Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs.   Today I’m sharing another conversation with my friend and fellow business owner, Meg of Six Figs Coaching. I helped her get back her creative spirit this year, and my work with her inspired me to create a new content coaching program I’m launching on January 15.    On today’s episode we talk about her transformation from hating creating content to being so in love with creating content that what she writes, posts and creates brings her both purpose in the world AND business success.   This program is for you if you own a business, or want to start a business and your content / niche / website / copywriting never seems to really capture who you are, how you feel and what you do.    You don’t need someone to build a website for you (though you can certainly hire someone for that), you need to see what thoughts are standing in the way of your creativity and clarity.    Head over to www.stephsheldon.com to find out more (and schedule a call to chat with me about it!).   Thanks for joining!

Transitioning Your Business Identity

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs.   Today’s episode is about allowing yourself to transition to your next professional self.   As we grow and evolve as business owners, we often need to embrace a new identity to get us to a new goal. And our brains will most likely try to convince us to stay.   Allowing yourself to grow will require you redefine where you spend your time and energy. It’ll also most likely require you to redefine your relationship to work, customers, clients, team and yourself.  Doing everything yourself saves money and time–at the very beginning. But quite soon after you begin a business, it also takes away more money and time than it saves.   Your brain will most likely freak out when you begin to redefine your existing self into a new version. Here’s how you can manage that and evolve with confidence!   Thanks for joining!

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups, and social entrepreneurs.   Today’s episode is about why I think you’re not pushing publish AND how you can correct that.   I have this theory that if you actually had: content you + your dream clients LOVED (photos + words) a plan that directly linked that content to money for you  that you would post more.    It’s sort of as simple as that.    Most of my clients do not like social media and marketing because they do not have content that accurately represents who they are and who they’re for AND they’re doing it randomly and not linking it to a sales plan.  We can fix that.   Let’s find out more about what good content can do for you.   Thanks for joining!    And if you’re like me and want to skip to planning your 2021–join me for a 2-hour workshop on October 24th where we’ll do just that. Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups and social entrepreneurs.   I find that the creative and purpose-based types resist writing business plans for a few reasons:   they don’t enjoy the process they have decision fatigue they have analysis paralysis they are confused until they just give up they think there is a universal business plan out there that they have to do ‘right’ they don’t know how to create drafts that adjust as they adjust  So, when I work with clients, I do something totally different. I listen to their stories and their dreams. Their goals and why they’re excited.    THAT is what I use to build my Visual Business Plans.     Here’s what it accomplishes:   It builds off of my clients’ natural energy  It highlights their uniqueness within the industry It makes the future clear (and bright) It helps them take intentional action (that they like taking) It helps them make money It gives them confidence It conveys their vision (and confidence) to potential investors / customers / collaborators It gets them moving in the right direction  Today, I’m sharing how I create super effective and really compelling business plans for even my most-confused and confounded clients!    Thanks for joining!    To connect with me more head over to Instagram, @stephanie_sheldon.    If you enjoyed this podcast will you please take a moment to leave a review? The Shift From Selling To Friends To Selling To Strangers

Welcome to Braving Business, a podcast about the overlap of business and personal for solopreneurs, creative startups, and social entrepreneurs.   Today I’m talking about the shift from selling to friends and family to selling to people that you don’t know.   There are many advantages to selling to friends and family. And then there are also disadvantages–especially in the long run.    And when we make that shift, we often forget why people buy things from us in the first place.    We tend to overlook a few things: The relationship capital we have with friends/family but not with those who don’t know us What this new person doesn’t know about how our product/service is valuable Where we can get stuck: We spend way too much time sharing the details of purchase instead of the value of a purchase It’s harder to sell to people we don’t know, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Failing with Faith

Failing is the way forward- so why don't we want to believe that? I think the reason is that we are scared of the feelings that come along with that. There’s an entire set of thoughts, feelings, and actions between present you and future you. We identify so much with the results of our future selves - the money, time, love, etc that Future Us has, but I think we don’t embrace the entire model of Future Us - the vulnerability, the fear, the work, the changes we will have to make to both our thinking and our actions. In this episode, you will: find out your thinking around failure  decide if that thinking is preventing you from growth define faith for yourself  find examples in the world of where those daring greatly are wildly inspiring, ESPECIALLY because they tried and 'failed' learn that failure is just the stepping stone to an evolved life  Let’s dive into how embracing failure is the way to move forward.
