Send us a textWhat does it take to transform a teenage fascination with Microsoft Paint into collaborations with global brands like Nike, Apple, and Mercedes-Benz? In this candid conversation, digital artist Rik Oostenbroek pulls back the curtain on his remarkable 19-year creative journey.Rik's story begins in a small Dutch town where his teacher parents emphasized education and sports over artistic pursuits. His creative awakening came during his rebellious teenage years when a friend introduced him to DeviantArt, sparking a self-taught design education that would eventually lead to designing flyers for local events in exchange for free drinks. By age 17, he had landed his first major client—Volkswagen—after his portfolio unexpectedly gained over 100,000 views in a single day.The conversation takes fascinating turns as Rik shares his evolution from freelancer to art director for Cirque du Soleil in Montreal, ultimately returning to independence when he discovered corporate environments stifled his creativity. His philosophy of "always remember why you started" has guided him through the volatile Web3 landscape, where he found both supportive collectors and new possibilities for digital art. Rik's refreshing honesty about the challenges of maintaining artistic integrity while building commercial success offers valuable insights for creators at any stage.Looking ahead, Rik reveals details about his six-month collaboration on a generative art project, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and artistic growth. Whether discussing his dream of living in Japan or LA, his experience getting scammed in the early crypto days, or his obsession with risotto, Rik's authentic passion for creativity shines throughout this conversation.Ready to be inspired? Listen now and discover why remembering your creative roots might be the most powerful tool for navigating an artistic career in today's rapidly changing digital landscape.https://x.com/RikOostenbroekSupport the show

Formerly flying under the GLK banner, Mercedes-Benz shook up its crossover and SUV lineup to better coordinate with its current line of coupes and sedans. That meant the GLK essentially became the GLC-Class in 2015. Mercedes-Benz launched the current, second-generation GLC-Class crossover in 2022. This updated GLC-Class added a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and a soon-to-be-released battery-electric variant to the GLC's option sheet. In PHEV guise, the GLC 350e packs a turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 under the hood and pairs it with a permanently synchronized electric motor for a combined system output of 313 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Murphy takes you along on a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the Mercedes crossover, where it stands in the marketplace, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e special.
Outsourcing To Grow Profitably with Yoni Kozminski What if you could scale your business into eight figures using an offshore team, lean capital, and rock-solid systems? On this episode of The Profit Answer Man, we sit down with Yoni Kozminski – a global entrepreneur who built not one but two bootstrapped companies past the $10M revenue mark. He shares the exact strategies he used to scale using top-tier talent from the Philippines, all while maintaining high profitability and operational control. If you're looking to reduce margin-killing inefficiencies and systematize your way to profit freedom, this episode is your game plan. In This Episode, You'll Learn: How Yoni bootstrapped two companies past $10M+ with just $100K in capital. Why hiring offshore isn't about cheap labor – it's about buying leverage strategically. The difference between SOPs that gather dust and those that create clarity and scale. How to avoid the hidden tax of operational chaos and stop being the bottleneck in your business. Why process improvement is your best risk management tool. The playbook to build an EOS-aligned, system-driven company with profit-first thinking at its core. Key Takeaways: You don't need VC money to scale. Yoni's blueprint shows how leveraging talent and process beats chasing capital. 95% offshore doesn't mean lower quality – it means higher ROI. When done right, this approach creates margin-rich scale. Process is the new profit lever. SOPs aren't just for compliance; they're the foundation of sustainable growth. Hiring top talent isn't about geography – it's about alignment, clarity, and culture. Financial freedom starts with operational freedom. If your business can't run without you, you don't own a business—you own a job. About Yoni Kozminski: Yoni brings 15+ years of global marketing and strategy expertise, having worked with brands like Mercedes-Benz, Sony, and Mastercard. After scaling and selling a $5M Amazon business, he founded MultiplyMii and Escala – powerhouse agencies that specialize in elite offshore hiring and process optimization. His companies were bootstrapped with just $100,000 and now generate over $10M in combined revenue annually, with a team that's 95% based in the Philippines. Yoni now helps entrepreneurs systematize, scale, and reclaim their time – all while growing their bottom line. Conclusion: If you're serious about scaling without stress and multiplying your profits without multiplying your headaches, this episode is a masterclass in operational leverage.
