Cadavere Sport Cars mi ha querelato e si e' autospianato
In cooperation with Bonhams, one of the world's premier auctioneers of classic cars, Jared Zaugg has assembled a selection of iconic sports and race cars that go far beyond mere technical stats and gleaming chrome. Every page of "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!" gives the reader a sense of the intensity of true automobile culture and reveals the stories behind some of the world's most breathtaking models. Gestalten.tv met Zaugg at the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart and also spoke with Bonhams' CEO Malcolm Barber about our continuing fascination for these cars and their iconic designs.
Maserati's flagship model has updated styling and features. It can be fitted with two different engines, a 4.2 litre and a 4.7 litre (on the S version). It is another engineering masterpiece; a testimony to the craftman's art designed by Pininfarina's distinctive hand.
The addition of side and rear spoilers are perhaps the elements that visually distinguish the Maserati GranTurismo S. The spoilers give the car a decidedly sporty and aggressive look, one that was perfected in the wind tunnel in order to increase the bodywork?s aerodynamic efficiency. The side spoilers contribute to improving airflow over the rear wheels while the rear spoiler increases rear end downforce, which ensures a more balanced front-rear Cz coefficient. To enhance its handling and dynamic behaviour, the Maserati GranTurismo S is equipped with seven-spoke 20? rims. The all-new design is completed with an eye-catching Trident. The seats boast a new design for the central zone, with horizontal piping. Now you can choose a full Poltrona Frau leather interior or opt for a sportier and more sophisticated interior by substituting the Alcantara seat coverings with Peccary* leather. This is type of embossed natural leather is instantly recognisable as it does not need any additional surface coating. Those in the driver?s seat will notice the gearbox paddles, with an elegant tapered shape with a stylish chromed trim. You can select your preferred dashboard finish as well as that of the door panels and rear side panels. One option is a woven aluminium glass fibre fabric: AluTex with a modern, high-tech look, it is created by depositing a fine metal powder on the surface of the fibreglass that produces a shiny three-dimensional effect.
Admire the Quattroporte range in all its glory.
Exclusively Maserati. An integral part of the interior luxury of the GranTurismo, the optional Bose Surround Sound system brings a new listening experience to Maserati owners
The long wait is over - the Maserati GranTurismo unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow.
A glimpse into the exclusive world of Maserati, from the unique factory delivery service to the sophisticated merchandise items and thrilling driving courses on offer, become part of the Maserati family to know what sets the Trident brand apart.
Maserati is a big believer in drawing a line between all of its cars so that, regardless of how different they might appear, there are hallmarks that are instantly, unmistakably Maserati.
Pininfarina has given the GranTurismo a design that unconsciously takes your eye on a fluid journey across the muscles of the front wheel arches, to the extrusion past the cabin and over the feline haunches to the tail, with its built-in spoiler lip.
Ideal over long distances, the Maserati GranTurismo has been created for those who appreciate true sophistication, and want their car to deliver a sensational driving experience day after day.
There was a time when luxury gave you the overwhelming satisfaction of knowing something had been handcrafted for you, to match your exact needs. The GranTurismo redefines luxury in the Grand Tourer segment, thanks to perfect partners such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Poltrona Frau.
Most people would not suppose that the GranTurismo?s automatic transmission and its Skyhook active suspension system had a reason to communicate. One of them is a stunningly smooth and fast gear shifter, capable of coping with higher engine speeds than any other automatic transmission in the world. The other normally keeps the body riding smoothly by making more than 100 decisions about the bumps in the road every second, then instantly altering the stiffness of the suspension to cope.
Designing a car to fulfill both the sports-car traditions of Maserati and the luxury demanded by a busy day-to-day life took clever thinking.
The Active safety of the Maserati GranTurismo is very advanced. It was developed to combine extremely stable and balanced road holding with extraordinary performance. Completing the package is the highest level of electronic Active safety measures, in place to help limit damage and avoid potentially dangerous situations. The GranTurismo's entire passive safety system has been designed by Maserati around its most important elements: the driver and passengers. The GranTurismo?s passenger safety cell is strong, rigid and is also protected with six airbags that are designed to work in conjunction with the occupant?s seatbelts. There are driver and passenger two-stage front airbags, two more in the doors for side-impact protection and another two integrated into the sides of the seats.
The GranTurismo is not only a high-performance sportscar but, above all, a vehicle that can be enjoyed on a daily basis, providing sensations that are not easily forgotten by the driver or passengers. Having said that, the vehicle is also perfect for the classic Grand Tour. The joy of sitting on board the GranTurismo each day comes not only from being immersed in an environment enriched by the eye-catching design and the finest materials but also by the luxury that only space, light and brightness provide.
Beauty is the Maserati GranTurismo?s most potent weapon. Its taut lines, rippling muscles and polished surfaces immediately grab the eye. Sculptured and sexy, elegant and well-balanced, the GranTurismo?s visual presence sets the pulse racing. Its authentic style is unmistakably Maserati, transmitting power, sensuality and refinement to their limits. Pininfarina has created a design that symbolizes the very nature of the GranTurismo concept, combining sporty performance in a spacious car for four adults.
