Host Diana Korte speaks with Artis Henderson whose newest title, “NO ORDINARY BIRD. Drug Smuggling, a Plane Crash, and a Daughter's Quest for the Truth,” is a page-turning true crime book based on personal history, interviews with long-lost family members (and co-conspirators), along with government records.   They all illuminate the life of her experienced pilot dad, Lamar Chester, who died in his private plane that was very likely sabotaged—and what lead up to that event.  The author who was 5 years old then was with him, but survived with injuries.   Her father had been one of the biggest marijuana smugglers in Miami in the 1970s. At the time of his death, he was about to testify in a US trial that had swept up politicians, a prime minister, and Colombian drug cartels. We explored the deep benefits of dry fasting, including muscle preservation and fat loss. Sean also described using a pendulum to harmonize energy and reduce pain. He shared his experiences with mini-dosing LSD for creativity and focus. I learned about the importance of N of one experiments for personal health journeys. Key takeaways Grip strength is an indicator of longevity, and tests like the kettlebell mile assess both strength and aerobic capacity. A dopamine detox protocol can help reset your body and mental clarity. On today's show, we chat with Thunderstorm Artis!    Artis was born and raised in a large musical family on the North Shore of Oahu, and it's easy to find the laid-back vibe of island life effortlessly blended with the real life experiences that inspire his music. Darnell Artis was recently named the new head coach at Division III Gwynedd Mercy University in Montgomery County. This is a homecoming Artis, who was a star player for the Griffins and also spent time as an assistant coach for the program. Artis, who went to La Salle College High School, has spent the last several years as a member of the legendary Harlem Globetrotters. In Episode #260 of "1-on-1 with Matt Leon," Matt welcomes Artis in studio to talk about his life in basketball.
