This interview is with Brian Zielinski of Scenic Valley Farms. In this interview, Brian shares about growing up on the farm and how wine worked its way into the family's livelihood. Brian talks about how grapes made their way into the family's farm. The farm was constantly rotating the crops to best utilize the land. From strawberries to beans to corn, the farm has seen a lot of produce. Once the farm settled on grapes, they realized they could coordinate with winemakers and make wine directly from their own fruit. The family planted grapes in 2008 and had their first successful harvest in 2012 after a comical, yet educational harvest in 2011. Brian discusses working with his father in the new venture of grapes and wine. Not a drinker himself, Bob Zielinski was skeptical about his son's new idea so Brian established the “hypothetical bridge” to lessen the familial head-bumping. After successfully planting grapes for whites, the farm purchased a vineyard to grow for reds. Now, the farm features their wines in a self-built tasting room on-site.Later in the interview, Brian talks about the reality of growing up on the farm. While there were difficult tasks, it taught him resilience and responsibility. He claims that he wouldn't have wanted to grow up in any other way. Some of his best memories were those he made on the farm with his father. These days, Brian is making memories working on the farm with his own children. His proudest moment was seeing his kids being excited about working on the farm. This interview was conducted by Rich Schmidt at Scenic Valley Farms in Gervais on June 4, 2026.

In a French mayoral election recently, the two candidates have the interesting names of Hitler and Zielinski. I couldn't pronounce their first names. They had a bitter battle in campaigning. They said the biggest thing to overcome was the fact that people were not interested in their political platforms and what they thought as much as they were just interested in their names, Hitler versus Zielinski. In a town of 2,800, people hope the attention will help the town economically. Hitler said that he thought about changing his name, but wanted to show everyone that somebody with that name could make something good out of it. That is a noble cause. What are you doing to make your name carry a better reputation? That's better than winning a political race.

Still. Tief. Und unglaublich berührend. Danke Marlies! In this episode, I sits down with Dr. Eric Zielinski ("Dr. Z") to discuss what inflammation really is, and why so many people today are dealing with it without even realizing it. What You'll Learn: The difference between normal and chronic inflammation Why so many people feel tired, foggy, and out of balance Common triggers: processed foods, sugar, stress, and toxins Simple steps to start reducing inflammation naturally Why whole foods (as God designed) matter How lifestyle—not just diet—affects your health Key Takeaway Inflammation is part of how the body heals. But when it becomes constant, it leads to breakdown. When you remove what's harming the body and support it the right way, healing can begin. Tyler Zielinski has built one of the most interesting careers in modern drinks. In this episode, Damian chats with the author of Tiny Cocktails about his path from early bartending roles in Boston, to advertising in New York, to becoming a writer, consultant, educator, and content creator working across the global drinks industry. They talk about what it really takes to build a career beyond the bar, why modern bartenders need to think differently about networking and visibility, and how Tyler carved out a lane that blends hospitality, media, and brand work. The conversation also digs into the rise of tiny cocktails — what they actually are, why they are more than just glorified shots, and how they can create real value for bars and guests alike. Tyler also shares how the book opened the door to projects like Wheels Up and the Up Mini Bar, showing how one idea can evolve into something much bigger.A great listen for bartenders, operators, drinks creatives, and anyone curious about where cocktail culture is heading next.In this episode:Tyler's route into hospitalityFrom Boston bars to New York advertisingWhy content creation in drinks is harder than it looksBuilding a career outside the traditional bar pathWhy bartenders need to diversify their networkWhat tiny cocktails actually areHow smaller serves can work in a bar programPricing, access, and tasting-menu applicationsThe Wheels Up partnership and Up Mini BarWhy unusual ideas can lead to major opportunitiesFollow Tyler:Instagram: @bon_vivantitoIndustry content: @zeststoriesFollow The Cocktail Academy:Instagram: @welovecocktailsTikTok: @welovecocktailsxFacebook: @welovecocktailsxWebsite: www.thecocktailacademy.comEmail: sayhello@thecocktailacademy.com If you enjoyed this episode, share it with a bartender mate, post it to your story, and tag us so we can see it. The battlefields were not the only places that threatened death during World War I. As conflict raged on and supply lines tightened, the allied powers of France, Britain, and Italy faced a fundamental problem: keeping their soldier and civilian populations safe from starvation. Wheat at War: Allied Economic Cooperation in the Great War (Oxford UP, 2025) describes how, faced with this immense challenge, the Allies devised a multilateral institution--the Wheat Executive--to do what no state could do alone. Rosella Cappella Zielinski and Paul Poast examine the difficult considerations made by the allied powers when ceding authority to an international body that would make decisions for them. Beyond successfully managing wheat shipping and distribution, they argue, the Wheat Executive proved to have significant influence in the evolving landscape of interstate cooperation. As a case study, the Wheat Executive improves our understanding of international institutional design, the importance of commodities during wartime, economic coordination amongst wartime coalition members, and the legacies of international cooperation during the First World War. As one of the first great experiments in supranationalism, the Allies' management of wheat while at war provides lessons about the emergence of international organizations and their contours. In 1957, Edgar Smith was sentenced to death for the murder of a teenage girl in New Jersey. From his prison cell, he began writing letters, essays and arguments build a case not in court, but on the page. One of those letters landed on the desk of William F. Buckley Jr. Others found their way into elite literary circles. Soon, a condemned man had powerful allies, a book deal and a growing audience convinced the system had gotten it wrong.
Bitte Mail an g.schaefer@lvz.de

