In “How Humanoid Robots are Shaping the Future of Logistics”, Joe Lynch and Parker Conroy, Head of Product at Apptronik, discuss how Apollo, a human-centered, AI-powered humanoid robot, is set to transform the industry by working alongside humans to fill labor gaps and perform a wide range of tasks in a safe and efficient manner. About Parker Conroy Parker Conroy is the Head of Product at Apptronik, a leading developer of humanoid robots. Conroy has worked in robotics for more than a decade, guiding product management teams to design and deploy thousands of industrial robotic arms, autonomous mobile robots, drones, and now, humanoid robots. Prior to Apptronik, he was Director of Robotics Product Development at Verizon, where he led product management and robotics strategy in 5G and multi-access edge computing. Conroy previously spent five-plus years leading mobile robotics development at Omron Robotics and Safety. His graduate research focused on optimal control of UAV swarms, which led him directly into developing teams that designed the features of one of the first industrial autonomous fleet control systems. Parker's experience guides development roadmaps that target cutting-edge research grounded in reliable architectures, balancing innovation with mature technologies. About Apptronik Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered humanoid robots. Our goal is to create human helpers to support humanity in every facet of life. Our robot, Apollo, is designed to collaborate thoughtfully with humans—initially in critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond. Apollo is the culmination of nearly a decade of development, drawing on Apptronik's extensive work on 15 previous robots, including NASA's Valkyrie robot. Apptronik started out of the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin and has over 150 employees. Key Takeaways: How Humanoid Robots are Shaping the Future of Logistics Human-Centered Robotics: Apptronik's core philosophy is to create human-centric helpers, not replacements. The company aims for a future where robots and humans work together to enhance human capabilities and improve quality of life, starting in logistics and expanding to other industries. Addressing Labor Shortages: The Apollo humanoid robot is designed to fill critical labor gaps in the logistics and manufacturing sectors. By automating repetitive and physically demanding tasks, it allows human workers to be upskilled to higher-value, more rewarding roles. Humanoid Form Factor Advantage: The humanoid design of Apollo allows it to operate seamlessly within existing, human-centric environments. This eliminates the need for expensive facility redesigns, making integration into warehouses and factories much more efficient compared to other types of robots. Safety and Collaboration: Apollo is equipped with an advanced force control architecture, enabling it to work safely alongside humans in shared spaces. This makes it a "collaborative robot" or "cobot," removing the need for safety cages and allowing for closer interaction with human colleagues. Versatile Platform: Unlike single-purpose robots, Apollo is a general-purpose platform. Its versatile design and AI capabilities mean it can be programmed to handle a wide range of tasks, providing a highly adaptable solution for companies looking to automate various processes. Balanced Innovation: Parker Conroy's extensive experience in robotics ensures that Apptronik's development roadmaps balance cutting-edge research with practical, reliable architectures. This approach guarantees that the products are not only innovative but also robust and ready for real-world deployment. Strong Foundation: Apptronik's origins from the University of Texas's Human Centered Robotics Lab and its extensive history developing 15 previous robots, including NASA's Valkyrie, give it a solid foundation. This academic and research-driven background underpins the rigorous engineering behind the Apollo robot. Alan Weiss' The Uncomfortable Truth

SHOW NOTES: People want problems solved, even if you caused them! Learn how Katz's Deli and Mercedes Benz have turned problems into profits. Don't look for blame, look for opportunity. No one is as excited about an expected excellent experience as they are about a disappointing experience turned into an excellent experience. Customers tend to tell a huge number of people about their experiences, at their levels—peer-to-peer evangelism. This is why companies that make it their work to make themselves unreachable (welcome to government agencies) are so foolish. Perhaps, instead of saying, "The problem with you is...." you should be saying, "Let me help you do that even better."

