Bhūri-dā janāḥ means the most munificent, the person who is giving the best, the best giver in the world. That's what we're coming to in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, because here we start with Kṛṣṇa saying in the Bhagavad Gītā, "Be fully Kṛṣṇa conscious" (Chapter 12). If you can't do that, practice thinking of Kṛṣṇa through the rules and regulations. If you can't do that, then just try to work for Kṛṣṇa. Give! If you can't give to Kṛṣṇa for some reason—and Prabhupāda gives definition to that, like your family won't let you: "I'm sorry, I can't give a check, but it has ISKCON on it. I'm toast."So then he says, "Well, just volunteer somewhere. Go and volunteer in a national park and try to do good for others. That'll raise your awareness that the more I give, the happier I become, the more fulfilled I am." That's a revelation to all living beings in the material world who are just trying to take for themselves. That's: ahastāni sahastānām apadāni catuṣ-padām phalgūni tatra mahatāṁ jīvo jīvasya jīvanam (SB 1.13.47) This statement early in the Bhāgavatam says that living beings are just trying to eat each other. Everyone's stealing everyone else's property; whatever wealth other people have, they try to siphon it off somehow. And ultimately, you know, "You've got a body, I think I'll just eat your body to stay alive." That's the material world, and it's scary, but it's the reality of the world. So then we have this flip towards the spiritual world. How does it happen? Etāvāj janma sāphalyam: You want perfection in your life? Then learn how to give everything in a way of Śreyas—of doing good for others. That's how you become happy. tava kathāmṛtaṁ tapta-jīvanaṁ kavibhir īḍitaṁ kalmaṣāpaham śravaṇa-maṅgalaṁ śrīmad ātataṁ bhuvi gṛṇanti ye bhūri-dā janāḥ (SB 10.31.9) When Caitanya Mahāprabhu heard this verse, He became so enlivened that He embraced Pratāparudra Mahārāja at this point, when he said this verse, and He said, "You are the most munificent. You are the most munificent," He was saying over and over again to Pratāparudra Mahārāja for reciting that verse and letting that vibration out into the world. Those who are giving Kṛṣṇa-kathā, those who are teaching others about Kṛṣṇa, they are the most munificent in the world. September 24 2025 Wednesday Your Words Matter / Week 34 Abundant Life In Him #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word.  That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. My Prayers For The World Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT  'Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God's people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. Faith isn't finished until God is pleased and we are rewarded!

In this sermon, Pastor Andrey unfolds Jesus' teaching in John 10, where Christ declares Himself both the door of the sheep and the Good Shepherd.First, we see the need for a shepherd (vv. 1–10). Jesus contrasts Himself with false shepherds who climb in another way—those who neglect, misuse, or scatter God's people. Drawing from Ezekiel 34, Pastor Andrey shows how Jesus indicts the religious leaders of His day, while revealing Himself as the true Shepherd who calls His sheep by name and offers abundant life.Second, we see Jesus the Good Shepherd (vv. 11–18). Unlike hired hands, Jesus willingly lays down His life for the sheep. His care is comprehensive: He knows His own, secures them, and even gathers “other sheep” into one flock—Jews and Gentiles together. This is a love that not only rescues but also provides abundant life here and eternal life to come.Finally, we see a continuing confusion (vv. 19–21). Some accuse Jesus of being demon-possessed, while others marvel at His words and works. Pastor Andrey presses us to consider: do we hear the voice of the Shepherd? Do His words stir us toward worship, trust, and obedience?The sermon closes with a picture from Revelation 7, where the Lamb becomes our eternal Shepherd, wiping away every tear and leading His people to springs of living water. The abundant life Jesus offers is not just for today—it is forever.

