Mark and Mat record live during the Rays vs. Royals Wednesday night game, the fourth and final game of a tough homestand series that Tampa Bay lost three games to one. The score at wrap-up is 5-3 in favor of the Rays heading into the final out of the ninth.Topics CoveredRays June Struggles The guys break down a rough June for Tampa Bay, noting the team has been burning through its early-season buffer. Mat walks through the slugging numbers for the month, where league average sits at .400. Only four Rays batters are above that mark in June: Ryan Vilade (.581), Junior Caminero (.461), Yandy Diaz (.453), and Cedric Mullins (.407). Jonathan Aranda and several others are well below .300, pointing to a lineup in a collective funk.Player HighlightsChandler Simpson makes a strong catch after an earlier error and bounces back with a single at the plateJohnny DeLuca returns and brings energy back to the outfieldJunior Caminero continues to lead All-Star voting at third base and is discussed as a possible Home Run Derby participantRoster Moves The Rays DFA Dom Keegan to acquire right-handed pitcher Chris Roycroft from the Cardinals. Mat profiles Roycroft as a Kyle Snyder-type project at 6'8", comparing his pitch mix to Manuel Rodriguez and his build and arm angle to former Ray Aaron Slegers. Mat notes the Rays may look to add a changeup to Roycroft's repertoire and suggests Keegan could be traded to a team needing first base depth, with the Mets mentioned as a possible destination.Trade Deadline Talk: Byron Buxton Mat makes the case for the Rays pursuing Twins outfielder Byron Buxton. Key points:Buxton is signed at $15 million per year through 2028He has stayed healthy the last two seasonsA package of Cedric Mullins and Jacob Melton could be the framework of a dealAdding Buxton alongside Caminero, Diaz, and Aranda would give Tampa a genuinely fearsome lineupJacob Melton is currently excelling in AAA and is expected to be called up or used as trade bait in early July.Pitching Depth Discussion of starter innings limits and how the Rays are managing their rotation. The Giants are dangling arms including Robbie Ray, though Mat suspects the Rays will prioritize lineup help over adding a starter. Brian Baker is discussed as a more confident and committed closer Minor League Notes The Bowling Green Hot Rods are 51 and 19.  The Rays have 15 hitters with an OPS above .800 and more than 100 at bats across their minor league system this season, with only six of those above Double-A.FIFA World Cup Mark and Mat take a detour to discuss the World Cup taking place across the US. Mat talks about attending games in Vancouver with Canadian military personnel, eating barbecue around the clock. They note that the lower alcohol content in American beer has European and Canadian fans drinking more than usual and draining Boston breweries. All three host nations (US, Mexico, Canada) advance out of the group stage. Mat reflects on never seeing Canadian men's soccer at this level in his lifetime, with the team ranked in the top 30 globally.Women's Baseball Mark reminds listeners that the Women's Pro Baseball League launches in August in Springfield, Illinois - https://www.womensprobaseballleague.com/ Women's Baseball Classic group stage takes place in Rockford, Illinois in approximately one month. - https://www.iwbc.org/worldcup/ Local Recognition The Rays recognize the University of Tampa Spartans for their NCAA Division II baseball three-peat and St. Leo's women's softball team for their Division II championship. Mark also mentions a recent conversation with Genelle Helen Garverick about the history of women's softball in the area dating back to the 1940s & 1950's.Remember to like and subscribe to BaseballBiz On Deck. I've mentioned this before, but WVU baseball has a recent history of diverse rosters, including several African American players on their teams; S/O to my guy @ttuck_5 for putting me on this game. This year's WVU team features three Black starters (Guzman, Smith, Hall), and they all put in major work yesterday in Omaha. WVU beat Troy, and UNC beat the University of Mississippi (I've recently been put on game and will stop referring to them as O.. M..). In the MLB, Buxton, Wood, Walker, Matthews, Lewis, Naylor, and several more Black players made an impact. And S/O to the USMNT on their dominant debut victory last night. Chancery Royalty targets fivefold growth as it builds a Gold and Silver royalty portfolio