Jason and Derek escape the studio this week to record from Hagerty's Motorlux event, the kickoff to Monterey Car Week 2025. We join them at this year's highlighted Bruno Sacco display, featuring designs that defined Mercedes-Benz in the 80's, 90's, and 2000's. The legacy of Sacco certainly lives on - but maybe not quite in the ways you might have originally thought... === The Carmudgeon Show Sponsor, Vredestein Tires: https://www.vredestein.com/ === Rumor has it, Sacco never designed a single car himself. But how is that possible? In this episode, Jason and Derek discuss the ways in which Sacco's design philosophies defined Mercedes-Benz's image and technological growth over several key decades. We celebrate his achievements as a individual designer, but in reality, it took a village to build his legacy. Sacco was a "manager of minds" - one who is attributing for communicating and executing his vision across an entire team of designers, eventually building a department that had not previously existed but would eventually become a key in Mercedes-Benz's corporate function. The display includes Jason's W201 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth and Derek's Bornite Metallic S124 E320 Wagon. Also featured is a 40th Anniversary R129 Mercedes-Benz SL500, a C124 300CE Convertible, and two C126 560SEC Coupes. But of course at Motorlux, that's just the tip of the iceberg, with a slew of other incredible cars and airplanes on display. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Pues comenzamos… Categoría absoluta. AC Shelby Cobra (1962). Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (1967). Alpine A110 (1963). Aston Martin DB5 (1963). Buick Riviera (1963). Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray (1963). Dino Ferrari GT (1967). Ferrari GTO (1962). Ford Mustang (1965). Iso Rivolta Grifo (1963). Jaguar E (1961). Lamborghini Miura (1966). Lancia Fulvia Coupé HF (1966). Maserati Ghibli (1967). Mercedes Benz 280 SL “Pagoda” (1963). Plymouth Barracuda (1964). Porsche 911 (1964). Toyota 2000 GT (1967). Triumph TR6 (1969). Volvo P 1800 (1961).

In this episode of CAREER-VIEW MIRROR, we're celebrating the career to date of Glen Dyer.Glen is currently Managing Director at Iveco Trucks Australia. His career started at NatWest Bank, and he went on to build experience across banking, finance, and the automotive sector—holding key leadership roles at companies including Mercedes-Benz Financial Services in both the UK and Australia. His journey has included everything from frontline sales roles to leading major organisational transformations, including the launch of innovative financial products and the integration of multiple sales divisions across vehicles and finance. He's a leader who has grown through experience—often by learning the hard way—and who now takes huge satisfaction in developing others to thrive in their own roles. In our conversation, we talk about Glen's upbringing in London and his move to Newport Pagnell at age 12, and how his early experiences shaped his sense of identity and resilience. We trace his journey from his early banking roles—where the lack of recognition and rigid hierarchy frustrated him—to the realisation that sales, when approached systematically, could be an empowering path to success.Glen speaks candidly about the tough transition into leadership—being promoted without training, trying to carry the load for his whole team, and burning out in the process. He shares how the loss of his best friend, Paul Davis, at just 30, caused him to step away from work and go travelling for over a year. That time gave him fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. We also talk about his time at Mercedes-Benz—both in the UK and in Australia—where with the support of good leadership and professional development, Glen thrived in roles that played to his strengths and stretched his capabilities. Now, as MD of Iveco Trucks, he continues to lead with authenticity, empowering others to succeed, and finding fulfilment in seeing his teams grow.Connect with GlenLinkedInAbout AndyI'm a business leader, coach, and the creator of the Fulfilling Performance framework—designed to help people bring more of themselves to what they do and experience greater fulfilment and performance as a result.Over the past 25+ years, I've led and developed businesses including Alphabet UK, BMW Financial Services in the UK, Singapore, and New Zealand, and Tesla Financial Services UK.

