One of the most significant changes in women's health has officially arrived. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is now known as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)—a name that better reflects the true nature of this common condition. In this episode, I sit down with Cory Ruth, RDN, women's health and PMOS expert, to discuss why this historic name change was made and what it means for the millions of women living with the condition. We explore how the previous name often led to confusion by focusing on the ovaries, when the condition is fundamentally driven by complex endocrine and metabolic dysfunction. Cory explains why insulin resistance plays such a central role, why weight loss can feel so frustrating, how PMOS impacts fertility and long-term health, and what women can do to support their metabolism through nutrition and lifestyle. If you've ever struggled with stubborn weight, blood sugar instability, irregular cycles, infertility, or have been diagnosed with PMOS (formerly PCOS), this conversation will help you better understand what's happening inside your body—and why this new name represents an important step forward in women's healthcare. WHAT WE DISCUSSED: Why PCOS was officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) How insulin resistance drives many PMOS symptoms Why PMOS is much more than an ovarian condition The connection between metabolism, hormones, fertility, and overall health Why weight loss is often so challenging with PMOS Nutrition and lifestyle strategies to improve metabolic health Common myths surrounding PMOS Practical first steps women can take to better manage the condition FOR MORE FROM CORY RUTH, RDN: Website: www.thewomensdietitian.com Instagram: @thewomensdietitian Book: PCOS Is My Power LET'S CONNECT: Instagram: @shana.hussin.rdn Facebook: Fast To Heal With Shana Hussin Website: shanahussinwellness.com ⭐ 90-Day Metabolic Reset (Start Here!) Proponents of incineration applaud the ability to generate energy from waste and divert garbage from landfills. Opponents worry about the potential health risks, especially to minoritized communities. And this conversation goes a lot deeper than seeing clearly. Dr. Bryce Applebaum is a functional neuro optometrist who rewires the connection between the eyes and the brain. Vision is not the same as eyesight. Eyesight is how you focus light. Vision is how your brain tells your eyes to move, converge, track, and make sense of the world. And in 2026, with the average adult spending over seven hours a day on screens, that system is under more stress than it has ever been. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why your prescription should not get stronger every year as an adult, and why a worsening prescription is a sign your brain is adapting to stress, not a normal part of aging • The connection between functional vision problems and ADHD, including why convergence insufficiency and eye turns are diagnosed far more often in kids labeled with ADHD, and how vision training has gotten patients off medication entirely • Why blue light blocking glasses are not enough, what is actually causing your brain fog and eye fatigue after hours on a screen, and the overnight contact lenses that reshape your cornea while you sleep Plus the foods that protect your eyes, the foods that accelerate macular degeneration, and why vision belongs at the top of your list if you are dealing with brain fog. Paleo Quick Tip of the Day

Send us Fan MailNowadays, we hear terms like ‘Carnivore' and ‘Plant Based', and ‘Keto'- rarely Paleo or ‘Ancestral' about diets and nutrition.  I get it: we are constantly challenged in our thinking, and so it should be.  Health and fitness are journeys, we never really reach the end of that journey!  So let's examine the current ‘Journey' of health…Carnivore diets, eschewing all but beef and salt, are the big choice now.  And carnivore is a good choice for many, especially those who have long term conditions and diseases.  A carnivore diet is kind of a “hard reset”; like restarting your computer to get rid of all the junk that has accumulated.  You can give yourself a hard restart by going carnivore for a few months, and reverse things like diabetes, arthritis, and many other bad health conditions.  And it is so simple really- just eliminate every foodstuff other than meat!  Simple, but difficult, and for most folks- impossible!  But, for a period of time, say a number of months until you recover your health- it is a great idea! But then again- we all live in the real world.  Eventually most of us would love to reemerge into the real, human, and social world where we all get together with family, have dinners together with a wide variety of foodstuffs, and pick and choose what we know we can tolerate without harm to ourselves. To drink wine and beer with dinner, enjoy fellowship with others, and to bond over cigars and cognac…Yes, even health obsessed nutcases like myself enjoy such things- as I think we all ought to!  Life is a full gamet of pleasures and pitfalls, and we need to be careful what we discard and embrace!   We don't want to be obsessed with health alone, and ignore the beauties and varieties of life choices.Look at the grocery carts of your fellow shoppers.  (I do). Most of their food choices are so bad that it's awe inspiring, really!  So, for you, a compromise is in order: for the most part, choose ancestral foods, like your forebears would consume.  Be very sparing of foods that are manufactured- seed oils, snack foods, and commercial breads and pastries- most are horrid, but occasionally they are fine.  Just get the best versions you can, from small from scratch bakeries, with sour dough offerings and such.  Eat some vegetables, but only when in a good salad, or in a meal where they are a small side dish.  Oxalate laden kale and beet green dishes are best left- uneaten!  Eat carrots and such prepared in a manner your great grandmother would have done it.  Enjoy it all, but minimize desserts entirely, and perhaps eliminate them.  Have one piece of a fine chocolate like Dove, or Lindt, (I love their Orange Chocolate Bar!) and be done with it.  Paleo or Ancestral is kind of Common Sense Diet.  Eat what you really know, after doing your research and testing on your own body, works for you.  Stick with it, and work out regularly for strength, and flexibility.  Spend time outdoors, in nature, and walk barefoot.  Don't do endless cardio marathon running, and eat with common sense- NOT Doctor mandated nonsense from profit obsessed hospitals and clinics!  In fact, just as you avoid seed oils like margarine and Cool Whip and corn oil; also avoid doctors as much as possible.  They are not working in your interest- they have the clinic's agenda (the bottom line) and that is what they are required to follow.  Your health is not part of their agenda at all.Support the show