Proactive - Interviews for investors

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 9, 2026 3:46

Chancery Royalty CEO Jeremy Gray joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company's strategy of building a leading precious metals royalty business focused exclusively on gold and silver assets. Backed by a management team with decades of mine-building and operational experience, the company is positioning itself to capitalize on attractive royalty opportunities that may be overlooked by larger competitors in the sector. Gray explained that the leadership team brings an extensive track record of success in the mining industry, having previously helped develop and operate several notable gold companies and projects, including Pilar Gold, Laiva Gold in Finland, Tucano Gold, Great Panther, and Gold Road in Arizona. Having gained firsthand experience creating value through mine development and operations, the team is now applying that expertise to the royalty business model, which offers exposure to production growth while minimizing operational and capital risks. Chancery Royalty currently holds five royalty assets, one of which is already generating revenue through production. The remaining four assets are expected to advance into production over the next 12 to 18 months, creating the potential for a growing stream of royalty income as development milestones are achieved. The company's investment strategy is focused exclusively on gold and silver royalties, targeting opportunities that offer meaningful gold equivalent ounce growth potential. Gray noted that Chancery seeks assets that may not attract the attention of larger royalty companies but still possess strong fundamentals, development pathways, and the potential to generate significant long-term value. One of the company's most significant recent transactions was a US$20 million royalty agreement with KEFI Copper and Gold involving a major project in Ethiopia. Gray described the asset as “probably the best undeveloped gold mine in Africa,” highlighting its scale and development potential. The transaction is expected to add approximately 7,000 GEOs to Chancery's portfolio, representing a substantial increase in future royalty exposure. The KEFI transaction aligns with Chancery's broader growth objective of expanding its royalty portfolio from approximately 4,000 GEOs today to 20,000 GEOs within the next two years. Management believes achieving this target would significantly increase the company's revenue potential and establish a stronger foundation for long-term growth. Gray also discussed additional royalty opportunities currently under evaluation. These include recent activity involving Buxton, as well as prospective transactions in key mining jurisdictions such as Timmins, one of Canada's most prolific gold-producing districts. The company is also reviewing another near-term production royalty opportunity that could further accelerate portfolio growth. Happy Friday, daylight burners! Matt and Eric ride solo today (Jake's back Sunday) to recap a rough Thursday on the homer front and set up a loaded Rivalry Weekend. The A's drop a 5-4 heartbreaker to the Cardinals — Kurtz extends his on-base streak to 37 games with a leadoff bomb (two shy of Giambi's '98 A's record), but the bullpen coughs up the lead. The Rockies get rolled 7-2 in Pittsburgh as Ryan O'Hearn goes 3-for-4 with a two-run shot and Chase Dollander exits early with right forearm soreness. The Tigers get swept by the Mets 9-4, A.J. Ewing's first big league homer caps the Mets' five-homer barrage, and Hinch gets tossed (on a hot mic) over a blown replay at third. Around the league: Chase Burns deals 6 IP, 2 H for the Reds in a 15-1 dismantling of the Nationals (JJ Bleday — back-to-back jacks, 6 RBI), Zebby Matthews tosses 7 shutout in his spot start for the Twins, Schwarber breaks up a pitchers' duel with an 8th-inning bomb at Fenway, Brewers handle the Padres 7-1, Mariners take down Houston 8-3 (Cal Raleigh to the IL with a right oblique), Cubs avoid the sweep 2-1 in Atlanta behind Ben Brown's 4 IP, 1 H, 7 K, White Sox keep rolling over the Royals, and the Dodgers retake the NL West lead with a 5-2 win over the Giants. The global refugee regime has shifted under our feet. Over the last forty years, international asylum practices have expanded to include the queer and trans displaced. Yet amid this expansion, backlash has intensified against refugee protection as well as the hard-earned rights of LGBTIQ people. In this disquieting context, the protection of LGBTIQ refugees remains partial and exclusionary. The Way Out: Justice in the Queer Search for Refuge (University of California Press, 2026) examines the complexities of queer and trans displacement around the world. The global refugee regime has shifted under our feet. Over the last forty years, international asylum practices have expanded to include the queer and trans displaced. At least thirty-seven countries now recognize LGBTIQ refugees on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, with some states providing specialized support. Centering personal narratives of LGBTIQ refugees, the book exposes the shortcomings of an international protection regime that is unable to address the harms that drive displacement. Rebecca Buxton and Samuel Ritholtz's analysis of the stakes of queer and trans inclusion in accounts of displacement justice offers a vibrant example of theory brought to life. This interview was conducted by Dr. Hannah Pool, a senior researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Studies of Societies. Her research focuses on human mobilities and her new book has been published in 2025 by Oxford University Press. Learn more about your ad choices. Two weeks ago, the first ever TexStyle Festival threw open its doors at Manchester Central. It was an amazing weekend of creativity, community and lots and lots of chatting! It was the idea of the mother and daughter team behind the Buxton, Cumbria & Stafford Wool Gatherings, (Michelle Greaves and her Mum, Carole) to create a bigger show encompassing other textile and fibre crafts in their home town of Manchester. It did not disappoint, it featured dozens of stands showcasing beautiful crafts and items to buy, a range of fabulous workshops, a break-out zone called ‘The Hive' where visitors could escape the busyness and just sit and chat and even work on their wips. Plus there was a Textile Talks stage hosted by yours truly which showcased some fabulous creative folk speaking on their specialist subjects. I was thrilled and very honoured to be asked to host the Textile Talks stage, and loved every minute of it. In this episode you can hear from all of the speakers who stepped up to the mic over the weekend along with other exhibitors too.My thanks to everyone who spoke to me for this episode of Making Stitches Podcast! emocleW, emocleW, emocleW to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This is your bonus FRIDAY REWIND episode! Today, we catch up with Joe Cornish, originally episode 253 from 2019-02-15.Original writeup below:Consider this the counterpart to the much earlier Adam Buxton episode, if you will, what with Joe being Adam long term co-conspirator and collaborator! Between them they very much had a hand in those early days of podcasting, which was something of a direct offshoot of radio but with a very creative and premeditated approach, not to mention their amazing TV work… With both of them going their separate ways and moving onto a ton of incredible work between them, it's been hugely inspiring to see the individual sides of the two, and Joe breaks down his recent work and creative projects including of course, ‘Attack The Block' and brand new film ‘The Kid Who Would Be King' (showing by the time you read this)! Hear Joe go in on everything else besides too, including film reactions from kids, violence in modern kids films, how he valued seeing himself in kids films (as a young'un), the “Supermarket Sweep of hell” of an approaching film deadline and its many intangible obstacles, how it's tough to truly enjoy your own film creations as you know too much about them and his own Super8 films back in the day, made with pals Buxton and Louis Theroux! A lot packed into a shorter episode - you'll dig it for certain!PIP'S PATREON PAGE if you're of a supporting natureJOE CORNISH on THE INTERNETTHE KID WHO WOULD BE KINGIMDBPIP TWITCH • (music stuff)PIP INSTAGRAMSPEECH DEVELOPMENT WEBSTOREPIP TWITTERPIP IMDB Hosted on Acast. What happens when three fantasy baseball experts draft four teams each? Joe Bond, AJ Applegarth, and Corey Pieper run a live 12-team mock draft, debating every pick in real time, from Shohei Ohtani at #1 to the chaos of finding a second baseman past Round 7. The guys battle through eight rounds of sniping each other's targets, defending controversial picks, and revealing their actual draft strategies. AJ goes Judge-Lindor-Sanchez-Mookie Betts for a Yankees/Mets powerhouse. Corey builds the injury-risk all-star team with Acuña, Harper, Byron Buxton, and Jacob deGrom. Joe reaches for George Springer in Round 5 ("If I can get 25/15 out of him, I'm good") and takes three pitchers in a row (Rounds 4-5-6). O'Neal Cruz: Joe scrolls past him for Riley Greene ("God, no") Controversial picks: AJ takes Crochet early, then admits "I'm regretting it" by Round 4 Corey's injury-prone team: Acuña, Buxton, Harper, deGrom, Christian Yelich Joe: "I just went three pitchers in a row. I don't think I've ever done that." This is the fifth episode in a new season of our Main Street NC series. We're visiting communities across the state to hear from local leaders about the issues and challenges they're facing.About 20 beach houses have recently collapsed into the ocean in Buxton on the Outer Banks. Local leaders there say the cause isn't just climate change or sea-level rise. They blame a deteriorating jetty installed by the U.S. Navy decades ago to protect a Cold War submarine monitoring station. Local and federal officials have responded to the rapid erosion by promising beach renourishment and jetty repairs, but those projects might not be a long-term solution for one of North Carolina's most fragile beach communities. To learn more about Buxton's beach erosion problems and what comes next, WUNC News' Colin Campbell visited the community and spoke with Buxton Civic Association President Heather Jennette and Vice President Brian Harris.