In this episode of America on the Road, host Jack Nerad and co-host Chris Teague discuss the latest automotive news, including new tax breaks for car buyers, challenges faced by important global automakers, and exciting new vehicle releases from GMC and Mercedes-Benz. They also provide in-depth reviews of the 2025 Kia K4 sedan and the 2025 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance, highlighting their features and performance. In this week's road test segment, host Jack Nerad discovers the 2025 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance to be a breath of fresh air in today's highly homogenized and shrinking sedan market. With a 472-horsepower naturally aspirated V8 under its hood, this unassumingly styled rear-wheel-drive sedan blends old-school performance with modern tech and refinement. Aggressively tuned for back-road thrills yet wrapped in a sleek, understated four-door package, the IS 500 offers a visceral experience, enhanced by high-end features like heated/ventilated sport seats, a Mark Levinson sound system, and a refined tech suite. And you'll never guess the cars Jack Nerad compares it to. Also in the spotlight this week is Chris Teague's test of the all-new 2025 Kia K4, a compact sedan aiming to shake up the segment with bold styling and surprising tech. Replacing the outgoing and under-rated Forte, the K4 pulls into the lot with a surprisingly upscale interior, available turbocharged power, and Kia's latest infotainment platform. Chris dives into how it drives, how it stacks up against rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, and whether Kia has another budget-friendly hit on its hands. This episode's special guest is Anthony Monaco, marketing lead for Ram heavy-duty trucks. Monaco joins the show to discuss exciting and affordable new product updates from Ram, shedding light on where the brand is heading and what consumers can expect from the latest heavy-duty lineup. In the news, a sweeping new federal tax deduction could shake up the auto financing world. Under the “Big, Beautiful Bill” signed by President Trump, qualifying buyers can now deduct up to $10,000 in interest on loans for U.S.-assembled vehicles. The catch? Income caps apply, leases are excluded, and not every car will qualify. The IRS will release a list of eligible models, and VIN documentation will be required. Is it a good idea? We'll have details. Meanwhile, three major global automakers—Stellantis, Porsche, and Jaguar Land Rover—are navigating rocky terrain. Stellantis reported a staggering $2.7 billion loss, tied to new tariffs and slumping sales, while Porsche is slashing costs amid weakening EV demand. JLR, reeling from a 15% sales dip and delayed EV rollouts, is trimming jobs and recalibrating its strategy. Two big product debuts also made headlines. GMC launched the 2026 Acadia Denali Ultimate, pushing deeper into luxury with full-leather interiors, Super Cruise hands-free driving, and a 16-speaker Bose system. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz revealed its next-gen CLA, available first in battery-electric and then hybrid form. The EV variant boasts nearly 500 miles of range and impresively fast charging, while the hybrids promise efficiency and flexibility for mainstream buyers. This episode also highlights the America on the Road Made in America Tour, which showcases vehicles and other products built in the U.S., tying in with new buyer incentives and celebrating American ingenuity and homegrown manufacturing. We close the show with a listener question from Mitchell in Boulder, Colorado, who says, “I want to buy a new car, but I need some help in making the deal. How much should I negotiate off the MSRP on a new car?” Jack and Chris share advice on negotiation strategy, dealer incentives, and the current state of new car pricing. Check Out Matt's Book: Pick up a copy of co-host Matt DeLorenzo's terrific new book How to Buy an Affordable Electric Car: A Tightwad's Guide to EV Ownership.