#724: Linda Hill, a Harvard Business School professor, and Jason Wild, an innovation consultant who has led projects in 40 countries, join us to break down how organizations innovate. Linda and Jason have spent decades studying companies that consistently produce breakthroughs - from Pixar to Delta Airlines to Cleveland Clinic - and they've identified three leadership roles that matter most: the Architect, the Bridger, and the Catalyst. The Architect builds a culture where people feel safe enough to take risks. The Bridger - which Linda calls the "revenge of middle management" - spans the gaps between departments, partners, and outside organizations where innovation often stalls and dies. The Catalyst builds coalitions across broader ecosystems to get things done. We get into what separates co-creation from consensus - and why consensus almost never produces anything great. Linda explains what she calls "creative abrasion": the practice of rubbing ideas against each other through debate and discourse, rather than smoothing over disagreements to keep the peace. We also talk about what individual employees can do when they work inside slow, tradition-bound organizations. The short answer: find the people who share your interests, build a coalition, and work your way up - not by chasing the most powerful person in the room, but by starting with whoever cares about the same problem you do. The conversation touches on AI and what it actually takes to stay relevant as a knowledge worker. Linda and Jason both land on the same answer - the ability to build trust and relationships in low-trust environments is one of the hardest things for AI to replicate. You can do Walt Disney World “wrong” and still have an incredible time. Nathan proves it with a rare solo trip that includes two weeks in the Orlando area, two park days, and exactly zero interest in sprinting from headline attraction to headline attraction. We talk through what a relaxed Disney mindset looks like when nobody else is voting on the plan, and why the best moments sometimes come from letting go of the need to maximize every minute. We start at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where Nathan tries to jump into Lightning Lane Multi Pass late and realizes, in real time, how many rules and timing tricks you need to make it work. The good news: the mission still gets accomplished with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets. We break down the new theming, how the rotating songs function, and what still feels physically rough about the track. Then we dig into the Animation Courtyard refresh and why the space finally feels open, inviting, and worth a dedicated walk-through.From there, it's Animal Kingdom for Flame Tree Barbecue and a well-earned Nomad Lounge stop, plus quick hits like Expedition Everest and the Zootopia Better Zoogether show. Day two heads to EPCOT for Spaceship Earth, the new Soarin' over America, and a big rethink of Remy's Ratatouille Adventure now that it runs without 3D glasses, which can be a game-changer for motion sickness. We also share a few travel-life lessons, including why an early flight home can be great, unless you're chasing a pre-9 a.m. Sunday mimosa. If you're planning a Disney solo trip, comparing Lightning Lane strategies, or just looking for honest Walt Disney World trip reporting, subscribe, share this with a Disney friend, and leave us a review so more listeners can find the show.----Adventures & Mousecapades is a passion project from Alicea & Nathan Novak - two Seattleites addicted to The Mouse. It's one thing to practice and study mindfulness. It's a great thing. It's another to act accordingly. What happens when you're in the courtroom or conference room or family room? Does your heart stay open, or clamp shut? Is your mind filled with hate, or love? When my heart is shut or my mind is filled (or even tinged) with hate, sadly, I act accordingly. When my heart is open and my mind is filled with love, or even tipped in that direction, I tend to act according to that. In the end, and in these times especially, it's why I study and practice: to be able to see, as clearly as possible, which way this heart and mind are leaning. And to have the tools, and the fortitude, and the courage, to course-correct to love.

In this thought-provoking episode of Optimal Metabolism, Shana tackles four deceptively simple questions that reveal some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding metabolic health today. Could eating too often be more problematic than eating too much? Can someone be overweight and undernourished at the same time? Is your fatigue really a food issue—or could your light environment be playing a larger role? And what if your nightly Netflix habit is affecting your blood sugar more than that dessert you enjoyed after dinner? If you've been struggling with stubborn weight, fatigue, cravings, blood sugar issues, or simply feel like you're doing everything right without seeing results, this episode will challenge your thinking and give you a fresh perspective on what may be driving your symptoms. WHAT WE DISCUSSED: • What's harder on metabolism: overeating or over-frequent eating? • How insulin and meal frequency influence fat burning and metabolic flexibility. • Why many people today are simultaneously overweight and undernourished. • The connection between nutrient density, cravings, and metabolic dysfunction. • How light exposure impacts circadian rhythms, cortisol, melatonin, and energy production. • Why fatigue isn't always about food, supplements, or hormones. • The surprising relationship between evening screen exposure and blood sugar regulation. • Practical strategies to improve metabolic health without adding more restriction. SPONSOR OF THIS EPISODE Today's episode is sponsored by GOOD IDEA. GOOD IDEA is a science-backed beverage designed to help reduce blood sugar spikes when consumed before meals. Are Trump Accounts a good idea — or just another financial product being sold as a plan? In this episode, Curtis May breaks down Trump Accounts from a Practical Wealth and principle-based planning perspective. These accounts may help children begin saving and investing, and eligible children may receive a one-time $1,000 government contribution. But Curtis explains why one account does not replace cash flow control, liquidity, protection, and a real family financial system. The real question is not, "Should I open a Trump Account?" The better question is: Do I have a financial system that gives my family control? At Practical Wealth, we help families and business owners find money they are losing unknowingly and unnecessarily, then redirect that money toward cash flow, protection, liquidity, private reserve building, and legacy.
