Julia and Christian Zielinski of ARTIS Guitar Duo were booked to play at the 20th Ullapool Guitar Festival in October 2019. They played a fantastic concert on the Friday night. And what a venue! The festival is held in the Macphail Centre in Ullapool and the theatre is quite intimate. Not to mention the fact that the audience is made up of guitar nerds who know how to keep quiet and listen. The atmosphere was wonderful! I recorded a conversation with Julia and Christian on the Saturday afternoon and it was really lovely to hear some of their story to complement the music I'd heard the night before. I recorded his performance on video and will be posting them up on my YouTube channel over the coming days. I've published one already, my favourite of his - This is the Beginning, a powerful song inspired by his mother as a young lass and her ringing a bell in the tower of a small French village. Speaking to Gordon was a real treat for me as he was part of the 60s acoustic folk boom in London in the late 1960s and played in the company of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn. I bought my first guitar after hearing Bert's documentary Acoustic Routes. We spoke of many things, including the London scene and his new signature Fylde guitar.