Driver assistance technologies are facing a major identity crisis according to a revealing new JD Power white paper. While automakers invest billions into developing these systems, consumers remain largely unimpressed and unwilling to pay premium prices for features they don't trust. This fascinating disconnect forms the centerpiece of our discussion, where we explore why only 24% of drivers feel these technologies make them better drivers. The conversation takes a practical turn as our hosts share their firsthand experiences with these systems. From automatic emergency braking that unexpectedly activates while backing out of driveways to start-stop technology that most immediately disable, we dive into the frustrations of modern automotive tech. There's a clear theme throughout: drivers still want to drive, not be driven. What makes this technological debate particularly significant is the massive financial stakes involved. Tesla charges $8,000 upfront for its "Full Self-Driving" package, Mercedes-Benz asks $2,500 for Drive Pilot, and GM anticipates $2 billion in annual revenue from Super Cruise within five years. But will consumers actually pay these prices when current experiences leave them underwhelmed?Between recalled vehicles with brake fluid leaks and our popular "Guess the Used Car Price" segment featuring classic cars like the '53 DeSoto Fire Dome and '65 Mustang convertible, we explore what truly matters to automotive enthusiasts. We wrap up with a nostalgic look at 1970s car poses and the best July 4th driving destinations across Texas. Then, Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, gives us his analysis of the political side of the issue.Theodore Postol is Professor of Science, Technology and National Security Policy Emeritus in the Program in Science, Technology, and Society at MIT. His expertise is in nuclear weapon systems, including submarine warfare, applications of nuclear weapons, ballistic missile defense, and ballistic missiles more generally. No one at that point after the attack could have known whether or not there was success of any kind, even if there was success. And I doubt there was any success.Theodore PostolThe Israelis have done everything in their power to create an internal argument among the political leadership in Iran to proceed to build a nuclear weapon so that this kind of thing won't happen again. So the Israeli grand strategy, if you want to call it that, shows no intelligence or thought of any kind.Theodore PostolTrita Parsi is the executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, and the co-founder and former President of the National Iranian American Council. He is an expert on US-Iranian relations, Iranian foreign policy, and the geopolitics of the Middle East. He has authored three books on US foreign policy in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Iran and Israel— Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States, A Single Roll of the Dice – Obama's Diplomacy with Iran, and Losing an Enemy: Obama, Iran and the Triumph of Diplomacy.Israel is not enhancing American power in the Middle East. Israel is consuming it.Trita Parsi, Executive VP of the Quincy Institute for Responsible StatecraftIf the (Iranian regime) were to collapse it would most likely be because there would be an internal coup. And the next regime would be coming from the very same regime. It would just be a much more aggressive and hardline.Trita Parsi20 Worst Recent Trump Headlines1. After a brutal initial barrage by the United States, followed by tit-for-tat exchanges between Israel and Iran, the U.S. is seeking to broker a ceasefire between the two states. On Truth Social, Trump posted “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave' to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!” Just hours after this however, Israel did in fact bomb targets in Tehran, per Reuters. Israel also claims to have intercepted missiles fired from Iran following the ceasefire agreement. In the wake of the initial attacks, journalist Séamus Malekafzali reported that the “Iranian communist party Tudeh and the Communist Party of Israel [Hadash] release[d] a joint statement condemning the Israeli war on Iran, saying Israel's intent is to make the region ‘bow down to [US] imperialism' and that the only solution is full nuclear disarmament in the Middle East.” Israel's nuclear capabilities are an open secret in Washington, with estimates that the country possess between 90 and 400 nuclear warheads.2. In Congress, Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia has put forth a War Powers resolution in an attempt to check Trump's unilateral escalation in Iran. According to Newsweek, he expects to get Republican votes in the Senate. In the House, the effort is led by Reps. Ro Khanna and maverick Republican Thomas Massie, whom Trump has become so enraged with that he recently launched a PAC to oust him from his seat, per Axios. Meanwhile, AOC issued a statement reading, “The President's disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.” Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, asked about AOC's impeachment comments, replied “No, no, that's a big threshold to cross,” per David Weigel.3. The escalation in Iran has exposed fissures in Trump's orbit. PBS reports major MAGA figures like Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor-Greene are openly opposed, while Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has reportedly drawn Trump's ire for a string of comments out of step with the administration's messaging, starting with a video earlier this month in which she accused “political elites and warmongers [of] carelessly fomenting fear and tension between nuclear powers,” per the Independent. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been iced out completely, according to the Washington Post.4. In more news concerning the administration, the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) has published a new report, finding that “Stephen Miller…Trump's powerful deputy chief of staff and homeland security advisor…has a personal financial stake…[of] up to a quarter million dollars of stock in Palantir.” POGO describes Palantir, the shadowy tech company founded by rightwing tech oligarch Peter Thiel, as “woven into the operations of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and used by other federal agencies such as the Pentagon.” POGO and other experts see this as a glaring potential conflict of interest. In an almost darkly comedic twist, “Democratic lawmakers have recently sought information from Palantir, [but] they are in the minority and cannot compel the company to produce records. A person who could is Representative James Comer (R-KY), the chairman of the [House] oversight committee...However, Comer bought…Palantir stock the day after Trump's inauguration…his only stock trade that day.” Palantir is the second-best-performing S&P 500 stock in 2025, with shares up 74% year-to-date, per Business Insider.5. In a rare case of corruption actually being prosecuted, the New York Times reports former New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez reported for his eleven-year prison sentence on June 17th. “After a nine-week trial in Manhattan, Mr. Menendez…became the only U.S. senator ever to be convicted of acting as an agent of a foreign government,” after taking part in a “yearslong bribery conspiracy” that included payoffs in the form of “kilo bars of gold, a Mercedes-Benz convertible and more than $480,000 in cash.” Menendez is now incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution, Schuylkill, a medium-security federal prison in Minersville, Pennsylvania. He has been assigned the prisoner number 67277-050.6. In other news, POLITICO reports, “FICO plans to launch a suite of credit scores later this year that incorporate [Buy Now Pay Later or BNPL] data, providing lenders a window into…consumers' repayment behavior on these increasingly popular installment loans.” As BNPL data has not been included in credit reporting before, this has become known as “phantom debt…a gigantic black box…[and] largely unregulated.” This story notes that the Trump administration CFPB has “dropped planned enforcement of a Biden administration rule that would have treated BNPL providers like credit card companies,” subjecting this industry to daylight and financial regulation. The administration's abandonment of this rule mirrors their declassification of cryptocurrency as securities in order to skirt SEC oversight. Many questions remain over how exactly BNPL data will factor into consumers' credit scores, but many are bracing for this data to reveal a growing chasm of consumer debt underpinning the already shaky economic picture.7. Meanwhile Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University student and activist abducted by ICE on the eve of his son's birth – despite being a legal permanent resident – has finally been freed. Khalil was held in federal immigration detention in Louisiana for 104 days, per AP. Following his release, Khalil said “Justice prevailed, but it's very long overdue.” Khalil's legal battle will continue. Khalil stated in an interview with NPR, “My release is just the first step. The legal fight is still very, very long. The administration appealed the decision about my release, but we will prove our case – that what happened…was textbook retaliation against the First Amendment, that I was targeted because of speech the government did not like, and that there was nothing wrong with the speech I was engaged in. I want to make sure that everyone who contributed to my arrest will be held accountable.”8. Backlash to Trump's immigration policies is not confined to the political and legal realms either. Newsweek reports that the new Pope, Leo XIV, has “called for priests, deacons and parish leaders to accompany migrants to court and stand in solidarity with them.” This is an encouraging sign for those who hoped Leo would follow in the footsteps of Pope Francis. It also puts the new Pope at odds with more conservative American Catholics, such as Vice-President JD Vance who converted in adulthood. In May, Leo's brother John Prevost told New York Times that the new Pope, “has great, great desire to help the downtrodden and the disenfranchised, the people who are ignored.”9. In another immigration flashpoint, “A gang of masked federal agents swarmed, manhandled, and detained New York City Comptroller Brad Lander…as he sought to assist a defendant out of immigration court,” according to the American Prospect. The Prospect notes this arrest is “the latest instance of political violence against opposition party members, which has included the arrests of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver…the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan…and the brief detention of Sen. Alex Padilla.” Lander was released several hours after he was detained, when New York Governor Kathy Hochul showed up in person to demand his release. She called his arrest “b******t.” Later, in an interview with Joe Gallina, Lander said, “Courts tell undocumented immigrants their cases are ‘dismissed.' But what they really dismiss… is their asylum status. Then ICE grabs them. No lawyer. No warning.”10. Finally, 33-year-old democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani trounced disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday, winning by a completely unforeseen seven-point landslide. Polls up to election day showed Cuomo winning, some by as much as 24 points. Mamdani, a state legislator since 2021, ran on a platform of affordability, including making city buses free, establishing city-owned grocery stores and freezing the rent for all stabilized tenants. This platform – paired with cogent messaging, an extraordinary grassroots organizing campaign and shrewd alliances with other progressive candidates like Brad Lander – won the day for Zohran. However, an air of uncertainty about November remains. Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams still plans to run for reelection as an independent and Cuomo hasn't ruled out doing the same, per the Hill. While many who endorsed or donated to Cuomo in the primary – some now openly admitting they merely did so out of fear of reprisal – have switched their allegiance to Mamdani, some are maintaining a hostile posture towards the presumptive Democratic nominee. There is no doubt this story will proceed in dramatic fashion. This has been Francesco DeSantis, with In Case You Haven't Heard. Jill and Tom opened up the show by clarifying a point made last week. Indeed, the only Mercedes-Benz wagon offered for sale in the U.S. is the “All-Terrain” variant of the midsize E-class. Tom noted similar wagon offering limitations in the Volvo, Audi, and BMW lineups. The hosts also chatted briefly about Ram's extended powertrain warranty which takes effect for the 2026 model year. Listen in to hear how the new protection plan, combined with the newly available Hemi engine, might spark sales for the truck maker. Still in the fist segment, Jill reviews the Cadillac Optiq electric compact crossover. In the second segment Jill and Tom welcome Patrick Masterson of Cars.com. Patrick shared findings found in the Cars 2025 American Made Index. Which vehicles are the “most American?” Listen in for details. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Honda CR-V Hybrid or Not?” quiz. Jill wrapped up the show discussing an elderly acquaintance's troubling dealership experience.
1. Plazos de renovación. 2. La trampa de la moda. 3. Innovación: Adelantarte a tu tiempo. 4. Exclusividad: Lo minoritario se cotiza. 5. Fiabilidad: Condición “sine qua non”. 6. La competición: El deporte rejuvenece. 7. Imagen “de marca” potente. 8. Ayuda del fabricante… para cuidar tu coche. 9.
Jill opened the show briefly recapping here recent travels. Jill's been on the road training for the next edition of the Rebelle Rally, this time with a new driver/partner and new vehicle. Listen in for details. Tom shared details of a major industry merger, though most consumers won't be affected. Still, it does involve Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. Tom shared news regarding the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer EV. One version goes away; one seriously high-performance variant is added to the lineup. Both hosts shared their takes on the all-new 2025 Nissan Murano midsize 2-row crossover. For the most part the new midsize crossover is an upgrade over the previous edition, though Jill has a specific complaint. In the second segment, Jill and Tom are joined by Patrick George of InsideEVs. Patrick recently spent a couple of weeks in China learning about the country's EV products and market environment. Listen in for some fascinating insights regarding how the Chinese are succeeding at building and selling electric vehicles. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Q1 Sales!” quiz.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Saturday morning, the 14th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. I want us to go to the Book of Philippians 4:19: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” All your needs, not all our wants, no, but all our needs! I want to talk to you today about tools. You must have the right tools for the job. We need the tools for the work that God has called us to, and in Philippians 4:19, He has already told us that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I had a tremendous desire, I still do, to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Central Africa, and the Gospel is the Word, and the Word, according to Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” I had a dream to have a huge truck and I would call it the Seed-Sower. I think you've heard about it! Yes, a 20-ton Mercedes Benz, 4 x 4 truck. 32 gears in that truck, an 80 kilowatt lighting plant on the back, a platform that came down from the side that could accommodate a whole band and the preacher, and one name on the side, “JESUS”, that's all. The colour? Bright yellow because they tell me that that is the colour that is easiest to identify, especially when you are reading. It even had 4 diesel tanks. It could go almost through a whole country without having to refill. It had a water tank on the back because many places we visited had water that was not drinkable, and it supplied all of our needs: to shower, to cook, and to drink. There we went out and took Bibles, thousands of Bibles and tracts and Christian books. We took food and clothes. The funny thing is, they never wanted the food and the clothes so much, but they wanted the Word of God, the Bible. We had the tools of the trade and then by faith we went out into unreached people groups where the Gospel had not been heard before, a most incredible experience, little children running out of their huts, never having seen a white man before. It was quite amazing and so open and so loving. Sowing good seed because we had the right tools! Get the right tools first before you do the job. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
