The ladies of the clockin' in podcast are back. We took a long hiatus to handle some of our own mental health needs. But it's time to finish out this series. So, tune into today's episode. We'll be wrapping up our series on mental health with some solutions. Also, you're in for a very special treat and message from V. :) No ABE this week.
It's time to clock in with Kay & Elle! This week's episode begins a two-part series on mental health, its intersection with being Black, and its intersection in the workplace. In part 1, we discuss the intersection of mental health and Blackness, as well as common mental health issues in the workplace. To begin, we want to be clear that this discussion is not exhaustive. We understand that we are not mental health professionals, but wanted to touch on a topic that is so important to many Black women's professional well-being. Likewise, we realize there are several implications we carry in our privilege as lighter skinned Black women, and how that plays a role in navigating mental health issues in the workplace. We recognize colorism at play in the workplace and understand our responsibility to recognize our privilege. So, just know that we WILL be discussing this more in part 2 when we talk through solutions. For now, we hope that we can shed light on some issues and take a deeper dive with you in a couple of weeks. Welcome to a new installment for the clockin' in podcast - Take Yo 15! For these shorter clips, Kay and Elle will tackle topics that deserve attention but may not deserve a full-length episode. To get it off our chest and bridge the gap between longer episodes. Today's episode, "Dress Code" is all about how Black women get the 3rd degree when we dress nice at work. We hope you enjoy! Let us know how you like the new addition!
Happy New Year! Kay & Elle are back with another episode of the clockin' in podcast. This episode breaks down email etiquette and how to best communicate in a professional, virtual setting. As always, we add some anecdotes and humor to get you through the content. P.S.: Kay's three-year old was experiencing some big feelings during the recording of the episode. You can hear her husband in the background trying to help her little work through those big feelings. Please give us grace, as we attempt to navigate this virtual world. :) No ABE this week.

Note: This episode was recorded before the finale of our beloved 'Insecure'. Keep that in mind. :) No ABE

We call it "prepare the others" but you may have learned it as paid time off or personal time off. Either way, clock in with Elle & Kay as we break it down. No ABE

It's time to clock in! Ever felt consistently devalued and disrespected in your workplace? We have too. This week, we break down a gallup article titled "Black Women in the Workplace" that talks about how Black women feel less valued and/or respected in the workplace than their white and Hispanic male and female counterparts. It's time to clock in! This week, Kay, V, and Elle explore the agitation, frustration, and damnation of working alongside average white men in their fields. And, although this is a well-recognized problem that many Black women face, the ladies have no real solution for our listeners. Except to either play the game, or choose violence (figuratively speaking)! Listen now! ABE: CultureFit Clothing https://www.culturefitclothing.com
It's time to clock in! This week we break down the experiences we've had working with Black managers who take an "I struggled so you have to struggle, as well" approach to their leadership style. To be clear, we understand that this conversation is far more nuanced than we could take it on an hour long podcast. We understand the white supremacist working structures that have formed some of the minds of older Black people in the workforce. What we hope is that our listeners can understand that these are our experiences and that many deal with this in their fields. We hope at least one person can relate.
