the church of Christ is always moving forward. The church is built on Christ’s testimony, that the Son of God is making a way for us to be with God eternally, through His atonement for our sin. On that foundation believers move forward. However, our personal agendas can get ahead of the church, just like in today’s story. So Jesus take the opportunity to teach that if any of us want to be great then we have to be last and serve. Then we can better understand the greatness of Jesus.

We were created by God to live in unity and harmony with Him and the other people He created. The example Jesus gave was to serve, encourage and exalt one another. To live this way, we need to spend time with each other, building our relationships the way Jesus invested in His disciples. CPCC encourages you to be involved in a church related group outside of Sunday mornings so relationships can be forged and refined. We were made to live in community.

Today’s story reveals how even Peter, who had so much heart and courage and faith, allowed worldly pressure to create fear in him, which then caused him to change his behavior toward the early church. We all allow fear to creep in to our lives, and like Peter, we stumble. But because we’ve experienced the love of God on a personal level, we continue to move forward in faith and we don’t look back. We pray that you would be convinced to your core that God traded places with you on the cross because he loves you that much.

As we finish our series on the book of Revelation, we conclude by getting a glimpse of heaven and the reward in store for us who are faithful. But Jesus warns us one last time that not everyone will receive this reward unless there is a change of heart. It’s not too late. Anyone can receive the salvation that Jesus offers. Please don’t let another day pass. Talk to God right now and ask for His forgiveness for doing it your way and not His. Believe that Jesus died for you and conquered the death so that you would have eternal life. Tell Jesus you want to follow Him and ask for His Spirit to fill your life. The day of salvation is here for you!

God has desired to be with his people since the beginning. But sin separated us from Him. The great news is God is love, and He will make all things new, never to be broken again. That’s a gift offered to all of us. In light of that, does that change where you place your priorities and your excitement? Is it time to upgrade from the things you’ve been chasing after all your life to the only thing that can satisfy your soul? Listen in as we read the revelation made to John about what the Creator has in store for you!

Our Jesus defeats the combined forces of evil. That’s the story of Revelation. What we need to remember is that evil is also in us and we have a tendency to act like the “beast” the Jesus defeated. At Colonial Point, no one is perfect. But we strive to follow and become like Jesus every day so that we can share in His victory. We invite you to join us as we live life together.

From the beginning of time we have been lured away from God and many have been seduced by Satan. But, God has also warned us and loved us since the beginning of time. We must be strong to resist the temptations of the world because God is going to destroy everything evil. Are there things that you value more than your relationship with God? Each one of us must examine ourselves and choose what’s of greater value.

Did you ever think about how many times a day you take credit for something that really belongs to God? If you believe that all good things come from God, then our lives should be a reflection of God’s glory. Today we continue in Revelation and read about the judgments poured out on those who refused to give God glory. Every day is an opportunity to turn away from the things of the world and turn to the God of Creation.

As we go through life, we find ourselves up against small and large obstacles that often feel too big to surmount. And we wonder how we fight these huge problems. As we go through these next two chapters, Heaven reminds us to be patient and endure the trials and hardships. We do that through a constant relationship with Jesus. He said” Remain in me as I also remain in you” John 15. This way we are firmly rooted and established in Christ when the opposition arises.

In this next series of chapters we see God’s wrath and punishment poured out on evil. What we can take away from this is that God’s good will triumph and that we need to continue to pray, and join with God’s will. We also need to repent from any sin or rebelliousness that has gotten a foothold in our life. And we need to proclaim the God’s Word by consuming it daily. It's through these things that we can help others come to know the salvation of Christ.

In these next chapters of Revelation, we read about God’s judgment and wrath over a rebellious earth. It’s awful, and scary, and frightening to envision what’s to come for those who refuse to follow Jesus. But what we can take away from these scriptures is that our God is in control. There is nothing hap hazard or chaotic about the series of events unfolding. God is over it all and He still loves us.

In today’s scriptures we receive amazing imagery of God’s throne room and all the elders, angles, creatures, and saints who give him praise and worship. He is worthy or it! The question to ask ourselves is, do we give God that much worth and value? Or are we giving something or someone else more value? Join us today as we talk about honoring, glorifying, praising and worshiping our sovereign God.