Identify the core clinical and CT predictors of operative need in SBO including mesenteric edema, free fluid, closed-loop obstruction, lack of enhancement, and feces sign absence — and understand how these features have remained consistent across 15 years of research. 2. Compare major international SBO predictive models (Zielinski, Geneva Severity Score, STRISK, and NOFA) and describe how they inform real-time decision-making in North American acute care surgery. 3. Apply evidence-based algorithms, including the 2025 JTACS EGS pathway to structure SBO evaluation, integrate Water-Soluble Contrast studies, and avoid delayed surgery in high-risk patients. 4. Evaluate the long-term impact of operative vs. non-operative management with emphasis on recurrence risk, timing between episodes, and how to incorporate recurrence data into patient counseling. 5. Synthesize 15 years of evolving SBO literature into practical bedside strategies by balancing red-flag findings, risk-model guidance, and individualized clinical judgment to optimize outcomes. "Singing in a choir, you're trying to about five things at the same time, and sometimes you're not even doing it in the language you have spoken your entire life. Sometimes I had to just start with rhythm on one pitch and then build that step by step by step. In the process, I was always trying to teach voice. If the voice mechanism shuts down, that's where you get into problems and they stop engaging. You have to let people in rehearsals make mistakes, especially early on. It's so important. If you think rhythm, tone, rhythm-tone-text, rhythm-tone-dynamics, rhythm-tone-articulation, rhythm-tone-expression, that's six times I should have gone through that section. Then I saw that these kids were actually digging it, getting into it, and they felt that they were learning something."For the past 40 years, Richard Zielinski has taught at five universities, worked as a music director in numerous churches, and has conducted orchestras, choruses and stage productions throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Zielinski recently retired as the Director of Choral Activities, Chair of Graduate Choral Studies at the University of Oklahoma and as Director of Music Ministries at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Prior to his appointment at the University of Oklahoma, Richard directed choral programs at University of South Florida (Tampa), Indiana State University (Terre Haute), Mercer University, (Macon, Georgia), State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He has also served as Music Director for the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Elgin Choral Union (IL), Vermilion Festival Chorus (IL), and Terre Haute Masterworks Chorale (IN). In 2005, Richard founded and serves as conductor of the Zielinski Singers. This 40-voice professional chorus combines the talents of the finest choral singers in the United States producing performances, tours and recordings of choral works by American composers.Richard currently serves as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the 51st Classical Music Festival and Orchestra located at the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria. He is also a recipient of the Gold Medal of Achievement for his artistic achievements and musical contributions in Eisenstadt, Austria as principal conductor and artistic director of the Classical Music Festival. In 2025 Zielinski was awarded the honorary badge “Meritorious for Polish Culture” from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland for his 32 years of artistic work in Poland. In 2012, Zielinski and members of the city of Norman, Oklahoma, founded a professional orchestra, The Norman PHILharmonic. The PHIL's mission is four-fold: to be an innovative and standard-setting orchestra, to commission new works from American composers, to collaborate with area arts programs, and to excite the youth of America about symphonic music. Throughout his career Zielinski has collaborated with composers Norman Dello Joio, Libby Larsen, John Mackey, Michael Daugherty, Samuel Adler, Eleanor Daley, Marek Jasinski, Rosephanye Powell, Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, James Oliverio, Stephen Paulus, Krzysztof Penderecki and has commissioned numerous works from many of these composers. To get in touch with Rick, you can find him on Facebook (@richard.zielinski.77) or visit richardzielinski.com.Email choirfampodcast@gmail.com to contact our hosts.Podcast music from Podcast.coPhoto in episode artwork by Trace Hudson

Plus, a guide to giving to ministries helping with relief efforts in central Texas after floods devastated the area. Natasha: But first, a former member is suing John MacArthur's megachurch for how it handled church discipline. Warren: In a complaint filed Thursday (July 3) in Los Angeles County Superior Court, lawyers for Lorraine Zielinski said she went to leaders at the megachurch in LA's Sun Valley neighborhood, where MacArthur is the longtime pastor, seeking counseling for her troubled marriage and was told her conversations would be kept confidential. According to the complaint, she told counselors she was afraid for her safety and the safety of her daughter, alleging that her then-husband was physically abusive. Her lawyers said church leaders pressured Zielinski to drop her request for a legal separation. When Zielinski tried to resign as a church member, pastors put her under church discipline for failing to follow their counsel, according to the complaint. They also allegedly told her to either come to a meeting with church pastors or details of her counseling would be made public to the congregation. Natasha: What happened? Warren: According to the complaint. “When Plaintiff did not attend the meeting, GCC made good on its threat and shared information gained through confidential communications relating to her marriage with GCC membership,” “GCC also misrepresented parts of these communications, painting Plaintiff as a bad actor in the marriage and the party at fault for the marital dispute. GCC also omitted Plaintiff's husband's desire to remarry and dissolve the marriage.” Natasha: Church members were also allegedly asked to pressure Zielenski to submit to church leaders and to reconcile with her husband, according to the complaint. Warren: Lawyers for Zielenski said the church violated her right to privacy and her right to free association, disclosed private facts, painted her in a false light, breached confidentiality and intentionally inflicted emotional distress.
