I'm brought back "Cottage Cocktails"! I haven't posted a Cottage Cocktails mix since 2019, but after djing an amazing cottage tent wedding last summer, I was inspired to record a cocktail mix that would be the perfect soundtrack for that cottage setting (but the couple that weekend had their own plans for cocktail music) so the following weekend I recorded this during cocktails at a wedding downtown Toronto. Recorded in the big city, but this is meant to be listened to up in Muskoka, or at the very least while floating in a pool, or perhaps just sitting around a backyard bonfire (or sipping on a coffee or tea in your favourite comfy chair). Perfect laid back vibes as we say goodbye to summer and hello to sweater weather. Hope you enjoy! Also, I'm sorry I'm so behind here on podomatic. Both of these fabulous novels ask what music costs, what it gives, and who gets to be heard. (Mormonish has had many people reach out and ask about this episode since I mentioned it on The Mormon Newscast. Because of renewed interest, we're reposting it a year and a half later.)A favorite Mormonish returning guest, Rob Lauer, told us about his experiences as a theater major at BYU in the early 1980s. The late 1970s and 1980s were a difficult time for LGBT students who were attending BYU. They were hunted down and entrapped and forced to live a hidden life or be removed from school. Rob described an off campus house, affectionately called, "The Beaver Cleaver" house, where several LGBT theater majors lived together and dealt with the difficult environment that existed at BYU during that time. The bright spot in this whole era was their connection with each other and the life long friendships they formed. We asked Rob if he thought his former roommates might ever consider coming on our podcast to share their experiences. Rob told us he was in contact with these wonderful men, but they had never spoken publicly about that era at BYU. But he would ask them. Unbelievably, the roommates felt ready to tell their stories and we are so honored to have them on Mormonish Podcast as they reconnect with each other, reminisce, work through some difficult trauma, and share their wonderful humor and positive outlook today even as they look back on the pain they experienced. Storytelling folk troubadour and songwriter's songwriter David Wilcox dives deep on his creative process.PART ONE:Paul and Scott pay tribute to the late Kris Kristofferson and Hugh Prestwood before diving in to a cringey lyrical trend that they're happy to see fade into history. PART TWO:Our in-depth conversation with David WilcoxABOUT DAVID WILCOX:Emerging from the Asheville, North Carolina progressive folk scene in the late 1980s, David Wilcox signed with A&M Records and carved out a reputation as an insightful, sensitive, and often funny singer-songwriter and storyteller. His first album for the label, How Did You Find Me Here, sold over 100,000 copies on word of mouth alone. Often compared to James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake, Wilcox went on to build a dedicated following and establish himself as a songwriter's songwriter. In 2008 he was honored, alongside Bob Dylan, with Acoustic Guitar magazine's silver award in the singer-songwriter category. The San Francisco Chronicle called him the “darling of contemporary singer-songwriter folk” while Rolling Stone wrote that he “uses extended metaphors and beautifully detailed imagery in lyrics that are far more compassionate and philosophic than self-absorbed.” David has now released more than 20 albums. His most recent is My Good Friends, an acoustic collection that he describes as a fan-requested respite while he works on a new full band album.

Cosmic Bos have been exploring the wonders of ASMR music, Andy has been doing ASMR David Battenberg Cake work on TikTok for several months, as well as learning about the musical potentials for ASMR. This podcast is a special presentation by Cosmic Bos which explores some of these potentials. This is the full presentation, coming soon will be the 3 explorations seperated out into their unique properties. Firstly we have the Acoustic Guitar and Vocal work of Andy Jackson, then we have the Steel Drum experiments and the Kalima (finger piano) experiments too. Well, here is a little piece I (Andy) got A.I to write about it Unveiling the Mysteries of ASMR: The Gateway to Sensory Transcendence ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a phenomenon characterized by tingling sensations that typically begin on the scalp and move down the neck and spine. These triggers, whether in the form of whispering, tapping, or crinkling sounds, have the power to evoke a deeply relaxing and pleasurable response in individuals. The enigmatic allure of ASMR lies in its ability to tap into our senses with precision and delicacy, creating a profound connection between audio-visual stimuli and our emotional well-being. It serves as a portal through which individuals can escape the cacophony of daily life and find solace in the gentle whispers and subtle sounds that massage their senses. ASMR triggers, those specific sounds and actions that elicit tingling sensations, are as diverse as the individuals who experience them. From the soft brushing of fingertips to the rhythmic tapping of raindrops, these triggers have a unique capacity to provoke a heightened state of sensory awareness, transporting individuals to a realm of heightened receptivity. The spiritual underpinnings of ASMR extend beyond the realm of physical sensation, offering a gateway to transcendental experiences and heightened consciousness. The delicate dance of triggers and tingles creates a meditative space where individuals can explore the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, yielding a sense of inner peace and harmony. In the quest to harness the transformative power of ASMR for the betterment of humanity, we must delve deeper into the spiritual dimensions of this sensory phenomenon. By embracing the profound impact of ASMR on our emotional and spiritual well-being, we can unlock the potential for personal growth, healing, and self-discovery. As we immerse ourselves in the enchanting world of ASMR triggers and tingles, we embark on a journey of sensory exploration and enlightenment. By embracing the spiritual properties of ASMR, we open ourselves to a realm of profound sensory experiences that have the potential to reshape our understanding of the human psyche and the mysteries of our existence. Please consider giving us a like, share and subscribe And check out our other musical work on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon etc. Peace and infinite love Cosmic Bos