The "Golden Age of Auto Racing" began after World War II and lasted until the early Seventies. It's a period that is frequently romanticized. But that thin veneer was shattered at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the afternoon of June 11, 1955, when a catastrophic collision caused the deaths of Mercedes-Benz driver Pierre Levegh and at least 83 spectators. Here's the story of that terrible day and its aftermath. This episode was originally released in 2022 and is now updated and remastered.SUPPORT THE POD:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/hpheritageSUBSCRIBE to Horsepower Heritage on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@horsepowerheritageFIND US ON THE WEB:https://www.horsepowerheritage.comINSTAGRAM: @horsepowerheritageHORSEPOWER HERITAGE is created, produced and hosted by Maurice Merrick.Get in touch with Maurice:https://horsepowerheritage.com/contactSupport the showHELP us grow the audience! BREAK: TIDWELL TREES_FINAL STORY 1: Cobb Students Receive College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarships Fourteen Cobb County students have earned college-sponsored scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Program, part of over 2,900 winners nationwide this year. These scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,000 annually, are funded by 146 colleges and universities. Recipients were selected from 2025 National Merit Finalists based on academic excellence, recommendations, and test scores. The winners, representing schools like Lassiter, Walton, and Wheeler High, plan to pursue diverse fields such as engineering, law, genetics, and marine biology. By the program’s end, over 6,930 students will have received scholarships totaling nearly $26 million. STORY 2: Judge Pauses State Sanctions put on Cobb, Cities Sanctions cutting off state funding for Cobb County and its seven cities have been paused by a Cobb Superior Court ruling. The sanctions stemmed from Mableton and Cobb County missing a May 31 deadline to finalize a Service Delivery Strategy agreement. Mableton initially rejected the $9.5 million deal but later approved a revised version, allowing more time for payment. The court ruled the sanctions would harm Cobb’s 800,000 residents, halting state support for infrastructure, public safety, and more. If the agreement is finalized soon, sanctions could lift by July 1. Mableton plans to create a special service district to fund its payment. The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
Shoot us a Text.Episode #1061: China's rare earth restrictions are causing real pain for Europe's automakers, Costco's gas game and checkout tech are stepping up, and American shoppers are oddly calm about rising tariffs—at least for now.Show Notes with links:China's tightened grip on rare earth exports is starting to squeeze Europe's auto manufacturing sector. With critical materials stuck in red tape and only a quarter of export licenses approved, major OEMs and suppliers are bracing for broader production halts in the coming weeks.CLEPA, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers, says hundreds of export license requests were submitted, but only 25% approved since April.Parts plant shutdowns are already affecting suppliers to VW, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Bosch. The slowdown stems from China's April decision to suspend exports of rare earths and magnets amid a trade standoff with the U.S.Delays in customs clearance and license processing are compounding the issue, say VDA (the German Automotive Industry Association) and CLEPA.China may ease restrictions for certain European semiconductor firms, but auto remains at risk.“Production delays and even production outages can no longer be ruled out,” said VDA President Hildegard Mueller.America's third-largest retailer is leaning into its members-first model. Costco is expanding hours at gas stations, testing scan-and-go checkout tech, and adding flexible payment options to stay competitive in a tightening retail race.Gas stations now open nationwide until 10 p.m., with select sites opening earlier too.CEO Rob Vachris says the goal is to drive more foot—and fuel—traffic by boosting convenience.Gas accounted for 12% of Costco's total sales in 2024, thanks to exclusive member access and competitive prices.“Scan & Pay” via smartphone is being piloted to streamline checkout, competing with Sam's Club's tech-forward edge.Costco has also teamed with Affirm for monthly payment plans as shoppers look beyond credit cards.A new survey by Modern Retail highlights that while many Americans are concerned about rising costs and tariffs, their spending behavior has yet to shift significantly.76% of surveyed consumers said they were familiar with recent tariffs; over half believe tariffs increase prices for everyday goods.Despite that concern, 40% reported no notable changes in their purchasing habits.A majority of respondents said they were either delaying planned purchases due to higher prices or had already bought items early to avoid anticipated tariff-related cost increases.Electronics and clothing were identified as the most likely categories to see reduced spending.Over half of respondents expressed optimism about their financial outlook for the next six months.Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

In some of Hollywood's best-loved movies, Jack Nicholson played jokers, sailors, inmates – even the Devil himself. But he never played by the rules. He allegedly mooned a crowd of thousands at a basketball game. His bedroom kinks were laid bare in the papers. He fought the MPAA and the LAPD. And in 1994, he attempted to establish his own set of rules when he attacked an idling Mercedes-Benz with a two-iron. This episode contains themes that may be disturbing to some listeners, including sexual assault and child sexual abuse.