Guest speaker Brian Zitt and his son Jordan joins us once again sharing their testimony since their last visit of the wonders God is doing and God’s continued grace for those suffering from addictions.

Today we read through the seven letters to the seven churches that were shown to John. We see common themes in each letter including Christ announcing himself as sovereign, Christ encouraging the church to continue on in good deeds, Christ rebuking each church for the sin they have allowed in, and Christ proclaiming the blessing to those who overcome the sin of the world.

CPCC starts a new series on the book of Revelation. For many, Revelation is a scary story filled with beasts, war, and death. But the truth that was told to John and shared with us is hope and triumph! Our Savior is coming back for us! As we start at the beginning of Revelation we learn that the revelation given to John is the Word of God given by Jesus Christ and all those who read it aloud and hear it’s message will be blessed. What glorious news from our Creator!

In Paul’s letters to the early churches, he instructs them to “put to death” sinful behaviors. We all allow sin to settle into our lives, we get comfortable with it, or complacent because we can’t overcome it. Be Paul is telling us we need to go after it and put it to death!

We’re called to do good deeds, but how are we equipped to do those good works? Paul writes to his apprentice Timothy that we have scripture from God to be used in all occasions. Scripture is God’s revelation to us of Himself. How amazing is that! And we can draw from it everything we need to honor God and live a life of purpose.

Our God has bestowed great favor on us simply by showing us mercy. In other words, He didn’t give us what we deserve, and that’s death. Paul writes about how we can transform our minds and become more like Christ, which should be our response to God. How do you transform your mind to be more like Christ? Listen…

Our God encourages us to ask Him for anything because He wants to be in relationship with us. He wants us to approach Him. Of course we know that we don’t get everything we ask for because if we did, then that would turn God into a puppet and we’d be God. Since we weren’t meant to be God, maybe we should be examining our motives instead? In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus teaches us what to do after we ask.

2000 years ago, people worried about different things like food, shelter, clothing, and safety. We have come so far as a people, but we still worry about plenty of things, don’t we? We have to remember that our enemy wants us to worry, and then doubt that God is able or trustworthy. But our bible reminds us that the Creator will provide for us everything we need, if we just seek His Kingdom first. Join us as we dive deeper into that truth.

Our enemy is constantly trying to destroy our image of God. And our culture does the same thing by telling us we’re too short, to tall, to thin, to this or that! It insinuates that God made a mistake when He made you doesn’t it? But that’s not the truth! We are freafully and wonderfully made; created by His hand; set apart! And we need to live like we are different, purposeful, and special. Listen to hear more about how beautifully made you are…

As Colonial Point celebrates the resurrection of Jesus we return to a simple scripture and teaching. God loves you. And because He loves you He sent Jesus to reconcile you to God, because you can’t do it on your own. And if you accept Jesus as God’s son and sacrifice for your sin, you will have everlasting life.

In the last part of these series we look at Paul’s final instructions in his first letter to the Thessalonians. Paul urges them and us to live in peace, encourage others, help the weak, rejoice and pray always.

The Thessalonians were struggling with death. They thought the others who had gone before them achieved something they didn’t or couldn’t. And, they were listening to a lot of false teaching. So Paul’s helps them understand the eternal life Jesus gave us.

If you are comfortable in your faith, then ask yourself if you are living to please God or yourself. It’s not always easy to carry out God’s will, but obedience reaps a harvest of blessings.

We all suffer. And Satan would like us to thing that God is a punisher and not good. Today Sean Harvey shares how we can carry each other’s burdens through the hard times.

The Gospel changes and transforms lives. Paul recognized this on his missionary journey and writes about what he witnessed at the church in Thessalonica. He saw that they were filled with hope, love and faith and encouraged them to spread the Gospel by treating others well, living a worthy life, living with right motives, and being bold for the Lord Jesus.

What does a model believer do? We gain inspiration from Paul in his letter to the church at Thessalonica. In it, he writes what a joy to him they are and thanks them for their faith, hope, and love. That’s a church worth imitating! That’s a church we can model ourselves after. Model Godly behavior by following Godly examples!