The lads start the pod with Jack discussing his decision to drop into semi-pro football for the first time in his career and why the transition has been much easier than anticipated. Jack then talks the lads through his early life in football playing for Sheffield Wednesday, tough tackles from David Prutton and having imposter syndrome when playing for the first team. The trio then chat in depth about the difficulties young players face when adapting to men's football, why the lower leagues are tougher than people think and do academy players carry too much ego? They then chat about Jack's time at Oldham and why despite being close off the pitch they couldn't make it work on the pitch and the feeling of suffering relegations and turmoil times at both Oldham & Torquay. The lads then discuss how Jack found his love for the game whilst playing non-league for both Matlock & Buxton, the challenges that came with playing in the National League North and why he isn't closing the door on full time football. Finally they end the pod talking about his life at Curzon Ashton, aspirations for the season and why there's such a good feel food factor around the place.

Kurt Kitayama finished a sizzling weekend with a final-round 65 to win the 3M Open on Sunday, beating Sam Stevens by one stroke for his second PGA TOUR victory.Kitayama, who shot a career-best and tournament-record-tying 60 on Saturday to enter the final round within one of the leaders, birdied six of the first eight holes to build a cushion on a 91-degree afternoon at the TPC Twin Cities.“Getting off to a start like that kind of helps settle you down,” Kitayama said. “Final round, second-to-last group, theres definitely some nerves.”Joe Ryan delivered his worst start in nearly two months during a 9-3 loss to the Washington Nationals and Byron Buxton exited Saturday night's game because of left side soreness. It was a tough day for the Twins' two All-Star players, and an ugly performance for a struggling team attempting to stay afloat in the wild-card standings.“We've been playing some pretty good fundamental baseball,” manager Rocco Baldelli said. “Today was not that.”Buxton didn't return to the field after the sixth inning, but Baldelli said Buxton was “relatively upbeat” when they chatted during the game. Buxton, who made a leaping catch at the center field wall in the first inning, will undergo medical imaging Sunday morning.
