Choose to be conquered by fear – haunted by it. Or be liberated by faith. Psalm 119 says that “in my distress, I prayed.” You see, faith doesn't, in and of itself, create lack of fear. No, faith taps into your ability to face them. Fear is the enemy. Disobey it. You cannot fully follow God, if you're worried about pursuing your fear. You know, he was always moving the strings. Every time I needed to hear something encouraging, he was there to show me. He let my family go through the pain of my disease to show himself as real to me. It was never me being awesome or great in anything ... He was. It was always the Lord showing his glory, and my only response could only could only have been to ... surrender." Find us on Facebook or Instagram to learn more! Want to share your story? Today Tom Magoffin sits in the studio to talk about life ... 80 years of life! This episode is compelling because we're not digging into a single testimony together. This isn't the single story of someone's health scare, job loss, or divorce. This talk reminded me of the old Viewmaster toys. If you remember, these were stereoscopic viewing devices that looked like little binoculars. When you viewed the slide images through the viewfinder, you saw pictures of places you thought you'd never go and things you thought you'd never see … but with amazing clarity and depth. The images themselves were quite small, but when viewed in stereo, they were magnificent! This is Tom's story. Slide after slide of the lessons he learned committing and staying committed to his faith. Our mission with Everstory is to seek out and celebrate everyone's story. No story is too big, no story is too small. Please feel free to reach out and share your story. We'd love to listen! Find us on Facebook or Instagram to learn more! Want to share your story? Today, we're shaking things up a bit. Tom Magoffin's story about maintaining his faith over an inspiring, 80 year life will drop next Monday. This week, we're airing the first episode in a bonus series that we're calling: “come as you are.” In these episodes, we'll be talking to believers around Fort Worth about stories that often slide under the radar. They're the stories that might not seem huge but affect us all in very real ways. We all wear those stories in our hearts and on our shoulders and likely never think to share. Our mission with Everstory is to seek out and celebrate everyone's story. No story is too big, no story is too small. So, today, our great friend Ashley West agreed to drop by and talk about her intentional decision to maintain her singleness, despite what she feels is a persistent cultural pressure to marry. Marisol Martin shares her fascinating journey about being a young woman, trapped in the rigidity and unattainable perfection of the Catholic church – struggling to find a personal, forgiving relationship with Jesus. After experiencing a visceral connection during worship at a large non-denominational church, Marisol began clashing with her family over the prospects of leaving the Catholic faith. Eventually, Marisol discovers a small, family-sized Christian church that preached a new, even more perfectionist brand of theology. What happens next is both ironically shocking and infinitely inspirational.Find us on Facebook or Instagram to learn more! Want to share your story? Send us an email to stories@doxology.church.
Bryan Smith is leading the creation of a new congregation in Alliance, Texas. In this fascinating conversation, I learned about how a young, unambitious college freshman who knew about God found a spark and launched himself into a relationship with God. When his life seemed plagued with loneliness, a chance encounter with a young believer drastically changed his perspective about faith and what it means to be a true worker in the fields. In this episode of Everstory, Tracy describes how God began inspiring her to mobilize her experience and boundless energy to help lessen the trauma shared by other victims of sexual assault. Along the way, Tracy has been empowered by Jesus to spread an undeniable light over victims of assault and abuse. This story is about a lot of things, but at its core, it's a story about how God uses us in times of crisis. Some of us are called to do a little. But others are called to bear the load. In her mission to ensure that all victims are heard, believed, and beloved, Tracy has accepted an extraordinary destiny. To learn more or donate, visit projectbeloved.org

Without stories, a person with Christ in their heart might never find the courage to bring the Word to their neighbor. Without stories, the Great Commission never occurs. Check-in with us often as we introduce stories about the way Jesus' radical love is moving in truly awesome ways. Find Everstory wherever you listen to podcasts.