Did you ever pray for something and not get an answer? What did you do when that happened? In today’s bible verse we learn the story of a women who is not an Israelite who comes to Jesus begging to have her sins forgiven so that her daughter can be healed by Him. At first, Jesus ignores her plea! Then he tells her that He did not come for her nation! Then He tells her that it’s not right that she receive favor! What!!! I don’t know about you, but I think I might have taken the hint, got discouraged and given up. But you need to see what happens next…join us to find out!

God wants us to talk to Him and that’s prayer. Last week, we talked about how husbands need to pray for our wives. This week we talk to our women about how to pray for our husbands. Join us as we hear from our CPCC ladies about how they cover their husbands in prayer.

The story of David and Goliath is well known, as is the outcome. David was triumphant and gave God all the glory! Does every battle you fight have the same positive outcome as David’s in this story? Probably not. But you can still give God glory through your perseverance and faith by enduring life’s trials. Enduring trails provides you with a powerful testimony to share with other to help encourage and witness to the love of Christ. Do you see opportunity when the outcome isn’t favorable? Remember that God can use you in powerful ways in both triumph and tragedy.

Are you convicted of something? As we’ve been going through this series, we’ve been studying great characters of faith who were convicted to carry out great acts of faith. Today we focus on Moses and how he was set apart. He was offered the chance to grow up in great privilege as the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter. But Moses rejected that life completely. He didn’t try to have the best of both worlds; he stood with the oppressed Israelites because he was convinced that it was a better way to live. Living God’s way was greater then what Egypt could offer. The Spirit of God is going to convict you of something. Will you decide to listen to Him and make a difference in your life or somebody else’s?

Today, Pastor Turney tells us the story of Joseph in the first person. We hear about the betrayal of his brothers, his imprisonment, and how he rises to power to fulfill God’s plan. As you’ll see from the story, sometimes things don’t go our way. In fact, we can find ourselves in some dire circumstances. But our God has a plan for you just like He did for Joseph. Are you able to wait for God’s plan to be revealed? Can your faith endure the trials of life? We believe it can when we ask Jesus for help and live out the Christian life together.

Every person is called to be holy and righteous. That’s the standard God has set for us. One way that looks is that we are to be a blessing to those we encounter, even if they persecute us. Abraham was called too. Called to do something specific that he couldn’t grasp or see. It required faith for him to be obedient. And faith is what made Abraham who he was. Faith makes you who you are. If you are going to make a difference, it will be based on what you believe. What difference are you making because of what you believe?

In this new series, we’ll be looking back through the bible at the lives and stories of some significant men and women who loved God and did as He commanded. We’ll kick off the series by studying Noah and why God choose him to perpetuate mankind. But more importantly, is Noah’s character and the courage he mustered to follow God’s will. Our hope is that we’ll see that people just like us did great things for the Kingdom of God because they decided to make a difference and follow God. You can too; it starts with a personal relationship with Jesus and a desire for change.

If we turn away from things that are not godly, and humble ourselves before our God, he will forgive our sins, and heal us. Colonial Point starts the new year with prayer and humility before God. Join us in prayer today!

God loves the entire world, because He demonstrated it by giving us His only son, Jesus even though we didn’t deserve this gift of grace. Today, billions of people have still not heard about God’s gift of Jesus to all mankind. Do you believe in Jesus? Have you received the best gift ever offered? We pray that your heart is touched this Christmas and you feel, understand, and accept the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

Today we’re reading about David and his desire to give for the building of God’s temple. David loved God. And when it came time to gather up materials for the temple, David gave generously because of his love for God. And as we read on, David’s generosity sparked a movement among the other leaders to also give generously. Living generously is our goal as Christ followers. As we look for opportunities to share the message of Christ, let’s be ready to share our possessions generously.

You have gifts given to you by God’s grace. It’s a supernatural ability to serve the body of Christ and the world. Do you know what your gifts are? Are you actively using them to serve at your church? Paul uses the analogy of a body to describe how each of us is an essential part and that if we’re all working together using our gifts and talents, we’re all better off.

We’re going to take time to revisit this mini-series once again because of the importance of how we are generous with our time, talents and treasure. Today, we get to hear testimonies from Mark and Meredith Michaud and from our friends at Cornerstone Shelter in Vernon and the impact that’s been made because of how they have allowed God to determine the use of their time.