Technology Reseller News Podcast with Dave Michels, TalkingPointz "AI and automation is really all that anyone cares about right now. And this is a power combination." — Dave Michels, TalkingPointz In this Technology Reseller News podcast, publisher Doug Green speaks with Dave Michels of TalkingPointz to unpack NICE's blockbuster $955 million acquisition of Cognigy, a move that signals a transformative leap in the CX and CCaaS landscape. “This is a landmark moment,” said Michels. “We're watching the CCaaS space redefine itself around CX—and NICE is taking decisive action.” NICE, a global leader in AI-powered customer experience, announced it is acquiring Cognigy, the top enterprise provider of conversational and agentic AI. This acquisition unites NICE's CXone Mpower platform with Cognigy's Cognigy.AI, enabling organizations to orchestrate AI agents across front and back office functions with purpose-built CX AI models. Michels noted that while CCaaS providers have been increasingly positioning themselves under the broader ‘customer experience' banner, this acquisition may be the inflection point. “I've been wondering when the Magic Quadrant would shift from CCaaS to CX. This deal brings us closer.” Cognigy brings with it a blue-chip client list—including Lufthansa, Mercedes-Benz, Swissair, Nestlé, and Puma—and a projected 80% ARR growth in 2026. NICE gains not only powerful technology, but also an elite customer base and a strong European footprint. As for whether the nearly $1 billion price tag was justified, Michels pointed to investor confidence: “NICE gained $500 million in market cap within hours of the announcement. That's Wall Street's endorsement of the deal.” He also predicts that NICE will maintain Cognigy's independence. “To shut down their open ecosystem would be foolhardy. These are complementary solutions—this gives NICE a broader seat at the CX table.” From cultural alignment to AI-first innovation, Michels sees the deal as smart and strategically sound. “Both companies are platform-first. Both are chasing the same strategic vision—and they're better together.” As the contact center market pivots to CX orchestration powered by AI, this acquisition may come to be seen not just as timely, but foundational. To hear more insights from Dave Michels, visit TalkingPointz.com, and stay tuned to Technology Reseller News for continued coverage of this evolving story.

He's worked through them at every level. From the production lines of Nissan and Mercedes-Benz and now as a consultant for distressed plants, he has seen what causes operations to fall apart. And the biggest problems don't come from the floor. They come from leadership.Jay starts by sharing how poor leadership decisions create ripple effects that reach all the way to the floor. Holiday shifts that never end. Supervisors are stretched too thin. People burned out from six- and seven-day workweeks, year after year.Operational pressure doesn't just hit the floor; it follows people home. When that pressure builds up for long enough, performance drops, and culture breaks. Jay doesn't blame the people doing the work; he points the finger at the decisions being made at the top.But Jay doesn't frame this as a call for soft leadership. In fact, he's clear: being a good leader means setting expectations, being consistent, and holding people accountable. What doesn't work is enforcing rules that no one follows or only applying them when convenient. You can't expect consistent performance if you don't hold people accountable—or worse, if leadership doesn't model the behavior themselves.Jay recalls workers raising grandkids, struggling to keep up, and barely making it through the week. Leaders might not think that's their responsibility, but Jay argues otherwise. If your policies at work make someone's home life harder, you're responsible for that too. They also revisit accountability, but in a different light. Jan mentions a recent interview with Brad Ring at Webasto, who swapped the word "accountability" for "promise." It's a simple change, but it changes everything. "I promise to get this done" hits differently than "you'll be held accountable."They also talk about tariffs. Jay explains how one political post or policy change can throw an entire manufacturing plan off course. He's seen companies scrap full strategies mid-meeting because of a headline. That level of volatility demands preparation. You can't move production in a week, especially in automotive, but you can plan. This episode is a reminder that the weight of leadership isn't just about decisions. It's about owning your impact. As Jay puts it, you influence more than just metrics—you influence whether someone gets to go home proud or completely drained. That's where operational transformation begins. Not with new systems. Not with floor-level changes. But with better leadership.Themes discussed in this episode:How poor leadership creates burnout and operational breakdowns in manufacturingWhy holding employees accountable without clear standards creates chaos and mistrustWhy operational breakdowns often stem from leadership gaps, not workforce performanceHow Gen Z workers are reshaping expectations for culture in manufacturing plantsHow inconsistent enforcement of rules weakens trust and team accountabilityWhy companies must address culture and accountability before fixing production issuesWhat leaders must do to prepare for tariff changes and global trade uncertaintyFeatured guest: Jay ButlerWhat he does: Jay is the VP of Client Development at Seraph, where he leads management and leadership training, quality improvement, strategic planning, and product...