Year C – 13th Sunday after Pentecost; Lectionary 23 – September 7, 2025 Pastor Megan Floyd Deuteronomy 30:15-20 Psalm 1 Luke 14:25-33   Grace and peace to you from God, our Creator, and from Jesus, our Savior, who urges us to choose life, so that we may live. Amen. *** These are some challenging words from Jesus today. …Reminds me of the good news from a few weeks ago, when Jesus said he did not come to bring peace, but division… these words make me catch my breath. Yet they are part of the Good News and have been set before us… and so today, we will wrestle with them… together. “Whoever comes to me and does not hate their family, and yes, even life itself, cannot be my disciple.” Is Jesus really telling us that… hate… is a mark of discipleship? Isn't God supposed to be all about love? Isn't the greatest commandment, above all the others… You shall love the Lord, your God, and then… you shall love your neighbor as you love yourself. Yes! Jesus did say that! …and it wasn't new information… he was drawing from Deuteronomy and Leviticus, which his listeners would have known. And what about the fourth commandment… You shall honor your father and mother? How are we to follow God's commandment to honor our parents if Jesus states that we cannot become his disciples unless we hate them? We call the gospels Good News… but Good News… isn't always easy to hear. And yet… it is still good. It is good because it comes from God, who is, indeed, all about love. But it requires us to make choices… choices between life and death… blessings and curses. Choose to fear and love the Lord, your God, above all else. The one who created you, who loved you into existence, desires for you to put God and God's commandments before everything else. Following God has always been about loving God above all else… because we are so loved. And we know… we know… that following God's will for us… that following God's commandments does, in fact, lead to a full life blessed with love and abundance… …it leads to communities that care for the needs of others, where all people are valued and supported, and where everyone has enough. Even though God desires for us to choose this life and these blessings… it still comes with a cost. See, the common thread between our texts today is God's desire for us to first recognize all that God offers us… all that God has laid out for us to consider… and then to make the choice, the only choice… that leads to a flourishing life. …not just for us alone, for we are not meant to be alone… but a flourishing life as communities that have chosen to love God above all else. Choose life… so that you may live… but count the costs of this life of discipleship so you don't make this choice blindly… and you will know …that what God offers is good. We know all about making choices… and we know all about making sacrifices for those choices. There are the little choices we make every day, like choosing a healthy lunch over fast food, because we know that while that burger and fries might taste great in the moment… if that was all we ate, every day… we wouldn't feel so great. And generally what you choose to eat for lunch doesn't become your whole identity… it doesn't demand that you put everything and everyone else as secondary. That would be crazy. But there are choices we make… sacrifices we make… that require this of us… like for example… the choice to play youth travel sports. Working in youth ministry, I regularly lamented the rise in popularity of youth travel sports. Maybe some of you have had your kids involved in travel teams, I don't know… And if you did and loved them, you might get angry with me about this… But here's my perspective from the ministry side of things. Whenever one of my church youth joined a travel team, it was pretty much the death blow to whatever life of faith they and their family had been developing until that point. Participation in travel teams demanded that everything else be sacrificed. First, the family had to invest thousands of dollars every year for their child to be on the team, which wasn't even a guarantee they'd play. And, it was a travel team, so every weekend, the family would be traveling for games… and over the years, it seemed that weekends alone weren't enough, so they started planning for other games during the week. These teams insisted that for the athlete to be successful, every available moment needed to be devoted to the travel team. The team was the highest priority, and if you challenged that, you couldn't be on the team. And so, these kids sacrificed a lot. They sacrificed any opportunity to be involved in anything else with their school or friends. They sacrificed their grades as they struggled to balance school and their commitments to the team. And they sacrificed their faith, and any relationships their family had been nurturing at their church… all of this was sacrificed on the altar of youth travel sports. And for what? …for the hope that someday they might play professionally? I suppose… it occasionally happens, but not usually. Everything in their world became focused on themselves and the game… Their parents supported it, or often even pushed their kid to do it, because they thought they were giving them the best chance to get ahead in this life… in this culture. And… it always broke my heart. Always. Because, in my observations… once a family chose to sacrifice everything for youth travel sports… sacrifice everything for their child's individual teenage success, it was almost impossible to bring them back around to the importance of their faith community. There would be no more opportunities to show them the incredible transformation in ourselves and in the people around us when we choose, not to live just for ourselves, but to live for God and others. There would be no more opportunities to show them how much loving others, as God loves us, is actually one of the most beautiful blessings of all. And no more opportunities to walk with them on their faith journey, when the doubt creeps in, or they get angry with God about something that happened… To be able to offer the kind of reassurance that can only come from the people in your faith community who are with you on that journey, and can speak into your experience. Now please understand… I know that youth travel sports are not really the problem… and I'm sure not all of them are as intense as the ones I encountered. They are a product of our culture that tells us every day that if you aren't focused on your own personal gain and success, then you've already lost. But that's actually contrary to God's desire for us…we weren't created to be alone… we weren't created to toil away as individuals. We were created to succeed and flourish as a people when we love and honor God first, and love and honor our neighbors… when we follow God's commandments. By prioritizing God and the collective needs of the community over our own, we discover what God knew to be true all along… we discover that our hearts and lives are transformed, and we are abundantly blessed. This life of discipleship… this life of following Jesus… leads to an abundant life… but it comes with a cost. We must be willing to put God first in our lives… before all else… and to trust that God is faithful and true in God's promise… that what God has set before us is life and prosperity… and death and adversity. And God wants us to choose life, and that life is good. So the mark of discipleship is not hatred for your family… no… the mark of discipleship is love for God above everything else. And when you love God above all else, it becomes your identity… and it becomes the lens through which you look at everything and everyone around you… so you see the world as God sees it. You see the world through God's lens of perfect love. It's a breathtaking view… a costly view, and the choice is yours to make… and the Good News is… God is going to keep putting this choice in front of you. God is going to keep putting this choice in front of you, no matter how far you have wandered, and no matter how much you have decided that the life of discipleship is too hard. The Good News is… God isn't going to give up on you… because God loves you, and really wants you to choose life. Amen.

Settle in and let's warm our hearts by the fire of God's unending love, discover encouragement for the day ahead, and remember: you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The Word cannot be extinguished. In Jeremiah, we see pages of God's Word set on fire by an evil king. The world may try to silence the truth, to sever its message, and to scatter its ashes—but the Word of God cannot be extinguished. The king slices the scroll and burns each section, thinking he can judge and end what God has spoken. But God's Word returns, and not just the same—this time, it comes back with much more. Even human defiance, the fiercest resistance, cannot put an end to what God is doing. Out of the ashes, God's Word emerges anew—rewritten, restored, reaffirmed. The prophet proclaims again what God will do. The king may burn the scroll, but he cannot burn the author or extinguish the purpose. And then, we turn to John's Gospel. We see the evil king, Satan, striving to put an end to God's Living Word, Jesus, by consigning him to the cross. Yet, just as with the scroll, the cross cannot stop God. In fact, it is at the cross that God's purpose is fulfilled most deeply. Jesus goes to the cross for us—to enter into the fire of judgment, the depths of death and darkness—for our sake. But neither the grave nor the flames of judgment can hold him. As Jeremiah's scroll was rewritten, so Jesus emerges from the tomb—the resurrection and the life. He becomes the firstfruits of all who will be brought into God's much more, the abundant life he promises. He consigned himself to the cross so that we might move beyond the ashes and into the new life—the much more life—found only in him. The invitation is to leave behind the fires of despair and enter into resurrection hope, to embrace the abundance that Jesus brings. That is the prayer for my own soul today: that I may step into the much more of life in Christ. It is the prayer for my family—for my wife, my daughters, my son. And it is the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you.
