Competitive eating with Food vs the beastJohn 'Dawsey' Dawes can be a real animal when it comes to consuming large amounts of... well just about anything you can put on a plate. We pitched Dawesy against experience funkster Josh Shea to get as much funk out as possible. Dawesy is the guy with a tattoo of Greggs (sandwich shop) on his arm.At the time of recording, Dawesy was second in the British eating league. His eating exploits have also lost him 6 stone. (84lbs/38kgs). So forget going on a diet, get eating... he assures us there is a book coming soon.Question 1Joshua chose the 'Cruise Ship'What takes up too much of your time?Dawsey was manipulated to chose 'Healthy Food'What would you do if you could do anything for a whole day?Question 2Johua picked the 'Queens'What do you find beautiful?Dawsey liked the 'Snowman'When did you last 'bunk off' early?Question 3The 'Fairground' was the next choice for JoshuaWhat is the most illegal thing you have everdone?Dawsey picked the 'Neon Cafe'What is at the end of the rainbow?Question 4Joshua wanted the 'Suitcase'What do you do when no-one is looking?Dawsey chose the 'Sheet Music'What have you recently formed an opinion about?Question 5Joshua picked the 'Bakelite Telephone'Where would you live if you had no ties to anywhere?Dawsey liked the 'Waves on the sea'What do you do while travelling? What is FunkQuest ?FunkQuest is a fun interactive online conversation game that features five rounds.Funksters (players) view a board containing 20 individual icons (pictures) Funksters select an icon from the board which most tweaks their interest. Each Funky icon, when chosen reveals a Funky question, which may or may not be related to the icon.Potential Funksters, have to think on their feet, answering the question within the strict time limit of one minute. We are looking for answers which might include; insights, useful and amusing snippets, and things we just didn't know. We call this FUNK.The winner - based on audience votes - goes through to the next round of the Funkquest series. What's so good about FUNKQUEST ?The strict time limit does not allow funksters to give; multi-headed, long, complicated and self indulgent stories - just short punchy bite-sized truly Funky ideas, as we GET THE FUNK OUT!You get to hear new ideas and speakers from outside your usual network, which truly qualifies as FUNKY.Funky Thinkers know that IDEAS only come from free-flowing CONVERSATION.To make sure you never miss a FunkQuest episode - click https://funkythinkers.com/youtubeWhat did you think ? In this episode, we chat to Will Dawes, CEO and co-founder of Mkango Resources, a junior miner developer in the Songwe Hill rare earths project in Malawi. A company that also has an extensive exploration portfolio in the country. Will has a background in geology and mineral exploration with a lengthy career in the resource sector, which encompassed investment banking, equity research, mineral exploration, mining, and metallurgy. For over a decade, Will has been at the helm of Mkango Resources. He gives us an insight into his journey, as well as an update on the company and the rare earths market.KEY TAKEAWAYS Malawi has been known as a rare-earth mineral province for many years. Exploration of the historic Songwe Hill rare earths project has yielded good results. Infrastructure has improved vastly. Mkango has a mine, refine, recycle strategy. The carbonate they have contains the full suite of rare earths and their approach is to refine as far downstream as possible to create as many products as possible. They plan to use nitric technology, which produces no liquid waste stream. Currently, less than 5% of rare-earth magnet elements are recycled, Mkango Resources plan to use the latest technology to start recycling far more of them. Mkango is working with university researchers to also start recycling magnetics and do so in a highly efficient way. They are examining working in partnership with other companies to open up new opportunities for both parties. The future for rare earths is extremely promising, demand is growing fast and is coming from multiple sources. BEST MOMENTS‘There are a number of carbonatite type deposits in Malawi. ´‘We will produce a purified mix of rare-earth carbonate from Malawi which contains the whole suite of rare-earths, a high-value product.'‘Ultimately, the vision for us is to be able to supply sustainably produced rare earths as well as recycled rare-earths.'‘By using a rare-earth permanent magnet motor, it means you can have a smaller battery for the same sort of efficiency.'EPISODE RESOURCESWebsite: https://www.mkango.ca/LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/company/mkango-resources-ltdTwitter: https://twitter.com/MkangoResourcesEmail: will@mkango.caVALUABLE RESOURCESmailto:rob@mining-international.orghttps://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/http://www.mining-international.orghttps://twitter.com/MiningConsulthttps://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.orghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3ABOUT THE HOSTRob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Episode 131 - Disney Legends! Disney Legends! Hey everyone, I'm Mike, she's Sophie, that's Brenda, and and he's Grogu, and we're On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 131 for July 25, 2022, and today our feature topic is Disney Legends! We've talked about Disney Legends previously. At the start of last year we talked about all of the Nine Old Men when Brenda joined us, and then later that year we talked about them some more when we looked at Fred MacMurray, Ub Iwerks, and Julie Andrews. Well, today we're continuing our look by focusing on Mr. Dick Van Dyke, Roger E. Broggie, and the incomperable Lillian Disney! Grab your favorite beverage, sit back, and relax, and tell us in the comments below what you think! Here's the rundown of what we talked about: Connect with us! We had a great response! Check out the answers we received:Sheila said “The salmon at the Hollywood Brown Derby in DHS . It was so tasty! The salmon was on a bed of rice in a pool of pesto; with a decorative piece of puff pastry.”Chandler chimed in: “We were on our last day and our last quick service meal during our 3-day visit in Jan, 2020. We were tired, hungry, ready to end our day, and simply needed something to eat. We didn't know anything about Satu'li Canteen, and just happened across it. This ended up being the absolute BEST meal we had. When we visit again in the future, Satu'li will most likely be in the MUST DO list.” – Chandler, from the picture it looks like the Combination Bowl: Grilled Beef & Chicken. Let me know if I'm wrong.Chrissy added her favorites: “The Gray Stuff, Homecoming's Deviled Eggs, Satuli's former Family Platter which had a little of everything on it, and Space 220's King Oyster Mushrooms.”My sister Robin added her Wowza food: “The salad at Liberty Tree Tavern! Stephanie and I scarfed that down like it was manna from Heaven!”Lastly, my friend Cindy added her pick: “It's just a little dessert, but the 50th anniversary lemon chiffon at Sunshine Seasons is amazing and gorgeous!”You can see some of the pictures that were shared with us over at the Facebook Group or you will also see some of them on our YouTube of the episode.Feature Topic: A Look at Disney Legends! This week on the podcast, we are taking another look at some of the incredible Disney Legends that have been selected over the years. Each of us has done our research on our pick and we are looking forward to sharing that with you. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do!Brenda: Dick Van DykeRichard Wayne “Dick” Van Dyke was born December 13, 1925 (just 11 days before my daddy) in West Plains, Missouri. He is an American actor, producer, comedian and writer. After serving in the Air Force during WWII, he and a friend formed a pantomime act, “The Merry Mules” and performed Laurel and Hardy-type performances in nightclubs across the country. He broke into television and in 1961 he was cast as comedy-writer Rob Petrie on the hit series The Dick Van Dyke Show.Although the show was a huge success, Walt Disney had never heard of him. When casting for Mary Poppins, Dick's name was suggested to Walt and after a private screening of an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, Walt chose him on the spot – no audition needed!Dick Van Dyke, of course, played Bert the Cockney chimney-sweep/kite-peddler/sidewalk artist/one-man band in the 1964 Academy-Award-Winning film, Mary Poppins (a film in which Walt Disney devoted four years of his life to creating). When Dick read the script, he decided he also wanted to play the part of the old bank chairman, Mr. Dawes. He told Walt, “I'd like to play Mr. Dawes – and I won't charge you a nickel.” Walt said,
